Finding the Way
"Hyacinth," Nys called the girl as she got out of the limousine. Hyacinth turned to Nys, a smile gracing her lips.

"You're okay." The brown-haired girl hurried over to her friend. Nys nodded as they started toward the university gates. "I wanted to check on you, but I wasn't sure how. Your brother doesn't know me, so I thought it would be weird if I showed up suddenly."

"Nem would probably think you're a friend of mine," Nys said glancing over to Hyacinth. The girl was still smiling but Nys' attention was caught by the bruise around her neck. It looked like someone had tried to strangle her. "Hyacinth! What happened? Did your mother—"

Nys pulled the girl's collar back to get a better look. Hyacinth slapped her hands away and grabbed her collar, "It's nothing."

"What happen yesterday?" Nys asked concerned.

"It wasn't my mother. It was Cara." Hyacinth said fixing her collar and continuing toward their destination. Nys had no choice but to follow.

"Cara did that?" Nys asked. "Why?"

"She was angry but much more than normal. She followed me to the restroom and well…" She motioned to her neck and Nys sighed deeply.

"I should have come yesterday."

"It's not your fault. Cara has always hated me. I can't expect you to save me all the time," Hyacinth stated as she scanned her ID bracelet to enter the school gates. Nys wanted to protest that she could protect Hyacinth, but that would be a lie. They didn't even share any classes together.

Nys found it a little odd that Hyacinth was taking everything so well. When she met her, she was a mouse in a room full of cats.

"Are you going to be okay," Nys scanned her bracelet and went in behind Hyacinth.

"Yes. For once I wasn't afraid of her," Hyacinth looked pensive. "Actually, I didn't feel threatened by her either."

"But she attacked you. I feel like we should do something. You're a minor. Cara shouldn't be able to attack you like this. We should turn her in."

Hyacinth shook her head, "There's a reason for Cara's hate. She just can't hate me for no reason."

"You'd be surprised," Nys said as they entered the courtyard.

"I understand what you're saying but with Cara, it just feels like there's something more."

Nys wondered what Hyacinth meant but decided to change the subject for now. "How are you feeling. I mean… a lot happened and now you're a magical girl."

"I feel…hmm," the prodigy thought for a second then continued, "different, but it doesn't feel bad. Kind of like someone opened a door for me. There's so much knowledge that filled my mind. It was like it was always there but now I can use it. It's exciting and disconcerting all at once."

"But you're okay?" Nys asked.

"Yes. I feel more at home in my own skin. It's like I've never been this relaxed before. I've never been this happy with myself." The light in Hyacinth's eyes made Nys wonder why her experience was different. She didn't feel at all content with becoming a queen.

"I feel like I have a purpose now." Hyacinth was grinning as she explained.

Nys didn't feel that way at all. She felt empty inside the longer she thought about it. Even though she gave herself the duty to save the Voids, she still felt empty inside. It was troubling that she just realized how she felt.

"Nys?" Hyacinth gently poked the woman.

"That's good. I was worried." The blonde said trying to shake away her disturbing thoughts.

"Nys!"

Nys looked up to see Moira entering the gates. The tall woman jogged over to her side and bear-hugged her, "Where were you yesterday. You didn't even answer your phone. I was worried."

"Sorry, I was sick. I didn't even look at my phone yesterday."

"Are you okay?" Garnet colored eyes inspected her with concern.

"I'm fine now. I just had to sleep off whatever it was." Nys assured the woman.

Moira sighed and settled back into a much more normal demeanor, "I can't believe I let you worry me so much. Hyacinth, how are you?"

"Hi, I'm fine," The young girl said with a quick wave. "I have to hurry to class. I'll see both of you later."

"See you later," Moira said and Nys waved at the girl as she left. "She seems different."

Nys nodded in agreement. Hyacinth was happy and it didn't appear to be an act. "It's good right?"

"Yeah," Moira said tilting her head as she thought of something.

"How was your family meeting?"

"No one died this time." Moira joked.

"Not funny. Your family is scary." Nys said remembering how one of Moira uncles had been murdered a few years ago.

"Don't worry it was boring. Father decided to change his will again to include his mistress. Nothing out of the ordinary. In a few months, he'll probably be writing her out of the will for being a gold digger."

"I'm kind of glad I only have Nem," Nys said picturing herself with a full family, living her life like she was in a family drama. She bristled at the thought.

The two of them continued to talk and catch up as they headed to their class. On the way, Nys noticed Cara sitting in the courtyard staring up at the clouds. She looked like she did when she saw her that night. Her mind far from the place she was in.

It was a brief second, but the girl's green eyes met with her blue ones and they stared at each other. A hymn was carried on a cool breeze. It stopped as soon as Cara broke eye contact. The girl didn't react as she normally would have. Instead of getting irate with Nys, she just stood up and left.

"Are you okay?" Moira asked.

"Yeah, just a weird moment," Nys said doubting herself. She wasn't sure if she heard the hymn or if she was imagining it. "Let's hurry."

---

Cara wasn't sure what had just happened. One second she was lost in her thoughts and then the next she was staring at Lumillia. A hymn had filled her mind as she lost herself in the sapphire eyes. It was strange but familiar. Just like when she first met her best friend. Time had slowed and music filled the air.

Shaking away the wayward thoughts she grabbed her phone and opened her contacts clicking on the name of her friend. The phone ringed over and over but still no response. Cara was only glad she wasn't sent straight to voicemail.

"I'll just take it easy today," she mumbled to herself as she headed to class.

-----

Nys called out from work and came home. She didn't really feel like working. She felt better but still not one hundred percent. Something just felt off. She entered her home and locked the door. After kicking her shoes off, she went and flopped on her bed. Closing her eyes and she laid still for several minutes. Her mind wandering around in circles over everything that happened since she picked up Liri.

"You should rest for tonight," Liri's cute but monotone voice broke through her dozing state. Nys jerked suddenly startled by the voice.

"Please don't do that, you scared me," Nys said turning over and sitting up. She rubbed the palm of her hand over her face and glared at the doll sitting on her desk. "You know, I'm used to being alone around this time in the evening."

"You have to be more aware of your surroundings," Liri informed her.

"I'm taking that as you're sorry," rolling her shoulders, she yawned then pulled her tie off. "Also, we need to talk."

"If this is about your brother, I have nothing to say. I was not aware he knew so much about the Void or your situation."

Nys felt like that was a bald-faced lie but she wasn't about to fight him on it. She didn't care if he didn't tell her about Nem. Her brother told her in the end, so that was good enough for her. "Not that. I want to talk about that female Void."

"Lei?"

"She has a name?" Nys was surprised that the Voids had names.

"Don't you."

"How would I know if she had a name. You don't tell me anything. You leave me in the dark about everything. You tell me not to attack but you didn't say she was strong enough to punch a hole in my gut." Nys said anger bubbling under the surface.

"If I tell you not to attack a Void, it means you aren't strong enough and I'm not strong enough to protect you," the doll finally clarified.

"Thank you. I don't know why you don't like me, but can we at least communicate. I don't want to die and I'm sure you feel the same," Nys said patting the bed in front of herself.

The doll took the hint and jumped on the bed. "Fine, it might be helpful."

"Might?"

"It will be helpful," Liri corrected. "What do you want to know about Lei?"

"What is she?"

"A Void," Liri said dully.

Nys sighed heavily, "You know what I meant. She's not the same. She talked and made sense. All the voices talked as if they were one. When the other Voids speak it's so distorted and painful to listen to."

"Lei is a Void that hasn't succumbed to the final part of corruption. She is aware of herself and in control. Unlike the two Voids you've met so far, there are others that are in control of themselves. They will appear more human-like, but they are still corrupted. Trusting them would be dangerous," Liri explained.

"So, you want me to kill them too?"

"It would be something you'd inevitably have to do," Liri looked up at her with a blank expression.

"I want to save them," Nys said plainly.

"How would you possibly do that? You're weak. You can barely kill them,"

"I don't care. I'm going to save them," she said stubbornly.

Liri's expression changed subtly. Nys wasn't even sure what changed but she almost flinched at the oppressive air that was suddenly in the room, "How?"

"S-she said I-I could," Nys stuttered but recovered, "If I gave something up, I would be able to save them. I did. So, there shouldn't be a reason I can't help them."

Liri's eyes bore into her but she didn't turn away, "I want to save them."

Finally blinking the doll sighed and turned his attention to another spot in the room, "If that is what you wish. Then we will do so."

Nys was taken aback by how easily the doll gave in. It was weird, but she didn't dare ask about it.

"To save a Void you must touch the core with your bare hand, no other queen can do this. Once you do so, you must help them make peace with their past life. If you can, you will set them free. If you cannot then you will be corrupted. What did you give up?"

"Image," Nys said finally not afraid to tell the doll. Liri was finally going to help her the correct way.

"Last Gift, not the best choice but helpful. That art will allow you to steal away their memories, but they must be at peace before you use the art. If you steal away their memories before that moment, they will go berserk and you will be harmed," Liri continued the explanation.

"I understand. I'll do my best," Nys said gently patting the doll's head and Liri allowed it.

"Is there anything else you want to know. I'm willing to answer any question just for today," the doll said folding his arms across his chest.

Liri will answer any question. What should Nys ask about?

But there IS a concern form me in that Nys seems like...Well.
Maybe it's just down to us NOT asking about the Void that one time Liri gave us a chance to ask questions...IDK.

Royal Hymn
"You promise to tell me the truth no matter what the answer is?"

"Yes, I owe you that much," Liri said, red eyes staring at her blue eyes.

"First, what is the corruption you mention earlier and how does it spread?" Nys started.

"The corruption is the result of something very precious being stolen from its rightful owner. Without it, nothing was left, but the void and from that abyss came the Voids. The corruption can not spread to humans in the way you think. Humans cannot become Voids, but they can be devoured by one. Thus, adding their souls to the Void's collective."

"Collective?" Nys thought about the countless voices she heard when the Voids spoke.

"A hive. The Voids are like hives. Thousands of souls collected into one being." Liri explained and Nys felt revulsion at the thought.

"A perfect reaction," the white-haired doll said looking at his hands. Nys wondered something in the back of her mind but she didn't ask. Liri said he would answer any question, but she wasn't sure he would answer that question.

"Let's move on. Um… qualifications. What qualifies a person to be a queen? I'm not exactly queen material, but somehow, I still got chosen. Oh yeah, how can we identify another queen?"

"These are actually some good questions coming from you," Liri teased her.

"I am actually pretty smart you know. I go to a prestigious university," Nys said feeling insulted.

"I'm joking with you Nys. There are no qualifications to become a queen. You are just born one. There are only a select few. Once they are awakened that is the end. There will be no others,"

"So, there is a set number. That makes sense. Everyone can't be a queen," she said pensively.
"I'm sure you've noticed but a queen's keyhole is a way to identify them. On rare occasions, a hymn can be heard but that is usually for queens that are in sync or of the same elemental family," Liri said watching Nys realize something.

"She's one… of all people," she said in disbelief.

"Questions Nys," he reminded her.

"Oh, um… you said I could set them free but what does that really mean. I'm not just mercy killing them in a nicer way, am I?"

"No, you're allowing them to return to where they belong," He said with a tender look on his face.

"Where is that?" she asked.

"To their queen's side. I won't say any more on that so move on to your next question,"

"What is a Void's core, and what is the Queen's Palace?" Nys asked wondering if Liri would explain all that to her.

"A core is where the life force resides. Voids are not the only ones with cores or at least in the past they weren't. Now, they may be the only ones. Inside a Void, there is a leader for the collective. The core is where that leader also keeps their personality and sense of self safe from the chaos inside the void. It is why Lei can control herself. If a Void's core becomes corrupted, then they become like the monsters you're used to. Some Voids will consume others to prevent a complete meltdown, but that jeopardizes the attacker's hive and their core,"

"So, Voids aren't bad. The corruption causes madness and once it completely takes over, they can no longer control themselves," Nys said perceptively.

"Yes,"

"Why lie to me then?" Nys waited for the doll's answer. She had listened to everything he told her from the beginning, and she didn't understand why he would hide the truth from her. He had forced her to kill Voids that she probably could have saved.

"To make it easier on you," he began quietly. "Purifying them can drive you mad if you chose the wrong path. Even now the method you chose leaves much to be desired. You will suffer for them and I know that you are willing to do that, but I would much rather kill them," he said without remorse.

"Why would you want to do that! They're innocent." Nys was taken aback by the doll's thoughts.

"Why must you always put them first? For once, I wanted you to put away your self-sacrificing behavior."

Nys felt Liri's words were directed at her but she didn't know how to react. He was angry with her for wanting to help the Voids, but there was something else to it. She couldn't name it, but she felt there was much more going on than she knew.

The doll let out a long-suffering sigh, "The Sacred Palace is a place that is a far more advanced and complicated version of a core. It is where all the queen's memories, knowledge, and arts are held. It houses the queen's true self, which is the person they were before this world existed. Only those of royalty can enter the queen's sacred palace or someone she deems worthy. Meaning those with a blessing can enter a sacred palace,"

"So, it's an actual place?" she asked.

"Yes, a place in your soul," Liri explained.

"I guess I understand," Nys said getting up. "Thank you for answering my questions."

"If you need help just ask. Since this is the path you want to take then I will try to guide you without a shroud," Nys felt like Liri had changed. She didn't know why but she wasn't going to complain. She nodded and smiled.

---

The next day Nys headed to school. Moira called her to tell her that she was sick and to take notes for her. Since the mid-semester break was next week Moira didn't want to miss getting the assignments for the break. Nys took diligent notes and recorded the lectures for her.

After class, she searched for Hyacinth since she wanted to tell her what Liri had talked to her about, but the girl was in classes all day. Nys sighed to herself. She had also wanted to talk to her about Cara. The woman was a queen if the hymn was an indicator like Liri had said. Except that meant Hyacinth would be on a team with her bully.

That wasn't good at all, especially since the woman just choked the girl out the day before. Nys was confused about how she was supposed to proceed. If Hyacinth felt uncomfortable with Cara, then they couldn't work together. Plus, Cara's nasty attitude was annoying. How were they supposed to work on a team together when life and death were at stake every time they fought.

Then again, what were they going to do with just the two of them? Things were going to get harder for them the more they fought against the Voids. The one at the university was a prime example of needing a team with excellent teamwork.

While walking aimlessly, Nys spotted Cara sitting in the courtyard again. This time Cara was staring at her. Her eerie green eyes were striking but also very unsettling. The woman jumped up to her feet when their eyes met and strolled over to her. The hymn from before returned and everyone around them just seemed to disappear.

"You're just like her. My friend…You hear it too don't you. The song," the woman's attitude did a one-eighty from the first time she met her. Her voice was even softer. "You have to help me find her."

Nys hesitated, "Cara are you okay?"

"Don't play dumb with me! You heard it too and you can hear it now." Cara said going back to her normal tone of voice.

"Okay I heard it but what do you mean by help you find your friend? Your friend hears the hymn too?"

"Yes, she's the first person I've ever heard it with, but then that bitch ruined everything!" the redheaded woman clenched her fists at her sides.

"Calm down. I'll help you, but you have to listen to me and act rational," Nys said laying down some rules. Cara could be a handful and she didn't want to take that on without rules of some sort.

Cara looked like she was thinking it over but nodded her expression becoming more relaxed. Nys felt relief. "Tonight, let's meet and we'll talk this over. I have someone you should meet. He might be able to help."

"We meet here then."

"Wait that's not going to work," Nys said remembering Liri's warning.

"I agreed to your rules so we're meeting here. Hymn or not if you don't show up, I'm going to get you tomorrow." Cara threatened her.

Nys rolled her eyes annoyed, "Fine. We'll meet here."

----

Rushing home after her classes, she sent all her notes and recordings to Moira then called Hyacinth.

"Hello?"

"Hey, tonight let's go looking for a Void. I want to try something." Nys said wondering if she could find the core of the Void at the school without fighting it.

"Nys, I can't. My sister came home and it's not looking good right now. Let's go tomorrow, I don't think I can even sneak away tonight."

"Alright, tomorrow."

"Promise me you won't go alone. You almost died last time. I don't think I can handle that happening again," Hyacinth's voice shook as she spoke.

"Okay, I won't go looking for Voids. I promise." Nys hoped it didn't count as a lie. She wouldn't be looking for the Void since she already knew where it was.

"Alright, I trust you," the girl said.

"I'll see you tomorrow."

---

Nys thought she could count on Hyacinth to help her but if she was having more family problems then she didn't want to bother her. She knew she needed help but asking Nem was out of the question. He might know about the Voids but how would he fight them. She doubted bullets would hurt them. She had to keep him far away from this.

Getting inside her home she hurried to her room and found Liri watching her TV. He looked disinterested but continued to watch,

"Hey," the doll glanced over to her as she came in pulling her key out and unlocking her power. She breezed through the transformation and threw her bookbag on the bed, "I met a queen."

"You heard a hymn?" The doll inquired.

"Yeah, when you told me about it yesterday, I remembered what happened. Today it happened again, and she wants me to help her friend who hears the hymn too," Nys said excitedly. She might have found two queens at once.

"Then we need to meet this girl," Liri said turning off the TV. "If she does hear the hymn then you two are of the same elemental family. She'll be more valuable to you than Hyacinth,"

Liri hopped off her bed on to her desk and opened the window. "Lead the way."

Nys nodded. She wanted to know why Cara would be more valuable than Hyacinth, but it wasn't the time to ask any more questions. She needed to get to the courtyard and meet with Cara.

As they made their way to the courtyard, Liri became more agitated, "Why here."

"It's where she told me to meet her. I didn't have a choice. We'll just have to be careful," Nys said landing in the courtyard without a sound.

Liri looked at the woman with a small smile. Nys was confused by the expression but then realized that she landed with grace, finally. She sighed inaudibly and stood up straight. Cara was sitting in the spot she always sat. She looked up to see Nys.

"What's with the getup? You look stupid."

"Keep your opinion to yourself if you want my help," Nys said folding her arms over her chest.

"Fine," the woman said getting up and going over to the doll. With a quickness Nys wasn't expecting Cara attempted to kick Liri. The doll was faster and dodged the attempt.

"I'm not allowed to kill a queen, but I will retaliate if you hurt me," Liri said leaping back and landing on Nys' shoulder.

"Leave him alone Cara or I'll leave you to solve your problems," Nys warned the woman a second time.

Cara groaned before going back to the bench to take a seat, "I'll play nice… just help find her."

"Now that we've come to an understanding. This is Liri. He's a guide that helps queens like us. By the way, I think you're a queen like me, which is why we both hear that hymn. The same might be true of your friend," she explained.

"A queen, it sounds like a lie, but you are dressed like that with a talking doll. She also said something weird like that once," Cara stared up at the sky.

"We need to find your friend," Nys thought queens might accept the truth so readily because they know deep down that they were never like everyone else.

Nys needs to ask Cara questions. You need to ask 3 questions.

-Sorry for the late update. I might have to cut my updating back to twice a week since it's getting harder to keep up.

-The profile pictures for Cara (Character Sheet) and Lei (Character Sheet II) have been updated. Since I'm drawing again, I want to give all the characters better-looking profile pics. It will be a slow process but I'm going to do them all.

First things first, who is your friend? That's the information you should have volunteered the first time the question arose so we could actually have come into this prepared.

Last thing is, what is so special about the courtyard that you insist on meeting here despite the clear danger. And why are you still alive, for that matter?

Not sure about the second one. Possibly we could also ask about what happened the last time they spoke, so that we'd have a more clear idea why they lost contact.

"First, who is your friend? It might be helpful if we start there so we can come into this prepared." Nys said. She had to stay calm with Cara. The woman loved to frustrate people, but Nys figured she could just leave the girl to solve the problem if she acted up.

"My friend's name is Eurytia Sherieve. She's a student of the rival university, Veilalen. We've been friends since high school. She the only person in this world I won't hurt or hate. If you help me find her, I'll stop harassing your friend."

The proposal caught Nys off guard, "What?"

"I'll leave Hyacinth alone," Cara flicked her hair from her shoulder and stared at Nys with her creepy lime green eyes. "That's my payment if you help me."

"You're not joking, right? If you're lying to me, you'd better turn back now. I'll make you regret it if you lie to me."

"For her, I'd do anything, even leave Hyacinth alone. She's not even the real target." Cara explained with a huge smile.

Nys tilted her head toward Liri. The doll nodded and she sighed inwardly. She had to remember that helping Cara would be beneficial for her in the end. "You'll also have to listen to a future request I have."

The redhead gave her a questioning look, but Nys didn't say anymore. Cara bit her lip then nodded in agreement.

"So, what happened the last time you spoke to her?" Nys wondered if the two women had gotten into a fight. Knowing Cara, she probably ran the woman off with her terrible personality.

"My foster brother went missing. Eurytia is his girlfriend. He means everything to her. Just like she means everything to me. After he went missing, we searched for him for six months. I gave up because I'm sure he committed suicide after the humiliation he suffered at the hands of that woman. He was always weak. Eurytia couldn't give up. I tried to stop her from continuing down a destructive path, but she wouldn't listen. In the end, we fought, and she told me it would be better if she searched alone. After that, she disappeared. Her apartment is empty, and she hasn't gone to school since then that was two years ago."

"You don't seem to care about your brother."

"Should I? We were never close, and he took away the only person I cared about because he's weak." Cara's words were blunt.

"I guess not. What is so special about the courtyard that you insist on meeting here despite the clear danger. And why are you still alive, for that matter?"

"What do you mean by danger? I've been coming to this courtyard for the past year. There's nothing here to harm me?"

"You've never sensed anything ominous here?" Liri asked unsure of how the girl could have survived so long in the lair of a powerful Void.

"No. Why?"

Nys couldn't believe that the woman hadn't been attacked once or that she felt safe in the courtyard at night. "Why do you come here."

"Because Eurytia loved to sneak in and watch the stars with us."

Nys felt bad for the woman but also wondered why her personality was so weird. "That isn't much to go off but maybe we can figure something out."

Liri's ears twitched and the doll seemed to perk up. His eyes darted back and forth as he tried to pinpoint a sound that Nys hadn't paid attention to.

"It's here," Liri whispered.

"Already?" Nys said calling her weapon to her side.

-Liri profile picture is the only one I had time enough to update. More info has been added to all of the profiles. The layout has been changed, hopefully for the better. Eurytia's profile will be added as soon as I can get to it. Also updates will be cut back to twice a week until January.

"core", I would assume?

Not really inclined to fight unless Cara is massively better than what her stats suggest and could be made to transform and help out. Then again, it was suggested that the Void ignores her... but does it make it better for us?

Liri would likely have to do the heavy lifting while we try our newfound ability to erase their memories. Can it be attempted anytime we touch the core, regardless of whether the Void in question is beat up or not? Or is it a finishing blow and we have to wear the enemy down to even attempt it?

Yes that choice is finding the core. Typo.

Nys only needs to find and touch the core. The Void doesn't even need to be attacked if the core is found first.

Also three options can be chosen

How do we choose three when they seem mutually exclusive?

They are but there are three options. For example, Nys could have Liri find the core while she defends Cara and then use a write-in to have them do something else. But it is a few combination you could use with the 8 choices. Or one option can be chosen that's fine too.

I think that it may be the best for us to avoid confrontation for three reasons.

1. Liri did not think that we could beat this Void in our current state.
2. We will need to spend time protecting Cara a since she is un-transformed.
3. We can come back later with teammates if we choose to retreat.

I'll extend the vote until Tuesday. Its okay to choose just one choice but it might be better to be specific about what you want for the other choices involving Liri.

On the other hand we just got our secret weapon that we paid dearly for, Cara has not been attacked for days despite being glued to the place (the Void may have a connection to Cara), and the only teammate we have so far is Hyacinth, who probably would be very conflicted about coming to Cara's hangout spot.

Let's see what our purification method entails.

Royal Hymn III
"Liri."

The doll nodded already understanding what Nys wanted to do. He hopped off her shoulder and started to survey the area. The Void was strong but cautious. Looking up at the redhead he spoke, "If you want to keep your life, stay by her side."

Cara looked at Nys then back to the doll, "Whatever."

Nys grabbed the girl's wrist and swiftly pulled her away from the main courtyard. She had to find the core while Liri distracted it. The only problem was Nys had no idea where to start. Cores weren't easy to find in the first place and she wasn't sure how long she could leave Liri alone with the Void. She didn't want him to get hurt again.

"Cara, you've been here almost every night. You must have noticed something,"

"I didn't notice anything and from what I can tell there isn't anything to really worry about. Nothing is even happening," Cara said annoyed.

Nys glanced back at the woman as she dragged her to the university's first garden. "Your life is in danger and you still find the time to be annoying. We're in dire straits here so I need you to get it together if you want to stay safe."

"No one asked you to protect me! All I want is to find Eurytia!" the woman yelled.

"You can't find her if you're dead!" Nys countered.

Cara stopped in her tracks and blinked several times before turning her attention back to Nys, "You're right."

Nys was taken aback again by the woman admitting she was wrong. Cara pulled her hand gently from Nys and looked at her. Her eerie eyes displaying some unknown emotion, "I'll listen."

Nys didn't know how to respond to the sudden change that just happened. "Right…um, we need to hurry. If there is anything odd that you remember seeing just let me know. We need to stay away from the void for now."

Cara nodded grabbing Nys' hand ready to follow. Nys wasn't sure what happened but she liked the Cara that was holding her hand now much better than the one before. She vaguely wondered if the woman had a personality disorder.

"Let's go," Nys said hurrying as they made their way to the garden.

----
Liri inspected the courtyard once more. Though he could sense the void, he couldn't pinpoint it. It was watching him but not attacking. Was it waiting? It knew that he was no match, yet it still didn't attempt to attack him. Though he had the blessing it could be ignored by some Voids.

"Show yourself," he commanded.

Only silence greeted him. He was being watched but not attacked. It was too strange unless the void was in control of itself. It hadn't reached the point of no return.

"I only want to speak with you. You know I am no match for you," Liri said truthfully.

"I have no desire to fight you or your queen. They would hate that." The voices in unison spoke as the young man finally appeared from the shadow of the largest tree in the courtyard.

Liri turned his attention to the voice and was shocked, "You do not belong to her."

"No, but they do," the Void said.

Liri didn't understand how it was possible. It was impossible for this creature to stand before him. Humans couldn't become Voids. Before he could speak, he felt a queen's presence enter the university. Another impossibility arrived, a queen that he didn't awaken and she was headed toward the gardens.

------
In the Arclight garden, Nys and Cara rushed past countless types of flowers. Even in autumn, there were numerous types that bloomed in the university's garden.

"There was nothing strange since the day I started coming to the courtyard," Cara said her tone of voice soft and gentle. Nys really wanted to ask the woman what was up with her but now she didn't have the time.

Nys stopped, "So, you've come here without ever feeling like something was watching you or anxiety was building in your chest."

Cara nodded, "I have never been attuned to my surroundings. It is possible that I may have overlooked the feeling you speak of."

Nys shook her head to keep herself from just asking if the woman was crazy. The Cara she knew was a completely different person from the one in front of her. "Anyhow it seems like the void isn't trying to hurt you and from the sound of it, there isn't even a fight going on in the courtyard. What is going on?"

Nys didn't have a norm when it came to Voids. She had only faced three, but everything was telling her something was off. "Did Eurytia ever go anywhere else in the university?"

"Three places. The courtyard where Ren and I would watch stars with her, Vahnaye Hall, and the third garden, Eone."

"Then we need to check those places. The core might be there. We can't waste time. Liri isn't strong enough to hold that void off if it decides to be aggressive," Nys said hoping the doll would be smart about any tactics he used.

"Then where should we go?" Cara asked.

----

Nys needs to search one of the places, which place should she go to?

[] The Courtyard, the place where Eurytia, Cara and Cara's foster brother would watch the stars.
*Liri is currently there with the Void.
[] Vahnaye Hall, A memorial hall built for a queen.
*Cara explains, "Eurytia hated going there but would do so constantly. She would go there and stand silent. She always looked enraged when standing there.
[] Eone's Garden, The third garden at Luxarc. It is forbidden for students or staff to enter. Reasons unknown.
*Cara explains, "Eurytia seemed to love that place even more than the Courtyard. Though no one is allowed there ever, she would take us there almost as much as we went to the courtyard.

"didn't awaken"?

"seemed"

So if nothing strange was noticed so far, doesn't it mean that the "irregularity" which could indicate the core is somewhere out of the way?
Incoming Enemy
The Queen of Silver, Argenti
An entire queen? None of the Voids we've met were queens, but I guess the corruption dosn't discern between what it takes. Why is she still called that, though?
Liri turned his attention to the voice and was shocked, "You do not belong to her."

"No, but they do," the Void said.
They, as in, who? Us?

[x] Eone's Garden, The third garden at Luxarc. It is forbidden for students or staff to enter. Reasons unknown.

I am a bit afraid that this is something that could tip the Void off... there has to be a reason why the place is off-limits. Sure Eurytia broke in there almost constantly without any visible consequences to herself or her friends... but she is the one missing now. Although if we want to find out what happened it could be a point in favor rather than against the option.

Why is our ATK lowered?

Tentative plan for tokens...
[x] Tokens
-[x] Nys: 1x20 + 1x10 + 1x5 + 1x1 ATT; 1x20 + 1x15 + 1x5 DEF (+36 ATT, + 40 DEF)
-[x] Liri: 1x15 +1x10 ATT (+25 ATT)

...what does INT do, again?
Nys' role seems to be "survive until you reach the core", which favors DEF. Liri is our powerhorse, but ATT is his weakest stat.
Remaining tokens: 2x 20pts, 2x 15pts, 1x 5pts, 3x 1pts - any ideas for those?
