Mostly, because of Ishmael's work. If we need actionable intelligence then why don't we refer to his report? He did after all repulse the Parkinsons just now. Also, because I want to see how they're doing as council members, so Dace in turn spreads out his espionage focus. After all having knowledge from all groups is better than hyper-focusing on one group.
Is there a reason why you want to spy on Travers? I want to spy on Parkinson so we have actionable intel on what they are doing when we attack them this upcoming turn.
Also, if you or @MARLL could explain your reasoning behind the names you chose, I would appreciate it. Nothing is coming up in any translator I use for them.
Craidd is Welsh for heart, center, middle, core, etc which I like the connotations of.
And Nesaftre is just next (nesaf) plus town (tre). Which should be self explanatory.
After bidding his darling Pansy a good night, he walked down the hall, his face a grimacing mask. This year wasn't kind to him.
While he did get the Dark Lord to deploy him here, he did so with absolutely no support, so he had to use his own fortune and move here himself, but it was worth it in the end.
He reached the small, protected room where the rest of his council of fortune was assembled.
They may not have been the best, but save for the person the Dark Lord sent him, they were all guaranteed to be trustworthy. And if they were not... Well, that's what the imperius is for, isn't it?
"Gentlemen," He started " We are all here for a common goal : the bettering of wizardkind, and each and every one of you has been deemed worthy of helping that glorious cause. This land is to become the very beginning of a glorious nation, but for it to rise, we need to work, bleed, and even kill for it. We are besieged on all sides, our resources, limited, our men, exhausted, but I am sure, that if we give it our best, we will rise to the challenge that is offered to us!"
A polite round of applause followed the mandatory 'hail to the Dark Lord's Cause' speech, and they began to work as they sat.
A squat, balding man began, putting some items on the table. He then nervously produced a handkerchief and wiped his face with it.
"W-well, as you can see, I lead a team to prospect the area. The underground's filled with gold and the stone is good, it should help with the construction, but I investigated the records you obtained from the ministry, and those shouldn't be here..." His voice lowered until it became an inaudible mutter as he seemed to shrink from the attention.
Parkinson nodded regally.
"Very well Arnold, have the muggles build the mines. Fitzgerald, your results?"
The heavyset man in front of it twitched, lifting his face and revealing dark circles beneath his eyes. He blinked for a bit, clear sign that he was asleep, and lifted his paw-like hand to scratch the stubble on his chin.
"Ah, research's advancin', we've cracked ollivander's notes, so we shud be able ter start producshun once we git de resources. "
"Good. Continue with the notes, make sure nothing is ignored."
The thud of a head falling onto the table was his answer.
Then next row of inquiries revealed that the muggles were properly kept under control, the magical school project was beginning to shape up, until the military report came up.
The man hemmed and hawed, but in the end, only one answer came out.
Complete wipe out
Silence reigned in the room for a while, until the leader got over his shock.
"Get out!" He bit out, and his councilors, used to his temper, began to leave. "No, not you." That was aimed to the person on his left, who sat down and waited quietly as the room emptied itself.
Julius Parkinson was angry.
No, angry just didn't cut it.
" What happened to the forces sent at the border?" He hissed, not in the mood for pleasantries after an unforeseen accident caused his latest project to fail.
"They were exterminated. Some of them who we assumed deserted were sent back to us in pieces." Nott answered blandly, eyes scanning the report, pondering on heavens knew what.
Parkinson suddenly rose from his mahogany and velvet chair, throwing his hands in the air and shouting expletives after expletives.
Nott stared, flipping a page, and spoke up again.
"Bulstrode got out of their isolation to hire one of my clansmen. Apparently, they're doing a massive recruitment drive, but other than sending the money, they didn't say why."
Julius looked at the black haired, black eyed female in front of him, before sneering.
"I hope he got his money's worth."
"I suppose so, after all, he did sent over a thousand hundred galleons to Our Lord to make sure of that." She replied, going back to her reading. "Not that you would be interested, of course."
"Of course not!"The man lost his patience, bloody Bulstrode and his extravagant expenses! " That's not what I hired you for ! Where is my intelligence on that man?!"
Nott sighed, stretching and getting up, raising a file.
"Dace Gwallawg, bastard son of Albus Dumbledore and Bridget Gwallawg, half blood, noted to be ambitious, territorial, extremely proud, and suffering from a bad case of ailurophobia. Widowed-"
"Getting out of mourning period, thought to have access to a seer and so on and so on! Give me something concrete!"
"He is known." Continued Nott." To be amassing power. His known nationalism means that he can be expected to try and conquer the rest of Wales before crowning himself its king. In other words, he is going to come to you, preferably the upcoming year, as the conflict with the Black is currently keeping our Lord from giving help to his subjects."
"Yes, he is very occupied, but never to take money from us, what a Lord he is!" Parkinson spat out, before his sight swayed and he fell hardly on the floor. He looked up, wheezing as a foot was firmly planted on his chest, his wand arm bent to the point of pain, and the witch's wand digging into his throat.
"It would do you well to remember who gave you this chance Parkinson. The Dark Lord would hate it if he wasted resources on you." Nott told him in a deathly quiet voice, her black eyes fixed on him like voids empty of light.
Somebody knocked at the door.
"Boss? Everything okay?"
Nott's eyebrow raised and she gave a little smirk. He hated it.
"Yes." He answered, trying very hard to set that woman on flames with his mind.
His guard grunted before walking away. Once they no longer risked being heard, the blasted woman let him go and he got up, dusting himself.
"Yes. So, The little half-breed bastard is going to attack. What's our plan?"
Nott gave him a derisive look as she opened the door.
"That's for you to figure out."
And she walked out.
She walked out on him!
How dare she ?!
"I'll show you what I'm able of, you little tart. Then I'll go to that little bastard of an upstart, I'll take his head, set it on my chimney and have him watch as I feed his little pets to my dogs." He began pacing, his low voice gaining strength. He waved his arm and dummies resembling his nemesis appeared. He whipped out his wand and set the first one in flames. " I will destroy your army." Another was blasted into dust. " I will crush your city." The next one was warmed into an unrecognizable mess. "I will find you." The last one was thrown towards the wall, before it flopped to the ground, as Parkinson walked up to it and began to stab it with a dagger he conjured. "I will bring you before me, I will make you beg and I will laugh at your face before spooning your eyes out. Then I will make you hear as I strangle your son, I will make you eat your daughter's heart, and when you beg for death I will laugh at your face and lock you up in the dungeons and I will torture you for the rest of your miserable existence!" After a final stab to the dummy, he let go of the weapon and sat down on the floor, before looking at the destroyed body of the dummy and Dace's face.
Then, Parkinson smiled.
Dace wasn't quite sure what to think of what he saw as he woke up, but one thing was sure, Parkinson needed to go, for the sake of his peace of mind.
Huh, we got all our recruitment, nice, good resources, the gold will help... Nott continues to be best girl... Wait what? What was that thing with Gwallawg!
Remind me why we're doing this again? Are we trying to get killed? If you want people to be more invested in your quest you need to stop writing so much cringe-inducing stupidity Zebra.
I'd say evacuate Pansy and our personnel, then use all our resources to reinforce. Voldemort's spies on the Black indicate that they're about to win, what with Longbottom wrecking Nott and Flint, so we need to hang on until we get rescued.
Besides, running away won't help, we'll need our military and ninjas with us. We'll just throw bodies at the problem when it comes knocking. I mean, he's a principled bastard, right? If we throw a bunch of imperio-ed muggles at him, he's going to pull his punches.
Fair enough : Dace (17/14/20/30/29/22/33), Diplo : Nil, St : 30, Martial : 20, Int : 28, Learning: Nil, Mysticism : 40. You are also going to die very much
Discord Negaverse format, because I like the irony of the situation.
Also, first quote pretty much is Dace's vision (just ignore the numbers, or not, they're actually kind of important)
Joke, but most of the reactions and planning is the same as what actually happened. Then numbers are the real deal though. The advantage and inconvenient of the death eaters is that they're all connected, so by spying on one, you've got good chances of getting intel on all. the inconvenient is that they're a coalition, so if they all come at you at the same time, you're toasted.
The underground's filled with gold and the stone is good...the records you obtained from the ministry...we've cracked ollivander's notes...Bulstrode got out of their isolation to hire one of my clansmen. Apparently, they're doing a massive recruitment drive, but other than sending the money, they didn't say why...[Dace] is going to come to you, preferably the upcoming year...the conflict with the Black is currently keeping our Lord from giving help to his subjects... I strangle [Dace's] son...
I'd say evacuate Pansy and our personnel, then use all our resources to reinforce... We'll just throw bodies at the problem when it comes knocking...If we throw a bunch of imperio-ed muggles at him, [Dace]'s going to pull his punches...
So, analysis time. Dyfed has a lot of gold which will be great for us, as it's our greatest weakness right now. But more importantly, Parkinson has records from the ministry, and ollivander's notes. Hopefully we can grab them in the chaos of wrecking their shit.
We also got some information on Bulstrode, the are hiring a lot of people, and the other families don't know why but we do. They are searching for the Nature anchor, and are expecting some sort of fight.
Parkinson is also expecting us to attack next turn, which is correct, but they also don't have any reinforcements coming, since Volde is currently having trouble against the Black. So to make up for that, they're going to imperio a bunch of muggles to use as meat shields against us, and are probably evacuate some people to safety.
The most worrying bit, is that Parkinson somehow knows about Dace's son. I don't know how, considering he was only created a few months ago, and I don't think Dace would reveal his existence unless forced.
There was a cold feeling in the air, and it was not just the temperature. The people were hiding, in building or places where the monster couldn't find them, and the radiation couldn't kill them. Only does with a deathwish or the means to protect themselves still ventured outside. One such man, Igor Victorovich, was in a bar nursing his drink. Sparks could be seen glimmering around him and the other characters in the tavern as the radiation failed to harm them.
"Comrade Igor, still alive I see. I sure you would be snoring in grave" The man known as Alexei sat down on the chair on the opposite of him, with his own drink.
" No such luck. To thick-skinned. Claws ineffectual. Not even good for shaving" Igor smiled as he pointed to his beard.
"Lets cut to the chase friend. I come with big opportunity. New masters. The government is weak. They not deserve you. My new employer has money, has power, has territory, has vodka, and has enemies. They have everything you need for better life. "
Igor pushed himself higher, winched as his legs trembled with the pain of an old injury. He grimaced. The worried look on Alexei's face. "Old wounds still aching," Igor said.
"We were young, we were foolish. The marks of the last war still remain no. For those who fought against and with him." A small smile brushed past his face as his eyes had the look of someone staring into the past. "So what you say? Deal?" "
Igor went into thought. What opportunities where there. The government had failed. Both of them. Half the country was in ruins, and the land scorched from the Muggles self-brought destruction. It didn't even work. There was an opportunity here. Who cares if he had to work for some shady individual. It was not like it was the first time this had happened.
" I would like that"
"Great, let us go say hi to Squirrel Overlords and tell them good news. "

Slowly but surely, the world is settling. At least within Dace's territory. It's still very chaotic outside, but having food to eat and a safe roof over their heads did wonders to the people's morale. Sally's inquiries opened a few options, though they are too many for Dace to handle on his own.

Cost : 0
40% Chances of success.
Reward : Politics of the town mapped out, nascent 'undesirable' movements squashed.
[] Pruning (Write-in movement). Some movements are just too dangerous to be allowed to exist, so Dace decided to simply get rid of them. (Royalists approve, Democrats disapprove)

Reward : Movement destroyed and unable to be re-created openly. Movement may be completely wipes out

After The-Incident-That-Shall-Never-Be-Mentioned, Ava and Myriam are at eachother's throat. While it doesn't impact directly their work, the lack of cooperation may cause problems to appear. At the very least, the fact that the situation is no longer in the red helped to calm them down.

A few animation and/or levitation spells can go a long way towards speeding up construction or cutting down the costs. Ishmael : 36 + 70 (Stealth) + 20 (safety) – 120 (enemy attempt roll 80 + 40 (stealth)) = bare pass. Ishmael and his men managed to repeal an infiltration attempt on Gwynedd, however, due to a contrived chain of events, involving bad weather, a bad case of hay fever and a flock of swallows, the wannabe infiltrators managed to escape, though, Ishmael is certain they came from South-East.
With more help, Ishmael was finally able to work to his heart's content. He seems pretty happy about it, if Dace read him correctly, though his subordinates seem to suffer quite a bit. Huh, so that's how pity feels like...
[Rumor mill]
-There have been words of secretive things happening in Strathearn, more accurately in the place they built, Bull's Rest. Not only have they been inviting manpower and resources, but according to the rumors, they seem to have installed a caste system, with wizards on top. The shocking thing is that the muggles don't get mistreated. The Bulstrode are up to something but their behavior is downright Bizarre.
-The battle rages in Northumberland, where the Black seem intent to fight the Dark lord's forces to the bitter end. It is expected that they will fall this year, however, some signs point to the family disappearing in the same fashion ans the other ones, should they be defeated..

It is still valid for those intending to build wide, however, the maintenance costs and uncertain FB bonus means building it can be crippling without a strong economy.

[] The old tales are sometimes true. (write-in. Must be something Dace came in contact with.)
The Gwallawg library may not be the biggest, but all of it is true, which is more than any other library can boast.
[] The Old kingdom. The enemy they're confronted to is old, very old, from an era thought lost. However, now, Dace knows better. The enmy was vanquished once already, time to try and find out what's needed to do it twice.
[] Look for Scythe. That elusive individual may or may not still be alive, but if he is, chances are he has all the answer Dace needs.
10% Chances of succes.
Reward: Scythe found.
[] Research. What it says on the tin. Has various results. (Uses Research skill + city's research) (the latter is automated and will be used regardless of whether action is taken or not.) Due to high research total score, you have 20 research excess points that will be attributed to designated research subject. Please input between 1 and 3 techs so that the points will be attributed automatically in case of excess.
-[] Muggle subjects
[][Sally] Secret mission! Dace sends Sally hunt down artifacts. Results variable.
[][Sally] In the name of Science Magic!: Sally can train mechanical and magical units, for a value of 97 points per turn (Utility magic + magical combat / 2)
[][Sally] Aeons Lost : Sally has the little known ability of being able to use any spell she learns without distinction, be it regular wizarding magic, the strange 'order magic' of the red sons, or even nonhuman ones, as she demonstrated her ability to cast a veela fireball. As such, there is a very real possibility of her being able to resurrect the Ancient Kingdom's magic... [Quest : May allow Sally to act as a Willpower-type advisor, may turn Sally into a Hero Unit, may cause Sally's death.]
Dace has yet to meet Sally...Again. It was almost as if she was avoiding him. Still, She did an alright job handling his affairs, and didn't set the library on fire. Or steal books. He'll still need to have a word with her about obeying Ishmael's orders over his.
[] Anchor hunting. Dace remembers those, and the power they bring to bear. However, he still needs to look for them.
-[] Write in Anchor type ( Order, Death, Chaos, Nature or Life)
85% Chance of success.
[] Anchor creation II : The research has been completed and triple checked to make sure there was no sabotage. Now though, Dace was left with a transparent, completely blank cube. According to the notes his elusive assistant left, what were needed now were patterns, and a power source to 'kickstart the generator'. The former was simple enough, get his hands on an anchor and have it cannibalized for data to copy, then fill the 'slots' with what he wanted. Or create everything himself from the ground up... It would fit his narrative of a self-made man. The energy source left him stumped. -Data : Cannibalize [Needs Anchor] -Data : Create : Write-in -Energy : Tap into one of the 4 remaining energies
--[] Write-in name -Energy: Look for alternative sources.
[] Dissection. Dace knows his enemy, and knows, more or less, how it works. He also knows he's resistant to the stuff, so why not get a sample and try to see what makes it tick in more detail.
20% Chances of success.
Costs: 5,000G, 1x Elemental stone.
[] The shattered tower. The warning was heard, however, Dace doesn't know anything about it. No where, no when, no how and no why. His current theory is about it being a nexus of some sort. Still, just because he would heed the warning, didn't mean anyone else would.
40% Chances of success.
Willpower :Advisor : No-One. Actions : 2 (Dace 25+)
Bonus:
+20 To all rolls involving the outside world (Ishmael)
Without Dace doing anything about it, it couldn't really advance.
[] When there's a will, there's a way. There must be someone who has an idea of how it's done, right?
Cost : 0 – 100,000 G
10 / 0 % Chances of success
[] Will training. Running around with uncontrolled magic is dangerous for everyone.
--[] Offensive spells
--[] Environmental spells
--[] Defensive spells
Cost : 0
50% Chances of success
Reward : increased skill.
[] The Heroes' guild I. He'd seen the name several times during previous research, and knew it was an organization similar to the current magical schools, albeit a lot more mercenary, and that it was dissolved due to its master's hands off policy towards its 'alumni''s behavior, but the more practical knowledge and precise history elude him.
Cost : 0
40% Chances of success.
Reward : The Heroes' guild II available, Dace may unlock other people's willpower.
Personal: 6
[] Spend time with Social Links.(+2 RP)
-[]Write-in
[] Personal supervision. Supervise an action from the other sections. Gain +10 to rolls if Stewardship or Diplomacy action, +20 if Martial, Leraning or Mysticism action, +30 if Intrigue action. (May be used multiple times, but not on the same actions.)
[] Investigate the illness. Dace is dying, he even knows in detail how his body is going to breakdown, however, he is unsure as to how he will remedy this.
70/40% chances of success
Reward: Dace may start working on a cure.
[] Met your son : He made it, he might as well owe up to it.
Reward : Draidd SL opened.
[] Visions or reality? : Dace dreams. When he dreams, he sees things. Is it the stress, or is there something more at play ?
Trade routes :
A few trade routes have become available in this troubled time. While it serves to exchange resources, the influx of goods means that both sides will profit economically too.
-[] Bulstrode : Has heard of Dace and his territory's stability and as such, would like to engage in trading.

Votes by plan, end in 72 hours, interesting rolls this turn. I rolled over the intrigue options in the agency because Dace is going to be too busy to run around himself, now that he's got minions to do stuff for him.
A lot of stuff here, and a lot of questions. Will take a look on it tomorrow. The only solid thing we must have is the college. We need those advisors it produces .
How did the debt mechanic work. We are going to go in minus no matter what.

For information not from the Discord, the dice have spoken, and the real 3 wife choices will appear at the end of the turn. I'd have revealed the numbers for them too, so I guess this is just a preview...
Though, if you consider the results of the Q&A I posted, are you absolutely sure you wish to remarry? (asking so that Penguin doesn't have any possible responsibility in this anymore)
corrected, also, I don't know how long my insomnia will last, it is an uni day, even if I'm sick. (At least I'm not sleep deprived enough that I don't know what I write anymore).
Also, yeah, disappointed by the lack of discussion here about the Q&A implications, but meh. I can still top it off easily.
