"My, is that not interesting my child? You sure are a popular one nowadays. Or unpopular. Nevertheless, good job!"
Silence.
"Someone's feeling catty today~ The stench of Despair, my, I'm starting to feel peckish now~"
Silence.
"Awww, but it's time to eat, no?"
Silence.
"You're no fun. Good thing I don't answer to you!"
Silence.
"But everyone else is already here, you know? O-Oh... You didn't know that. My bad~! I'll just see myself out and say hello to my kid!"
The wondering Wanderer wanders.
Dace blinked.
Frank had just finished healing Regulus and they were preparing to ride again when the subject of the missing Abbott came up again.
The choice to look for Serafina was a unanimous one, though he didn't agree with it internally, as it would both take time and no doubt turn into a hostage situation. Which would take even more time. However, he did not fancy going off on his own, considering the kind of creatures roaming around and therefore, he agreed with the rest of the group, if only to assuage their worries. Bellatrix Black began muttering, waving her wand until she lifted her head.
"Little Angel is in the eastern forest~"
Just as she said those words, a scream tore through the air, SouthEast of them. Aife seemed to be able to recognize the scream, as her lips set in a thin, displeased line. It seemed like they had found their missing member. Riding on their transfigured horses, courtesy of the half-dead Regulus, they hurried traveling down the path, until they faced the forest, Dace throwing one last, mournful look at the path Hufflepuff used to run away, footsteps turning into pawprints.
Something else to keep in mind, it seemed.
The forest was dark, darker than it should be for that age and type of vegetation, he remembered, and, concentrating on what he used to feel in his last life, he could see the regular usual emerald tendrils were a sickly brown mottled with black. Not even the Death-tainted nature of the Fortress, already ominously colored like dying leaves, looked that unsettling.
He took a breath and felt his stomach rebel against him, reaching for a power he knew no longer dwelled within.
Annoyance battled with uneasiness and he fought his instinct to flee.
This was a terrible idea.
Leaves were whispering without wind and he stopped his horse, the rest of the group ahead of him. Perhaps it was because of his memories, or simple instinct or even self-preservation.
"Treants." He hissed, causing Bellatrix to turn around, her serious demeanor back.
"What?"
It all came together now.
"It's a ploy to slow us down. Camouflaged treants along the way to Serafina. They'll root and stop us. It doesn't even matter if they die one by one, as long as they stop us one at a time. If we proceed with this plan, Hufflepuff will run."
"Should have watched your son more closely then." She answered mercilessly, before squeezing her horse's flank, causing it to advance once more as she turned back to look in front of her. Still, she looked warier than before, which meant this wasn't a complete loss.
Aife sighed, before throwing a baleful look in Dace's direction.
"I put her in that situation, the least I could do is to not abandon her to her fate."
Longbottom didn't even bother to answer and Dace had to swallow his retort. The forest was looming over them, frail rays of sunlight barely breaking through the canopy, only to be swallowed by the mist, which gave it a gloomy and almost claustrophobic feeling. The fake horses didn't make any noise, there was no wind, no birds, no nothing, save for an echoing high pitched giggled and the distinct impression they were being observed. After a few minutes that seemed to be hours, they found Serafina unconscious to the ground. Aife immediately dismounted and rushed towards the woman's side. Her eyes fluttered a bit, but other than speaking in a low voice, she didn't do more. His wayward daughter's lips thinned, but she said nothing as she hauled the Abbott matriarch up as if she was no heavier than a pillow, and carefully set her behind Regulus before riding out.
Paranoia was at an all-time high as they rode full speed outside of the forest when they came upon an empty, lifeless field. It wasn't that there was no vegetation, though it didn't help, but rather that the soil was grey, there was no wind, and Dace could see come bones jutting out of the ground. Memories came back to the forefront and he mentally swore. The land of the Dead...
The grey field expanded as far as he could see, with the sea being visible on the north, hills being the only things with the ruined, deserted city, that obstructed his view.
He couldn't see any signs of life.
Wait, not quite. He could see several adults, one of them carrying an unconscious child, walking away from them.
While their presence seemed suspicious here, Dace already knew that Hufflepuff had turned into a badger, and while the traces were still faint, they were still there. He promptly ignored them, as a witch of Hufflepuff's talent no doubt could have faked them just in case. He was humming and wondering for a while. A badger can't be that fast, and magical means of transportation don't work here, meaning he finally had some time to think.
To his right, Regulus was wheezing and holding his head while his body seemed about to fall. Dace caught him before he fell and managed to get a view of his solid blue eyes before the man closed them and turned his head away from him towards the Longbottom, whose eyebrow raised in surprise.
"Sorry about that. Hufflepuff is heading-"
The shrieking of air and the flash of a spell had them turn towards the left, where Bellatrix just launched a spell in the direction of the group. Then something strange happened, as while sanity seemed to be a luxury most Black couldn't afford, power was something they had in spades, and a spell suddenly fizzling out of existence wasn't exactly common. Having Ishmael in his employ, he immediately recognized that this group probably harbored one of those magic-immune 'Blanks', as people had taken to calling them.
Aife shouted and tried to call Bellatrix back, in vain, and Dace was left with a decision to take: Continue the chase or try helping with the fight.
The choice was taken out of his hand when he heard a shrill scream, similar to the sound one would produce by dragging a nail across a chalkboard's surface. He turned towards that direction and saw what could only be called an army...
But not any army, he realized, looking at it more closely. At its front was a tall creature clad in black with glowing red eyes. Behind it was a veritable sea of bodies. Even from what he could see, there were at least ten thousand of them here. Possibly even more.
"Can't-Sirius-here-grk-" At that moment, Regulus whined in pain while holding his head, before almost choking on his own tongue. Then Bellatrix fell off her horse after a particularly well-placed bullet caused her shield to explode. A one-armed muggle leaped forwards, took the horse and began galloping away as a shockwave of some sort of energy paralyzed them all, and all Dace could see was the tides of what his sense informed him were undead were approaching.
Then, from the North comes another scream, as inhuman as the last one, as a pillar of darkness reached up to the sky, before ballooning and blowing up, revealing an island to the distance upon which sat a bone white fortress. Dace recognized it. It was Lundy Island and Riddle's fortress. Above the necropolis, a giant chunk of black stone was floating in the air, pulsating with malicious energy and, directly in front of it, a skeleton in ornated robes was staring down at the field.
The paralysis suddenly wore off as the dead reached him, and his instincts took over immediately. Dace forced the horse to back off, only for it to fall to the ground, its flanks already attacked by the ravenous undead.
Getting up wasn't too hard, he wasn't injured in the fall. However, as he was running back, he noticed he had been separated from the group.
The walls of the necropolis had fallen, revealing a massive amount of ghosts, who poured out like a river of egg whites and clashed against the undead. A shockwave of purple energy appeared due to the strength of the clash. Once, the ground darkened and took a purple tint. Twice, the sky darkened and took a green color. As the third clash happened, however, everything, from the ground to the ghosts, to the undead, the water, and the sky, was covered in dark purple veins.
Dace took a step back, and a squishing noise had him look down, leading him to see that he stepped on some sort of sack filled with what seemed to be blood.
The creatures on the edges of the fight weren't affected by the latest consequence of the fight, but the ones in the middle, on the other hand...
The armies weren't clashing anymore, they were folding, similarly to cloth you would drag up from the center.
The mass of flesh was squirming and warping, slowly changing and merging into a tower that aimed to reach the sky. It was impossibly tall, looking more like a snake jumping up, until it hit some sort of upper limit, a massive thudding noise as it did making Dace's bones rattle. Then, the tower opened its mouth and latched on that barrier, purple veins spreading around it, then stopping.
*Ahem* Test test 1-2, is it working now? It does! Sorry for interrupting your scheduled zombie apocalypse~ Buuut, there's something interesting you should see, watch!
Helga Hufflepuff looked at the scene apathetically, from the top of a nearby hill, well away from the field. She wiped the dirt off her robe, ignoring the badger-sized hole in the ground right next to her, and stared more closely.
"Oh dear, this doesn't look good at all." She commented as her hand reached inside her robes, revealing a black sphere. "I didn't want to use it for that, but it can't be helped~."
She held her palm horizontally, and she very clearly enunciated [Containment] as the tower prepared to rise. The sphere began floating before it took on two colors. One emeral green, the other dark purple; and the sphere broke horizontally. The purple half lodged itself in the tower and it screamed, the sky becoming just a bit clearer, and the ground just a bit softer, while the green half went far, far North, sailing towards a fortress still in construction and landing in the central plaza like a Meteor, before dissolving into a perfect emerald circle.
Inside the tower, a dark humanoid shape saw two black cubes roll and fall to the ground, before sinking in, eliciting a howl of rage from their owner as in a northern plaza, two emerald cubes emerged from the emerald circle.
Dace ran as fast as he could towards the forest. He didn't fancy his chances against the undead who were spreading around, no longer in a single direction. He hoped the fairies wouldn't try anything as he passed.
That's when he was jumped on by a slobbering, shrieking creature. A snapping noise had his stomach fall to rock bottom. His wand just broke. He tried to get the undead creature off him, but it just growled and bit him.
Dace screamed and tried harder to fight off the thing biting his neck before it did too much damage when a bell-like squeak sound reached his ear and the undead was pushed off him, before a group of shadow fairies fell down on it, tiny fists covered in light sparkles, killing the thing. Dace felt an intense burning on his neck and lifted a hand to it, thankfully the bite was shallow, sat up and just looked at the fairy who landed on his knee.
It was a very smug-looking fairy.
More moaning was heard and he turned his head to see an almost solid block of undead heading his way. Then, roots shot up, entangling them as the very forest around him woke up.
The fairy punched him in the nose, not even causing him any pain, and squeaked again, demanding he paid attention to her.
She then began floating, her fairy sisters lifting him up the ground, though they struggled with his weight, and carried him to the edge of the territory when he could see no more traces of Death magic. As the fairies dropped him onto the ground, he heard a familiar wail, as Craidd was unceremoniously dropped onto his lap.
The fairy mimed a pop with her mouth and he got the message.
Side-along apparition was risky, but in the present situation, he had no choices. He had lots of questions, but right now safety first. He visualized the infirmary, selected it as his destination and-PAIN
The liquid fire in his neck distracted him at a critical moment and he felt himself being torn into two. The nurse screamed upon seeing him, and he blacked out due to the pain. He hated splinching.
Craidd looked at the people going on around him. He was a lot smarter than what people said you know? He just couldn't be bothered with paying attention to people when there were so many floating shiny people around!
They always told him the best stories!
Right now though, he was behaving. Lots of people were crying, but he didn't really understand why. Dace was here, after all, still breathing. Wasn't it enough already? He wondered, looking at the sleeping form of his father.
Besides, he's not that great you know! The nurse said he'd likely never wake up! How lazy could he get?!
Sally came and kneeled in front of him to explain things. He liked Sally, she smelled nice, and the glowing people and the One-eyed man also said they liked her. Ava was weird at times, but really fun too! But that was it, really. People aren't all that nice. They always look at him in a non-fun way, so he sticks with Ava and Sally.
"Hey there Craidd." Sally smiled at him.
"Hello!" Craidd answered in the correct way. Good boys need to speak correctly!
"Do you want me to read something to you?"
"Um." Craidd nodded happily, looking at the strange bracelet she wore, It took all of her 'forearm' and it smelled a lot like metal. It had glowing things on it too, and it was filled with very thick needles. Sally said it was what helped her go over her shyness and made her safe around him, so he didn't say anything.

Ava and Myriam are the characters with the best Stewardship and while Myriam's is better she also has low diplomacy compared to Ava. Diplomacy and just generally working with people will be more useful in this overall situation so Ava has my vote for regent.
Choose an educator for Craidd:
[X] Sally
Look at her stats. She is good at minimum with everything. A teacher who has no weak points is amazing to have as an educator unit for Craidd.
Oh right, don't forget to check out our new character sheet! Craidd's our PC, so we should really learn what tools we have to use to survive this mess!
It took all of her 'forearm' and it smelled a lot like metal. It had glowing things on it too, and it was filled with very thick needles. Sally said it was what helped her go over her shyness and made her safe around him, so he didn't say anything.
After Dace's will was read (he may still wake up, but the hope of this happening wouldn't be of any help here), it was decided that Ava would be the one to take the lead of the council, and as such, would become regent for Dace's heir, Craidd who, while he was a bright child, he was one year old.
The very first thing Ava Lloyd was confronted to, was the immediate outcry from two of her fellow councilors, Angus and Myriam. Angus because, for some reason, he expected to be chosen, and Myriam on principle since it meant Ava was the winner. Before she could even explain, the two stormed out in anger.
Ava sighed. This was going to be a chore.
She immediately sat down at Dace's desk and went over the documents, until she received preliminary reports of what was happening. Upon reading it, her brow immediately furrowed.
Apparently, something happened this Spring, something that wiped out the entire population of Winchester, and turned them into a swarm of ravenous undead. Then, as Dace went to rescue Craidd, said undead managed to move through an entire county and attack a necropolis at sea nobody was aware existed.
Something was off with this, she decided as she immediately got up and power walked through the manor until she reached the agency's headquarters.
Half an hour later, she was looking apathetically as one of the remaining agents was gunned down. There was a traitor in their midst that somehow passed thought Ishmael's screening. 'Traitor' may be a bit too strong though, as when interrogated, the agent in question immediately tried to commit suicide upon hearing the name 'Hufflepuff'.
That certainly explained why such information never reached them, and she already knew getting all the intelligence the spy hid from them would be a hassle.
Now that was done with, she had to deal with the fallout of the revelation that an entire county was wiped off the map in one day, and that the world was likely ending. As it was for a few years already... Hmmm. She could probably make that work!

Loyalty rolls:

It did work! Good. Well, it's not like they were panicking, to begin with, as they were starting to live with it and move on, and she had to make a few promises, like every good politician, but she should be able to keep them if she uses her own moneymaking abilities, so everything went pretty well!
But nevermind that, she had to get her ducks in a row, which seemed to be a good idea, as when she decided to check the barracks, she chanced upon Angus trying to get the militia behind him to launch a coup d'état. It was pretty clear to her what would have happened if he got the Regency.
Ava approached, seeing the very annoyed militiamen, and added a little sashay to her hips, taking on her famous sultry expression and lowering her voice a bit. The fact that she was very tall for a woman helped with getting her noticed.
"Is there a problem, gentlemen?" she purred, looking around at the group as if she had no idea what was happening. The fact she caught several of the young recruits fresh out of an exercise an unexpected bonus. Those were some nice muscles here~ My, she had no idea they had such cuties over here, perhaps she should come back and visit later to...have a little chat~?
'Wait, no, Ava, you have a job, don't get distracted here!' Her conscience immediately slapped her upside the head and she sighed mentally. She never had time to had fun nowadays~
The instructor threw her a look saying he knew what she was thinking about and disapproved, before standing straight.
"The man was trying to incite us to commit mutiny, Ma'am!"
"Oh~?" She folded an arm under her chest and put a gloved finger on her lower lip, looking at the gathering with half-closed eyes. "And are our men receptive?"
"No, Ma'am!" Was the immediate response and she gave out a pleased smile, inclining her torso a bit. She always got a laugh out of seeing men's (and the occasional women's) eyes instantly go down.
"Good~ Well then, would you mind taking care of this one?" She pointed towards the fuming Angus. "For me? I would hate to know what he would do to a weak lady like myself~ " She said while hugging her arms and 'accidentally' thrusting her 'assets' forwards. She was laying it on a bit thick but needs must at this point. Then, she put on an expression as if she forgot about something. "Oh but, if he goes, there will be no one to take care of those military matters~" She openly pouted now, waiting for an answer.
The instructor stepped forwards and stood at attention.
"With all my respect, Ma'am! I don't trust any of them not to fall to your feminine wiles!" A roar of laughs and wolf whistles came from the onlookers and Ava giggled.
"Oh my, what a flatterer you are~"
Honestly, though, the challenge was welcome, the more she has to work for it, the sweeter the reward in the end after all~
Recruited William Collins as a martial advisor!
The next one was Myriam, who was drunk in her office. The stench of alcohol was potent, but not unexpected from that low-class alcoholic. Ava just sighed and sent instructions to the medical staff. That was on mess to many, she frowned as she looked at a few sheets.
If Myriam couldn't bring results, she would have to go. The situation was delicate enough as is, and Ava didn't have the time anymore to go behind her and clean up her messes.
One day later, Ava was regretting ever accepting the job.
"...Could you repeat, please?" She asked because surely, she heard that wrong. The agent gave her a knowing and pitying glance. Ah, this was the one who was in charge of smoothing things over after Ishmael's paranoid' rampages.
"Yes, Madam. The military expedition was a failure. The Red Sons ended their contract with us, the forces we sent there were wiped out, and Ishmael is MIA."
Of all the times-! She glanced at the hesitating agent.
"Out with it sweetie, I only bite for fun times."
"The government fell to the panic, there was a massive riot, and a few wizards unleashed some spells that had... Unfortunate consequences."
Ava stared.
"Afterwards, the people sent emissaries, because they're technically very close to the tower, and while the others refused, we were under orders from your predecessor to accept."
Ava stared harder.
"There, our emissaries met two people. They are here, and they bring items with them but... there's something off with them, and preliminary checks revealed that they genuinely think it is the truth... And it fits with some secret notes found within his desk, in a secret compartment."
"Well then. It would be rude to let our guests wait for too long." Ava got up, walked towards the courtyard and stared even harder.
There were two people here. Both of them looked like what one would think to be a druid. The man was slouching and looked like he was about to go to sleep any minute now, while the girl seemed to be tense. She could understand that. Clearing her throat, she called out to the two of them.
"Welcome, My name is Ava Lloyd. I heard you had something of interest to bring to my attention?"
So they did.
Ava sort of understood Myriam's fascination with alcohol now.

She allowed them to visit Dace under heavy guard and restraints, while she continued speaking with the ministry representative. The man looked glad he could hand that responsibility to someone else, and handed her a golden necklace, a family heirloom, he said. She stared at it, two golden wings surrounding a ruby. An unamused blond haired, muscular angel came into view, clad in full-plate armor and wielding a wavy blade.
"What are you doing in my territory?"
Now now Gabe, don't be so sour! We even come bearing presents! Watch!
A fluffy, squirrel-like tail came into view.
Hey! No peeping at a lady's tail! Though, if you really insist, I'll let you touch it. N-Not because I l-l-l-l-like you or anything! Kya~How embarrassing~
"Enough." The angel frowned, his voice now carrying a rather unsettling echo to it, and his sword smoking and starting to generate sparks.
Geez Louise, you really are a party-pooper, aren't you? Well, to the present it is! Watch here~

The young woman was on her back, her equally young opponent giving her a hand to help her up.
"I believe that's 5-4 in my favor."
"I didn't know you forgot how to count, that's obviously in mine!" She answered, feigning a look of irritation, but accepting help anyways. "So, how's your sister doing?" They began to walk out of the training room, towards a common area, where drinks were already served. Mostly plain water, but with the occasional fruit juice.
"You know how it is Sam, 'girl stuff'" He rolled his eyes." She thinks I'll break her hidden boyfriend's face or something."
"I think he needs to worry about Lorena first," Sam answered wryly, as she watched the blond nun fall face first into a bookshelf, causing it to topple and fall onto her, burying her under a sea of books. The youths cringed before the boy called out.
"You okay Lorena?"
"Yes! I'm alright!" A small, white hand peeked out of the book pile, before the bookshelf began to rose, revealing that the nun was currently lifting it one-handedly. Meanwhile, the two sat down, having taken their drinks, then the girl made a strangled noise, reaching for her throat, and fell down convulsing.
Both the nun and the boy immediately were to her side.
"What's happening? She was alright just a second ago!"
"Did she drink something-" The blond's eyes turned towards the glass and she paled. "Oh no! I forgot I left that experiment here!" She began panicking, causing the young man to panic too.
"Why would you let a dangerous experiment around people?!"
"I don't know! I forgot okay?!" The girl's harm began waving around knocking down the door while the young man began carrying his fallen comrade and followed Lorena.

The sound of metal sliding through the air could be heard.
Ow! W-wait! It's not what you- be careful with that! you could have taken my head!
"That would be the point." The angel answered, before his fully ignited sword arced once more.
Children are watching you stupid pigeon! Featherbrain! Kya! be careful with that!
The Archangel took the black sphere and took one look at it.
"I see."
The orb ignited with golden light, as he let go of it and it sailed towards the laboratory.

The human girl's form was twitching and twisting, becoming stronger looking each second, legs and hips shifting to accommodate a runner's build.
"I-I think it's working!" The blond nun was monitoring her, hand surrounded by a white light that spread to the patient.
"What is?" Answered the young man, arms crossed
"My Rebirth Elixir! It was something I was doing on the side to see if I couldn't cure congenital diseases and genetic problems."
"She didn't have any, though?" his brow furrowed.
"Yes! It's possibly a side effect but! That means it's a success! If there's nothing to repair, that means it will enhance!"
"Enhance what?"
"Genetics! Ooooh, I must tell father Van Helsing immediately! Keep an eye on Samantha, she'll be alright, but that's urgent!"
The nun ran out.
***
Yes, Father Van Helsing~, that's urg-gkh!
"BEGONE!" The archangel's sole met the squirrel's face and the beast was catapulted, flying away towards a direction unknown.
His eyes turned towards ??????????
Then, his boot was introduced to ?????????? face too.
Craidd woke up wailing this morning, and Sally didn't quite know how to remedy to that. Still, he calmed down after a few hours, though she had to coax him a lot. She was currently having him sitting on her lap, while Ava, with her eyes closed, gave her a briefing of what was going on. She felt a slight sting on her arm, meaning it was time for her hourly dose, and an uncomfortable chill invaded her, before settling down. She didn't enjoy the pain or the cold but, looking at the little boy, she knew she made the right choice.
He was alone, after all.
Yet, things had to move on, and after everything, choices needed to be made.

IF [Get involved] Was chosen, you may take: (more actions chosen mean more time taken)
[]Try to find out more about what is happening

[] Send People (write-in. In case of recruiting, note it too)
Additionally, you may choose a pov character for the event!
[]Write-in
IF[Wait it out] Was chosen, Turn system will resume, but you will have lost the chance to influence results.
Well then, one last turn before complete chaos resume sounds fun to me! 24h votes? (meanwhile, time to suffer while updating info section. Yeeeeey.)
So the question is if we want to interfere with the scenario at all.
Presumbably this is referring to the zombie outbreak and Tower of Babel getting formed. Dangerous situations for sure, but are they large scale enough that we need to help in them? That's the main thing we need to be asking ourselves.
[X]Get involved.
-[X] Recruit maximum amount of Scrap Golems, to supplement Militia Forces and Internal Security.
-[X] Reach out for possible allies
--[X] Specifically make contact with Aife, Longbottom (be professional!), and any of the Pureblood families that don't seem like a terrible idea. Also send out feelers for any sort of Anti-Zombie Coalition that may be forming.
---[X] If anyone in particular is having trouble with staying organised/not-panicked during this, have a decision point on what to do about it.
--[X] Send People: Urie, Sharon, and possible additional forces depending on what we learn, to meet up with the people on the front line and help establish a safe area for the united forces to work from. Once that's established we can use that as a base to help push into the undead area to help cull them. This would make the area safer long term while the united forces plan to investigate, and potential destroy the tower. Urie's Wolves will act as an escort for him during these operations and he is encouraged to Summon as many as possible.
--[X] Send resources: To be determined once we have an idea ICly of what's going on.
[X] POV: Urie, or whomever Panda thinks would be most interesting for is to watch from that doesn't risk Void corruption.
Arguments:
To bring Urie: Nature and Life are the best against undead and with Frank occupied for now, there needs to be a unit on the front lines that can deal with them. Our best bet for that is Urie (plus the Necromancy Ward) and frankly this military support, when coupled when asking around for allies and sending resource support, gives us the best chance of making long term allies which we need.
Resources: We need this defense to succeed so we don't all die so this is self preservation.
Allies: Helps us potentially gain allies long term and even in the short term it helps make sure that there is support to help deal with the present threats proactively from everyone rather than turtling.
Scrap Golems: They're cheap and help pad numbers when we desperately need numbers.
PoV: I can't think of anything creative and my brain is dead. This is basically Pawn's plan anyway with me slapping a couple extra words and scrap golems onto it.
