Sweet Arceus I thought Drilbur was the one who could learn Rock Slide not Roland.
On a more serious note, yeah this is way different than last time. If i remember correctly the previous plans was a 3 way neck to neck between Song of Roland, Herbal Cat Therapy and the lost woods one that won (cant remember the exact name); and hey at least its nowhere near as close as Rock vs. Mole vote ( from gremlin vs fire kid to rock vs. Mole, pokemon just brings the weirdest out of people)

I think we're all reasonably concerned about Roland's state of mind, whereas Renne is...well we've got stuff we need to talk about with her, but she doesn't have a major televised match coming up tomorrow.

And we can have social actions with both Renne and Drillbur tomorrow, but we can't do that with Roland and another of our Pokémon. When we're expecting another day with more free actions tomorrow, it just makes sense.

So, the big question: how did we do on our tasks?

Also the gym battle, but I expect a strategy vote before we actually battle, considering how big of a deal it is. So the results of that aren't coming out next update.

Well if I recall correctly, either marianna or one of the others from our group passed the dc for our mandatory and optional task so far, if we pass this last one and Friday's (I think), we should get that s-rank
I meant the Thursday tasks. The ones that have already been locked in via vote but haven't been rolled for yet? I know we beat all of the others.

I am really nervous about the Mandatory Task, though. That DC is brutal for our whole team. I'm not confident on us beating it.

The optional task is going to be a cakewalk, though. We have too many high-skill characters on too low of a DC to not pass it on anything but a freak series of improbably low rolls across the board.

Rolling for Mandatory and Optional Tasks
Titanium Tyke PROW: 1d20+PROW DC 24; Group 1 PROW's 11,8,10,12 PASS
Herbal Horticulture SKLL: 1d20+SKLL DC 20; Group 1 SKLL's 13,13,11,12 PASS

Mariana LOCKING IN then immediately getting hit in the face by a Nincada
ArvisPresley threw 4 20-faced dice. Reason: PROW Rolls Total: 54
20 20 19 19 13 13 2 2
ArvisPresley threw 4 20-faced dice. Reason: SKLL Rolls Total: 33
1 1 13 13 4 4 15 15

Us and Ostia passed the first task with flying colors while Theodora failed by one and Elise whiffed badly. Meanwhile Theodora and us whiffed the Optional Task while Ostia and Elise crushed it.

Still on track for the S-rank! If there's no more Optional Tasks and the last Mandatory is a Major Battle that we're over-leveled for like I suspect than I foresee this Field Exercise going smoothly the whole way.

It's even funnier that Ostia did so well when their PROW is so low.

Ostia: "I just thought about what Miss Mary does for me, and did that for her."

Rika: "Hi honey, did you have a good day today? You didn't give the students a hard time did you?"

Popi: "Today was amazing! I got a new aunt and cousin!"

Rika: "??????????"

Ok, so if i umderstand it correctly the rolls go Us, Ostia, Theodora and finally Elise right? Because if so...
*looks at the rolls* ok so i guess i was half right when i said that Elise and us were the likeliest to pass since our prow was high but wooooow, we really are the group mom huh? Also Elise the heck happened?! Did murkrow go on a strike and didnt want to help babysit the tyke? Theodora roll was ouch, and ostia.... *blink* wait didnt they have the lowest PROW out of the entire team?...... I guess Ostia has a new friend now? (Damn Mary's been a good imfluence lol).

As for the Herbaculture roll..... *stares* jeez Mary what happened there? Did ya piss off a Arboliva? Did you get a tree infested with angry Beedrills? Or did all the berries we pick spontainiously spoil? At least Elise redeemed herself after the babysitting fiasco (and hey at least this time when we dealt with plants they cant seed bomb us back) hopefully berry pickimg doesnt translate to our ability to take care of grass types in the future . (I kid, i kid)

CHILD: HANDLED

Mariana is the Team Mom and no one, not even an Elite Four child, will be able to stop her from being the ultimate babysitter.

I genuinely do like how it's been a pretty even mix of people acing the Tasks this week - all four members of Group 1 have had their own chance to shine with a high roll.

And with the total 32,000 pokedollar reward from succeeding at both tasks, that leaves us with a cool total of 80,000 pokedollars right now. Also at 1900/2800 Prowess.

Also, we came into this Field Exercise with 33,000 pokedollars, spent most of it on the first day shopping, and now we're up to 80,000, plus potential gym prize money, plus whatever we get for tasks on Friday. These Field Exercises really make bank. It's like we're doing an entire AP worth of ranger work every day for our tasks.

… We need to get a better paying part-time job. Going up in the ranks is supposed to get us better money per task?

Hmm.

We shouldn't take that cash for granted though. The specter of Student Loans haunts us around every corner.

  1. That's not until we graduate from our 3-year course, the term only started a month ago. We have time.
  2. At least half of that is going to be waved, since we are definitely going to be at the 6-7 badge level needed to trigger that clause.
  3. And that's assuming we don't make for a Champion-ranked trainer at the end of those three years and get 90% of our debt waved.
  4. And that's assuming that whatever we get up to due to plot shenanigans doesn't count as the "valorous and meritorious service to the Empire" needed to get our entire debt waved, because being an instrumental part in bringing down an Evil Team like most Pokémon game protagonists and their immediate friend groups definitely counts.
  5. And even after all of that: 1,000,000 pokedollars seems like a lot when you come from a poor family of highland nomads and 10,000 pokedollars is the most money you've ever seen in one place. It seems like a lot less money when you just made nearly a tenth of that over three days of part-time grunt work. And we're probably going to earn more as we get stronger and can handle harder tasks.
TLDR: don't worry about the debt. It's not nearly as big of a deal as early-quest Mariana made it out to be.

Once we get a few badges we might get some sponsors from big brands maybe? Official battles like gym matches and tournaments seem pretty high profile and very public. We probably won't gain much attention at all for getting one badge since it just seems like a test to make sure we have a heartbeat and can command our team, but maybe -combined with the fact that as a Mezagoza student we're more likely on average to make it to the Conference- if we get a second badge early enough we might get some offers?

At that point though I can't imagine the offers would be very good, not good enough for Mariana at least. Class president and second best battler in the special ops best of the best class from the exclusive Mesagoza Academy? I'd say we shouldn't go for any of the low hanging sponsorships if they pop up around the second badge level. That's probably just the desperate or the lowballers throwing scraps out.

Now, if we start blasting through gyms trying to keep up with Nemona I think a few of the bigger guys might sit up and pay attention. If we get our third badge as of FE2 and get our fourth before FE3 for example, we might get the savvy sponsor looking our way if they see someone with obvious talent. Nemona's rich too so we don't even have to worry about them looking towards the only other student in our year better than us.

Downside of a sponsorship is that our sponsor would probably have demands or expectations of us, like appear in a certain number of tournaments in a certain annual timeframe, or earn a specific number of badges, or whatever. Also don't do anything to damage their own reputation which could be limiting if we ever join a rebellion or be exposed as a member of a sinister conspiracy.

Hmm.

We shouldn't take that cash for granted though. The specter of Student Loans haunts us around every corner.
I don't think student loans will be that bad? There are multiple ways to clear it that seem likely.
To summarize a lot of mathematical and economic concepts you don't understand, you owe the Paldean Government a nice tidy sum of 1,000,000 Pokedollars for the three years of your enrollment in the Academy. There are multiple ways to see it waived of course. Becoming a Champion Rank Trainer (lol) sees around 90% of it waived. Joining the Paldean League at around the 6-8 Badge Level sees half of it waived. There's also something about "valourous or meritorious service to the Empire" that would see the full debt cleared, but you highly doubt that will ever be relevant for you.
Champion rank is doable. Maybe. Sure, Nemona is this year and the protagonists of Scarlet and Violet are next year, but maybe our third??? Assuming Kieran doesn't decide to do a foreign exchange year at least... but anyways, in that case we only have to pay 100,000 and that's very doable. Do a few jobs, win a few tournaments, sell some treasure maybe, whatever. We can literally take off almost a tenth of our total debt right now if we want to. Imagine what we can earn in the future.

As for more doable options, there's always joining the League, although that would bring rise to the bootlicker allegations I'm sure. That means paying 500,000, which isn't great. But at least we'll have job security. This is my least preferred option unless becoming a Knight counts. Because I like the idea of Dame Mariana.

There's also "valourous or meritorious service to the Empire", which I'm sure will never come up. I mean, doing something like stopping a sinister conspiracy, saving a major city from rampaging pokemon or other hostile forces, or maybe even dealing with a legendary pokemon? When are the chances of that ever happening? In a Pokemon/Kiseki crossover setting? Psshaw.

Edit: fucking GreNinja's.
