"We've managed to split them apart for now. Nemona and Atticus are good at corralling them but Jacinto is way too easy to needle and Manuel likes needling him out of spite. We've split them up for now." To emphasize this, Erika points at the rest of Group 2. The two offenders are seated far apart from one another, Jacinto conversing with Nemona while Atticus discusses something with Manuel.
Man, someone should probably do something about talk, maybe talk to them or somehing.

...Anyways.

Lowering DC requirements for everyting sounds tasty as hell, and... I still want the salty Mario powerup pokemon.

That seems like wishful thinking to me. The option would not have "unlocked by mandatory/optional tasks" next to it if you did not have take it seperately from the mandatory/optional task.
Its easy to clarify and kind of the whole point of the Moratorium period.

@ArvisPresley

Will catching one of the quest unlocked pokemon require a third action or is it simply an option at sidequest completion?

Because it looks a lot like all the limited pokemon belong to groups involved in the sidequest and presumably they are unlocked after we win the approval of the group.

At which point there wouldn't be any need to comb the tall grass for a day to find them? If we wanted that we'd have just skip the quest and mug one.

If you were hypothetically do the Mandatory/Optional Task that unlocks a Pokemon, while also doing said Pokemon's corresponding Going into Tall Grass in the same day. Then it counts as unlocked

Example: Your hypothetical Day 2 Plan involves doing the Optional Task for Bronzor as well as looking for a Pokemon in the Ruins. Searching for Pokemon will always go last so Bronzor is considered unlocked for the purposes of that action.

Do not worry the Task options will show what Pokemon they unlock.

The size of the forest is actually rather deceptive, attempts to reach the deepest parts of the woods by outsiders ending in confusion and them getting lost. Simultaneously well-traveled yet possessing a mysterious inner sanctum. It is in the boundary between the two that someone can hide in, undetected by the wider world.
This is giving me vibes that a domain may be hidden there. Or some lab that contains unethical stuff.

Honestly, I was leaning way more into Charcadet or one of the Tinkaton bisharp but the task has me really kind of wanting to do the Teddiursa, I love the mystical feeling and I think it'd give the little guy/gal/bear an interesting personality to bounce off, also Ursaring and Ursaluna are just cool mons. I'd be down for going for the Teddiursa as a physical brawler needs, with the additional strength from the Biome it'd also make the gym challenge easier. while giving us a (potential) 3 stage evolution physical brawler mon that connects with domains and that aspect of the story. I think that's definitely my angle on which mon to catch here. (it also helps that I dont see Teddiursa round very much in protag teams, so it feels more unique and i like it, but this is way more of an aside bias)

I agree on doing full prep today by going for Exploring and Shopping, but why can't we fight Katy on Friday? The exercise proper is from Tuesday to Friday, so I'm not seeing a reason why we can't start the process on Wednesday.
I went and re-checked the informational, and you're correct, we do have an extra day of wiggle room here. I still think we should probably start gym registration tomorrow in case the plot starts eating our AP or physical ability to show up at the gym as the week goes on.

Anyway definitely going for Shop+Explore on the free day here. I could tactical vote to try and grab one of my preferred Pokémon since none of them are sidequest-locked, but in all honesty my policy in quests is always "what gives the protagonist the greatest odds of succeeding at their goals", rather than personal preference, so I'll defer the Pokémon vote for the sake of making sure we're prepared. While continuing to lobby for Charcadet or Nacli.

Assuming that we only have two AP today because we took a train ride, so we'll have 3 AP for the next three-four days (can we confirm if it ends Thursday or Friday), and since we know Mandatory Tasks don't cost AP...

I'm thinking today...
[] Plan: Last Minute Packing
-[] When In Rime
-[] Cortondo Cart

  • Lowers DC of all Mandatory and Optional Tasks for Tuesday and Wednesday by 2
  • Increases Bond with Elise and Ostia
When In Rime's reward is a no brainer, I like the 10% boost. On the Bond side, I've been hoping to interact with Elise more to see if she's anything like Rean and his black hole of harem-drawing denseness. You also can't go wrong with talking with Ostia more.
  • Lowers DC of all PROW Rolls during the Field Exercise by 2
  • Current Pokedollars: 33,000
  • Increased Bond with Erika and Manuel
  • Allows the purchase of healing items as well as some Simple and Advanced TMs
  • Healing Item Cost Range: 3,000 - 10,000
  • Simple and Advanced TM Cost Range 15,000 - 40,000
The PROW DC lowering could be important, I'd rather not be hurt so this would be good. I'm not sure how much I'm willing to spend on healing items but we'll see when we get there. Probably not even worth bothering getting a TM but I guess we'll see.

Anyways.

As for the next few days? Again, assuming three AP per day.

Champ In The Makin' can be done tomorrow or maybe even the day after if Friday is a thing. Which'll leave us with 2 AP again for basically the rest of the FE.

For the next few days, assuming we go for the quest-locked pokemon and don't just leap for Charcadet or Drilbur, we'll be doing their quest. Which I'd estimate to be around 2 days likely and 3 at max.

Leaving us with 1 AP for the next few days, which means Optional Tasks or whatever comes up. If we never change a lightbulb on one of the Routes are we even a Trails character? So we're doing that at least. Other than that, we're free.

Keeping in mind if we don't go for the quest-locked pokemon like Tinkatink, Pawniard, or Combee, we can just grab a pokemon for 1 AP and be much more free with AP over the next few days.

I'd just prefer to do When In Rime and Cortondo Cart day 1 while we have the time. I like lowering DC"s.
Agree for the most part on this.

I mean, I am pretty sure we can get nacli elsewhere as they are in multiple areas of multiple provinces as well as the east paldean sea area so I still want tinkatink specifically but I do like the idea of a nacli being a partner in cooking

So, a provisional weekly plan, assuming that every day except Tuesday has 3 free AP (half a day is 2, so a full day should be 4, but I'm making the assumption that every day has at least 1 "AP" reserved for mandatory tasks.) I don't think more than 4 or less than 2 is likely to happen:

Monday: Shopping, Exploring
Tuesday: Gym part 1, Optional Task, Tall Grass
Wednesday: Gym part 2, 2 actions open
Thursday: Gym part 3, 2 actions open
Friday: 3 actions open
Saturday: Traveling back to Mesagoza

So in theory, we can hit as many as 7 optional tasks, although there's probably going to be either a shakeup to our AP or a new opportunity presenting itself before then. Even assuming that we're limited to 2 AP per day, we could split Tall Grass and our first Optional Task across Tuesday and Wednesday and, assuming nothing terrible happens to our Pokémon, still be ready for Katy on Thursday.

For that outline, I feel like a mandatory slot for Wednesday would be getting in one training session with the new capture.

Just feels incredibly foolish to go into a gym battle with a freshly caught pokemon we've never had a training session with.

We don't have a training option on the list for Tuesday, although that could change (Roland is also kinda capped out for "level" here, so that might make a difference). I certainly wouldn't not vote for a training or bonding action with our new buddy.

Just putting this in one spot...
Currently Available Pokemon Choices (Heights): Nacli, Aron and Drilbur
(Ruins): Yamask, Woobat and Charcadet
(Breadbasket): Smoliv
(Forest): Deerling, Pineco, Shroodle
Pokemon Choices unlocked via Mandatory and Optional Tasks during the Field Exercise (Heights): Pawniard and Tinkatink
(Ruins): Gimmighoul and Bronzor
(Breadbasket): Fidough, Combee, Fomantis and Applin
(Forest): Teddiursa and Foongus
Right now. For Pokemon we can just catch, Nacli and Charcadet seem like front-runners, and of the ones we'll have to work at, Tinkatink and Pawniard have the lead with Teddiursa coming up behind.

I'm still pretty pro-Tink with Charcadet as a good second, but I'm also weirdly interested in Gimmighoul? It's mainly because of Gholdengo and its status as both an absolute bastard in battle and also a potential status symbol, and I know it's another Pokemon we'll have to babysit for a bit. But still.

I'm also interested in Teddiursa, I like it's evolutions, and it's possibly one of the strongest mons we can catch right now.

Its also probably possible in theory to get involved in enough Plot Bullshit to trigger a Bloodmoon mutation.

That's an odd case where a mon isn't legendary because its some kind of demigod, but rather because it was born through such strange circumstances that its basically one of a kind.

Bloodmoon also isn't exactly stronger than regular Ursaluna either, just different.

Frontrunners: Koraidon (With her counterpart among the local Gnomes equivalent being Miraidon, one of few actually local options even if it possibly completely ignores the canon for what this duo actually are), Entei (Fire type Beast), Cresselia (Psychic is also a valid type for Roselia, putting Darkrai amongst the not-Gnomes to match how Argres is consumed by darkness), a Latias (To capture for our dragon/psychic team! Because Pokémon that can pull off a good human disguise are rare, even amidst Legends), and Diancie (Fits well with Erika's Carbink as Celine)
While I was falling to sleep I had the Idea that she's a Marshadow, due to Rose's vampire-ness, small size and vaguely childlike glee. But Diancie does probably fit as well.... hard to say for sure.
but I'm also weirdly interested in Gimmighoul?
GIMMIGHOUL FACTION RISE UP! GET THE LIL GUY!

It would be good to get bonding options for Renne and Roland at some point this week. We get 3AP in a normal week but a minimum of 2/3AP a day in FE, so it's more efficient to spend them now.

Yeah, you know what, I'm down for Teddiursa too.

Yea, my main objection to a Gimmighoul is that they won't be a good battler right now, and might require $$$ to evolve to Gholdengo. But the quest hook to find one looks interesting - it might be a task worth doing even if we're not getting a 'Mon, just because hunting down ancient treasure sounds fun.

Re: Teddiursa, a Normal type is just so much worse than a Steel type on our team, both in terms of short term needs (local gym) and long term teamcomp (where we'll want a pretty wide spread of resistances for best results). It's not bad, per se, since it's a Ghost immunity and Roland covers it's Fighting weakness with an immunity too, but...

Yeah to be clear regardless of what Pokémon we pick, I think it'll be rewarding to do as many optional tasks as we can manage within our AP and without putting Roland in the hospital. For the narrative writing if not the mechanical rewards.
