There Was A Different Idea: An MCU Producer Quest

I'm concerned that may come off too silly for general audiences, and while Reynolds is a great Deadpool he is our Wonderman and double booking him there may get... complicated. Is it untenable no, but we may want to get a different actor for Deadpool ultimately, instead of that route for the Audience and not being very beholden to Reynold's. Though we can certainly give Reynolds some sway with Deadpool they would love it.
My idea for Deadpool is we have him as a minor villain temporarily in a future movie. Mercenary hired by the big bad. Keep his backstory simple, evil organization performed experiments on him that gave him his ridiculous regeneration and drove him insane.

If we do him in Captain America 2 he can switch sides once he realizes his bosses are literally nazis as I've said.

Edit: also we'd get to use Hydra Bob lol

If we want a smaller crossover for phase 2, the Ultimate Universe Ultimate Human plot of Iron Man trying to cure Hulk, and it would have worked except Bruce chooses to Hulk out to save the day. Lots of good science bro action.

Honestly, I'd kind of like to save the Hydra reveal for at least a bit into Phase 2, and maybe drop hints in individual movies for a bit before we really blow it open in Captain America 2 (or maybe even 3?)

So Captain America 2, Hulk 2, Iron man 3, Thor 2 are definitely gonna happen.

Besides that Fantastic 4 sounds like a good idea, setup Doom and all. Think Doom would be great for a Phase 3 movie.

Ghost Rider I think would be an awesome way to show the dark side of the MCU supernatural scene. Norman Reedus was born to play Johnny Blaze. We can also do Blade or Moon Knight!~

Nova followed by Guardians would be an amazing way to build the galactic side of the MCU.

Doctor Strange done right could be extremely cerebral. Lean into some Lovecraftian horror and the fact he's the only thing standing between Earth and Cthulu's cousins.

Lotta stuff we can do, gonna be fun!

I also think it's real important to branch off whatever we do next from the aftermath of the Kree invasion, instead of ignoring it like canon Marvel. Show societal unrest, have tech villains/heroes take Kree armaments to study, have Shield bring in big scientists like Banner to put to paper some sort of orbital defense plan.

That kind of stuff.

We do have a partial Brother Voodoo script in the apocrypha that's pretty good and honestly the whole voodoo thing is fun.

Buy back the rights of what Sony owns, i imagine that if the ghost rider movies did as badly as they did OTL, and the way we smothered TASM in the crib, hopefully the price is reasonable.

Did the rights to Blade just revert to Disney/Marvel coz Newline hadnt made a new movie since Trinity?

The Blade thing is great point, I'd love to do something with that… maybe we could even mix in Brother Voodoo there? That has some terrifyingly badass urban fantasy potential.

Unfortunately, I think we've reached the point where the value of being a 'former Marvel property' has become so great that even the worthless IPs are gonna cost us.

Why wouldn't Sony try to take a big chomp out of our success?

I guess it would be because Spider-Man failed in light of the Avengers' smashing success. Maybe they'd think that, with the failure of their Spider-Man reboot, all attempts to go against Marvel won't win? I dunno. :V

Shoot, I checked Wikipedia and I instantly believed it. I am gullible. :V

And yes, I can be horrible with numbers if I don't pay attention.
No worries lol, just hoping you pay attention when filing taxes or the IRS will be after you real quick

We could arrange so that we release an actual MCU film in every 'good' window, which will take the sails out of their releases. Each MCU film could also be 'badged' - a special Marvel logo like OTL, for example.

Also, sometimes the rights holders of other Marvel IP run into financial issues independent of what we do. That would be a good time to strike.

This has given me an idea! We'll hold the cinema hostage with our releases, the entire cinema, and only agree to move our movies release date in exchange for discounted prices on getting our properties back.

There is no retreat, we must double down!

Imagine a Midnight Suns movie with Blade, Moon Knight, Brother Voodoo, Ghost Rider, and Doctor Strange.

I can hear the music and smell the gore already!

That smells like regulations and lawsuits waiting to happen.

Anyway I say we work towards having 3 major teams. Avengers for normal superhero stuff, Midnight Suns for the supernatural side, and GoTG for space!

Just to be clear, I am absolutely joking. It wouldn't even be possible without us making like 25 movies per year or something insane like that, our poor producer guy would keel over from that workload for sure. Even if he was keeling over inside of his mansion bought with the proceeds of said movies...

I am still somewhat unsure of GoTG, despite how amazing the original was. It kind of set the tone for all Marvel movies relying on comedy more than substance, and overall that team is kind of... small scale? I feel like if we do the Guardians we're going to have to reimagine them to fit everything we've done so far.

I'd also really like for the Earth side of Marvel to be more... internationally inclusive? The Avengers and the F4 are all United States bound for the most part, maybe we could do something to expand the horizons a bit and capitalize on that international interest?

Captain Britain and a Black Knight actually from England.

Because, and I understand immigration's a thing, I still don't understand why the original Black Knight needed to be an American. Blegh. :V

@overmind,

Do you still do rolls for awards like with War Machine? I dont think ive seen it mentioned since.
For movies I tried to roll to see if they were even nominated, they were not (Damn Hollywood snobbery to Superhero films!) But we'll see what happens with the TV side, that is if you still want it to happen this year (2011-2012).

As for GoTG, from what I've heard they were a passion project for Director James Gunn, so it would be him offering to do the film for you rather then you choosing to do it. What you can choose is whether to say yes or no to him.
