There is no emotion... (A Jedi Order Quest)

The heck? Is this a quote from somewhere? Slavers introduced war to a pre-space society. Defense of the innocent (and teaching the innocent self defense) is not slaughter. What god-king? Executions are kinda common when dealing with slavers, especially if slavery is a capital crime, deserving of capital punishment. I'd imagine reprisal against said slavers would be justified. What crimes?

I'm so confused.
It's Atris' personal log. She has proven unfortunately willing to entertain the cheap, ill-considered Decorum Lover's understanding of a great many things and they were very unhappy with a lot of stuff, including but not limited to the part where she helped a state with a government that is built around essentially a Theomonarchial basis.

Ooc you rolled a bare success, so "controversy from dumbasses" it was.

Negotiation 3944 BBY Q4
As you head to your annual meeting with the Senate, your mind races with...various ideas.

PP:152
  • Recolonize Jedha (100 PP)
  • Establish facility in the Trax Mandate (100 PP)
  • Recolonize Taris Jedi Alcove (80 PP)
  • Send a Jedi with a Republic archeological expedition(15 PP)
  • Expand (Write-In facility) with Republic help. (10 PP) (May be taken multiple times)
  • Recruitment Drive-- Recruit 2d5 Initiates (30 PP)
  • Claim Tojora (90 PP)
  • Build academy on Socorro (90 PP)
  • Establish a Patrol Route in the Deep Core (Located near the Yuuzhan Vong Republic, this is the area where the borders touch. Keeping it safe and contained is a necessity.) (+10 PP)
  • Establish an Inner Rim Patrol Route (What would normally be one of the more quiet areas of the galaxy is, in actuality, positively swimming in pro-Sith sentiment, organized crime, and worse.) (+15 PP)
  • Request a Letter of Marque, authorizing the Jedi Order to own and operate military grade ships. (150 PP)
  • Send a Liason to Ithorian Technical Institute (20 PP, 4 Knowledge a Turn)
  • As the Republic's borders have expanded, it has found itself contacting new worlds, new life and new civilizations. To help keep the Republic free from more war, they have requested help training their ambassadors. While your consulars are decidedly more mystic than diplomat, they are still somewhat helpful in the matter. But if they do this, they cannot patrol. A balancing act, then? (+20 PP, at least 3 Consulars must be deployed training Republic Ambassadors through the year.)

I'm really interested in expanding to new worlds/academy's or reclaiming worlds but at the same time I am worried about spreading ourselves out too thinly as well. Same with the last option as well I'm interested but do we have the man power for it? Because I don't know what our current numbers are Jedi wise since it's been a while since they've been updated. Though I do want to establish patrols in the deep core or the Inner Rim.

Locking up some of our Consulars and grabbing a new route would be spreading us dangerously thin, I suspect. I think we could just barely swing one or the other. Of them, taking a route seems more important than the extra PP, and we usually get PP from completing missions on routes anyway. Or something else good.

For expansion, I like the idea of grabbing Tojora, the super light side aligned planet, before someone else does.

Hmm as I said I'm interested in it doesn't mean I want or really need to take it and something with the routes is we don't necessarily need to patrol them even if that leads to problems down the lane. So if we can't take both then I'm fine then with taking patrolling the deep core, a lot has been happening there recently and it's best if we keep an eye on it.

Here's a suggested plan. It leaves a fair amount in reserve towards future expensive options, like entirely new facilities or the letter of marque. We don't really need any more initiates or to fast expand any facilities right this moment, we've got plenty of initiates and plenty of room. Missions have been doing a good job of expanding facilities, so they'll grow on their own. A couple are fairly close to growing to the next stage, might happen this in game year depending on mission results.

We could theoretically open both routes, but that would increase the risk of missions going bad because we're spreading thin. It's a judgment call. I don't believe sidelining the three or more Consulars is worth the 20 PP though. They're probably worth more ensuring we don't fail missions.

Going for Tojora first because there's a risk someone else will colonize it if we don't claim it soon. And it's a real jewel for Jedi because of its strong light side alignment. We can surely do things with that.

[] Plan Gentle Expansion, Add Deep Core Route (Spends 115 PP, 37 PP In Reserve)
-[x] Send a Jedi with a Republic archeological expedition(15 PP)
-[x] Claim Tojora (90 PP)
-[x] Establish a Patrol Route in the Deep Core (Located near the Yuuzhan Vong Republic, this is the area where the borders touch. Keeping it safe and contained is a necessity.) (+10 PP)
-[x] Send a Liason to Ithorian Technical Institute (20 PP, 4 Knowledge a Turn)

You know what the above plan works for me if another plan comes up that I like more I'll vote for it but I can work with a compromise option for now.

Claiming Tojora and sending a liaison to Ithorians are good ideas, not sure about establishing another patrol route, since we're still so low on jedi.

I like Gentle expansion too and it saves up some PP. So I too will vote for it unless a better one comes up.

[X] Plan Arm Yourself (With Knowledge)
-[X] Recolonize Jedha (100 PP)
-[X] Send a Jedi with a Republic archeological expedition(15 PP)
-[X] Send a Liason to Ithorian Technical Institute (20 PP, 4 Knowledge a Turn)

I would prefer at least 5 more Knights - I would prefer 10 though - before we open up another patrol route, especially since the options sound like dangerous/high-maintenance beats. We can rotate no-namers and People of Interest then onto the safer routes and keep the big guns for the new one(s). At this time we're spread pretty thin - I'm more okay losing two Jedi for an indefinite period than having another being-power sink right now, and the ITI and probably the archaeological expedition will get us more research capital. Tojora I like as a potential Consular facility, but for the moment I would prefer Jedha because A) it's another source of kyber crystals, B) it's a good site to have a Sentinel facility, and C) it provides an anchor for our presence in the Mid-Rim - the last of which I think is more important than more presence in the Core.

Speaking of which, @Voikirium would we have a rough estimate on the strength of patrols we'd need for the Deep Core or Inner Rim routes?

I don't think we have the numbers yet for another new patrol route, but I really want to claim Tojora while we can.

[X] Plan Arm Yourself (With Knowledge)

I would prefer to open a new route in the Deep Core but as it is we don't yet have the numbers to do so.

Hmm, again, I don't feel particularly strongly towards either plan, and can't think of one of my own. Anyone up to convince me to join their side? :V

[X] Plan Go Big or Go Home
-[X] Recolonize Jedha (100 PP)

The hints of Sith dangers in the Inner Rim is worrisome, and the Yuuzhan Vong are a potential crisis zone, so best to keep an eye on both. As for the potential personnel issues, that's what the recruitment should help with.
