The Void Dragon's Headache

Nice…two things that help us…with those decent rolls things will move forward.

Guilliman little private army gets co-opted by the mechanicus because he owes them back taxes for fucking centuries.

Edited: also is anyone going to go back-up our boys getting more shards of us so we can finally gtfo of this cage that one golden asshole put us in? Also we should eat quay's shards if we can…because fuck the old ones.

Well a cybernetic army that rivals the space marines is just the skitarii. And you already did the artificial blanks earlier.

As @w34v3r said earlier the mechanicus already has a lot of the stuff you're all proposing. They are the industrial heart of the Imperium after all. And they keep the best stuff for themselves.

Major whisper (To radical sects): Modify Tiberium into some similar 'interesting' material. (Think warpstones from WhF or Originium from Arknights)

oh boy oh boy, now we have ridiculous level so bullshit dont we? we just need more forces and such...wonder if we can get the iron wombs from kreig to start mass producing Skittari?

I mean the skitarii don't rival he space Marines completely since the space marines seem to be better then the skitarii and I mean make artificial blanks more viable and widespread like turning regular people into blanks. In the game a single skitarii is outclassed by a single space marine

Yes, I rolled! I just have to wait for moderation approval...
I thought hard how to make Skitarii even better, because I like those tin soldiers, they are so damn rad (lol).

On boring side, I think we may want to prepare against Necrons, since we likely will have a lot of conflicts with them (already have). Protection and mobility, I think, is a priority, since weapons Mechanicus have already insanely powerful. Loot at those Heavy Graviton Cannons!

Minor Whisper: Develop personal force-field generator (size of a book, belt attachment). Force-field can absorb energy weapon attacks (from outside, not inside, duh), and it can be tuned specifically against Gauss weapon. Even if it only absorb few shots before overloading, it should be enough to noticeably reduce casualty rate among our precious Skitarii (I like them, did I tell?). We can send some to Sororitas and Imperial Guard too I guess... If it get us some goodwill with them!

I hope it would be cheap and easy to mass-produce device. While Imperium hardly will ever run out of cannon fodder in general, on tactical scale it's very much possible. Skitarii while not Astartes, they are still valuable and have a lot of resources put in them, and It hurt my everything to read lines like "Magos Retardus tried to improve lasgun, ten billion Skitarii perished"

Welp, It didn't go well. Another ten billions bite the dust...

Minor Whisper: We have teleportation devices, right? Teleportation is so OP. Assemble several small units of most-elite best-equiped Skitarii, with personal teleportation devices. Their purpose would be to strike (teleport from orbiting ship) most vulnerable enemy positions, destroy their crucial infrastructure and, of course, retrieve shiny artifacts, then teleport back before enemy can respond. They would be like our version of Terminators, less bulk and tank, more cyber and punk. Don't forget badass edgy name, something like Voidrunners, Mobile Task Force Nine-Tailed-Dragon, Void Company, Dragon Redeemers, Advocates of Void *shudder*...

Okay, will try in different direction

Minor Whisper: To fix Pylon-induced psychic depression let's develop "materialistic" solution. It's all just electrochemical processes in their brains, right? Synthesize totally mundane chemical compound (certainly not esoteric alchemical concoction) that upon ingestion (or injection, ew) increase Determination and Perseverance by order of magnitude. It can also hypothetically be used as unorthodox combat stim for Imperial Guard or as protection against mind-whammies. Side effects? There is no side effects.

teleportation is out for a few good turns, but the potion? well...that combat drug should do well at least, or decently. its a way to keep people going instead of just aimlessly dying...at least for a short time-frame.

its not like they need those things called "souls" dont they? its just warp contamination on a otherwise pristine natural order of the material universe! Cleaning it up for a few generations wouldnt hurt, and with more blanks...well that can easily replace the population now could it?

Forge World with our shiny thingy still under siege?
Stratagem Time!

Medium Whisper: Drop Ork-lure beacon on Tomb World from where we stole shard. Necrons will have to either ignore it and lose their home, or run back and abandon their shard, or separate forces. If they already fuck off, consider it parting gift

Medium Whisper: Contact Imperial Fleet, ask for additional help to lift siege and fight Necrons. We can fight on the ground, but someone should destroy their void ships. Call old favors, promise future support, we should have enough leverage on admirals, we make their ships, right?

Yes, souls are so overrated. I think, if body still going, while soul departed, and we can fight corruption and demon possession with pure WILLPOWER, we can get Blanks, or something very close to it. Teleportation probably failed because it also warp-bullshit-based :С
Developing technological alternatives for every warp-tech will take eternity, and first things to replace are the hardest, transportation and communication across galaxy. Inertialess drive of Necron and some quantum-bullshit? Astra Telepathica will be very angry, although they are probably have really bad times right now.

Which means it's the perfect time to do so…technological stuff should be pushed as hard as possible to seperate our servants from the warp…

Bad news: you used the standard shipping lanes to distribute them, which meant that they ended up concentrated in a few systems scattered throughout the galaxy when they reactivated before finally shipping, which cut those systems off from the Warp. Good news, despite losing a few critical shipping systems due to overuse of Pylons, the presence of the Pylons in those systems works exceedingly well at protecting the surrounding galactic regions from Warp influence.

Pity about the poor bastards in the handful of shipping nexuses or anyone dependent on stuff that was being shipped through them and couldn't last until the shipping lanes got re-routed. :V

I've been meaning to say that I really liked this. One of the things I was hoping at the start of the quest was that people would respond to each other's whispers. Because I felt that lead to more fun and strange results than everything falling back on me.

So I will make it official.

Whisper Replies
If someone writes a response to a whisper that is in line with the roll and is well received then I will take it as the official response. The poster will get a bonus of 5 to use on their choice of future rolls. These bonuses can stack. You can use a bonus once I have officially taken the response in the update.

A couple caveats
1. The response has to be in line with the class of whisper. No changing the Imperium for a minor whisper.
2. The outcome should follow the following table.
Roll (minor/medium/major)Result
1Exceptional
2-10Good with no drawbacks
10-15/10-25/10-50Does some of the prompt, but has drawbacks
16-19/26-49/51-99Totally off target
20/50/100Terrible
3. I do not guarantee that I will take a response. Some reasons I might reject a response are as follows.
3a. I don't understand the response.
3b. I think it is too outlandish
3c. It contradicts things established by previous events in the quest.
3d. It contradicts canon, though this is looser because WH40K canon is a mess.

Current Available Bonuses

1. Robinton: 63
2. Pyro Hawk: 5

Well, if you liked that so much... Have another attempt?

Congratulations! You've successfully managed to gain access to a large enough collective task force from the Imperial Navy to partially lift the siege and get reinforcements groundside. Unfortunately, this required handing out more favours than calling them in, and many of those favours were immediately used to demand AdMech support 'cleaning up your own mess', with restrictions on things removed from the battlefield before said 'clean up' effort succeeds.

At least it's very unlikely for the total collapse of the AdMech combat group in the system any time soon now, even if the salvage (Shard included still I believe?) is stuck on world for a while longer.

Whispers 17
Major Whisper: You must build additional pylons. Use them to create a sphere of space around the system free from Warp incursions.

Huge Success!

Roll: 9

With the addition of yet more pylons to the cloud around the Sol System the Immaterium has been completely severed from the materium in this part of the galaxy. The result is profound. The only major movement throughout the system are automatons carrying out their tasks with rote repetition. The few Magi who installed the last pylons have mostly fallen dormant only kept alive by their life support cybernetics. Even the Custodes are struggling to muster the will to live. The teaming billions of hive citizens on Terra and forge serfs on Mars have given up and died. And somewhat catastrophically the Astronomican has been snuffed out plunging the wider Imperium into chaos.

Major whisper : make a a lot of prototype dolmen gate in every hive city in Terra

Roll: 63

A few magi who are more machine than man plant dolmen gates in every city on Terra. They are completely unopposed as they travel through the silent cities, but of course the dolmen gates fail to function as the webway is just as cut off as the rest of the warp.

I feel like Tiberium would be Major Whisper level. Just by virtue of being tied with Kane the 21th Primarch, it being able to be used for FTL, its aggressive assimilation of matter, its usefulness in mining... it's a gamechanging seed metal if it can be controlled, unless the Imperium can already do all of that.

Minor Whisper: Seed some useless worlds with Tiberium

Roll: 6

Throughout the galaxy worlds start to slowly turn green. Not the lush green of new life and fertile plants, but the harsh neon green of the crystals that cover their surface. They are both treasure trove and rampant danger to those who know how to mine them, but then that is nothing new to this galaxy. And they are marked down as a new kind of death world by intrepid rogue traders.

Medium Whisper:
Description: Create b2 battle droid

Roll: 42

The Arch Heretek B1 is one of the only things still active on Mars. The heretek had long since transferred his thought patterns into the abominable intelligence and now uses the fact that the skitarii legions have slackened to take the time to create a new form of battle droid to augment their robotic legions. The new droids are stronger, more resilient, and capable of hitting their targets with great precision, but they are still a failure. For they are also incredibly prideful. They refuse to subordinate themselves to B1 much less work with their lesser kin and seize manufactorums to set up an opposing force on another of Mars cracked continents.

Minor Whisper: add jet packs to b1 battle droids

Roll: 19

At least the B2 droids worked. The jet packs just lead to entire regiments flying into walls, cliffs, and each other. And that's where they don't just explode on the spot.

Major wisper: create super tactical droid
Roll: 22

Somewhat hesitantly B1 creates a new series of droids even more superior to the B2 line. With some suitable reworking of their neural coding the result grudgingly agree to work with the B1 itself, but they refuse to cooperate with any droids that they consider to be their lessers.
