The Void Dragon's Headache

Major Whisper: Give a Senior Priest an epiphany and push forward their general understanding of science and tech to M35 levels

Medium Whisper: Transfer enough pylons, and shift the remaining around so the webway portal can be opened up again. Pylons will be sent to Cadia to keep pushing back the BC.

Minor Whisper: Build more Skitarii to rush into the webway when it's reopened

Minor Whisper: Build more tanks for Webway work, Russes, Hydras, Baneblade, etc

Edit: well, I we pushed general tech forward, or back in this case, reopened the webway, and my up teched zombies went out of control before going in, but I get some better vehicles

Hack into the imperial data base and change the names of every important individual in every record. For example, change every mention of Robute Gulliman into Robot Gorillaman, Rowboat Girlyman, Papa smurf, Bobby G etc. Pertarabo into Peter-turbo, Sly Marbo into AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA, Horus Lupercal into Horus Heresy, Vulkan into VULKAN LIVES STOMP STOMP, Mortarion into Morty, Abbadon into Fail-baddon, The God Emperor of Mankind into Johnny Space, maybe change Khorne to Corn, you get the idea.

Edit: Ignore the 9. Rolled by accident. If you want me to come up with something for it - or count it as a repeat attempt on the 17, I certainly wouldn't turn that down, but it was genuinely an accident.
Edit 2: Looks like only 1 significant failure to me, and that was on an unimportant minor project. :)

Edit 3, from much later: Spend bonuses: +7 on the 17 and +3 on the 28 to force the Minor to be a bare success and the Medium to be a bare "Works with side-effects."
Edit 4: I feel like the Medium effect will be "All Anti-Necron Censers now glow blue when Necrons are close. Increase production and distribution accordingly." Which isn't what I'd intended to accomplish, exactly, but will probably be useful, maybe?

Minor Whisper: Well, you've got a working Anti-Insanity Task Force. It might not be working well, but it's functional. Have it look as far back in history as it can for groups with similar objectives and mission states, then compile a list of the methods they used, the structure of the group, how successful they were, what they fared badly at and why they either failed, disappeared or just vanished one day-cycle.
Roll: 11

The best group that the Mechanicus agents can find to indicate were the ancient agents of the emperor. Under the direct command under the legendary Malcador they seem to have become the basis for the Inqusition, which is not a bastion of efficiency in modern times. Still a few things can be gleaned from ancient records and the task force's operation improves.

Minor Whisper: Using whatever data resulted from the previous Whisper, along with anything else that seems relevant, undertake efforts to improve the performance of the Anti-Insanity Task Force for at least Mars itself. Initial considerations suggest breaking into sub-divisions which each focus on one particular variety of technology, with at least three sub-divisions overlapping for known possible tech heresies. Then make it so each Sub-division is composed of an Investigations branch, an Assessment branch and an Enforcement branch. No matter what the Assessment branch is going to be neutral for that particular variety of technology, even if they are violently argumentative for other branches of possible tech heresy. Thus making it so the Investigations branch and the Enforcement branch have an informative, accurate and probably unbiased assessment to undertake further actions on. Even if said actions include a violent internal civil war within the branch and then another series of wars with the other branch and other Sub-divisions.
Roll: 17

The task force attempts to implement a logical carefully divided allocation of tasks in order to ensure best efficiency. It lasts for a bit less than a day before the first jurisdictional dispute arises over a las gun that can also make toast. It is claimed by the weapon, food processing, and religious assessment branches. The dispute quickly escalates and soon the entire task force is in a morass of interlocking arguments and disputes.

Minor Whisper: Construct secure experimentation facilities around Mars' polar regions. In particular, make it so when something creates a significant explosion, it blows upwards. This will hopefully reduce how much damage structures on the Martian surface and on the Ring of Iron around the planet's equator takes from the unfortunately resilient frenzy of innovation that has seized Mars lately for good and ill. Mostly ill.
Roll: 1

The Polar Bunkers are a success in that they move official dangers away from the most populated forges. The task force is surprisingly succesful at tracking down nascent experiments before they can go wrong, but barring the total abandonment of the rest of the forges on Mars there's no way to completely remove the danger.

Medium Whisper: Using the recent innovations in sensor technology, along with the new sensor data (along with whatever old data can also be unearthed) that has been acquired due to various innovations, experiments, 'experiments' and accidents to create a powerful sensor array which can scan mars to predict any future 'energetic unplanned deconstruction' which might happen for whatever reason. Sure, it's not going to be the most accurate, even if said accuracy is both helped and hindered by the lack of Warp-derived precognition methods (there's been enough of that nonsense lately and it's yet to stop!), but data-crunching cogitator arrays should at least give you enough warning of either energy build ups or volatile material accumulation fast enough for Rapid Response Forces to reduce the resulting mess. Blueprinting only in their own labs, with any sub-component or component assembly taking place in the Polar Secure Innovation Bunkers. Partial assembly and final assembly along with testing shall take place in that low-value system designated for the purpose. Just in case.
Roll: 38

The sensor array is built with only the usual delays and turned towards the surface. The expected hot spots are quickly discovered in forges and various weapons ateliers, but most alarming are the very large energy signatures being read deep beneath the surface. It seems that something is going on down there that isn't be accounted for.

(0) Major Whisper: The spark of Insight has seized an Arch Magos! Long have they laboured to improve their knowledge of that most ancient, mystical and lost techno-miracle known as the nanite. Yet nothing resulted until now. The new Maintenance Bot-Hive's production facilities and the tools used by it's bots have provided knowledge on the Ancients grasp of nano-scale manipulation. New and old xenotech examples seized from the Tau and the Necrons along with lesser Xenos and a very rare few artifacts of more advanced Ork (most noteworthy being one particularly hidden and secure vault dating to M32) Waaghs have yielded their secrets in recent months. A small quantity of exotic materials and substances that have trickled out of the forbidden Vault of Moravec. The knowledge behind the new 'perfected' series of implants which have recently spread across the galaxy along with secrets carefully horded by the Genetors which were seized in the purge of those hereteks. All shall be combined to create a masterpiece above all others that show the true superiority of Nanite over both Metal and Flesh. Implants which have the strength and hardiness of the machine yet the ability to grow and heal of the flesh. None shall defy him now!

Meanwhile, the Void Dragon is cursing at how they weren't careful about just who could overhear the recent muttering it did on ensuring it's durability and self-repair capabilities were up to the task with all the accidents that have occurred and look to continue occurring. It's really hoping yet another runaway nanite swarm doesn't result from this, whilst simultaneously double-checking it's Intelligence Warfare Intrusion Suites are operational. Making absolutely sure everyone single one of the little bastards have been overwritten is always such a pain after all.

Roll: 54

Nanoscale industry proves easily achievable given the rest broader understanding gifted by the Omnissiah. With just a few vats of slurry programmed with the correct liturgies entire swaths of raw materials can be quickly and easily replace traditional forges.

Which of course is where the problems come as the Arch Magi in charge of those forges do not want to be replaced. They insist that the nanite swarms are not simply a recovered STC but a perverse heretikal application of xenos knowledge. They point to the obvious Necron and Tau influences and the fact that there is no STC tradition covering this particular technology.

The adjudicators see the line of reasoning clearly enough, but on the other hand it is a very useful technology. After some discussion they agree to put the nanite swarms under review to make sure they are both safe and clean of taint.

Medium Whisper:

Mars is being assailed by the Ruinous Powers, and the solution is clear. Arrange for the construction and installation of even more pylons in the system, arranged in a particular pattern. A pattern that might, out of sheer coincidence, happen to substantially shield the Noctis Labyrinthus from the influence of the Warp. To keep Chaos away from anything heretekal there, of course. Yes, it might notably weaken the Astronomicon, but it's fine - you can put the Astropaths somewhere else.
Roll: 42

The warp in Sol is nearly dead as the materium and immaterium are pushed apart by the arcane might of millions of pulsing pylons. All contact has been lost with the Mercury mines and Venus cloud cities, and billions have succumbed to lethargy on both Terra and Mars dying through sheer lack of will to live. Word from the palace has ordered the Fabricator to cease production and dismantle all pylons not on Mars itself. While Custodes have been dispatched to begin destroying them regardless of Mechanicus intent.

Minor Whisper:

Figure out a method to semi-reliably weaponise self-sustaining anti-daemonic lasgun explosions. Only test this on a dead planet though. Don't blow up the other half of Mars, idiots.
Roll: 20

The Omnissiah very clearly said "blow up the other half Mars, idiots." So the Mechanicus dutifully followed through. Even the Orthodox Cult had to admit that the instructions were exceptionally clear.

Minor Whisper:

Trazyn, that was who you were thinking of! You also remember him running off a lot, though. Trawl your memories for relevant ancient Necrontyr taunts, insults, curses, and jokes. Then implant the desire to transmit these to him upon arrival at Solemnance to try and anger or confuse him into staying put.

Edit: Fuck.
Roll: 15

A select group of skitarii and magos dominus are equipped with the fabled words of destruction. Ancient rituals decreed by the Omnissiah directly. As soon as the explorator fleet arrives they will commence their psychological torment of the necron lord.

Major Whisper: Assemble Explorator Fleets to find the fabled lost relics of Primarch Vulkan and if possible findings leads on his whereabouts.
Roll: 83

A small explorator fleet is sent off to find the relics of Vulkan. They succeed. They in the vaults of Ultramar for some reason. Unfortunately the ultramarines don't seem very inclined to hand them over.

Minor Whisper: Circumvent the new blockade on your prison.
Roll: 10

Several tech acolytes have infiltrated the skitarii guards to enter the Noctis Labyrinth itself. They haven't found a way past the ancient protectors inside, but they have gotten far closer to whatever resides within than any other Mechanicus. They call themselves the Ascendant Dragons.

Minor Whisper: Directing the B1 legions to your prison. If possible, send a majority of them to contain the daemonic presences on Mars.
Roll: 4

Or they would if they weren't busy fighting off the legions of B1 droids that have turned from their conquest of Mars as a whole to focus on the labyirnth. It is now besieged by the tidal wave of droids. Though legions of Skitarii from the previous front lines are quickly maneuvering to protect the labyrinth instead.

Medium Whisper: Hack the Custodes vox-casters and endlessly bombarding them with the rhetoric of ☭.
Roll: 10

Despite the repeated and non stop broadcasts of various communist manifestos over the Custodes own internal vox network the stalwart warriors seem to be unaffected.

Minor Whisper: design a device that will attract Ork roks to a location and test it out on a random necron tomb world

Roll: 2

The Mechanicus is going to put this one down in the maybe column. No one is entirely sure how the new beacon works, but it somehow attracts Ork Rocs and lots of them. The test tomb world was quickly overrun by a waagh that assembled before the dynasty could fully awaken. The problem of course is that there is now a full Ork waagh looting necron technology.

Major whisper: sent the holly Terra to be closer to eye if terror so we can reinforce our troop faster

Roll: 43

The mechanicus aren't entirely sure what to make of the Omnissiah's demands. Eventually they decided it must mean that the Omnissiah wants a better warp route charted. So two expeditions set out. One placed pylons along the path to Cadia in order to ensure a calmer warp passage. While another charts a path through the webway from a system near Sol.

Minor Whisper: Designs begin for a new kind of Cyborg Commando (Think the Tib Sun version, so Astartes Biology+Cybernetic upgrades, such as Mammoth Mk.II height of leaping, Plasma Flamer and Plasma Cannon, with other Imperium Upgrades like Powerfield enhanced Claw Arm, Shielding, Mechadenrite Scorpion Tail with Anti Warp Laser) they are to be created to use the failed Black Hand Astartes candidates, restoring their Mobility and Combat Capability, while also restoring a zest for life and zeal to Kane and the Omnissian Dragon!
Roll: 17

The cyborgs don't go well. Technically they surpass all their design goals, but they also become deranged and psycopathic. Unsuitable for battle as they tear into friend and foe alike. After the Black Hand suppresses the escaped prototypes the surviving samples are put into stasis for use as a indiscriminate weapons.

Minor Whisper: Work upon Upgrades to improve the Black Hand Astartes implantation success rates also begins
Roll: 18

Unfortunately most of the genetors are working on the cyborg project and the remainders aren't really sure where to begin. If the Mechanicus knew how to improve Astartes implantation rates they definitely would be doing so across the Imperium. So unfortunately the Black Hand remains just as full of failed aspirants as before.

Medium Whisper: Void Dragon sends dreams out that have Techpriests gifting/bribing the Ecclisiarchy to set up Admech affiliated sects of Sisters of Battle.
Roll: 19

The Sisters of Battle are an ecclisiarchial institution and the ecclsiarchy has no love for the Mechanicus. So the efforts go slowly. A few orders of Sororitas set up monasteries on forge worlds across the Imperium, but most orders seem to have no interest in the offer.

Major Whisper: The Void Dragon provides Kane the path to find Jagatai Khan and Successfully recruit him, while also gaining his friendship via a love of Attack Bikes and newer types of Hover Attack Bikes!
Roll: 61

Kane eventually manages to find Jaghati Khan. Unfortunately they immediately strike up a rivalry. Kane views Jaghati as an undisciplined fool, while Jaghati views Kane as both a poor imitation of a brother and a would be tyrant. Only the fact that they are both trapped in the webway, and that Kane has the entirety of Luna, stops them from coming to blows.

Major whisper: With chaos is the galaxy we need more heroes, is time for a new great founding, but this time it will be done with blend of Salamander and Iron Hands geneseed stocks to create many chapters full of techmarines to do the will of the Omnissiah across the galaxy.
Roll: 60

The founding itself goes well, but the Imperial authorities take it poorly that the Mechanicus has taken it on itself to perform a new founding. Technically this is legal, and the forge worlds are supported both by the new chapters and many older space marine chapters who appreciate their support, but it has strained relations.

Medium Whisper : All these disaster have damaged mars, use asteroid collision experiment to transport many mineral rich asteroids to mars for use repairing and reinforcing the planet.
Roll: 12

Happily there is a very large asteroid immediately in the vicinity of Mars. That of course being the remnants of Mars itself that were recently blown into orbit. Several large graviton engines are assembled on it and the massive planetary mass is pushed downward to rejoin the rest of Mars' mass. It even ends up destroyed quite a number of the mutant clans that have been plaguing the Mechanicus for the last century or so since the Genetor Rebellions.

Minor Whisper: Call Salamanders for suport on the expedition to Trazyn
Roll: 13

The Salamders are happy enough to answer the call. Most of the chapter answers the summons and their battle barges are quickly integrated with the fleet. With that Arch Explorator Halphuul believes that sufficient preparations have been made. Or perhaps they simply don't want to get involved in the Imperial/Mechanicus that seems to be brewing. In any case he gives the order and the vast fleet jumps into the warp.

They will travel to the world of Solemnace, find the necron lord Trazyn, and liberate the Omnissiah's divine relic.

Minor Whisper: Use Tau Loot to design better mechs, preferably draconic.
Roll: 7

The explorator fleet Kicker arrives at a useful forge world and beings to unload its loot of knowledge. The first thing that is done is apply several Tau design principles to a group of Mechanicus Knights. They results are impressive as they have far more maneuverability than before. The armigers are even given simple jump jets based on the Tau crisis suits.

Actual flight however is still completely out of the question.

Minor Whisper: Screw Lasguns, figure Tau pulse rifles.
Roll: 12

At the same time work is done to reverse engineer the Tau pulse rifles. This is succesful as far as it goes. The forge world is able to build mechanicus equivalents. But the las guns can kill daemons, and the pule rifles can't. As such they are hesitant to put them into service.

Minor Whisper: Locate Chiaphas Cain, figure how to max produce more of him.
Roll: 16

Cladestine genetor search teams find the grave of Ciaphas Cain and dig it up hoping to get sample with which to clone the fabled Hero of the Imperium. To their surprise however it proves to be completely empty.

Minor Whisper: Build Toaster factory.
Roll: 15

While everyone else was arguing doctrine the Conclave of the Virtual Loaf was hard at work spreading their baked grain products. In effort to further their mission they have built a forge dedicated exclusively to the production grain baking machinery. Though they insist that the grain is already baked and they are "toasting" it. No one is totally clear on the difference, but it seems to work for them. As the Omnissiah clearly favors their endeavors seeing as they haven't been drawn into any of the internal conflicts plaguing the Mechanicus.

Minor Whisper: Keep running RPG Campaign.
Roll: 2

The daemonic overlords have been overthrown and the fictional world is entering a golden age of prosperity and science as Mag'ladroth runs increasingly elaborate simulations for the tech priests to try out various scenarios and argue over the minutie of their character abilities. Little do they know that Mag'ladroth is building up to opening an interdimensional portal that will flood alien invaders across their paradisaical world.

Quest Note: Just as a request can people do each whisper in its own individual post. It makes them a bit easier to work through.

See this is why there is a standing order that Cain is not declared dead and on active duty no matter what, not even Death can hold back the Hero of the Imperium

Cain is the 21st primarch. It all makes sense now.

Cain is the 21st primarch. It all makes sense now.
That makes too much sense, like how no one knows his family or world of origin. And how he is stronger than a baseline human, even if he credits his augmented fingers(tech priests said they don't help his strength). Plus the fact there aren't any kids of his even though he has slept with more women then minor pleasure deamons

Edits sorry guys but I will support Cain as much as possible, he's too much fun not too
