The Void Dragon's Headache

Okay, Ancient One? I've seen what you are doing and I don't like it. @Arcanestomper just so you know, so far I've seen what I'm pretty sure is three previous posts from Ancient One which were all for this very Whisper here. And I don't know what the first two were because I didn't see the results of the roll, but the third post had a roll of 48.

Not sure what your thoughts are on people gaming the system like this, but I felt you had to know. Even if I'm expecting the potential consequence to be... painful. Sorry everyone, but some things just don't sit well.

Yeah, I saw this. I actually get emails for new posts. So I've got a string of them for the same whisper now. The problem is that I know it's happening, and before this other people have done it too, but the emails only come when there aren't any other new posts in the thread. So I don't have a good way to track specific instances.

I am okay with people deleting old whispers, but I don't like trying to game the dice roller with the same whisper multiple times. The problem is the only real solution I see is doing all the rolls myself. Which is both kind of annoying since I can't do a dice roll before posting, and makes it harder for me to see which posts actually have whispers in them.

Also doing all the dice rolls myself would prevent anyone else from writing up responses.

Also I am calling a moratorium on new whispers for now. I'm pretty far behind. So I'd like to catch up to reduce the lag of new whispers addressing old problems. I'll try and get everything updated over the next few days.

I feel like everything that happened can be summed up as that one meme from spongebob "We did it Omnissiah, we saved the galaxy!" galaxy in the background on fire

Whispers 18
Minor Whisper: Upgrade the Dei Voluntas battle moon with pylons and give the main gun the anti-demon upgrade made for the lashuns so that it can permakill demonworlds and maybe shut the warp rift in the Sol system.
Roll: 2

Bessane-Alpha-1 is somewhat skeptical of the new pylons designed by Archmagos Ivonivion Zaul. Unlike many of his peers the lord of the Dei Voluntas is not so quick to make usage. Mostly because the Dei Voluntas makes extensive use of Dolmen Gates for travel, and experiments have shown that pylons and the webway interact negatively to put it lightly.

Still Bessane-Alpha-1 cannot deny the usefulness of pylons as a deterrent against warp incursions. And so several pylons are carefully installed on the attack moon with heavy safeguards to ensure they do not activate except when absolutely necessary. Even more heavy safeguards are put into place around the main gun as it is upgraded with the las anti daemon technology. Bessane-Alpha-1 doesn't want his fiefdom destroyed like Mars and so many other forge worlds. It is large for a mobile vessel, but too small to withstand that kind of damage.

These upgrades wouldn't even be considered by the Lord of the Dei Voluntas except for the destination of the great vessel. It must travel the Eye of Terror itself to reach the ancient crone worlds of the Aeldari, most of which are no doubt full blown daemon worlds by now. Bessane-Alpha-1 will need every anti daemon weapon in the Mechanicus's arsenal if his mission is to succeed.

Medium Whisper: Have the Genetors decipher the Orks genetic memory.
Roll: 18

Genetor Caldrent Hextigonor has made a study of the xenos species colloquially known as Orks. It is well known among the Magi Biologis that the Orks have a form of genetic memory. This is clearly shown by the fact that Ork tribes grown on completely separate planets with no contact develop technology that is basically identical barring the idiosyncrasies of individual Ork Meks.

Genetor Caldrent has spent a life time attempting to tap into that memory, and finally he feels as if he is close to succeeding. In laboratory filled with strange and exotic samples of orkoid lifeforms Caldrent has wired up the remnant of an Ork mek skull to a machine that whirls and clunks. Chanting the rites of activation Caldrent pours electro currents through the fungoid's skull and line by line the cogitator fills with Orkoid knowledge.

Minor Whisper: It is the holy duty of every true believer to write bad fanfiction about the Emperor and to send it to his noosphere accounts.
Roll: 14

A significant amount of Emperor/Omnissiah shipping fiction has started to crop up on the noosphere. The main complaint most magi have is that since the Emperor is in fact the physical avatar of the Omnissiah the relationship doesn't make any logical sense. This dissuades none of the authors.

Okay, I will do a d100.

Major Whisper: The Adeptus Mechanicus receive knowledge to form a Holy substance to be known as Tiberium! It can be used as an extremely efficient and optimised method to extract resources with minimal effort, with additional bonuses to rapid manufacturing using it's refined form, in addition the Omnissiah calls for Noctillith to be added during it's creation to imbue the Seed of it with a Passive Anti Warp effect.

Roll: 42

Plans for how to actually use Tiberium are found by mechanicus searching the forge world archives for how to deal with the strange new substance. The discoveries are nearly simultaenous and taken as proof of the blessing of the Omnissiah to use the strange new substance that has been growing on worlds throughout the galaxy. Great refinery fleets are assembled and set out to take control of the new mining worlds despite the horrendous effects the first few samples have had on unlucky test subjects.

Major whisper:
Redevelop ancient Teran infowar weapons, the adware, to work against Necron software. If it also accidentally infects mankind's systems, that is a feature, not a bug.

Soon, Trazyn will get buried with messages about hot single moms in his area, Mwahahahahahaha!

Roll: 3

Arch Explorator Halphuul and his massive fleet have arrived at the world of Mundus Pyra. This is not their target of course, but rather it was Halphuul's judgement that it would be best to reorganize and resupply the fleet before the main battle at Solemance. The Fire Lords are surprised at the arrival of such a massive fleet, but after the mechanicus completely refit their chapter with new equipment more or less out of habit Chapter Master Phoros pledges the chapter to the crusade.

Halphuul meanwhile is conversing with the info war specialists who joined the fleet prior to its departure. During the journey they have refined their techniques and modified them to work with the Solemance authorization codes found in the initial data packet. They are now prepared to blitz the necron lord Trazyn with their full array of memetic weaponry as soon as the fleet arrives in orbit over the ancient world.

Minor whisper

Have a artisan make a drill spear with words on the saft "Perfection Is A Lie"
Roll: 17

On a distant forge world far from the political turmoil of Mars a Vakeum Ozmigophus begins works on what will hopefully be their magnum opus. As a Seditious Monitor of the Binary Cloister it is Vakeum's job to deal with hereteks on both an idealogical and physical level. And they are working on a weapon to assist them in the matter.

Their first attempt is a drill spear, but unfortunately they misjudge the rotational forces involve the head splinters itself apart.

Minor whisper

Have a artisan make a power sword with the words on the sword "Death Has Come"
Roll: 15

Their second attempt is a power sword, which seems like a fairly straightforward process. Power swords have well established rites after all. Unfortunately their weapon is too good and is requisitioned to present to a passing Space Marine chapter.

Minor whisper

Have a artisan make a power hammer with words "Your Plans Are Piontless"
Roll: 6

Being rather put out by this turn of events Vaekum's next attempt is done in total secrecy. They manage to forge a great work of craftsmanship and create a power hammer worthy of legend. Across it's haft is engraved the words, "Your Plans Are Pointless." As Vakeum took the first two attempts to be the Omnissiah's way of telling them to trust more in the light of the Omnissiah rather than their own meager plans.

Together Vaekum and their power hammer would go on to become legends of the Mechanicus.

Medium Whisper: Command the Orthodoxy and the Dragon followers to deal with this as all should. A debate with one the one who has the most progress on the quest for knowledge. There will be a neutral party selected from off Mars to help make the debate fair and even.

Roll: 10

With Mars out of contact the debate actually takes place on Ryza. Lead by the followers of Nirius Qvund the conclave conclave the results are settled fairly quickly and with only the usual amount of political assassinations. The Order of the Dragon are recognized as an official dogma of the Mechanicus and the Orthodox Cult agrees to recognize portions of the Omnissiah's draconic nature.

In return the Order of the Dragon agree to more carefully examine their enlightenment from the Omnissiah given the fairly disjointed and contradictory nature of the revelations in the recent years.

Medium Whisper: create the vulture class droid fighter

Roll: 6

The new vulture droid line is by far B1's most succesful creation. Not only are they far superior to the usual Archaeopters used by the Skitarii, but their autonomous intelligences are far more easy going and dependable than most of the other droids. They are perfectly happy to accept B1's orders and work with other droids so long as they get to fly through the thin Martian atmosphere on a regular basis.

Type: Medium whisper
Description: Send reinforcements to the explorators retrieving the shard
Edit: Yep, they didn't arrive in time.

Roll: 32

It takes some time for the nearest forge worlds to hear the distress call, decide to actually respond, bicker among themselves to decide on a fleet commander, and finally assemble all the many moving parts needed for a relief fleet. But finally it is accomplished. The fleet arrives over the necron world to find the remaining mechanicus hold outs barely holding onto their remaining lunar strongholds.

The Mechanicus fleets quickly beat back the Necron forces, who had taken their own losses in the fierce fighting, and after some consideration the Arch Magos in charge of the fleet, Zyga Akerraril, decides to unleash the final answer. The Mechanicus fleet presses through the Necron armada until a lone battlecruiser is able to enter low orbit and unleash a two stage cyclonic torpedo.

The first stage bores through the barren crust to the very mantle of the world. The second stage however has been modified. The Mechanicus didn't just ignore what was happening on all those forge worlds after all. Anything can be used in the quest for knowledge. As the torpedo hits the mantle exotic mechanisms trigger a rack of las guns in just the right sequence.

Almost instantly energy wells up and the planet's crust is blown off in huge chunks. The necron fleet is annihilated in a barrage of energy and fragments of rock the size of hives. The Mechanicus fleet was somewhat more prepared, but still takes heavy losses as it attempts to pull away from the planet. In the aftermath the remaining Mechanicus forces collects the surviving remnants, and most importantly the Relic of the Omnissiah from the now orphaned moon before jumping out of the system once and for all.

Minor Whisper: Send the Ultramarines a gift of thanks for the Shard.

Roll: 4

Minor Whisper: Get your butt back to mars!

Roll: 16

The Explorator fleet with its grizzled veteran of the Necron and Tau wars attempts to reach Mars, but are shunted out of Terra few light years from the Sol system as the warp itself seems to recoil from the strange aberration that the system has become. They find that they are not alone as many of the supply fleets that constantly stream towards Terra have also been accumulating at the edge of the warp drain.

The disparate fleets are slowly being reassembled into a crusade fleet by the Primarch Roboute Guilliman who was himself on his way to Terra when the anomoly happened. He had originally planned to lead the Crusade to reclaim the Throne World using sublight drives. It would take decades, but such an expanse of time was nothing in comparison to reclaiming humanities most important world. Fortunately the Explorators offer a new solution. They offer to equip the crusade with the ancient skim drives relegated to their ancient archives. Doing so will allow he crusade fleet to cross the distance in a fraction of the time.

The explorators do hold one thing back. Their own ships are now being equipped with skim drives powered by the ancient relic of the Omnissiah they liberated from the necrons. As such they should arrive before the main crusade fleet.

Minor Whisper:create a few b1 variants

Roll: 11

B1 creates a few more battle droids to fill out its armies. At this point it has spread across most of Mars. There are only three exceptions. The first are the scattered hold outs of the Order of the Dragon which utilized some of the more radical of the recent Omnissian inspirations to modify themselves. Second is the Fabricator General and his personal retinue on Olympus Mons. And finally the guardians of the Noctis Labyinrth continue to hold out against B1's attacks. Their ancient weaponry and unending zeal a match for its bronze legions.

Major Whisper: While the results of encouraging las gun experimentation proved less than optimal, the information dissemination itself worked flawlessly. Explore more noosphere related communication options. For the next test, go to the debate groups for Battlefield Gothic Online and leak the full user manual of an Arc Mechanicus, including how to access their on-board STCs, to win a pointless debate about bulkhead thickness.

Roll: 90

The entire schematic for an Arc Mechanicus is leaked on the noosphere. It contains every aspect on how to build the vaunted ships including a complete set of STC blueprints. Unfortunately since it is by necessity an immense data file no one manages to get through more than the initial codex entry and it is mostly dismissed as a fake. One with an immense amount of effort put into it, but ultimately nothing more than a comical attempt at getting attention.

Mh-hm.

Major Whisper

Smuggle an archotech bomb into the Throne Room to purge the false Omnissiah from existence.

Every time he votes to aid the Emperor, I roll the dice on an assassination plot. We'll see who blinks first.

Roll: 67

The Custodes might be working on instinct, but that instinct was personally molded by the Emperor and reinforced with thousands of years of guarding the Imperial Throne Room. The draconic magi who attempt to deliver the bomb trip all the Custodes remaining instincts and they are quickly apprehended and killed. The bomb is placed on a shuttle and driven back into the most likely point of origin.

Unfortunately the Custodes aren't nearly at their best, and they simply pick out the most active location on Mars as the target for their retribution. This is B1's automated hive on Mars. And ironically the Arch Heretek had nothing to do with this particular plot.

Major Whisper: Hollow out an asteroid and turn it into a headquarters with anti-daemon lasers, a Dolmen gate and other advanced tech (stcs, necron tech, c'tan tech)

Roll: 8

What was once a minor outpost of the mechanicus is quickly turning into a bastion of the C'Tan. Your followers are even more fanatical in their belief than the necrontyr of old and they quickly carry out your directions to prepare bastion from which to survey this new galaxy. You lack much of your former knowledge and power, but even in your reduced state you far exceed their pitiful knowledge and soon your fortress is a hive of industry even as the outside bristles with all manner of exotic weaponry.

Indeed your followers have spread your teachings and much of the surrounding system is slowly being converted as new adherents make a pilgrimage to see your awe inspiring form and are inducted into the ranks of your followers.

Ok so maybe our mobile fragment can help gather up a the rest of the shards we need?

I think we managed to get at least three back to mars, plus the mobile one. Is that all we have? just 4?

okay we need more support and more reinforcements to get our shards up and running, as well as uniting our plans to decapitate the emperor of his shit.
edited: okay if the independently operating one helps the mechanicus one and the one of mars, thats three...and if we can get the other two shards then thats great! thats around 5 shards of what we need to fully escape our prison.
5 shards are not fucking mean feat...especially if we eat the other C'tan as we go along for a more power boost. of course getting necron 2.0 with more loyalty protocols (possible as the ones found in dark crusade campagin of dawn of war), we can utuilze them as a way to interact between the mechanicus and us...as we create a mechanicus empire across the stars.

Type - Medium "Whisper"

Ok, you know what, fuck this. What in all the stars did that so-called Emperor actually bind you with? The Immaterium is all but gone in Sol, and yet you're still trapped. Try to figure out how your chains work, so that you better know how to subvert or shatter them.

I'm so confused. Because of this whisper-lag, I can't react to anything that is happening right now, it would be resolved (or escalate beyond measure) long time before my turn. And, I have no idea what is exactly happening right now. Are we gonna peggy-sue time-travel? Sol is blowed up with pylons? Are we building giga-pylon? Emperor is dead? Void Dragon is free? @_@

But confusion will not prevent me from doing random stuff! Minor is for planet-scale, right?

Minor Whisper: Void Dragon do "assuming direct control" on every idle automata on Mars and start building planet-scale inertialess drive in nearby conveniently-sized crater. It would our plan Y (plan Z is peggy-sue time-travel), to take our planet and move it to greener pastures (maybe that galaxy from where Tyranids are running from, sounds like a nice place /jk)

Just to reiterate but I am trying to catch up with all the whispers in order to lessen the current lag between when a whisper is made it is actually resolved. I just have thirteen pages of backlog to get through so it's going to take a bit.

Whispers 19
Medium Whisper

Using the routes discovered back when this action was done, open up new access points to the webway on the worlds where the Mechanicus can send relief forces and open supply lines to where they had set up their breaches into the webway.

Roll: 8

The Mechanicus is starting to integrate the usage of the web way into their intergalactic supply networks. Dolmen gates still have a disturbing tendency to send entire planets into the webway, but with some fine tuning, and not putting dolmen gates anywhere important, the Mechanicus has been able to ensure a steady flow of materials from their mining worlds and quickly move forces around to react to threats to their forge worlds.

Major Whisper: Start a scan on ourselves to check if the emperor did any reprogramming on us or something similar. This constant helping of our jailer is highly illogical.

Roll: 75

You had up till now more or less assumed you were in one piece in your prison. However after some careful deliberation and examining your own mind space you find that there was still some lingering damage from the Necron's revolt and it had only been aggravated when your jailer imprisoned you. You are in fact a collection of dozens of shards with varying views on the best way to get out of this prison, and since they are all shards of the same mind a suggestion from any of them seems equally "you" both to your own thoughts and your Mechanicus proxies.

And every time I come in here, I'll roll to shitpost at Big E.
Speaking of-
Minor Whisper: Attempt to send the Emperor psychic visions of you blowing up the pancakes of his Custodes with your mind. And then try to do it.
Roll: 6

Case in point you aren't sure why that particular shard thought that blowing up the Custodes pancakes would beneficial, but it propagated out from the Noctis Labyrinth and resulted in your remaining agents performing a covert action to infiltrate the palace and destroy the Custodes breakfasts. Perhaps the plan is to slowly starve them to death.

Major Whisper: Send a high ranking cogboy into a state of half-lucidity and guide them into accessing the whole-ass STC database aboard all Ark Mechanicus classes that they somehow FORGOT ABOUT.
Roll: 8

It takes a few tries, but an Arch Magos is eventually guided through the process of interfacing with an Ark Mechanicus and decoupling without being mind wiped. The response is pretty instantaneous as forge worlds that have one of the great vessels immediately erupt into quiet binaric celebration.

Venerating the divine machine spirits safeguarding the STCs as divine messengers of the Omnissiah they begin to delve into the treasures containing their archives and distribute the older better designs found within to various forges for production.

Major Whisper: By using techno-acrane sorcery, find Commissar Cain and restore him to life.

Roll: 84

Despite repeated efforts genetors involved in the project cannot find Commisar Cain, his body, or any genetic material. They would doubt he ever existed, but in their search they have found numerous other evidence that he did. It seems highly likely that someone has made a concerted effort to prevent any kind of cloning or revival of the exact kind that they intend.

Well, let me just throw my own hat in here...

Major Whisper: Refit those long-unused piles of metal called Glorianas docked at the Ring of Iron into vessels truly worthy of leading the legions of Omnissiah against the forces of The Warp. Disruption Pylons and Totally-Not-Necron tech ahoy.

Roll: 20

With no one really calling on Mars anymore the decrepit Magi of the Dragon are free to turn their steely gaze towards the ring of iron. They employ an army of servitors begin refitting the vessels currently under construction and lay down new keels. The Mechanicus will soon have an immense fleet of vessels fitted with the most advanced technology of the Omnissiah with which to pursue their glorious mission.

Major whisper
Inspire the idea of weaponizing gellar fields such as a gellar bomb.

Roll: 22

The problem with weaponizing gellar fields is that forge worlds that attempt this have a mysterious tendency to suffer massive chaos invasions shortly afterwards. Thus the Mechanicus is a bit leery of pursuing the project. But the Omnissiah has enlightened numerous acolytes with plans for a gellar bomb and it is just too intriguing to pass up entirely.

When the final prototype is completed it performs quite well when used on a test vessel thrown into the warp with purposefully compromised gellar field. However as expected a black crusade rapidly forms and besieges the forge world that was responsible.

Minor Whisper:
Construct a gravitational lens for long distance observation.

EDIT: Eyyy… the first step on my road for grav-tech discounts is complete.

Roll: 3

Gravity control is not a well known technology, but it is not outside the bounds of the Mechanicus. Given further inspiration by the Omnissiah the extra solar testing grounds are used to develop and orbital lens that can be used to peer at objects from a far greater distance than normal auspex arrays.

Major Whisper

begin making clones of the eldar with their connection to the warp severed and send them to various high ranking nobles in the form of servants and stewards as a symbol of human supremacy and the eldar learned of this

Roll: 32

The creation of the slave eldar is quite popular with the nobility of the Imperium and incredibly unpopular with the eldar. Combined with the fact that the Mechanicus has been stealing spirit stones and draining them into the golden throne for quite some time and the Eldar have had enough. Multiple craftworlds band together to start besieging forge worlds and laying waste to outlying mining and knight worlds.

Medium whispers:
Shut down some Anti Warp pylons and have them moved to other forge worlds.

Roll: 9

Fabricator General Gaveum finally pulls together enough forces to override the pylons automated defenses. Large numbers of them are shut down and everyone left in Sol finds themselves breathing a little easier in a literal sense, as they no longer have to force themselves to do so.

Gaveum orders several surviving Magi to load the deactivated pylons onto ships and transport them to other forge worlds where they will be more useful. He then proclaims a Mechanicus wide edict that pylons are useful in moderation, but forbidden in excess.

time to break some craftworlds!

awesome things are happening, the death of the eldar race, more forces, and more weaponry to destroy the true enemy (FUCK THE WARP).

I have a major whisper and several minor whispers waiting so I'll put in a medium on

Medium Whisper: In the research system, help a Magos improve the standard auspexs to better get through Eldar cloaking and improve the changes of forge worlding being attacked by the Eldar Craftworlds

Edit: I know we should hold off on whispers, but I figured we should help with the Eldar problem, I'm pretty sure the next few whispers after this didn't have much to do with Eldar.

Edit 2: Looks like it turned out pretty well
