Can we not go to WH40K? A lot of the choices already give us a serious disadvantage in different ways, and I'm pretty sure that I Just Write has made it clear that there's basically no chance to actually win in that setting, and that's ignoring the disadvantage most of the choices have.

Unless people are just voting for that to purposefully try and ruin the quest before it can start.

Then vote for star wars in any plan you make for places you want to go to. It has a decent chance of winning.

If you go to 40K you can expect to bad end every third post or so. Without I Wanna Be The Guy or a cloning backup system a bad end translates to "time to make a new character".

No, also, please be aware that by phrasing it like that you get people like
voting with it like that which means vote counting bots will now only display him as voting "no" instead of whatever plan he voted for. it breaks the vote to do that.

Also, I am pretty sure only one person out of 10 actually voted for WH40k setting

Also, @Gunman, if you don't want to start in warhammer 40k then vote for any of the other plans.

[X] Plan the Omnimessiah of remenent
We had 10 people voting for 10 plans. now we have 11 people voting for 11 plans. Woo for splitting the vote.

meh, fine. I am gonna break the tie here by changing my vote from my own purely awesome plan to
[X] Deathstorm50
Although if someone is interested in my own awesome plan, let me know, vote for it, and I will change my vote back as well

Name: Harry Dresden (Well, Kerman, given the whole Kerbal thing)

Top 3 pastimes
1: Reading
2: Tabletop Games
3: Video Games

Previous Occupation: Aerospace Engineer
Current Occupation: (elected) Ruler of Kerbkind

Personality: A slightly nuts, nerdy ex-military accountant who spent a brief stint as a private investigator to pay off his student debt once he left the military, Harry spent the next 12 years of his life working as an aerospace engineer. While rather cynical and lazy, he's still willing to stand up for others when push comes to shove. This, combined with his somewhat endearing flavor of madness, means that those friends he has are extremely loyal to him. Now he's somehow gotten himself reincarnated as the ruler of a burgeoning interstellar empire and has an inkling sense of deja vu.

Location: Star War Galaxy (uninhabited chunk of the middle rim)

Transition: Hybrid non-con ROB and Native

Sorry, but how do I make this my vote? Do I put the [] in front of every single line? Do I put it once at the top with the plan name?

Also, isn't the X-COM detriment a bit too much? X-COM is utterly doomed without funding, and even with the upgrade there is still the added detriment were the invasion is more extreme. If you consider the fact that the developers said the canon ending for X-COM is that they were completely ruined in the very first mission (off-topic, that really annoys me. They justify X-COM losing being canon by saying that most players didn't finish the campaign on the highest difficulty. Forget everyone else who played and what they accomplished...), then even voting for X-COM would be a failure.

Are several of these game choices traps or something?

Sorry, but how do I make this my vote? Do I put the [] in front of every single line? Do I put it once at the top with the plan name?
Ideally you do both. The vote counting bot will get if you just put a plan name at the top like so
[X] Plan awesomesauce

Every line you put a
[X]
-[X]
--[X]
etc at the begining of will show up on the vote counting bot, so it means that when someone posts a votecount like I did at The SPECIFIC Gamer quest | Page 3 (check the spoiler), it will show the whole plan which makes it easy for people to see all the plans at a glance and choose yours, basically, its advertising your plan better if you put
[X] in front of every line that is part of the plan.
Although please don't put it in front of justifications, only in front of the actual plan to avoid spamming the vote count with too much text.

To vote for such a plan you can put
[X] Username
like
[X] mrttao
will mean voting for whatever my plan is
or you can just go with the plan name like
[X] plan awesomesauce

The vote counting software automatically counts only the last vote you made. So no need to go back and edit. This specific post where I am explaining things to you is not going to break my vote because I put
#####
in it which signals vote counting bots to ignore it.

EDIT: note, that vote counting bots ignore anything inside a quote box, but will see inside a spoiler box

I think I'll vote for this one. It looks pretty interesting. And thanks for the explanation, mrttao.

I say plan space Kraken is best...

Praise be to the elder kerb!

Also, if we DO go star wars, will it be old Republic? Galactic civil war? Clone Wars? New Republic?

Personally I'm not really a fan about playing in a fictional setting, particularly the ones I have no interest in.

then vote for Deathstorm50's plan, which has us being dropped in 1150 IRL earth with an Xcom base, the aliens from xcom are invading, but we don't have local modern 21st century tech countries to drawn on for support. but we do have some extra tech ability of our own

It has about the same amount of votes as my own plan: 1.
It has (well, had) 2 votes, since I switched my vote to it ... that being said. I just noticed that I misread your vote, I thought it was invalid because you failed to include a build, but now I notice you put down the "humanity first" premade build, and have it happen in real world earth, that is actually not a bad setup. I like it. so I am switching my vote to your plan
[X] Gunman

the question then is does this count as a win for your plan, or if it merely ties with dwarves to the infinity (dwarf cyborg in warhammer 40k) since AZATHOTHoth vote is for dwarves to the infinity plan, but with starwars universe instead of wh40k, except he then later said he is ok with 40k without making a proper vote.
But yea, there is still a pretty big risk of us going to be in warhammer 40k setting.

@Deathstorm50 any chance I can convince you to switch your vote? Ours are both pretty similar. I think modern Earth as a base would be better for fighting off aliens though.

So is the OP counting the votes by plan?
Nope. Vote's locked now by the way. I'll be doing another vote count once I'm done with my morning shower and other such things.

NOTE: I do it manually, as I find the results of the automatic tally to be incomprehensible. Not only that, but I don't know how.

Powers (upgraded powers take precedence, but there's only room for two of them. They also count as a vote for the basic power when you get to that phase. Basic Starcraft counts as an upgraded power for this purpose. In the event of a tie, QM goes by personal preference. That last bit applies to all stages of chargen.)

-You are in the military, but not one of those oh so famous special ops or even a grunt. No you are an accountant (or other similar) and not one of the whizzes, just an ordinary guy that knew some math and needed the money.

You live a fairly boring life thats major challenge up to now has been avoiding those remedial training sessions that the more combat capable grunts keep sending your way, every time you audit them. It was boring but a good enough life and the free time has combined to give you a love of the games and books that entertains you when your work gets you down.

Now if only you didn't have this creeping sense of doom ever since you shut down one particularly stupid idiot on SB last night, idiot thought that (insert chosen games here) would be an awesome cross-over universe. You proved him wrong of course but now your gut is sending you signals worse than that time the Army got pissed and 'accidentally' signed you up for Ranger Air-drop training, you got out of that one but only because you were owed that favour.....: x
