The Path Unending (A Cultivation Quest)

[X] Yes! Greatness and trauma for all!

This arc has generally been fantastic storytelling and I'd like to see what Ves can do to tie this all together.

<Surprise. Confusion. Hatred.>

The pressure on me redoubles and I'm dragged from my thoughts to see the now-formless creature staring at me. Something akin to disbelief settles on its blank expression. "Are you… ignoring me?" it asks, voice hushed. "Do you not understand the fate that is about to befall you? In moments, you will no longer exist."

My mind goes blank- and as so often happens, my mouth moves on its own.

"Maybe so," I hear myself say. "...but you failed last time. I may as well consider all possible outcomes."
Also, I haven't said it yet, but this moment right here?

Fucking amazing line. Siani would be very proud.

While I'm usually a bit leery of letting go of control, in a situation like this things could absolutely go bad even if we try and play it optimally - we are going into this with two boxes of mental stress and one of physical stress, with a newly-integrated technique that can do some really cool shit at the cost of mental damage. And... I not only appreciate that we're being asked, but have faith in Ves' writing skills.

(Even if he could afford to chill from time to time.)

Here's to trauma. And to recovering from it after the fact.

I know some people don't' like the idea of the QM taking the wheel but it seems okay in this case. It was our collective choices and the whims of the dice that got us to this point and it will be the same things that dictate how Zhi deals with the aftermath of this. Also Vis has been planing this for the last four years I think letting him to have some fun after he has worked so hard for is only far.
edit: grammar

Alright, even with the negative consequences of this I don't mind letting you see the results of what you've been waiting for for so long :p

Mm, I do really like having the reins for a boss fight, that's always epic. Especially one that's been so heavily built up to.

However, Ves has noted that he has cool ideas which would be too hard to pull off using the base quest mechanics... And I'd hate to throw cool ideas in the trash. Hard choice but I'll go with...

In other news, I'm really glad the funeral was enough. I thought that preventing the moment of Liyu finding Liren's body would have an effect, but I was worried that simply burning the body was too simple and missed some other thing we had to take care of to break the loop. I guess I overcomplicated it in my head. I'm happy that the rest of the voters acted on the winning plan while I was hesitating.

Don't love it, but I think a QM writing what they want will always lead to a better story.

I am admittedly sad that we'd be losing out on the chance to mitigate the consequences of failure, but I'm torn at the risk of losing out on an epic battle sequence even if it'll burn a bit going down.

In the end, I'm voting this way because Ves probably wouldn't have offered if there wasn't something truly epic waiting in the wings with a steel chair.

Alright, Ves. Trust. Show us what you've got!
