Don't worry, Emps isn't going to kill, maim, or strip us of our power. He's just going to voice his anger and disappointment.

This might include us being punted through a few walls, but don't quote me on that.

Not to worry, if anyone will throw you through walls it's Malcador. :V
Malcador: "COULD YOU FUCKING NO-"

Twins: "About that...this completely derailed Kelbor's plans to get total access and heavy control of the Warpal Reefs."

Malcador: "-t leave me out of the loop next time you're going to spite one of my political opponents?"

Kesar: "No promises are made."

As amazing as that would be, Malcador is more worried about disagreement among the Primarchs trickling down to regular people disagreeing with the Emperor's decisions, and the Primarch's rulership. Essentially he knows the Imperium is essentially a dictatorship at the highest levels, and also that dictatorships that are questioned have issues.

I'm being reminded why Eli taking over is the "best" decision after Aldrich because Eli won't question the decision-making of Emps. The problem, of course, is that he's got his own visions of what the Imperium can become rolling around in his head.

Pretty much, if anything Kesar's actions are just going to make this even more solid in Malcador's mind. With the doubters starting to gain traction, centralizing control over the Imperium is essentially needed in his eyes. Even if that requires some significant reorginazation.

And Eli is one of the original masterminds behind the Black Brigades. How appropriate and useful if Malc does decide to start cleaning house.

"I believe that if you think this matters enough that you are willing to do what you have described, and need my insight to confirm, then I shall trust your judgment," Kesar spoke, while he was hesitant when it came to Vulkan's reforms, he was still a trusted friend and brother, so he would support him where he could.

Seeming to sense this, Vulkan perked up, clearly relieved, "thank you Kesar. Your words help me be sure I have made the right decision." Leaning over to squeeze the Second Anathema's shoulder in solidarity, this was thankfully for Kesar, less bone crushing than his earlier embrace.

Clearly hesitating, Vulkan warred with himself before Konrad interrupted. "How much help should we expect? None of this matters if our dear "father" demands we take the Mechanicum's place in the Maelstrom."

"As much as Kelbor has secured his position, neither the Emperor nor Malcador would accept it when they learn of it," Vulkan's tone belied his worry, but also revealed a sense of anticipation as if his entire being was still supportive of his actions.

Kesar thought about it, as much as he did trust Kelbor-Hal, he also understood that his interest might not align with those of the Imperium. Invading the Maelstrom again would be a difficult task, but one that would be rewarding still. New technologies, and new resources would become available. Not to mention whoever performed this task would … Kesar's head snapped up, his thoughts blazing at lightning seed. "Let me take over cleansing the Warpal Reefs region, the claiming of these daemonworlds." The Second Anathema let the words hang in the air, as Vulkan stared in surprise, while Konrad twitched in an odd manner. "This is the task my sons and I are meant for," Kesar continued in order to fill in the silence, "and it will allow you to put your focus on this wager and make your reforms a reality."

The Primarch of the Wardens heard a faint sound, like the mad laughter from a corpse. Then he saw a rather disturbing sight, Konrad, laughing. The laugh was disorientating, seemingly coming from everywhere at once. Kesar suppressed the urge to look behind him, even as he was sure the shadows themselves seemed to grow darker. "He does that sometimes," Vulkan sighed. "He gets scary when he's amused."

"It's my nature," the Night Haunter responded glibly. "Watch out for the Sigillite," Konrad said as he turned towards Kesar. "He's the one that'll take action."

"Yes … " well, this was as good a time as any to reveal the news. "The Emperor … might not be whole enough to take action." To Kesar's surprise, neither Vulkan nor Konrad seemed to be that surprised by it. "We found some things on Nuceria, disturbing things."

"I'm going to stop you there," Konrad stated bluntly, only mildly interested in the conversation. "If you think it'll change him, don't bother. The Emperor has made his decision, and already accepted the consequences."

Kesar frowned, leaning forwards, "do you …?" The implied 'have any insight' hung there, as Konrad seemed to have an internal debate.

"Nothing you don't already have," even as he spoke, Kesar was sure the Night Haunter was keeping something from him, Vulkan himself seemed to be distracting himself, doing his best not to pay attention. "And even if you found what you seek, it would not change anything."

"Even if - " Kesar began, about to explain the situation around Angron.

A claw slammed into the table with an almost deafening sound, creating a clawed handprint within it. "DON'T!" Konrad snarled, "we cannot fake the reaction to this reveal at the Tribunal."

"He's right," Vulkan agreed, "the Emperor will forgive your second invasion of the Maelstrom in time, he would not forgive a second slight, even if he wouldn't take meaningful action."

"About that …"

Konrad twitched once more.

"Kesar … " Vulkan began carefully, "what have you done?"

"There is a chance," Kesar began explaining, holding up a hand placatingly, "that I may be organizing a walkout during the Tribunal."

The sound of muffled laughter came from the Night Haunter, which Vulkan and Kesar desperately tried to ignore. "How … how many of our brothers are planning to join this?"

"At the very least," Kesar thought back to the letters he sent, and the responses he received, "Mortarion … " that seemed to bring Vulkan some relief, "... and Horus."

The relief vanished like water in a desert. And was replaced by Konrad losing control of his laughter and unleashing it.

It took him a full thirty seconds to regain control of himself, time after which the Night Haunter panted down air. "Oh little brother, you certainly know how to attract attention."

Kesar and Vulkan stared at Konrad, both moderately disturbed by the laughter that was far more unnerving than it should have been. "Firstly," Vulkan swallowed, "please never do that again." Kesar nodded in agreement. "Secondly," Vulkan resumed, "do not do this without expecting some backlash." He rubbed his temples, "Lion is going to be furious."

"Will you join it?"

Those four words shouldn't have caused as much of a facial twitch as they did on Vulkan's face. Weakly, he desperately tried to grasp what sanity was left in this conversation, "what?"

"The walk-out, don't feel pressured to, but I would appreciate your support." Before Vulkan could even begin to parse that request, Konrad lightly pulled him back, having gotten up at some point.

"I believe this conversation requires a different mindset," the Night Haunter stated in an amused tone, a rare genuine smirk on his corpse-like lips. "It takes a special mind to look at the warp and think 'I can take it.'"

Kesar blushed in embarrassment, "it's not that special," he muttered, convincing exactly no one. "Didn't you crash your ship at maximum speed into a planet I was fighting on? If anything that's far above my thoughts on what I could survive."

"The thing my ship hit survived with minor wounds," Konrad bluntly said, "you fought two of those at once in the Maelstrom while protecting your sons. At least I only took on a weakened one."

"Anyways," Vulkan interjected in a slightly high-pitched tone, "thank you for this, genuinely. The Emperor won't pay attention to us for years after the Tribunal."

"You made my armor," Kesar began, "and you helped craft the blade I hold now." Stepping forward, the Primarch clasped the Lord of Drakes on the shoulders. "Let me be the armor and blade you need, to master this accursed stain upon the galaxy."

"I'll find something worthy to thank you for this, I swear Kesar."

"You could start with a hug," Konrad said in a deceptively bored tone.

Kesar's eyes widened before Vulkan did exactly that, forcing a soft squeaking sound to come from the Daemonsbane.

While heading over to Olympia for the party, Kesar had some time to himself, time in which he worked on some of his projects. His work on the rune planet had somewhat atrophied. Not enough to make him start once more, but enough for the road to remain a slog, something he truly didn't enjoy. Regardless, he had a fair bit of work today, and so he recovered his runic tools and began to work on

You have 10 action years, as it is, 10 are locked. This can be changed
[X] Rune Planet (5 action years)
[X] Rune of Subtlety (3/8 years) (5 action years)
[] Write-in

Of course, runes weren't the only topic Kesar covered, while his secondary projects might not bring much, it was still valuable to cover, providing him much-needed insight and context. He might not be able to spend longer than a few days or hours on these, but they still provided him with ways to help.

Pick 3 other actions
[] Start writing letters to the Lord Commanders of the Imperium
[] There's sure to be some cults around, start trying to find them
[] Start reading the information provided by the Emperor, while you will need a dedicated sit-down, having some context is still valuable
[] Work on the psyker chaplain project for the Legion
[] Look into trying to find new methods of training for the Legion
[] Try and see what the Imperial Army is working on, they almost certainly need some assistance
[] Considering how close the Squats are to the Maelstrom, reading up on them would be valuable
[] Make a new symbol for the Wardens to commemorate the victory over the Maelstrom
[] Look through the Imperial Army for noteworthy individuals, promote those with merit, and demote those without
[] The Sisters of Silence maintain a notable distance from the Legion, see if you can make headway breaching it
[] Visit the Memorial Planet in making, now seems like a good time to do so
[] Look into the Vigilance's machine spirit, after the Maelstrom War it's likely grown

I want to investigate this, it may pay off to learn more about Machine spirits as strong as the Vigilance

[] The Sisters of Silence maintain a notable distance from the Legion, see if you can make headway breaching it

We did recently gain a SoS hero in the Maelstrom after losing Inzhun.

Given how bad we're about to cheese off the big man, we might wanna study the data dump before he smacks us down. As it is we can probably kiss our psyker powers goodbye.

For those complaining about certain Imperium actions and beliefs this is one way to improve the competency of our own attached forces as well as ensure certain folks with opinions we disagree or agree with are elevated or demoted accordingly.

imagine if in 40K kesar died, but was then merged with the Vigilance? Part of the Ship. Part of the Crew.

Daemons check their closets for Kesar.

Given that demons appear to be nudists, wouldn't the mere presence of a closet imply the presence of Kesar?

its the warp, so the daemons will check their closets...and then look under the bed...only to find that the covers/bed WAS KESAR ALL ALONG!!!

it was all a elaborate trap by the wardens to lure he daemon into a household in the warp with a libarian mimicing their Wife, Husband, child, ect. Then with a wholesome family union only for it to realize too late at the last second these werent its "family", but the wardens and alpha legion all along!

I'm really not a 'plan guy', more 'a guy on the discord server who rambles about lore and weird ideas' or something like that. But I think this plan could work out well.

[] Plan: Silvery Subtle Anathema Styles a new Symbol.
-[] Rune Planet (5 action years)
-[] Rune of Subtlety (3/8 years) (3 action years)
-[] Rune of Silver (1 action year)
-[] Rune of Anathema (1 action year)
-[] Start reading the information provided by the Emperor, while you will need a dedicated sit-down, having some context is still valuable

First up, the Rune reasonings. Rune Planet needs to get done at some point, yadda yadda, we get that. Subtlety is what we've been working on for a while, it'll do a world of good for a lot of stuff, Alpharius and Omegon can enhance its effects and use it very well, I think we all get those two things.

Silver is something that was, due to an omake reward, guaranteed to be finished in just one year. It grants +1 to Corruption Resistance and Anti-Daemon from what I recall, which isn't a lot but due to being a basic rune it's extremely easy to produce en masse. And, unlike the Rune of Purity, can be shared to others without worry.

Since we're going all in on attacking the Maelstrom's Warp-y remnants, and since a lot of the Imperial Army is still going to manage and colonise those hell worlds, having a cheap (by comparison) access to Chaos resistant runes is gonna go a long ways to help. And it (if I'm not mistaken) will just also boost the quality of the metal silver, so that's a nice side-benefit.

The Rune of Anathema is where things go interesting. You see, Rune concepts go in tiers. The Basic Rune of Purity is, in-fact, the Rune of Silver. The highest possible tier for the Rune of Purity, the Primal Rune of Purity, is the Rune of Anathema. Which Kesar Dorlin can now carve because he is now an Anathema, as all you need to get it is to pass the requirement for what's needed.

Primals Runes are not just a tier above Grandmaster Runes (which is what the current Rune of Purity is at), they are the equivalent of the difference between a really powerful Space Marine compared to the Emperor in terms of power-scale. This is a tier in which the Silent King himself, the winner of the War in Heaven and probably one of the most dangerous single things in the galaxy right now, would be interested in getting. Daemon Hunter said it'd be worth twenty years of study to get this.

For reference, 'C'tan', 'Reality', 'Chaos', 'Nex', 'God' and 'Rune' are all Primal runes. As well as 'Meme', as in an idea passed down instead of the common internet-based meaning.

We can get it in one year, auto-success without any rolls needed. And it has other special effects and narrative stuff to it too, but what that entails won't be revealed yet.

Uh, aside from that, starting to study the info Emps gave us is a big deal. That's a big part of the plan we have with Mortarion, Horus and Magnus. And useful for if we do the Astartes project with the Emperor and Fabius, as well as the psychic awakening thing, assuming we still get to do those of course. And it's just generally really, really useful to have this information to use. There's too many things we can do with it to list, really.

I'll be honest, making a new symbol isn't strictly speaking needed. But it helps morale, especially for a battered Legion that's just recovering itself to turn around and go back to invading literal hell again. And gives mechanical bonuses way, way later. Mainly this is just for the narrative effects.

And, finally, Kesar is really good at researching interesting or dangerous Warp shit, and the Vigilance is a prime example of the interesting side of that. His Flagship, his personal ship, has probably the most active machine spirit out of any of the Imperium's current ships. Studying her could help Kesar figure out more stuff on the Vigilance, its machine spirit, machine spirits in general and other such things. Great time to do it too, as she'll head into the abyss once more.

So can we switch out for doing tech stuff instead of rune stuff? Because there are some really nice techs we could get that do all kinds of good things for us.

Like Void Shield Possible Mass Upgrade and Higher Order Fundamental Modeling for the Void Shield Mass Upgrade Implementation tech, which will let us see what we need to mass upgrade our Void Shields.

Or a similar set of things but for Teleportation. With the Teleportarium Range Upgrade and Teleportation Safety – Paragon : Requires Teleportarium Range Upgrade + ??? with fundamental modeling to figure out what the requirement is. We could put 8 action years into that, still do the silver and the anathema runes, and next turn get safe teleportation for us and anyone we share it with! That would be absolutely massive.

adding onto crazed ghost rider kesar ship idea, it becomes the Legion of the Damned, every loyal imperial soul that dies and goes into the warp is visited by kesar and asked if willing to give up afterlife to continue waging war against chaos and if yes they are merged into the ship which causes it to become ever so slightly bigger, stronger, faster, or harder, and have one more crewmate within. every daemon killed or caught by the Ship is dragged straight into the heart of the ship to be fed into its reactor where kesar purifies it into pure warp energy to fuel his never ending Crusade.
