I think that you are correct about the continents.

Also, I suspect that if we were not a superlative general, we would have had 33% SURVIVORS!

Skewfiend you are right about that except it would have been around 20% if you were an average general (Martial 10)

Bad news:
We are making a loss on all major resources. This is a terrible situation to be in. Promethium is the worst affected (even one of our promethium producing areas is making a net loss!); we'll run out in 5 turns if we don't do something about it. For comparison, we run out of cash in 20 turns, metal in 12 and material in 19 (not counting anything we want to use for actions/projects).

I suggest waiting until turn 1 starts before we start panicking. That way we will be far better placed to know how large the deficit is in terms of how many actions we need to take to return it to surplus. Then we can have a PROPER panic, if necessary.:D:grin:

Remember that at least at the start, we will be able to requisition resources through the administratum, which should see us through our teething pains.

You will notice all cities and landmarks are currently unnamed you can name them with a good write in. I will also give the city a bonus if named this way.

Indeed. With our admin, we know how to get tons of goodies via them.

We have at least two regions where we get fuel. Most of our fuel upkeep is from the Island areas.

Most of our fuel upkeep is from space assets (by area; the PDF is the biggest upkeep cost overall). Which doesn't really make sense imo; in most of the fluff they run on fusion engines, not oil (which, while fine and practical for ground based vehicles, is definitely not in space). I suppose it includes our bombers, fighters and cargo vessels, though, which probably be partly airbreathing.

Anyway, Omake time!(my first omake for any quest...I'm a terrible writer, so please give feedback)

Governor Rotbart sat in his chair, cautiously eating a Boomfruit (A plant native to Avernus that was, surprisingly enough, actually edible. Gets its name because when the fruit is ripe, any significant jostling will cause the kernel to explode violently, thereby dispersing the seeds) as he pored over a report on the progress of the pipeline and rail network. Today marked a full standard month since he had set foot upon the planet, and while he feared for his life everyday, he honestly thought he was getting a handle on living on the planet. Sort of.

He cast his mind back, contemplating that first day...

Rotbart stepped off the adamantium floor of the shuttle and onto the spaceport's ferrocrete, inhaling the smells of the world as he did so. He couldn't get a look at his new home from the sky; the shuttle didn't have a window, at least not in the passenger area. Looking around, though, everything looked exactly as he expected. The spaceport itself looked a lot like the one on Gallium III, if scaled down substantially. People all around, a significant number of them carrying rifles underslung, which was odd but unfortunately not terribly unusual for a hive. Beyond that, dug out of the mountain face that seemed to surround the spaceport, chimneys bellowing noxious fumes, without a doubt a sign of the planet's industry manufacturing tractors and other farm equipment. Why the factories would be underground, he didn't know for certain, as it would logically be more expensive to do so. Perhaps they were utilising deep underground geothermal energy, or it was more practical to place them closer to the mines? Or maybe they didn't want to pollute the useful arable land with a hive's polluted effluent, so they stuck all the heavy industry into the side of a mountain far away from where the farms were. Either way, he'd certainly be carefully looking over the planet's practices and optimising them, hopefully balancing the books in the process.

Rotbart's attention was directed in other places: "Hello there! You must be our new Governor. We're the heads of the major sub-departments," A group of 5 people, 3 women and 2 men, seemed to walking towards him, and he reciprocated the sign of the Aquilla that had been displayed towards him in greeting. "That's right; I'm Frederick Rotbart. If you don't mind me asking, how come the city appears to be at least partially underground?".

"Oh, that's to keep the city away from the animals. Downright evil, they are, those beasts"

The colonists had built a city underground because they didn't like being near their livestock? No, surely not. Not even the most wasteful and moronic government would do something like that. He had to consider that he was getting incomplete information, for a malicious reason. Or the person was simply misinformed. Or slightly out-of touch with reality. No better time than the present to start reshuffling your cabinet.

"You know, I was once attacked by a grox when I was a kid. But i'm sure that no number of agressive farm animals could possibly justify placing the planet's major population centre inside a mountain"

Laughter all around. "Ah, you're such a joker my Lord. You'll need that living on Avernus, for sure."

These people were weird. He hadn't said anything funny. Maybe they all agreed to act oddly when greeting, as a joke. Rotbart supposed that living on an agriworld, there can't be that many interesting things happening day-by day.

'That's probably going to be me in a month' He mused, and headed for the truck that would take him to his new post.

You will notice all cities and landmarks are currently unnamed you can name them with a good write in. I will also give the city a bonus if named this way.

My proposals:

Avernus Prime: Also called Dis.

I can't think of any others, but our capital has to be called Dis.
Edit:
Alpha-1: Fossa
Alpha-2: Mt. Disappointment
Alpha-3: Saxum
Alpha-4: Tartarus
ALpha-5: Obitus

Okay so divided by region:

Alpha: Mountains, Metal
Avernus Prime

3 Major Cities:
- Alpha-1: Safest, Northern, built inside Worm tunnels, known for good luck
- Alpha-3: Largest (outside capital), Embattled, constant fighting, successful, fertile valley
- Alpha-4: Peaceful, Volcanic, Deadly Gases

1 Minor City:
- Alpha-2: Avalanche prone, much of the cite collapsed, refugees, heroic battles

1 Regional City:
- Alpha-5: Swarm of worms undermined the city, everyone evacuated except the citadel, stubborn population

Beta: Islands, Proth.
2 Major
1 Minor
1 Ruined
1 Crater

Gamma: Forest, Metal
2 Major
1 Minor
1 Regional

Delta: Swamp, Proth. (Only region with +Proth.)
3 Major
1 Minor
1 Ruined

Epsilon: Plains, Fertile
2 Major
1 Regional
1 Ruined
1 Crater

Zeta: Desert, Ruins
3 Major
1 Regional
1 Ruined

So get to naming everyone.

I would like to rename Alpha 3 to "Helm's Deep", 1 of the Major Cities in Beta to "Storm's End", and the other Major city in Beta to "Fair Isle"

Flipping the Bird
Excellent Omake, Supercitus. the only criticism that I can make is that it suggests a greater level of development present prior to Rotbart's arrival than I had been led to believe.:D

I would like to explain why the mountain into which Dis is built is called "the bird".

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Drop trooper Phineas Virgil had a problem. It was not a major problem, compared to the ubiquitous existential threats that face any Avernite*, but it nagged him nonetheless. Everyone referred to the mountain into which his hive was built as the bird, for no reason he could readily discern. It looked to him not at all avian, just a normal, vaguely pyramidal mountain peak.

He finally overcame his fear of looking stupid one day, and asked his sergeant. The grizzled old Lethian just smirked and told him to ask again tomorrow when they were flying out of the hive.

The next morning, when his team left to go on manoeuvrers, trooper Virgil's sergeant called him over to the rear window of the dropship, and pointed out to where the bird towered over the other mountains, which extended to either side of it.

"Do you see the large mountain there, with the smaller peaks to either side of it?" asked the older man.
"Yes", replied a still bemused trooper Virgil.
"Does it look like Avernus is flipping you the bird? More so than usual, I mean."

Realisation finally dawned on trooper Virgil, and his laughter rang out across the dropship, drawing looks from the others.
Eyes fixed on the mountain that so resembled an upraised middle finger, he whispered to himself "Fuck you too, Avernus, fuck you too."
But his voice carried not a drop of venom.

*If no-one else minds, I would like to propose "Avernite" as the official term referring to a resident of Avernus. No, this is not the culmination of a shadowy and convoluted plot to make a video game reference. What do you take me for? :p

Nope. The Islands use 17k of the stuff every turn. They generate a fair amount as well, so it is reduced to 7k. But even so, space uses only 5k.

Please wait to name the cities until after I put up the regional description. Also you can name the garrison of Beta-1

Apropos of nothing, I'd just like to say, da name of dis forum makes absolutely no sense ta me.
Sufficient velocity? No such thing!

Updated list of named cities to include Gamma and Delta.

I noticed that you were missing the Ruined city from Gamma in the summary, so I went ahead and added it.
