At least we did not lose anyone important.

just as a note, I referred to several fets of herosism in the last update, omakes about them increase the chance that someone gets a trait from them, or let them get a better trait

I am now waiting for a wild greater daemons to appear on top of Frederick :p
It's been a while since his trait forced him into a Heroic battle.

It occurs to me that filling up Elysium actually isn't that much of a problem. All we'd have to do is fill them up with cities instead of hives. Individually one might not equal the defensiveness of a hive, but together it's really good, especially with all the overlapping fields of fire. It would also mean that we can move around troops way easier since they'd have lots of available routes to move through, so enemies can't just cut reinforcements off. Between that and the sheer amount of bases available, flanking enemy armies would be really easy.

Poor Zhukov and Paulson.

I wonder what those background rolls were that ate up our rerolls.
My guess is that PM use it to plan how to fight the main army, since a divination can be use to see a possible future interaction with another person doing divination (like our oracle talking with eldar)... or at last I think so.

And man I would like to see Avernus strongest general (amount all beings and creatures) to see if he/she/it is leading those creatures. And if our MC can surpass those lvls in the end (if he does not die that is).

Fire Walk With Me
Omake: Fire Walk With Me

Gerald Xavier strides forth and destruction follows.

Here: A militia bunker under siege, sure to fall in minutes. Gerald vanishes, appears in twelve places amongst the host. Daemons turn to strike, bloodletters screaming their fury.
Soul searing flame meets them as illusions unravel and ignite. The survivors cast about themselves confused, furious, enraged that they are denied their foe.
The militia reminds them: we are Avernite.

There: The pack hurl themselves at faint shimmer, brass collars bulwark against illusion. Brass collars do little against this blade.
Eight die to the first stroke, eight more to the backstroke. A handful of heartbeats he is among them; there is only death. Then he is gone.
The pack-harried psyker squad rallies; force weapons put paid to the ragged remains.

Here: The line of juggernauts contemptuously ignores the defenders' iron. They do not notice the odd angle of the iron rain's fall.
Rightmost beast impacts full seconds before it should, an oblique blow at that. Charge deflected, the beast caroms into its neighbor, fouling it in turn. So does the charge falter and collapse. As they do, commands Gerald placed in passing fade, and exhausted pines reveal the curve of road they kept concealed.
Their barricade unbroken, PDF bring death to downed beasts.

There: The skull tower halts its advance, front treads lifting into air. It teeters for a moment, then topples. Daemons gape in horror, a great stripped paw protruding from the ground. The paw vanishes and Mittens leaps from citadel wall securing fiends' flanks. Titanic tiger charges through ranks of the deamon engines; shredded, burning hulks in his wake.
So distracted the fiends by the monster among them, they notice not Avernite armor arrive.

Here: Fire blossoms in the gap, in an instant the flow of fiends cauterized. Gerald stands amidst molten wreckage, daring daemons to attack.
They do. They die.
Combat engineers rush to plug the breach.

There: Vast host claws its way up the cliffside, each eager to strike foe's foolishly forsaken flank. Herald is the first to the top, first to claw its way up onto the ledge. Greeted there by sight of burning bush.
Doomed daemons fall as stone turns brittle, crumbles under claws. Cliff is falling with them, atop them.
Few stand safe, deftly dispatched by determined defenders.

Here: Men made mad bare blood of brothers. Fire frees soiled souls.

And so Gerald Xavier walks, each step carrying him to a fresh battlefield, and fire walks with him. He lingers no longer than he must, staying only the span needed to buy his people the time and space they need to rally.
Thus is the Ash Hound's passage.

@Durin

Okay, warmed up a bit. Zhukov will probably take a bit longer.

One omake idea I had (but can't write because I won't have a day off for about a month):

Parents: Ophelia saves a crowd of people, including her parents who gave her up for adoption so long ago. She doesn't recognize them. Then she heads out to help either Tamia or Gerald.

I wonder how long these will last since we can expect 1-3 more updates and 1 more for afterwards. I think they are going to upset the planet mind and it will bring out the stuff it keeps hidden to make sure the prisoners do not come out.

Ick. Looks like a lot of our higher-level psyker trainees got Chaosed. One alpha died, one lived so far.

Did my omake have an effect on that, despite its status, @Durin?

In other news, I'll join the choir and go for

The things in the forbidden zone are keeping prisoner the mistakes the old ones made. Things so horrible that the old ones have contingencies for. Like that beast that can destroy all life in the Segmenteum. They are one of the reasons we cannot go into the forbidden zone.
We have no idea what is in the forbidden zone mate.

I mean it's possible, but Avernus is a lab...not a prison. the most likely one we know of is the unborn...the thing Durin has gone on record saying is game over should they ever be born.

Still we are not nearly close enough to that level of apocalyptic especially since Khorne's invading the wrong continent.

Signs we are that apocalyptic would be the Radience being deployed since that means shit is up so many creeks the possible destruction of the planet itself has to be put on the line.
