This is the logic of a brave Imperial-era PDF sergeant, not the logic of a 200+ skill-level Guradsman sergeant. If a grunt dies then all you get a dead low-level soldier, but if a sergeant dies you not only get a dead medium-level soldier, you also get several dead low-level soldiers due to them lacking optimal leadership. It's not nice to send subordinates to their probable deaths but it's necessary.
Andres, could you stop complaining about details in omakes? This part even makes sense.

Each one of the Ten Thousand represents genetic lore acquired over many lifetimes. Each one of you is unique, a work of art never to be repeated. I am miserly with your lives, where I would spend so many others without a thought.
@Durin, I have an idea for an action. Similar to the Terminator Armour Fabricator-General action, we'd get a Telepathica action where we augment a very small group of humans with alkahestry. We would, presumably, first have to get a hero that's good enough at alkahestry to do it, though.

once you have a master alkahestry it will be possible, doing things like enhancing Phase-Tigers or Tyrant Lizards would be easier though

Im pretty sure we didnt do anything with dreadnaughts ? It wouldnt be a horrible project but without tranth im not sure how great it would be atm and wouldnt suck to have it before the trade summit.

Also @Durin
how many dreadnaughts do our space marine have at the moment ?

@Durin, is Mittens applicable or does his whole situation make him a bit too different to be passed over with the same stroke?
a bit to different

a few dozen

@Durin 1 if we get blank bear DNa can we do a project with Nilfhiem to see study blank DNA?
2 if we find the Genes can we use Aria DNA ,Alkhestry and Science to create more people like her?

1. you can try
2. you can try, cloning both Blanks and Psykers has a real tendency of going horribly wrong in 40k though, or even more horribly right.

@Durin I meant use Aria as the base for a Mod to create more blank/psykers? We would take powerful major psykers with great control and mod them to be like her.

that would be near impossible, changing someones level of psychic power on such a fundamental level is no easy feat, having them sane at the end is a feat of legends, and you do not have a Paragon Geneticist with the right trait to make it even possible
the only things you know that have any similar effects are Gene-Seed (a creation of the Emperor) and Chaos Gifts

Huh, can a Space Marine also be a blank? Like, can Gene-Seed work on Blanks or Pariahs?

@Durin
Similar level to the stuff that went into Areatha or even harder?

harder, Areatha at lest was born with her powers rather then modded to have them and was not modded to gain a powerset inimical to the one she already had
and her project was in the height of the DAoT and had a single success out of over a hundred failures, many of which went rouge

Thought so.

Ahhh, so much potential beyond our reach. Grumbles grumbles grumbles.

Oh well hopefully we'll be able to expand our knowledge on mmm IDEA!

@Durin
1. During the Horus Heresy Emps gave Corvus Corax access to the information he used in the creation of the Primarchs and space marines so that he could rebuild his legion quicker. While the pure gene samples Corvus used were tainted by the Alpha Legion he should still remember the information due to the Primarch's perfect recall. Just suggesting this as an option for stuff Vulkan may have on the table as well as something the polity may be using to boost their numbers and purity of astartes. Well to elaborate Corvus learned the "common genome" of the Primarch, basically the basic parts that all the Primarchs shared. The Primarchs came about through emps either adding stuff to the genome (Canine DNA for example to Russ) or by emphasising certain aspects like strength in others. He also obtained his own perfected genome.
2. More of an academic question, would either the astartes or the Nyne be interested in seeing if they can alkhestrically enhance an astartes? It probably wouldn't work, but I am curious?
