Groen - The flooded world.

Agri-World - -1 .
Minor Ork Infestation - Your planet has an in minor infestation of orks, small raise in troop quality, ork raiders will occasionally attack, more likely to have orks invade from outside. -4

Abundant Promethium - +2
Ore rich - +1
Ogryns - Your world has a population of abhuman ogryns. +1

Groen is by the strictest technical definition an ocean planet, being almost entirely covered by a single sea, however due to a quirk of its geography the water is less than two feet deep in most places. The landscape of Groen is primarily flat flooded plains, broken up by few mountains and the occasional massive yawning flooded chasm. The planets most interesting feature is the vast flooded cave network honeycombing the planet, to the point that according to some calculations the planet is primarily water by volume. The planets unusual geography has been an object of intense study among the more academically inclined Magos among the trust.

The surface of the planet is covered in a vast skein of a type of kelp that can easily be processed into foodstuffs of middling quality. The kelp forms the basis of a simple ecosystem, with the local apex predator on the surface being a pisciform approximately a quarter of a meter in length. Larger and more dangerous creatures can be found in the caverns below, but so far nothing truly threatening has been encountered. This has made the world's surface immensely well suited to both fishing and aquaculture, however it proved to be a challenge to fight on. Between the deep soft mud and the omnipresent strands of durable kelp crisscrossing the surface of the water most tracked vehicles are greatly hampered, and even walkers have some difficulty. Most infantry suffered similar problems, with the mud and knee-to-waist high water greatly reducing mobility. Ultimately, jotun where found to be the force best suited force for combat on this world, by the simple virtue of having longer legs and stronger muscles. In fact their suitability for the worlds marshy conditions has resulted in a great many jotun colonists, causing Groen to become one of the few abhuman majority worlds in the trust.

The deep and vast caverns below the surface are a dramatically different environment to the kelp covered surface above. Complex currents draw vast amount of organic detritus from above, enabling the formation of a surprisingly complex ecosystem. Indeed, the caverns below have a far greater degree of biodiversity than the surface, the immense size of most caverns allowing for the evolution of much larger creatures. The orkish occupation of this world seems to have driven anything much larger than 4 meters extinct, but examination of orkish trophies suggest that the world was once home to creatures of truly staggering size. Whether the Leviathans of Groen have been truly exterminated or merely driven into the deepest reaches remains a topic of much debate, and only time will tell if the beasts will one day reemerge. While the caverns are far less lush than the surface, they are no less bountiful - rich veins of ore can be found criss crossing cave walls, easily found and exploited and deeper still the vast water pressure has crushed millions of years of organic detritus into vast reserves of promethium. However the aquatic nature of the environment has greatly hampered exploitation efforts, while the caves usually are wide enough not or be overly restrictive, their winding nature can make navigation time consuming, necessitating the boring of a number of tunnels. In addition to this the typical issues of underwater construction are present as well, however both the bounty and increased defensibility of these settlements has so far made the expenses well worth it.

The governor of the world is a jotun soldier-scholar named Askan Honigsberg. A renowned scholar of history and political science, Askan left a promising career among academia to join the Trust Guard. While he was a somewhat mediocre warrior by jotun standards he proved a capable strategist and a logistical prodigy, eventually rising to the rank of captain. He greatly distinguished himself in the taking of Groen, rapidly adapting to the unique quirks of the terrain which put him in the spotlight when the potential governors were chosen. As governor he has proven himself more than capable of managing the growth of his colony, quickly establishing Groen as a local breadbasket before using the additional trade revenue to compensate for the increased expenses of building submerged hives. He has stated a long term goal of moving all major population centers into the caverns, citing the danger of raids. Some have noted that he may have another motive, noting the focus his academic career had on the collapse of empires and the nations that survived them.

The population of Groen was drawn largely from jotun partially due it being the first world to be governed by a jotun, and partially because of there greater ease of movements in the shallow waters of the world. The remaining population primarily comes from Midgard as can be expected. The majority of the populace lives upon the surface, with approximately 30% living in below ground hives. The cultural character oer Groen can be described only somewhat inaccurately as relaxed - quiet contemplation and light debate are common past times. Some have commented that this is likely due to their worlds montonsus scenery, being either a uniform sea of green on the surface, or pitch black below. As a side effect of this, scholarly pursuits are highly valued, to the point that Groen already possess one of the better education systems among the trust. They are also slowly becoming known for the their expertise with antigravity systems, as the surface of their world necessitates a heavy use of skimmers.

The orkish presence on the world remains largely manageable, as the surface lacks any source of easy metal to enable production of dangerous weapons and the flat and open terrain allows for quick detection and extermination of any significant force. As such surface ork tribes are of little threat, however persistent ork holdouts hidden in the depths have been a moderate issue with small fleets of freeboota sinkas seizing cargo subs and raiding resourcing sites. So far there has not been any successful attack on a major settlement, but the infamous Kaptin 'arrstab has in recent years been gathering a concerning number of other kaptins to his banner, and has shown a worrying obsession with the city of Wit after suffering heavy injuries in a failed raid upon it. As of writing efforts to locate his hidden lair of failed, but the hunt is intensifying.

Militarily Groen can claim to be the trusts foremost expert in underwater combat, if only due to a lack of competition, though the experience gained from waging constant small scale wars against the orks in the stygian depths of the worlds underground seas should not be dismissed. While this is very much a niche specialty the security council has taken the position that it is of considerable, if not critical value, and has subsidized a number of programs intending to further develop the art of underwater combat and fortification. It is believed that in time Groen could provide aquatic assault forces to the trust, filling a narrow but useful niche.

@Durin:
1) have we told the Avernite natives about Vect and the Dark Eldar?
2) how are they responding to the fact that Chaos is about to get Eldar Empire tech?
3) have we asked the natives about leasing lower-end Old Ones tech?

Underwater Domes. The Tau have noticed that a number of worlds had less than exemplary living conditions even after terraforming efforts concluded, and worked to create spaces where they could live in normally hostile conditions, such as under the oceans, which was of particular value on world's with large amounts of surface water. The procedure is relatively simple. Build a dome, pump the water out, and then, other than the dome holding back a deadly flood, treat it as if it were a city on the surface. A few extra layers are made on the outside to avoid the dome holding back the water also being the only barrier to actual attacks from wildlife or invaders, though this does meant that internal entertainment is of greater priority since a dull grey expanse is boring, sometimes even maddening, to have to see everyday. This means that the initial investment is not cheap, as not only is the dome and it's layers expensive, but various luxuries to keep the population from going mad for much the same reason those trapped in month-long nights must be made available.

We got them. We've got an entire world under da sea.

I have the feeling that Durin is unimpressed.
Yes, but I believe when the tech omakes are jumbled up with canon and non canon he just shoves it into non canon.

For example, things like the NEP forge ended up canon, but the omake describing it is in non canon.

I think I understand @Durin we really have not suggested anything game changing or heretical enough to cause problems. :)

Antedil - Warhammer 40k - Lexicanum
Ok these guys are or were part of the cabal. Also had empathy abilities that could effect a Primarch. With ridiculous over powered sensory and abilities.

Antedil basic sensors- in these trying times the Antedil are willing to gift out there basic sensor technology to other races. By basic we mean sensors that can help track a target 20 light minutes out and provide a firing solution.

Dark glass shards Dark Glass - Warhammer 40k - Lexicanum the Eldar are willing to trade some of the dark glass candle shards. They say these was the precursor to the Golden throne and the Emperor studied it himself.

Fra'al
Fra'al - Warhammer 40k - Lexicanum

The Eldar are willing to act as middle men between the trust an d the fra'al. Even willing to sell ether weapons. Ether weapons are weapons that shot a energy pulse that can go threw any armor, overload void shields, Holofuelds and any other known ecm.

Their home is in the galactic north, if they were not annihilated when Eldrad killed the Cabal, Abbadon likely finished them off. Though if they are any left I'm sure we'd be happy to offer them a home :).

Precursor to the Golden Throne, not the Astronomican.

Also Dark Glass was made to breach the Webway, dunno if the Eldar would want to give any surviving shards to us.

Ok I changed about the golden throne but the shard but it is human tech and valuable. Also I am not down being heretical.

Also the Antedil live in gas giants not much can really hurt them.

Gas giants have strong gravitational forces that effect everything around them. As well as sending radiation out that can kill most things. he could try to blow up a gas giant but he might ignite it and get a star instead. It would be a lot harder to destroy a gas giant than a planet.

And he has space ships which can fire from a very very long distance rendering both points kinda mute.

Dude the Black Stone fortresses can destroy entire solar systems if two of them link up together, and neither they nor the Planet Killer use any kind of conventional attack that could ignite a star from a gas giant.

And if he decides he has the need (such as for example an entire species of creatures that can get inside his head) he will do it.

Destroying a planet has effects on the warp let alone destroying a solar shatter. Destroying solar systems effects the warp and changes the routes with the added bonus of creating waves in th warp. I guess Abaddon could make deals with demons but everyone else would be affected.

I dont see why gas giants would be difficult to attack, they are not going to turn into star's they don't contain anywhere near enough gas for that, if you ignite one it just burns up in time and if you can travel to planets close to a star's orbit then the gravity of a gas giant won't be an issue.

Jupiter is 11 times the diameter of earth. It has gravity strong enough to crush anything that gets in orbit of it . Also it gives out doses of radiation that will kill anything not shielded. I am not talking just about void shields but actual radation shields. Igniting it would literally cause a sun that would destroy anything in orbit of it.

You think he gives a shit?

He gives no shits he's got an entire segmentum, he doesn't care if a subsector goes to hell.

Even then the entire segmentum is chaos, everyone uses daemons.

Good for us then that we have ships strong enough to take it. I mean for heaven's sake man we have station in orbit siphoning fuel off gas giants

And as other people have pointed out if he did turn it into a sun that's also an effective way of killing them.

It would take a gas giant 13 time's the mass of Jupiter to create a small brown dwarf.
That's litterally what it would take for the smallest shortest possible star to form.

I wonder if getting the info on what it'll cost to tech trade will be worth an emergency high council meeting seeing as it's a big potential power boost for us.
