A Deus is not strictly speaking needed. The Planet Killer was destroyed by mere Lunar cruisers by kiting it with torpedoes.
I think the Deus is needed to penetrate the Chaos Navy guarding Abby's flagship. I don't like the chances of the Trust fighting a slogging match against the Black Imperium, so a decapitation strike is much preferred.
Granted that's more like a sledgehammer to the back of the head than a knife in the back, but still.

Yes, when it was on its own and didn't have escorts to screen for it. Pretty much any big ship is vulnerable in that kind of situation. Though thinking on it the Sword of Sutr could probably do some nasty damage to it with its own spinal gun, which would be hard to deal with.

Frankly if we're in a situation where we've engaged the planet killer then we've only really got one option, get a strike team aboard with the BCS and kill Abadon permanently before he can martial his forces at us.

If we don't then we're dead and might be dead even if we succeed.

And if they aren't, then what?
Then I suppose we go to them (in the future) tell them of our plight hope they believe us and they're amenable to helping us with the Grey Knights.

Best case scenario friends, they give us some of their gene seed as a just in case, help with the Grey Knights and ordo malleus tech in return they get an uplift package.

Or taunt him into trying to destroy Avernus.
I somehow get the feeling that just ends with everyone dead.

Us for intentionally encouraging him and him for pointing it at Avernus.

Still Grey Knights just jumped in priority too.

IMO Abaddon will attack us in force eventually. Currently he'll be too busy dealing with the Orks and generally expanding his empire in the direction he's chosen to bother, and the larger he makes his empire the more difficult it will become for him to hold it together because Chaos tends to be a bunch of backstabbing, ambitious gits and he'll have a lot of subordinates rebelling every now and then. Even so, eventually we're going to catch his attention. Hopefully by that time we'll be so fortified, and our fleet made so large, that we'll be able to withstand a Black Crusade. We'll probably want a Deus Superdreadnought to be sure we can deal with the Planet Killer.

I think you are being extremely optimistic here. A Black Crusade required resources from the entirety of the Old Imperium to repel, after all, the thirteenth made the Imperium to pull back the Damocles crusade against the Tau, which was on the other side of the galaxy. No matter what superships we have, we will be drowned in the enemies numbers unless we get a heck of a lot more sectors than we currently have. 50 might be a decent ballpark or so. And have all our planets plastered in banishment runes to prevent them bypassing our fleet entirely by just swamping us in demons.

If we actually gain Abaddons attention before that I'll probably recommend having our psykers try to telepathically contact Avernus planetmind and offer it our eternal servitude in return for our salvation. That would probably be the best shot we have.

Yesssssss,I've seen people do it with escorts too.

On the other hand I'm pretty sure @Durin will balance it/it's been upgraded a lot, so a Deus might be advised.
It's kind of funny to field one Light Cruiser in BFG:A and have the rest of your force being tiny little frigates, and you're on the final mission.

(also I rammed the Planet Killer to death with them but DETAILS)

How far in the future. Because it sounds like something that can wait.
Divining the Destroyer, Orks and Chaos seems more urgent. The first we might be able to tell Ultramar about when we get around to making use of our new Eldar contacts, and the others might give us valuable insights in the short term, or for finding out what we should divine next.

If Tamia ever manages to reach Paragon Telepath, we might be able to use Ridcully and her to contact the Avernus planetmind directly for diplomatic purposes. Maybe add worship of Avernus to our religion in exchange for protection from invasion? (IIRC planet worship is kosher in the New Imperial Truth.)

Oh no it can wait, just saying when we can do it we should.

Like so many other things.

@Durin do the Chaos Undivided worshippers worship the Abomination too?
Well it wouldn't be undevided if they didn't???

Worship of animals isn't, but that might just be cause spiders.

Considering that Chaos seems really keen on destroying every founding chapter, I'm kind of worried about what would happen if we properly ressurected the Grey Knights...
