Considering we have 6 billion people living on a patch of Avernus the size of India, it is theoretically possible that we might be able to get Avernus up to hive world levels of population (100 billion+). How nuts would that be?

@durin: Do you keep the information sheets for Avernus and the other Trust worlds saved? I was just curious how much the various Trust worlds have grown in the time since Avernus started talking to its neighbours...

He updates their states and production regularly though the descriptions don't change often Embers in the Dusk: A Planetary Governor Quest (43k) | Page 68

But they produce no psykers.

Zero.

Not a single one is ever born there.

To be fair, that was a verbal claim made by Champion Surt when refusing an Unseen University branch. It wasn't something that was word of god, or even a report from Lord Klovis-Ultan. Surt might have been exaggerating the effectiveness of the gen-mods preventing psykers from being born.

Or maybe we caught him in a contradiction. Surt does seem to have endless secrets, doesn't he?

He means like constantly updated spreadsheets for the Trust Worlds. Which he must, otherwise the other worlds would be run on adhoc fiat.
Those are the constantly updated spread sheets.

No, cause we got a nat 100 we got access to the Inquisition's detailed report on the level of psyker production for the whole trust, Niflhiem, Svatflhiem and Muspelhiem were all zero.

When asked Surt said modifications during the DAoT.

The gene-modding could have happened after those cities were lost.
It could've been done during the Age of Strife, but disguised as done during DAoT to hide the fact that Muspelheim still maintains DAoT tech and mentality.

Right, but I don't see anywhere where past sheets are archived in the thread.

So we can know the most recent information, but not past information.

Transcendent Carp
So everyone is coming up with new fauna and flora for Avernus might as well give my two cents in

Transcendent Carp
On merely casual observation the Carp seems to have no psychic traits or any means to defend itself aside for there quite frankly ridiculous ability to reproduce one pair of carp can produce at least a million eggs in their life time although only 2-3% would reach full maturity. Upon closer inspection the carp has a special gene that allows it to mutate massively when it overcomes what the gene considers a great feat. This happens quite rarely and it is unknown how much stress is needed for the gene to activate but if it does the carp will transform into what many will consider one of the fiercest beasts in all of Avernus.

Storm Dragon
Measure from head to tale at around 30-50 km long and is as big as a titan these hulking beasts just by there very presence cause the the skies to roar and the earth to tremble although they seem to be sexually sterile as there have been no sexual differences it is unknown how they reproduce a storm dragon's main habitat is deep in the ocean and devours all manner of beasts there though they do sometimes come up the surface and take to the skies they can fire a a beam of energy strong enough to shatter a DaoT ship's shield and armor in seconds. There scales can shrug off a full orbital bombardment and they are seemingly intelligent enough to communicate telepathically.

Electric Sheep
These massive sheep are as big as a tank and discharge over a 1000 volts of electricity a second there wool make great insulators and they gather in hers of up to 50 sheep with the males forming a protective ring around the females and children. The wool on these sheep make great insulators and are good protective covering against most energy blasts. The males are slightly smaller than the females but discharge far more electricity they release when in a circle they produce an electric force field that fries anything that tries to sneak by though if even one male is killed this field breaks and herd scatters.

Grand Watusi
These great beasts roam the wilderness of Avernus mostly eating grass though on occasion they will also devour meat if there are none these beats are massive each one as big as a titan and roam in herds of up to 200 large there most prominent feature is the great horns on their heads which can even pierce a dragon turtles shell they also eat surprisingly little for there size making some think that they may have some sort of biomancy ability. There milk is considered extremely nutritious with one glass an equivalent to a day's meal.

Good but edit in some periods and check your spelling on beats I think you meant Beasts.

Cosmo Jelly
Cosmo Jelly

It's a strange creature. The Cosmo Jelly is an airborne invertebrate creature that resembles the jellyfish of other worlds, consisting of a cap and a series of hanging strands. On average, the cap usually ranges from 3 to 4 inches in diameter and the tentacles can reach up to a meter long. It gets its name from the bio-luminescent light emitted by the cap which produces a light ranging from 1800 to 2700 lumens. Cosmo Jellys are filter feeders. The tentacles are usually covered in billions of micro-hairs that allow it to filter out atmospheric microflora and fauna. These micro-hairs are capable of creating extremely small psychic microneedles which allow for any avernite microflora and fauna to be destroyed, rendered into components, and consumed safely. The Cosmo Jelly, though completely non-agressive unlike most of Avernus's wildlife are more than capable of defending themselves by using the psychic microneedles to deliver concentrated doses of psychic toxin that, while non-lethal, will make anybody who experiences it wish it were. The toxin has no currently known cure and lasts for 6 months to a year, delivering mind searing pain and suffering all the while. Most avernite predators will generally prefer not to chew on the Cosmo Jelly. During the daytime, the Cosmo Jelly will generally be found lower to the ground where most of the warmth is located while at night, they rise into the sky so as to avoid any creatures that might want to take the risk rather than take up the more dangerous task of hunting for food at night.
There have been two cases of a person being bitten by a blink spider and stung by a Cosmo Jelly at the same time. Currently they yet live and the common hypothesis is that the Cosmo Jelly toxin can counter blink spider venom, though the toxin appears to last many times longer as the toxin has not subsided even two years after the encounter.

Y'know, I wonder if Avernites who live on other continents would get other bonuses.
I mean, where most of our Avernites reside now mostly requires picture-perfect reflexes and the ability to keep a calm mind at all times, marksmanship isn't necessary where they live as compared to massed fire without panicking because all of the creatures there simply require massive amounts of firepower to take down or require you to keep careful use of your resources (One of those kinetic-energy dispersing buffalo, for example, simply require you not to panic and break while keeping fire on them, while phase tigers require you not to fire wildly and instead keep your sights on the ephemeral shape).
Meanwhile, if the trend of small creatures with devestating firepower continues on this other region, we could start to find the Avernites there have insane shooting skills, but don't have the same cool head, having a slightly higher propensity to break formation.

To be fair, all current Avernites are pretty skilled marksmen by sheer virtue of having to gun down blink spiders. It's still more reflexive shooting than typical marksmen work, but so would shooting a Sun Beetle before it can go nuclear.

Well, yeah, I probably shouldn't have removed the conditional that we're talking relative to Avernites, relative to a normal human any person hailing from Avernus could destroy anybody not near-literally made for war, but blink spiders, at least, need to get into close range before they can kill you, sun beetles, meanwhile, could probably move wildly and only need a few missed shots to go nuclear.
Even considering the theory that they aren't nukes and simply act as a small flying ball of plasma, that's still super hard to hit.

We're already seeing some level of specialization.
-Lindon: better at sneaking and identifying camouflage.
-Spine: better at reflexive shooting (spiders)
-Azure Isles: better at resisting telepathic attacks
etc

That's basically a four legged troll.
o_O Not in the least. The only similarity between them that they don't also share with most other creatures on Avernus is that they make use of rock. Even that is only partial because Trolls use only rock while Pilot Foxes can use pretty much any solid matter.

Do you mean meters rather than kilometres? Because a 500 kilometre dragon is bigger than the largest space hulk the Orks brought. About ten time bigger in fact.

I assumed that Avernus was far bigger than earth but I guess even so 500 km is a bit ridiculous isn't i? I'll lower it to around 100-150 km
