you're right, those guys were waaay out of line as well, adding to the list
  • Daemon - He knows what he did.
  • Johanna - Homophobic Evil Girlboss Stepmother™️
  • Roland Westerling - Father of the Homophobic Evil Girlboss Stepmother™️. tried to push Aegon's claim at a Small Council meeting, unannounced, and expected everyone to just go with it.
  • Tyland Lannister - pushed for Rhaenyra to be set aside as heir multiple times now.
  • Mellos - Also pushed for Rhaenyra to be set aside as heir. Medical treatments not helping Viserys, but refused to try anything else. got Daemon'ed
  • Criston Cole - Mysogynist. Probably also homophobic tbh. was a little bitch about losing in the sworn sword challenge and the tourney.
  • Unwin Peake - homophobic, mysogynist, AND terrible personality, pick a struggle. insulted Alicent once so therefore we are going to take his shit (castles and land)
  • Arnold Aryyn - Oathbreaker, sexist POS. got his ass
if stress gets a little high but we don't have time for poetry, harp, or swording, just take a swing at one of these guys 😆

Rhaenyra, Rhaenyra, It Rhymes With Manslaughtera.

Because always being the bigger person is 1) Stressful, which eats into our actions and can, if mismanaged, backfire significantly worse than this, 2) boring.

Also, we're playing the Civil War Quest as a highly controversial yet competent figure who will inevitably have enemies and need to strike at them. We're not introducing unnecessary strife, just making ourselves want to and take satisfaction in leaving no blows unanswered.
its not about always being the bigger person, its about not being ruled by your emotions. Being able to take advantage of any situation without ending up screwing things over because you have a burning need to hurt someone because they made fun of your dress. As for action economy? Having to repair the issues caused by anger or vindictiveness is going to be much more expensive action wise, assuming doing those things don't take actions of their own and cost even more.

Like this is an awful thing, makes the character closer to a xianxia young master, hurts her ability to become queen, and means when she does become queen she'll be worse at it. Orrrr we could take a few more actions to send time with our romantic interests and play the harp. Both things that work towards one of our goals.

We are currently at 76 Stress. If we hit 100 Stress we get a bad trait. Not a complicated trait, not an understandable trait, a BAD trait. We don't actually have much room to maneuver here because even the Stress-busting actions mostly bust single-digit amounts of stress.

Right, so take more of them, to reduce stress levels. that's a perfectly reasonable and valid strategy that doesn't mean we're liable to raise our hand to Alicent if we disagree on something, or she says something that could be construed negatively about us.

edit: not saying its likely Rhaenyra would actually land the blow, but wrathful means she'd likely start it before holding herself back.
Vindictive on the other hand means she's going to remember every time Alicent disagrees with her, or says something questionable or the like, and nurse that grudge until it causes an issue. Neither of these things are positive traits.

Seriously? No, that's fucking stupid.
How is that stupid? Wrathful, as in gets super angry about stuff and wants to do something about it. Not saying she'd actually land the blow since it says she can control herself, but she has to go out of her way to control herself. So the raising of the hand to start the blow seems entirely viable as a possibility. People in relationships get into arguments usually not violent ones, but certainly passionate ones happen. But with someone who is wrathful? Violence gets a lot closer.

"We should be a bigger person."

i don't want to be the bigger person. I want revenge.
I totally get that. If that's how you want things to go, and you are cool with the negative effects of such a worldview on the character, great I'm glad you are getting the option to vote for it. I'd just like to posit that doing all the revenge stuff to people will likely be more satisfying after we become queen and being like that beforehand has a high chance to make it harder to become queen, and have positive interpersonal relationships. Certainly not impossible, just harder. So maybe now isn't the best time to vote to get that revenge. It is a dish best served cold after all.

I'm pretty game for burning off some stress- with that being said, the next time we're on Dragonstone, we should consider checking in with Bar Emmon regarding Crownlands politics

[X] [Aftermath] The Desire to Strike Back At Your Enemies (Gain Trait: Vindictive)
Yeah. Figures. Oh well.

Vindictive isn't actually a bad trait to have as a feudal high monarch. More mixed. This is quite alright, and it does simplify options significantly.

As for the plans... Shopping seems best to me, since we can shop here openly and buy stuff for Alicent and Qoren that we otherwise couldn't. Like, say, tight mannish riding leathers, of the kind she might some day need to ride Syrax with us. Towards that goal, I've picked up riding with Alicent as well.

The second convo is with the Sea Snake to warn him of what we saw during the feast, Demon moving on his daughter, and share our suspicions of what he did to the Masters. Does he really want that kind of man as his good-son?

Next is leadership. It's important for the war to come, and this is among the better places to seek a personally loyal teacher/advisor/trainer in such. Doing so while in talks with our Knightly teacher is just good sense.

Forget the Velarion kids, the Father is who we speak to first. And if it leads to us burning some pirates as stress relief, well that's just neat.

As for Law, I'd prefer to Study Dornish Law while in Dorne.

As for plans... freedom is for using. The rest is getting ready for war, rule, or dealing with Stress and romance:

[X] Plan: Focused Warrior Queen
-[X] [Conversation] Speak with Alicent Hightower (Mandatory)
--[X] Go Shopping Together in the Markets of Driftmark
--[X] Ride Horses across the Island
---[] As part of a plan to get her used to proper, active riding. Since your Lady will be joining her Dragon Knight upon her steed, one day. (Write in-waiting on approval)
-[X] [Conversation] Speak with Lord Corlys Velaryon
-[X] [Action] Train with Syrax
-[X] [Action] Figure Out How to Improve your Knowledge of Warcraft
-[X] [Action] Investigate the Death of King Aenys
-[X] [Action] Harp Practice
--[X] Play for the People of Spicetown.
---[] Openly play love songs, without naming any names. Let them think they are for Qoren or Alicent as they will. You know who you are playing for. (Write In-Not approved)
-[X] [No Cost Action] Design Personal Heraldry

While the overwork isn't great, it's not terrible either, with one of the actions being Harp practice, and another being flying in perfect conditions(which, while not blue, shouldn't be terribly stressful). And it all feeds into the "if you could ride Syrax with me, we could visit Driftmark, or any other nearby market whenever we wanted and had a day to spare, dear Lady.

@Teen Spirit : Two write in checks for Alicent-riding and Harp-playing, and a question: doesn't Syrax already know her? Or is this more in a "this is my paramor, who I might want to bring with me." kind of introduction? Rhea Royce didn't need special stuff for a ride to Winterfell, and Alicent should be much better known to Syrax by now.

...Wait a minute. Is this option the stealth "invite Alicent flying with your" option?

---
More seriously, having the Heir and Princess openly playing male and female love songs on a Velaryon Island will tell Laenor how she feels about that stuff better than any direct words on her part. Combined with "shopping with Alicent", the idea is that she'd be along to listen as well, as and when able.

I'll X(if approved) or delete the write-ins as appropriate.

Well... its official. We're Dornish now. In bed with two lovers, one of each gender, writing poetry while poisoning half the wine on the continent. People are going to look at our betrothal and then marriage and then say "Well, damn, that rubbed off on her fast". They would expect us to bleed citrus if cut.

In other news, I feel that I understand Daemon more and more with every passing turn.

Vindictive is how we've all been playing this quest anyway, and the factions of the inevitable civil war are taking shape, so the relative downsides seem pretty minimal.

Good vibes because holding court is important and this befriends Velaryon while covering all the Alicdnt stuff and maybe helping with Qoren coming up too.

I agree that we should come back here more often though. Bar Emmon will definitely be someone good to talk to when we actually have the time/AP to do it. Not on this trip, of course, but I'm also wondering long term if Alicent would appreciate a pseudo marriage ceremony in the Dragonstone sept. Seems like it'd be easy to get away with based on the description, and right up her alley eventually, though it would be way too much right now.

Y'all, feeling ashamed for getting back at those trying to ruin our life, destroy our relationship out of bigotry and spite, and *accuse us of trying to molest her children, our half-siblings*, is spineless behavior. As if we can afford to...what? Perhaps be extra ashamed of ourselves for dating to defend ourselves? God in heaven, we are a dragon.

This one is a pretty solid choice, it basically grew out of things we already have been choosing to do

[X] Plan: Good Vibes and Politics
-[X] [Conversation] Speak with Alicent Hightower (Mandatory)
--[X] Go Shopping Together in the Markets of Driftmark
--[X] Play Your Harp for Her Privately
-[X] [Conversation] Speak with Lady Laena Velaryon
-[X] [Conversation] Speak with Lord Corlys Velaryon
-[X] [Action] Hold Court
-[X] [Action] Work on Your Poetry
-[X] [Action] Decide What to Do With Your Tourney Winnings

Shocked we didnt already have Vindictive

I think is more abaout begin ashamed of having gotten angry and let that anger overcome logic and reason.

Also, manhandling Johanna, wich is not behavior worthy of a knight.

Incredible shame that nobody wants to write up a plan including this considering where we are, but I get it. Missed opportunity from not properly managing stress to this point and maybe a lesson for the future in that regard
We can take another Dragonstone turn some day. I hope we do. Viserys is reasonably likely to live for at least ten years (I certainly hope so), so we've got plenty of time.

Probably not. Westeros is vaguely European-Medieval and the very idea of cartesian coordinates...
[looks at your avatar]

Well, you'd be the expert. :)

Also, I'm not sure there even are Westerosi *mathematicians* specifically considering the Citadel puts so much emphasis in multidisciplinarity.
I think it's fair to call a multidisciplinary person who happens to be a genius mathematician by the standards of his age "a mathematician" even if he also does other things. We can call Archimedes both "an inventor" and "a mathematician;" both are true.

Why are people voting to make our MC a significantly worse potential queen?
Because the options are "much worse queen, almost certainly," "potentially worse queen, but also a queen who is good at putting down her enemies, which is not unambiguously a negative trait," and "even more stress gain, possibly enough to send Rhaenyra into a spiral before she even gets a chance to relax on Dragonstone."

"Vindictive" isn't a virtue, but it's a vice that has some positive aspects, sort of like how "Diligent" is a virtue that has some negative aspects with how it makes us compulsively keep doing things or start to fray at the edges psychologically.
