As an aside, I like the symmetry of having a Mandatory Alicent Conversation turn immediately followed by a (I assume) Mandatory Qoren Conversation turn. Perfectly balanced. Except for where we're at the "love confession" stage with Alicent and only barely beginning to know Qoren, but that comes with the vast difference in time spent together x)
I strongly suspect that Qoren's going to be putting in a good faith effort to sweep Rhaenyra off her feet (metaphorically if not literally, dunno if he's got the upper body strength to catch her if she swoons :D ). Man knows when he's got to make up for lost time, I'll give him that.

Never said otherwise. The Dornish capital name is Sunspear.
Yeah, I couldn't remember if it was Sunstone or Sunspear. Sunspear feels a little too on-the-nose, but hey, fantasy writers, go figure. :p

With how generous the Stress gain is compared to the loss, it's inevitable that we'll break the Stress bar at some point, and this is a turn to lose Stress anyway. So I'd rather not get Traits that will only generate even more Stress when we have to hold our tongues in the years to come.
I think Vindictive isn't going to be so bad on that point, in that it gives us room to be controlled and courteous in the moment and to strike at enemies in a cold-blooded manner after the fact. It's not ideal but it's something.

Besides that, a protagonist who insults innocent children like this is not someone I can sympathize with.
I understand. At the same time, Rhaenyra is in a really difficult situation regarding Johanna and her children. While Johanna's extreme paranoia and plays-for-keeps mentality is doing a lot to make the idea of future conflict/threat between Rhaenyra and her half-siblings prevalent and even inevitable... she's not wrong that Aegon in particular is a threat to Rhaenyra just by existing.

Rhaenyra herself wasn't immune to getting bounced around like a pinball due to politics and adult conflicts that weren't even about her when she was growing up, and her half-siblings won't be, either.

@Teen Spirit , would Vindictive proc on Corlys, or has he not really done enough to piss her off lately for that to be a problem?
Has Corlys even done anything to us? Trying to marry Laena to Viserys was creepy but it wasn't really aimed at Rhaenyra except in a hypothetical sense where it would leave Rhaenyra theoretically vulnerable to any male heirs of that union.

I just had a thought:

"You've been planning for this since even before Aegon was born!" you spat.

"In the event I gave birth to a boy, I thought it best you were in the city," Johanna explained calmly. "That way we could avoid a repeat of what happened with your uncle last time."

Imagine if she hadn't asked. Imagine if the Westerlings had tried their gambit with only Viserys (and the Small Council) in the room, when Rhaenyra was in Dragonstone. Viserys would have just said no... and he might not even have told us. He might think telling them 'no' and giving them a strongly worded speech would be enough for them to stop, and that'd be the end of it, no reason to get his daughter mad at his wife. I'm sure Lyonel or Otto would have sent us a letter, but that's not as big a wake up sign for us as this. Maybe Johanna would have even tried to put the blame for the plot on his father, or even on the Lannisters.

But no. She thought she had some kind of 5th dimensional master plan, and ended up absolutely failing (Viserys not only didn't name Aegon heir, he even got angry at them) and warning us in the worst (for her) possible way. Congratulations, you played yourself.

But Helaena will probably have beef. Lots of beef. Maybe not as much as Rhaenyra unless she takes after her elder half-sister in diligence and martial interests in addition to being a giant, :V
With Johanna being our sworn rival, Johanna wish to isolate her children from Rhaenyra, and Vindictive Rhaenyra in big winning lead; Training Helaena behind Johanna back will be one very relaxing action.

Nyra's Book of Grudges New
Mellos, for being the first to suggest the "set Rhaenyra aside and let her be Princess Consort of Dorne" plan (he's dead now). Harold Westerling and Tyland Lannister, for picking up the thread.
you're right, those guys were waaay out of line as well, adding to the list
  • Daemon - He knows what he did.
  • Johanna - Homophobic Evil Girlboss Stepmother™️
  • Roland Westerling - Father of the Homophobic Evil Girlboss Stepmother™️. tried to push Aegon's claim at a Small Council meeting, unannounced, and expected everyone to just go with it.
  • Tyland Lannister - pushed for Rhaenyra to be set aside as heir multiple times now.
  • Mellos - Also pushed for Rhaenyra to be set aside as heir. Medical treatments not helping Viserys, but refused to try anything else. got Daemon'ed
  • Criston Cole - Mysogynist. Probably also homophobic tbh. was a little bitch about losing in the sworn sword challenge and the tourney.
  • Unwin Peake - homophobic, mysogynist, AND terrible personality, pick a struggle. insulted Alicent once so therefore we are going to take his shit (castles and land)
  • Arnold Aryyn - Oathbreaker, sexist POS. got his ass
if stress gets a little high but we don't have time for poetry, harp, or swording, just take a swing at one of these guys 😆

[X] [Aftermath] The Desire to Strike Back At Your Enemies (Gain Trait: Vindictive)

Now all we need to do is figure out how to get one of these babies locked in as an enemy and we can reduce stress by bullying small children. Can't fathom anybody thinking this is supposed to be a negative trait. Get ready for some pranks twerps.

[X] Plan: Good Vibes and Politics

[] [Action] Investigate the Death of King Aenys
Most Maesters and other writers agree that Queen Visenya had poisoned her nephew, King Aenys, to allow her own son to take the throne. But you have already seen how much those same authors were willing to ignore Visenya's contributions and slander her already. Perhaps this is simply another case of slander. If you could prove that, it could improve Queen Visenya's reputation considerably and make a stronger argument for your own eventual rule. On Dragonstone you have access to records of Aenys' reign, perhaps you might find some from his last weeks and days detailing what happened to him.
Incredible shame that nobody wants to write up a plan including this considering where we are, but I get it. Missed opportunity from not properly managing stress to this point and maybe a lesson for the future in that regard

Do Westerosi mathematicians have a concept of dimensions beyond three?

Probably not. Westeros is vaguely European-Medieval and the very idea of cartesian coordinates even for 2 dimensions didn't appear until well into the 1600s in our world. The idea of higher-than-3 dimensional spaces didn't really exist until the... 19th century, I think? So unles Westerosi mathematics is a lot more advanced than everything else, almost certainly not.

Also, I'm not sure there even are Westerosi *mathematicians* specifically considering the Citadel puts so much emphasis in multidisciplinarity.

I mean, the current most popular plan includes:
Alicent romance stuff (because we promised her a vacay on Dragonstone)
Velaryon management stuff because their place is nearby (for the whole Civil War Prep main plot)
Dragonstone-specific Action, just a different one than this
Qoren relationship action that also synergizes with Alicent

Surprisingly little direct Stress management, actually. We just have too many things to do at this time. Probably a sign we should take an occasional turn visiting the island in the future!

[X] [Aftermath] The Rigtheous Anger Boiling Within (Gain Trait: Wrath)

I don't like Vindictive.
Could we make good with Corlys, if we had been vindictive back when he rejected our plan and effectively forced our dad into the next best marriage?
Better a short burst of anger than to take someone who fucked us over once as an enemy forever.

we WILL be speaking to him when we get back, sounds like a great person to get the lay of the land from (i feel kinda bad asking the Westerling Kingsguard guy, you just know he's sweating 😭)

Yeah we should speak with him to have a good look about allies in the Crownlands.

Yeah i do think that once we have been able to end the damn tour of the Realm and have a good idea of who is our ally and who will oppose us, we could work on that because it will probably be an additional source of legitimacy.

Yeah from now on i think that we will have a better handle on Stress management. We should try to keep it in the 40-60 range.

Why are people voting to make our MC a significantly worse potential queen?

[X] [Aftermath] Feel Ashamed By Both and Try to Do Better
Because always being the bigger person is 1) Stressful, which eats into our actions and can, if mismanaged, backfire significantly worse than this, 2) boring.

Also, we're playing the Civil War Quest as a highly controversial yet competent figure who will inevitably have enemies and need to strike at them. We're not introducing unnecessary strife, just making ourselves want to and take satisfaction in leaving no blows unanswered.

I hope we can keep a good relationship with Lord Commander Westerling. Johanna and her father are on our shit list, but the lord commander was always a bro.

I just hope that Daemon doesn't go Daemon' time anytime soon.

P.S. as far as I'm concerned, Helaena did nothing wrong.

oh sweet, got threadmarked in the informational, thanks 😊

i do love the character progression on this, and i think it adds to Rhaenyra's future reputation in a really cool way. it might end up looking like:
a beautiful warrior queen that appreciates art and beauty (harp & singing, poetry, likes reading, enjoyed Qoren's paintings), who is protective of and generous to her allies & underlings (Rhea's divorce, the Aryyn succession crisis, Hightower favor at court, and saving smallfolk) but is also cruel and spiteful towards her enemies (just Arnold so far, but Mellos is also an example of this from Orwyle's perspective.)
