the current write in "If you were a man" leading vote labels itself defiant but to be frank everything past that is a longer winded version of prove them wrong. bit of a mixed message I'm not quite up for.

It is great to hear that Alicent is still thinking of us! Also good to hear Otto does not completely disregard us. In that sense, Daemon being a gremlin is useful, since it will probably keep us looking like the reasonable choice. So we should make sure his extravagances keep being seen by the power brokers. Let him upset the Westerosis.

Glad to hear dad is opening up to us, he's probably also happy we opened a book for once!

I am leaning towards partially agreeing that Daemon is an issue, but upholding the idea that he wont move against our father. Let's let the nobles come to their own conclusion.

As for the nobles, id like to be defiant, but dad probably has a lot of insight into them, so if he says they'll come around...

Sending Daemon back to Runestone pretty handily stunts his plotting potential given how disliked he is in the Vale. The longer he's away from Kings Landing the more we can do to remove what's left of his influence in the city.

You cannot truly imagine it, even as you increasingly cannot decide which of Daemon's audacity, his cruelty, or his fierce passion for his family rules over him, and see the potential dangers to the crown, if not the king.

Giving Daemon an Army feels, like i might end poorly but also making the Stepstones war something Viserys is seen doing instead of Daemons rouge adventure would be good. I'd also like to get Rhaenyra in on it, two dragons and Visenya 2 electric boogaloo might make stepstones less grueling, connecting with the Velaryons would also be good, this is the apex of their power in canon and we really cannot afford to put Corlys at a distance. I also just like Corlys and Rhaenys as characters.

This comes with its own problems, but I do feel that it is the best way forward at the moment.

Giving my two cents, I personally I don't like much the Defiant write in that is currently leading, because I feel that it isn't the choice the most aligns with our goals, namely ascending to the throne. Our goal is to inherit our father and sit the Iron Throne, but the write in mentions that the opinion of the lords will not matter, as the singers will remember us even after those lords had been forgotten.

However if we're to be queen I do feel that the lords have more relevance to our ability to have a smooth succession then the singers. If we wish to be queen, why do we care so much more about what singers think rather then what our bannermen think? It comes across as a vote that puts our personal aggrandizement above making sure we can effectively administer our bannermen, as opposed to a vote that we will strive to earn those bannermens' respect as part of us already starting our efforts to be a more effective queen and to ensure a smooth succession. Robert probably had a bunch of songs written on him for his battles in the rebelion. He once talked about abandoning the Iron Throne and working as a mercenary due to the songs that'll be written about him as "The Sell Sword King":

The qualities that make for good songs, however, are not necessarily ones that make for a good king, or queen as the case may be, even if they might lead to a self important one.

Yeah, I know Daemon here is wary of Rhaenyra, but seeing his insane respect to what he sees as Targaryen/Valyrian supremacy, I say we pretty much conform to those ideals in his eyes. He might decide in the future to try and court her anyway. But that's just my impression of the Rogue Prince.

Eeeeeeehhhhhhhhhhh unless there are drastic changes from cannon, I'd say Viserys' "oh they'll come around" radar is heavily skewed.

I'd say Robert's biggest issue was a lack of personal motivation to do like any ruling at all. He had amazing legitimacy in the eyes of his peers and the commons; for all his flaws he was stabilizing enough that all the shit hit the fan only once he died. Rhaenyra flaw imo is her lack of legitimacy doing things that are "worthy of song" is honestly one of the best ways to gain that. She needs the PR. And unless the votes go very weird, I don't see her loosing motivation to rule.

In general I think the write-in engenders an attitude and provides future actions slightly more concrete than just "prove yourself worthy." Like I see you mentioning wanting to focus on "effectively administering our bannermen." Given everything I honestly think becoming a Cool Dude despite our icky girl genes is a much more likely way than even the most impressive technocratic stuff. Westeros is a highly militarized and feudal setting. Bannerman management is heavily interpersonal relations, oftentimes I'd say even over grand strategic economic or political concerns. The "would rather have a pint with," factor is very much in play.

Of course people make politically charged fosterings, marriages, etc but at a certain level any interpersonal relationship between any given members of nobility has some political benefits. So the specific ones that get made really depend on who likes who. Like Tywin/Arys/Steffon and Jon Arryn fostering Rob and Ned were political in nature, but the root tending to be very personal in nature "oh that's my war buddy lets give each other kids."

tldr; Fuedal politics is pretty much high school drama writ large so becoming the theatre kid with good PR is actually kinda viable. No one respects the NEERRRRDDSS even if they're the ones keeping the lights on
