The Galaxy is Flood, Not Food

@Jackson Fox

Now that tide has turned around 30 billion people on altered

How does this affect the population of psykers and blanks and how they interact with tide?

There is around 1 really low level psyker (more like subconciously using the warp in a minor scale) per thousand-ish

There is around 1 psyker of middling power per million baselines,at 30 billion people (think able to burst through brick walls,do minor telekinesis, may have some very crude and innacurate mind reading etc)

Psykers like delta, gamma, beta, alpha etc (the kind that busts buildings aside up to small cities/towns,along all kinds of haxes)
Are around the 1 in a billion

Blanks of different levels are also at the 1 per billion mark

So breaking down this numbers, tide shoul have in his repertoire:

>30 million minor subconcious users of the warp (intuition, sixth senses, lucky, natural talent to certain tasks etc, basically minor buffs)

>30k middling power psykers

>20-30 major power psykers

>20-30 blanks wich would be mostly warp resistant with only 1 to 3 being the "untouchable" kind

We know tide doesnt really like to poke or change its altered souls,so i will work with the asumption they still able to do their psykers and blank stuff as tide hasnt tried touching warp manipulation

We will see tide trying to give all this psykers the education towards how to avoid catching demons attentions using the info he gained from purilla mind?

Will tide try to weaponize all the low level blanks and srong blanks to fight off the tzeench cultists?

Will tide try and use the demon warp stuff and shove on a flood test dummy to see if he can replicate low level blankness?

Will tide begin to save blanks babies lifes and raise them up along the flood? (Because otherwise they wpuld be neglected or killed)

At the moment, Tide isn't really actively looking for Psykers or Blanks, nor does he have any plans for their utilization in the future. Most psykers aren't actively using their powers, with those that do rarely surviving for long or learning to hide them. Blanks are even less likely to reach adulthood than 'witches' are. Tide also isn't able to measure a person's inherent psychic potential for the moment, nor would he be able to tell if someone was a blank or just really despised for another reason. He's likely infected plenty of psykers and a few blanks by this point without even being aware of it.

And, as you mentioned, Tide's very distrusting of the Warp since he lacks a clear understanding of how it works. He has big, general concepts like Chaos, but when it comes to smaller mechanics his information is limited. The experiences he's gained are only from Purilla, whose viewpoint he can't really trust due to it being heavily influenced by the Imperial way of thinking.

If/when he learns to detect psychic power in his Altered, or gains enough biomass that he can spare the mental power to look through each of their memories in more detail and determine which ones are those with 'oddness' around them, he may revisit his current lack of plan.

As for you other questions... heheheheheh

You know the scene that I most wish to see is the reaction of the navigators when they find out about Tide's alternate methods of FTL travel, that doesn't use the Warp and doesn't need a navigator. I mean can you imagine the Imperium finding and using a star road? Those navigators would panic.

To be honest, I think most people who see a giant construct that is able to physically connect two planets and constantly adjust itself to account for the different orbits so that it never appears to actually change its shape would terrify anyone but the Necrons. And it'd probably impress even them.

You make it sound like that other factions never heard of the Webway, like is a Star Road better than a webway?

As for Tide potentially making slipspace drives in the future, yeah I can see every except the Necrons faction in the galaxy being struct green with envy. Especially if Tide can make the Forerunner galaxy range drives

Also does Tide have the means to make halo rings? Thinking that he can use it to target only Tyranids or Orks, or is that impossible? Because I swear I remember somewhere that Halo rings can specifically target individual species.

Necrons look at Star Roads, then look at Webway, then look again at the Star Roads, then again at the Webway.
- How many times do we need to kill them?

Certainly won't work against Tyranids. It's specifically mentioned that their genetics are extremely varied even within the single brood, not even talking about whole fleets. They do it to counter virus attacks. The only reason their creatures look the same is that they use a combination of psychic powers and precise chemical manipulations to guide their growth.

And most likely won't work against Orks. While targeting them should be possible trying to wipe all the Orks in a single move is one of the few instances where Gork and Mork would most likely take personal action. And you really don't want to know what happens when you get attention from two gods that by some metrics are stronger than the Chaos Quartet.

There's a difference between Warp bullshit being done by a race of gods and physical, material objects that basically defy the laws of reality even as far as the race commonly understood to be the Masters of the material universe would understand them.

So, technically I think Tide could create the Halo Rings or an equivalent to them, given proper time, resources, and advanced enough knowledge. However, I don't think he'd ever create a weapon that work on disrupting or destroy Neural Physics like the Halos do. It'd sort of be like having a suit of impenetrable armor and then making a weapon that can shoot through anything, including your previously impenetrable armor. Just best not to risk it.

And most likely won't work against Orks. Gork and Mork would either be so pissed they enter the material plane to personally slap Tide and the Halos out of existence, or so completely uncaring that nothing would happen because Orks have a strong likelihood of populating other galaxies as well as this one.

Well for one Star Roads can be used to physically crush planets, which while not enormously out there compared to Exterminatus and all of the other varied methods by which planets can be rendered uninhabitable - though physically annihilating the planet gets points for the spectacle - is still rad as hell.

Space Mahreen somehow breaks though flood horde, not get infected, tap dances on top of flood bioforms, hold a musical, plant and detonate a virus bomb killing the gravemind, and gets a shitton of books about him

"So this is how the flood felt like dealing with Chief and Arby"
Fuck that, I want to see Cain ruining Tide's day in the process of attempting to escape before the planet's blown up by the Inquisition.

Good to know

Given tide has psykers infected and he tries to not mess with them

This implies thos rogue psykers are likely to suffer the risks of demonic possesion and warp predators

But now that they are linked to tide,it also means there is a considerable they end up on tide realm through luck

Abd with 30k-ish psykers tide should be getting unwanted guest every so often

>pov you are the third demon of the day and tide is welcoming you:

Hey Jackson. Just wanted to say I appreciate how you're able to make this a survival story and a horror story all in one. You paradoxically created the nicest but also pants shitingly terrifying thing in wh40k. Story's with monsters that have hearts of gold are my favorite thing in the world. Thank you.

I'm glad you've enjoyed it so far. While Idk if I'd describe Tide as having a 'heart of gold', he might as well compared to the bulk of 40k's characters. I hope you continue to enjoy what I've got planned!

For Loyalist Primarchs and their fate in 40k:
1. Lion El'Jonson - sleeping under The Rock, HQ of the Dark Angels after his spat with Luther went horribly wrong at Caliban.

2. Roboute Guilliman - under stasis coma at Macragge after he was poisoned by Fulgrim in their fight and became a tourist attraction.

3. Vulkan - disappeared and will only return if all missing Artefacts were recovered by the Salamanders. In TTS, he was at the deepest darkest corner of his room at Nocturne the whole time.

4. Corvus Corax - in canon, currently a shadow being hounding after Lorgar at the Warp. In TTS, he's shoved inside the Engine of Woes there.

5. Rogal Dorn - in canon, he disappeared with only his severed hand being recovered. In TTS, he is the A-Dorn-able Centurion after losing his Magic Pain Glove and disguised himself to keep Big E company.

6. Jaghatai Khan - in canon, he disappeared after going after Dark Eldar raiders who attacked his homeworld of Chogoris. In TTS, he is a lethal racer who kills Dark Eldar at Commorragh.

7. Leman Russ - in canon, he disappeared and promised he will come back for the Wolf Time. In TTS, he is at the Warp where he played guerrilla prank wars on Chaos Realms with Kaldor Draigo.

8. Sanguinius - in canon, he's dead. In TTS, he somewhat appear to the Flesh Eaters who ate Ork corpses that are mushrooms and they hallucinate.

9. Ferrus Manus - in canon, he's dead. In TTS, he appears as a figment of Vulkan's imagination as a skost taunting him for being weeeeaaaaaaakkkk.
A perfect summary... And why I think that TTS is canon.
Because it's pretty damned close to what GW says it was supposed to be.
Too bad GW started going after content creators and TTS is no longer being updated. Oh well- it will live on as my preffered Wh40k timeline.

Dude, compared to almost ANY of the other godlike beings in 40k, or beings that could become godlike, he has a heart of gold.
Many hearts of gold, at this point really.

Afraid Nurgle has seen fit to grant me one of his blessings this week I'm afraid. Came down with a case of E. coli. It's not fun and it's kind of a killer of trying to sit down and write when you feel like a plaguebearer looks, so I'm afraid Friday's chapter is getting pushed back to Monday.

time for revenge against nurgle then...the trashbag needs to learn a lesson of humility it seems.

Happy New Years everyone! While I'm feeling a lot better, I don't believe I have enough time to finish the next chapter, so there will be another, smaller delay. While I'd hoped to get it out new year's day, I'm afraid it will have to be the second.
