The Galaxy is Flood, Not Food

… huh. Sure wasn't expecting there to be a portal to hel in tides own mind. Honestly when the major powers really start noticing tide they will be shutting bricks. I can imagine it now. The players notice a wound in the universe… not particularly notable just another wound in the materium. That's the problem though. It's a wound in the warp. And there is something festering in the wound. I imagine that tides debut may be something similar to the tyranids first debut. At least I imagine the reactions will be similar.

The disappearance of his pet daemon would almost certainly cause some kind of reaction, but Tide had not gained the same perspective of Ahsael from Vra'kzil as he had of Ellen from Purilla.
Vra'kzil's method had clearly not worked out, so perhaps a more material approach would be more useful.

With a thought, he summoned one of the cultists he had promised to Vra'kzil. Since the daemon was not around, the man was still of some use.

"Send a message to Uirus in Janus and the agents in Eris and Ate. Tell them it is time the Imperium learned this world does not belong to their Corpse-Emperor."
Some kind of reaction indeed. Looks like it will be a multi-sided war, as most of the interesting planets in Warhammer 40k become.

A festering wound in the Warp, innocuous in all the howling horror but growing with every corpse added.

A place where immortals die, where visiting mortals linger for a time before their own end.

A Grave, one might say.

I think Halo 3 has the better line.

Now the gates have been unlatched, headstones pushed aside. Corpses shift and offer room, a fate you must abide!

So 8 regiments are going to other hives

We know tide already compromised any regiment staying in the hive

So this means we will see hive strectch its reach towards others hives

The Empyrean, the Realm of Chaos, could not be wounded. That could not be possible. Yet, here was an invisible, unnoticeable gash, a tear ripped open by something not of this or any other universe connected to the Great Ocean. An impossible thing, the same as the entity that dwelled within.

Vra'kzil knew much. It had knowledge that could make the mightiest sorcerers go mad, secrets that would alight the minds of any mortal that learned them. Yet it did not know what this thing was, what this monster was. It did not even know if the Great Architect knew of this… entity, for surely even Tzeentch would recognize the dire threat it posed to all reality.

And that thought that there existed something outside the knowledge and plan of the Weaver of Destinies, was more terrifying than even being locked in a single form.
Had something happened to it? It was a ludicrous thought, one banished from Ahsael's mind almost as soon as it arose. Even the weakest of daemonic entities were impossible to truly destroy. Banish, perhaps, but the daemon's link to Ahsael's soul should have made returning to the Materium a small effort.

At the inherent cosmic horror of destroying the indestructible, I quote everyone's favorite meta-stable rampant AI from one of Bungie's earlier works:
Things have gone terribly awry. Until now, I thought myself immortal, but now I know that is not true. There are things that can destroy me with the ease that I slaughtered the Pfhor naval garrison and the Western Arm of their Battle Group Seven. But in their final gasp they used a weapon that I thought they had retired, even Tycho tried to keep them from using it.

Now I fear what that weapon has unleashed will destroy us. I once boasted to be able to count the atoms in a cloud, to understand them all, predict them, and so did I predict you, but this new chaos is entirely terrible, mindless, obeying rules that I don't comprehend. And it is hungry.

Tide's infected the local PDF, not the Guard - if there was a regiment of Imperial Guard in Malum it probably would have been mentioned by now, and the Inquisitor is (at least for the moment) keeping Malum quarantined. No Guard should be going to Malum, and things would have to get much more dire before the PDF gets sent anywhere outside their home cities.

He got some of the guardsmen protecting the techpriests when the genestealers attacked.

Day 12

Twelve Enginseers and three low-ranking Genetors, along with nearly twenty guardsmen, were his prize.
However I'm pretty sure they were getting regular check ups so those guardsmen are likely not going anywhere.

Oh, right, the survey teams. Those guys are dead and have been recycled into raw biomass, they're not Altered.
Other way around. None of the teams got recycled, though some are altered. Some of them have to have survived getting shot, and that provides an easy explanation as to why they are infected that doesn't draw attention. Obviously the guy who's face mask got blown off in an explosion got exposed, that doesn't mean anything. Obviously the techpriest who now needs a new arm got infected, there is a hole directly from exposed blood to spore-filled air.
Similarly you know what would draw attention? Missing techpriest corpses, they recycle cybernetics all the time and it would be very weird for a genestealer cult to start stealing random mechanicus bodies.

In mechanicus (the game) the recycling of cybernetics is shown to be so central that the correct response to finding corpses in a gradually awaking tombworld is to stop only long enough to rip their metal parts out. Anything else gives a penalty, whereas your troops are happy to know their cypernetics will not be wasted if they die in battle.

Space Mahreen somehow breaks though flood horde, not get infected, tap dances on top of flood bioforms, hold a musical, plant and detonate a virus bomb killing the gravemind, and gets a shitton of books about him

"So this is how the flood felt like dealing with Chief and Arby"

I kinda wanna see a April fools chapter with just this, The Great Cato Sicarius finds tide and proceeds to doom guy his way through only to realize it was a dream tide had.

That or a curbstomp false hope scenario where the marines are winning only to go in deeper and deeper and slowly they just dissappear one by one and slowly dead space happens in the hive city.

Hey, at least Tide didn't drop in during DAoT when humanity and eldar were actually in decent shape. That would have been much more dangerous. Just getting noticed by one of the overseer AIs or eldar constructs would have been more than enough to start the Benny Hill theme.

They did infect the guard
In the fight against the genesteealer assault, the teams got attacked

And while some died, many other got wounded

Open wounds on a enviroment filled with spores of all sorts

Of a hundredish to a thousandish guardsmens spread out in the teams they surely must been some infected amongst them

That said, he wasn't unwilling to take advantage of a bad situation. While he couldn't take most of those slain, particularly those dead cultists that were already being burned in massive piles by the remaining Imperial Guard and Admech agents in the city, he wasn't going to let the dead Tech-Priests and Guardsmen slip through his tentacles.

Twelve Enginseers and three low-ranking Genetors, along with nearly twenty guardsmen

And at this stage everyone on the malum hive is infected

The guardsmen gotta eat somewhere, sleep somewhere, use clothes made by someone etc

Anyone that sets foot on malum and isnt on a hazmat suit has to be asummed compromised

And with the tzeench cultists carrying a altered around,is a matter of time before the rest of their hive also

The inquusitor is gonna realize this soon as reports of spores in other hives begin to reach its ears

Btw do you know that this exits ? Of course they won't be good enough to 1vs1, but they're gonna be their equals in terms of training and combat skills, and close enough that in large group combat they're not miles apart
Not to mention they are more 'mass produce' than Astarte's, and can do for both male and female. Which is really bizarre cuz they don't appear anywhere ever again. Even on chaos side. They just poof (this is from a comment discussion I found)

P/s: Bad new, another Retcon that sucks (and I hear the new writer are basically chaos bias)

tldr the 4 tumours including slaneesh existing a billion years ago and were fought by The Necrontyr, the old ones and the Eldar
it is not only stupid
it makes no fucking sense
its not even using the going back in time crap
its outright changing shit

But this "retcon" is A: not even up to date, its like 5-6 years old. B: Was only published in one book. C: Have been overwritten again by the standard lore in every book since, including the codexes since 8'th ed.

ah just ignore it like that one book that has a Chaos Marine killing his way thru the imperial Palace and killing multiple custodians

That seems to be like a lot of effort to make a way worse version of astartes when DAoT had perfectly serviceable knock offs of Mobile Infantry from Starship Troopers (the book) and the technology is still here just scattered over different parts of Imperium's tech base. Highly mobile power armored flying trooper that has the firepower to rival a whole astartes company seems like a much better investment from where I'm standing.

Power Armor + Jump Pack + Gravity Plates + Plasma and Melta Weapons + Missile Launcher

It's a lot of engineering work to calibrate and make it come together properly. And will cost much more than an astartes or even terminator equipment but it also would be way more dangerous. You may also want to throw a shield on top.

Thing is unlike Imperium that will need to invest in infrastructure to build and maintain such equipment Tide can just create custom made Flood forms capable of any needed level of precision as long as he managed to get his tentacles on a ready blueprint.
