I think upgrading the FA equipment is better than rebuilding it. The rebuild will happen given enough time, but the standard equipment was a bit lacking. And with a radically reduced FA, it will be better to update the equipment. It will be seen as the Federation doing something to ensure that soldiers on the ground have a better chance of survival.

Hopefully, giving a much-needed morale boost after The Slaughter.

Also, I get the feeling not many will enlist in the next few years with the Army, and they all want to go to the Navy. Thanks to us being a Navy rather than Army guy.

ngl it feels like we're just a punching bag at this point as the only thing we've proactively done is the revolt and even that was a response to and consequence of the Dominion attacking us.

That's really not fair considering that we are just starting out and even then we did choose to follow the navy path and outright choice the threats we would be facing at the start. We also do have influence to what the army does and we even picked to go to war with the Dominion while they were still weak. It's just the daemon incursion happened and as a reminder that happened because we chose to take Warp Rifts for more gains at the start.

We were offered a ton of advantages at the start in exchange for more threats. Can't complain that it makes things hard for us since that was the trade off for more stuff and advantages.

Yup. This was the winning plan.

[X] Plan The Mechanicus Hate Them
-[X] First Line Shipyards.
-[X] Advanced Technology. x3
--[X] Artificial Intelligence.
--[X] Combat Vehicles.
--[X] Cybernetics.
--[X] Genetic Engineering.
--[X] Medical Science.
--[X] Power Armour.
--[X] Terraforming.
--[X] Warp Knowledge.
--[X] Warships.
-[X] Greenskin Neighbours.
-[X] Warp Rift.
-[X] Imperialist Neighbours.

Note that this choice features 3 (the maximum) amount of potentially invading enemies, while picking neither First Line Fleet or First Line Army.
Aka, the players chose to put themselves in a position with the greatest threat of invasion and the smallest amount of defenses.

Frankly, Oshha is being nice. I would argue that having the entire kingdom be overrun by now would be a perfectly sensible result based on this choice.

How do preferences work in practice? Do they offer some form of bonus or is it simply a modifier on the random skill level-up roll?

Also. Is Little Anathema inspired by A Song of Peace or something original? Because I don't feel like retreading ground from another quest.

It gives a modifier, which can be positive or negative, when rolling to see if you can a Level in a Skill and when I look to see what options I am giving you, I look for ones which match Drake's likes and avoid his dislikes if I can reasonably do so.

Probably? I can tell you that my take on the Emperor aka the Anathema is going to be different to how Swordo is portraying him in A Song of Peace, but I'm playing close to my chest until after the Horus Heresy or whatever happens so you can't metagame.

it doesn't feel like becoming an anathema was earned to me to be honest. I feel like that should be a BIG deal and banishing a random greater daemon and a small chaos invasion in not THAT big of a deal even less so when your main character is a primarch and several of them did that on their homeworlds.

He killed 7 bloodthirsters and a demon prince in eight days.
Eight is the sacred number of khorne.

So for clarification Little Anathema = A nature that inherently defies chaos.

Note it says little anathema, not true anathema. Imagine that it may just be a trait that either gives a boost against Daemons or could be upgraded. And even then the feat he pulled off was pretty impressive considering how young we are and how we were not that good a fighter at the start.

In before we are in that one joke timeline where the Emperor was trying to become a chaos god.

Eight is the sacred number of khorne.
He killed eight Bloodthirsters in six days and then a Daemon Prince on the seventh day.
So for clarification Little Anathema = A nature that inherently defies chaos.
Try it and find out.

Nah, the Emperor will be opposed to Chaos. That much won't be changing.

Again that's not impresive by primarch standars even if we are young.

A lot of them did have to deal with way worse on their own homeworlds and did it younger with way less support and worse weapons to not get that kind of reward.

Banish that amount of daemons would be impresive if an astartes did it A greater deadom after some bloodleathers is impresive when astartes and mortals do it not primarchs

If he true kill them instead of banish them then it would be feat worthy of that kind of thing but it's just a normal banishment.
Or
Leting him fight one of khorne higests deamons or exalted and then i would get. Not from random unnamed and uniportant units.

Okay, please go and look at what a Bloodthirster is because right now, you looking really, really ignorant because Bloodthirsters are the highest daemons of Khorne.

Nah I'm not complaining about the difficulty I'm just pointing out that we haven't been able to do anything proactive which is more an annoyance then anything and yes we did choose to go to war with the Dominion but that choice was basically invalidated by the khornate invasion which as I said earlier is a bit annoying but understandable. Though I am hoping the Little Anathema trait could help with dealing with the warp rift permanently, also I do feel like upgrading our army is best rn as our army will rebuild on it's own and we have confederation tech and equipment that our army could be using but isn't cause it didn't start with it like the combat vehicles, power armor, cybernetics, genetic engineering, and maybe AI and warp knowledge.

To be fair, you are using that sort of stuff, it is just sort of second-rate stuff in use right now. For example, all of your soldiers use power armour as standard the same way that Imperial Guardsmen use flak armour as standard.
