Votes that do not follow the template will not be counted!

At this time I am using a counter system, listing the number of days votes take to be put into action. However for write-in votes you don't know how many days an action may take. For this we will use the old system of Major/Minor Decisions, and I will tell you how many days/weeks/months the plan will take. Remember that every month has 28 days, and that there are 13 months in the year with New Years as a special day alone outside the months. There is no leap year, as their calendar is not accurate to that degree.

Major decisions are any new endeavors. Finding new investments. Finding new allies (specify what type, where you're looking if possible, what you want from them, etc) finding new trainers, starting new training even if it is with people you already know... Anything new.

No mixing something that would qualify as a minor decision or free action into your major votes! If you have a question about your votes, ask me.

Talking with specific people about specific subjects. You can generally only talk with one person at a time with this. There are simple logical exceptions, Husband & Wife combos can be put together as one conversation, brother & sister, stuff like that. I'll clarify if a combo is unacceptable when I see the vote. This is also for continuing any long term action. Any major decision that you have already voted to start (not just mused about in-story) can be a minor action the next time around. Continuing training that you have already begun for example. Continuing a long-term investigation or plot. Stuff like this.

Making small talk with characters. You will not learn anything special really, but it gives you more insight into their backgrounds and history, can raise/lower their loyalty or other relationship points with you, etc. Raising/lowering and how much depends on rolls.

These can interrupt any current action(s) and will take precedence over the current plan. A way to change things on the fly as you discover new information or alternate ways to potentially enhance your plan, or change it completely if needed.

Remember for all votes if you take a guard or other individual with you, you will need to write-in which guard/person you take with you (just saying take a guard or ally will leave the decision of which one up to me) and also whether Daenerys tries to use any future knowledge on the decision as well if it is one of hers or she is present. (She still may decide to try and use her future knowledge without your consent if she thinks it necessary.) These details are sub-votes.

[] [Plan] X (Current Month, Short Term, Long Term, Immediate Actions, Purchases, etc.)
-[] Major Decisions: Character name here
--[] Major Decision 1
---[] Sub-conditions of Major Decision 1
---[] Sub-conditions of Major Decision 1
--[] Major Decision 2
---[] Sub-conditions of Major Decision 2
---[] Sub-conditions of Major Decision 2
-[] Minor Decisions: Character name here
--[] Minor Decision 1
---[] Sub-conditions of Minor Decision 1
---[] Sub-conditions of Minor Decision 1
--[] Minor Decision 2
-[] Free Actions: Character name here
--[] Free Action 1
---[] Sub-conditions
--[] Free Action 2
---[] Sub-conditions

You get the jist of this.

However, under the plan vote, you will then put a "Priority" Vote.

[] Aegon Priority: 1. Major Decision 1, 2. Free Action 2, 3. Minor Decision 1, 4. Major Decision 2, etc.
[] Daenerys Priority: 1. Free Action 2, 2. Major Decision 3, 3. Minor Decision 1, etc.

This way we can vote on the general plan, then I can separate the order of events in said plan.

Don't put V1, V2, or any other such revision information into your plan. Just leave it like I have it. Nothing extra. The tally system will update to your newest post. No need to make version markers. It just makes things harder for me.

If an action in a plan is not one for a specific character, more a general idea of what needs to be done, it will still need to go into the priority matrix.

At the end of all your votes, put your reasons explaining your vote choice. As I've said before, a plan with reasons will get more weight than one without. Because reasons matter. I care about reasons more than numbers. I need reasons to help build the characters. Get used to putting reasons into your plans, as eventually reasons will become a requirement rather than a suggestion. This post will change when that occurs.

[] [Plan] X

You may (but are not required to) put additional reasons to agree with that plan beneath your vote if there are reasons for it that the original vote creator didn't put in that you thought of. The more/better the reasoning inside explaining a vote, the greater the chance it will be added into the story.

Votes are typically closed after either 12 or 24 hours unless real life interferes. Ties will be either decided by me, or by whoever is in the forum or the Discord that has not voted already at the time. I will @ whoever is currently in the forum or Discord that I choose to be the tiebreaker.

Plans have specific timelines. Immediate Actions are obviously immediate. Current Month is similarly self-explanatory. Short Term is something that can conceivably be done within 1-3 months, and Long Term is 3-6 months.

Hmm, maybe I wasn't clear enough in the description, which actually makes some sense IC as Thomas is giving you the info third hand, so it'll be cleared up more in this segment. But no, there are only 13 altars, the 14th deity, the one with no name, is carved into the door that leads further into the temple that none of the others were able to open. So 13 altars for the 13 known Gods, one empty for Serwyn-that-was, and a 14th god who has no altar. At least not in this temple, though you IC know that he would have an altar in a normal Valyrian temple.

Also, good catch on the "talking alone would be suspicious" bit, as you'll see when I post the chapter. I'd already started writing the chapter hours ago having forgotten to close the vote and I have a small AN about that in the beginning. I was (still am) going to let you all get away with it this once, but yes. You guys gotta remember to remain IC during these vote sections. Next time I'll let you act suspicious and give away that you realize what the enemy is up to.

It was less about breaking character and more about misunderstanding the situation. I thought we had three days to get to the temple. I wrote the plan assuming there'd be opportunities to slip away subtly. I didn't realize we'd skipped all the way to entering the place itself. My fault and something I'll try not to repeat in the future.

Also @Lunasmeow I sent you something in the conversation Quest Questions. Tell me what you think :).

Also thanks for the pass this time.

No, I got that. It's still supposed to be the 13th. If he already knows the name of 12, it's the 13th that has no name, only a statue.
12 of the statues that he has identified ... have altars before them.
You filled in the blanks for 7 of them, while he previously knew only 5.
That's 12.
However one still remains unknown to him. This 12th has no name, only a statue.
13th.

Tessarion is 13th after the twelve and before Used2B!Serwyn, who is 14th.

Thomas knows 12 of them. Aegon knows Tessarion, therefore knows all 13, plus Serwyn.

The number that Thomas knows has nothing to do with the number of statues or gods. Thomas has 1 statue (in the door) that he doesn't know. You know all 13. All that matters is the description of the room.

Also, I changed it just a touch. Tessarion has an altar here too, like in any temple.

Someone needs to pay more attention... lol. I'm teasing. But yeah, I accepted the "subtly take them aside" bit. So when subtle wasn't possible, I figured you wouldn't. You kind of saved yourself on that one honestly. Otherwise Aegon would have blatantly asked for a moment alone to speak with them.

A Divine Order For This Mortal Coil - Part Ten
Winning Vote

Subtly take Daenerys aside and share your opinion of Thomas. Caution her against sharing anything sensitive with the man and ask her to carefully observe him for suspicious behavior. Take Matalarr aside as well and tell him to stay vigilant. Share your opinion on Thomas and ask him for a recommendation on how to deal with the man.

A Divine Order For This Mortal Coil - Part Ten
Third Week of the Fifth Month 297 AC

Well, this is the first time you've voted for something that just can't happen. You can't subtly take Dany aside when there are only four people present, in a plains area (well, plains up until the cavern) with nowhere private to go. You can step away from the others whisper to her and Matalarr, but that is anything but subtle. So, rather than screw you on your vote, I'll adapt it a bit to the surroundings and what is actually possible. I'd normally just let you talk in private without being subtle, but the whole point here seems to be that you don't want him aware that you've caught onto his antics.

Thomas stays on the outside of the cavern, wishing he could enter but not daring without any Valyrian blood to allow him to avoid the infamous curse of the temple. Matalarr also remains behind, guarding the entrance. You are away from the city, while unlikely it is possible that bandits or something could appear.

The first thing you notice when you enter the cavern is how quiet everything is. The sounds from outside are muted, and inside you only hear the trickle of water. The river you followed to get here has become only a small stream now, and continues inside. As you go deeper in, the area gets slowly larger, and more refined. It goes slowly from rough natural formed cave rock, to uniformly hewn stone, carved from the mountain itself. The process is gradual, rather than going suddenly from rough to smooth, the transition is slow, seeming almost natural. The air is different as well. It is old, without being stale. Like... a cellar or a grave, yet the scent and taste of fire is on your nose and tongue. Subtle, but noticeably there all the same. Just as you get far enough in that the light from outside is no longer going to be useful, you see a sconce on the wall. There are several torches alongside that you can take with you to light further sconces on your way through. Taking one by the hand, you use the flint left nearby and light your way.

Daenerys is quiet beside you as you progress further into the cavern. Oddly so, in a way. Still, you progress in silence. The mood is... tense without being stressful. As if you can feel something building, and speaking would bring it all crashing down. Still, as you watch her it seems as if you are watching someone who is living in a moment of déjà vu. She moves almost as if in a dream, rather than as a person in the real world. Strange, but you will merely watch her for now. If there is magic in this place, you don't want to try and stop it halfway unless it is obviously causing harm. Trying to stop any magic may be worse than simply letting it run its course.

You pass a few small side chambers as you move through the main passage. Small bedrooms a kitchen area and other necessities for the worshipers to use. Apparently they were prepared to live out of this cave for periods of time if needed. 'Good. once the larder here is refilled, should things become drastic we can do the same.'

Finally the chamber opens into a singular wide circular chamber. Arrayed in a circle around the room you see the statues of 12 gods. Balerion, Syrax, Meraxes, Caraxes, Morghul and Shrykos stretch from the right, while Tyraxes, Vermax, Vermithor, Meleys, Vhaegar, and an empty altar sit to the left. In the center of the circle, dominating the room lies Urrax missing his left eye. Beside Urrax is another empty altar for Serwyn, his once brother. Behind the altars of the brother-gods, the statue of Tessarion is carved into a great archway above the door, his head and wings reaching down and into the door itself. Tessarion sits guarding the entry rather than staying behind his altar.

The altars themselves are not made of the native stone like the rest of the chamber. Instead they are carved out of volcanic rock, rock that you assume was carried here from the 14 fires themselves. High Valyrian is carved into each of the altars, naming the gods. All except the empty one on the left, as is fitting for Tessarion, who was once only known as the Nameless One. Tessarion, the god all Dragonlords in Valyria honored, as it was Tessarion the Unknown, god of Secrets who originally gave the Valyrians the secret knowledge of how to tame dragons.

Tessarion is the god of secrets kept, secrets shared, and secrets untold. It was for discovering the secret of his name that he first rewarded the first dragonlord with a secret of his choice, and he chose well. The secret of taming the dragons in the 14 fires led Valyria to great heights. Still everything else about Tessarion is unknown. He appearance, what else he may preside over, even his gender is assumed. All are secrets waiting to be discovered. And only Dragonlords are permitted to know of him.

You have a chance now, you realize as you recall something you were taught about the gods of your people. Each of the Valyrians were allowed to dedicate themselves to one god, those of Dragonlord blood were allowed to choose two. Two gods who would be theirs above all others. Tessarion and Urrax alone would receive none, and only a fool would choose the empty altar of Serwyn. Doing so would leave only Morghul as the 2nd option for one, as even servants of the Night and Winter must die, but it would also alienate the individual from all the other gods.

As you are here, in a temple made by the Valyrians of old, with altars carved from rock that could only be from the sacred fires themselves, you might choose which two gods to dedicate yourself to, and Dany could do so as well.

It should be fairly obvious but.... Debate this topic!!!!! This is a one time choice that affects your futures immensely. OBVIOUSLY! Choose wisely. I will be adding the proper description of Tessarion to the Apocrypha threadmarks section. It was also made by @thepsyborg so it'll be more descriptive and esoteric sounding that Aegon's inner musings here.

Tessarion
Tessarion
God of Secrets
Little is truly known about him besides his name and domain, but a few customs have developed among his worshipers and he has at least not cursed anyone for following so far. He is portrayed as an unusually slender dragon, usually carved of pale soapstone or jade, with golden eyes and tongue- materials soft enough to be reworked if someone manages to discover his appearance in truth. Offerings are made to him on the night of the new moon; said offerings are often a rolled slip of parchment bearing one of the offerer's secrets, written in their own blood, and cast into the flame burning before his shrine. He accepts offerings from those seeking to ensure their secrets are kept, to discover the secrets of another, or the wisdom to know when to reveal a secret of their own for maximum effect.

By me:
Secrets kept - Those that were told, but were kept between specific individuals. Secret cabals would fall under this. Conspiracies, etc. (Real conspiracies of course. Conspiracy theorists may pray to him, but he makes fun of their paranoia, and sends them false visions with rare few truths inbetween. He likes playing and seeing who can tell truth from fiction.)

Secrets shared - Those that were told, but trust was broken and the secret spreads beyond those who are supposed to know. This can be either a single/few individuals who use the secret for blackmail, (spymasters and the like) or if a secret is suddenly told to the world. (Like when Westeros was told of Cersei and Jaime's incestuous children.)

Secrets untold - Those you never tell a soul. The only true secrets are those never shared. This he is a god of most of all I would assume. (Ned Stark about Jon's true heritage.)

A secret untold is only his as long as someone knows it and is keeping it. When the last living being that knows it dies without passing it on or recording it, it ceases to be a kept secret, and becomes just another lost knowledge of the past, entering Shrykos' domain.

Saw it, haven't read it yet but I will today.

For both us and Dany, Tessarion is necessary. We are our own secret, and worshipping the patron of the dragonlords is fitting.

I think that Dany should have Shrykos as one of her patrons. She already has Dragon Dreams, and if she can get the goddess' favor she could provide us with even better counsel.

Egg should definitely get Tessarion for obvious reasons.

Nobody can pick Tessarion, nor Urrax they don't allow it.

If anyone has Tessarion, it is because he chose them. Not the other way around. I stated that "Tessarion and Urrax receive none" right there in the chapter.

I'm gonna spell it out just this once. Look at the apocrypha. See what the gods' different domains are. See what type of blessing you want/need LONG TERM. This is not a choice to be made lightly. I can't express that more. When I say something is important, you really need to pay attention.

For those of you who play d&d, I welcome min/maxers. That is the only smart way to play. That rule presides here too.

Heh, the discord basically decided on those first two. They wanted "Diplomacy" for Dany as your "queen of the people" and "Valyrian Steel" for Aegon as a conqueror and with Meraxes being the god of Kings... and you hoping to be a king forever (immortality as an end quest goal) they picked that matchup. There are others of course. And you'll be able to get another matchup with Viserys later when he returns.

I'm thinking Balerion and Tyraxes for us, Syrax and Meraxes for Dany.

Balerion's blessing seems like it would instrumental in any conquest or Empire Building, and it's probably a statement to align ourselves with the head of the pantheon as the head of the last "pure" blood of Valyria.

Tyraxes seems like a useful choice if we aspire to be a Dragonrider.

Syrax would be useful for Dany in the future as a mother, and Meraxes to help maintain our future kingdom as our queen.
