#StickiedForAReason
Votes that do not follow the template will not be counted!

At this time I am using a counter system, listing the number of days votes take to be put into action. However for write-in votes you don't know how many days an action may take. For this we will use the old system of Major/Minor Decisions, and I will tell you how many days/weeks/months the plan will take. Remember that every month has 28 days, and that there are 13 months in the year with New Years as a special day alone outside the months. There is no leap year, as their calendar is not accurate to that degree.

Major decisions are any new endeavors. Finding new investments. Finding new allies (specify what type, where you're looking if possible, what you want from them, etc) finding new trainers, starting new training even if it is with people you already know... Anything new.

No mixing something that would qualify as a minor decision or free action into your major votes! If you have a question about your votes, ask me.

Talking with specific people about specific subjects. You can generally only talk with one person at a time with this. There are simple logical exceptions, Husband & Wife combos can be put together as one conversation, brother & sister, stuff like that. I'll clarify if a combo is unacceptable when I see the vote. This is also for continuing any long term action. Any major decision that you have already voted to start (not just mused about in-story) can be a minor action the next time around. Continuing training that you have already begun for example. Continuing a long-term investigation or plot. Stuff like this.

Making small talk with characters. You will not learn anything special really, but it gives you more insight into their backgrounds and history, can raise/lower their loyalty or other relationship points with you, etc. Raising/lowering and how much depends on rolls.

These can interrupt any current action(s) and will take precedence over the current plan. A way to change things on the fly as you discover new information or alternate ways to potentially enhance your plan, or change it completely if needed.

Remember for all votes if you take a guard or other individual with you, you will need to write-in which guard/person you take with you (just saying take a guard or ally will leave the decision of which one up to me) and also whether Daenerys tries to use any future knowledge on the decision as well if it is one of hers or she is present. (She still may decide to try and use her future knowledge without your consent if she thinks it necessary.) These details are sub-votes.

[] [Plan] X (Current Month, Short Term, Long Term, Immediate Actions, Purchases, etc.)
-[] Major Decisions: Character name here
--[] Major Decision 1
---[] Sub-conditions of Major Decision 1
---[] Sub-conditions of Major Decision 1
--[] Major Decision 2
---[] Sub-conditions of Major Decision 2
---[] Sub-conditions of Major Decision 2
-[] Minor Decisions: Character name here
--[] Minor Decision 1
---[] Sub-conditions of Minor Decision 1
---[] Sub-conditions of Minor Decision 1
--[] Minor Decision 2
-[] Free Actions: Character name here
--[] Free Action 1
---[] Sub-conditions
--[] Free Action 2
---[] Sub-conditions

You get the jist of this.

However, under the plan vote, you will then put a "Priority" Vote.

[] Aegon Priority: 1. Major Decision 1, 2. Free Action 2, 3. Minor Decision 1, 4. Major Decision 2, etc.
[] Daenerys Priority: 1. Free Action 2, 2. Major Decision 3, 3. Minor Decision 1, etc.

This way we can vote on the general plan, then I can separate the order of events in said plan.

Don't put V1, V2, or any other such revision information into your plan. Just leave it like I have it. Nothing extra. The tally system will update to your newest post. No need to make version markers. It just makes things harder for me.

If an action in a plan is not one for a specific character, more a general idea of what needs to be done, it will still need to go into the priority matrix.

At the end of all your votes, put your reasons explaining your vote choice. As I've said before, a plan with reasons will get more weight than one without. Because reasons matter. I care about reasons more than numbers. I need reasons to help build the characters. Get used to putting reasons into your plans, as eventually reasons will become a requirement rather than a suggestion. This post will change when that occurs.

[] [Plan] X

You may (but are not required to) put additional reasons to agree with that plan beneath your vote if there are reasons for it that the original vote creator didn't put in that you thought of. The more/better the reasoning inside explaining a vote, the greater the chance it will be added into the story.

Votes are typically closed after either 12 or 24 hours unless real life interferes. Ties will be either decided by me, or by whoever is in the forum or the Discord that has not voted already at the time. I will @ whoever is currently in the forum or Discord that I choose to be the tiebreaker.

Plans have specific timelines. Immediate Actions are obviously immediate. Current Month is similarly self-explanatory. Short Term is something that can conceivably be done within 1-3 months, and Long Term is 3-6 months.

So, as this example has shown that leaving the vote open longer does not result in more voters @Tinkerer (It was you who brought that up right?) I will return to generally closing the vote within 12-24 hrs.

That isn't why the story remained unupdated, I had real life shenanigans happening, but still. Just a good way to make a point since it was available no?

Anyway, I have time to write again sooo...

Day 22 of the Tenth Month 297 AC
War on the Horizon
Preparations
The last few days have been... hectic. You got back from visiting the Triarchs to find that Daenerys had somehow managed to get several people invited over for dinner. You had no idea who they were, but their faces were vaguely familiar. Perhaps they were at the wedding?

That was in addition to everything else that went on only two days later. Two days later, when the news of the sacking of Braavos became common knowledge. A ship full of refugees arrived, filled to the brims with those who were doomed to be sold into slavery instead of led to the freedom they were promised. No doubt many of them knew the fate that was awaiting them, but had held out hope of a miracle, or pretended so as to avoid breaking the truth to their wives and children as long as possible.

Slavers did not take kindly to Braavos' habit of sneering down at them, of not being allowed to dock in Braavos and do trade, even when they had no slaves on board, simply because they were slavers when not in Braavos. Now that the surviving Braavosi were in need of help they found themselves at the mercies of those very slavers they once scorned. It wasn't a pretty sight.

Still, depressing as it was seeing entire families, some who had nothing to do with Braavos' policies being treated as if they had made the laws themselves... something in you feels a bit of sympathy. Or at least it does before it is ruthlessly crushed by pragmatism. What good were they? Free they had no jobs, no money, and likely no skills beyond being a trader of some kind, and not in the things Volantis specializes in trading.

People generally preferred their own whenever possible, so they would form an unhappy sub-section of the city, where their own culture would run strongly. It would only result in an entire city sector hating the very city that saved them due to a difference in beliefs. Oh, they'd be grateful at first... but their gratitude at being saved would vanish relatively quickly, and they would instead become a part of the populace that is likely to spread dissidence and unrest.

These people were mostly wealthy nobles after all, people used to having more than anyone else, those who managed to afford to get smuggled away before the attack to wait it out on a small island until the end. These weren't Braavosi small-folk, these people were used to being heard, thinking that their thoughts actually mattered. Those types didn't normally take well to suddenly not mattering.

Left to their own devices the once nobles would gather and become a problem. Better to split them up where they had no support system that would convince them that things were still salvageable, they wouldn't adapt to the new situation they found themselves in and would instead insist that the rest of the people needed to adapt to them. As if this was their home instead of the other way around. People of wealth and privilege tended to act the same no matter where they were from after all.

If this were your city, you wouldn't simply enslave the poor people, but you would ensure that they were split up. Perhaps grant a simple home to each family in exchange for several years of service, all in different sectors of the city. Make sure that as few as possible, none if at all feasible; of their neighbors were from their home, forcing them to assimilate with the local culture rather than letting them form a culture block of their own.

Had they been from some other city, one with a compatible culture and system of beliefs, such measures would not be necessary. Honestly, almost any of the other slave cities would have managed without such measures. Most of the differences were minor between them. But a city that was quite literally founded on the value of freedom and the city that was the heart of the slave trade? The city that was the closest thing to the culture that the city of freedom had escaped from? Utterly impossible. Allowing two so impossibly incompatible cultures to mix freely was just begging for trouble. Measures needed to be taken.

But this isn't your city. Volantis as it is now was never going to do anything but enslave them, and as long as it meant they were separated and therefore forced to assimilate, the Triarchs were happy. You on the other hand...

The Khal was coming, and you needed power to deal with him, not sympathy for the weak. Power was what the world revolved around after all, as shown by what was happening here. The Braavosi and their precious values meant nothing when they no longer had the power to enforce them. And if you wanted to ensure you didn't end up in their position, only to the Dothraki instead... you needed to focus on what was important. You might feel sympathy for the new slaves, but frankly you had other problems to worry about.

Like why you had received a notice to come here in the first place.

You eventually find the tent that you were looking for, one bearing the mark the letter you were delivered was originally sealed with. When you approach several burly guards attempt to waylay you, but when you give your name you are allowed entry.

Inside you see a man lounging in a chair far too fancy for him. He's obviously a pirate, here selling slaves like all the rest, wearing fancy clothes and using classy furniture that he couldn't be more unfit for. I mean really, any noble worth more than a singe talon would take one look at the man and see that he is trying far to hard to present himself as something he's not. The nobility and grace of the noble classes is not simply captured by wearing the proper clothing and having the correct furnishings after all.

But none of this is what truly catches your attention. Instead your eyes are drawn to, and stuck on two individuals tied up in the back corner. Two people you thought you would never see again. Jaehaelyx and a very, very pregnant Saenera.

The voice of the pirate is full of satisfaction as he notices your unwavering gaze. "Well, Lord Targaryen, I see you understand why I sent word to you. So tell me, how much are these two worth to you?"

How do you react? In general terms.

Well, thank @RaptorusMaximus for saving Jahaelyx and Saenera. Now you just have to get them before they're sold back into slavery again. A fate they had only just escaped when you hired them on in Braavos. Do you want your servants back? Or do you not care? Something in between? Tell me everything lol.

And yes, Aegon has had a shift in his personality this segment. He's become just a bit more... pragmatic about things, and sees power as more important than before.

Oh, and the talk with Kinvara is coming. I just kinda... got thrown into this by the muse. I'll do the talk soon.

[x] Your Life. Give them to me and I won't have your throat slit whilst you sleep. Or have my friends the Triarchs or the Red Priests kill you in whatever manner they so choose. I hear the Red Temples fires burn best with flesh for kindling.
-[x] You may scoff, but ask yourself, are two slaves worth the risk? Is it worth angering a Dragonlord in a city where he holds great sway and power?
-[x] Show him your scales and flames and mention how the city and the major religions here see you as holy and how your death or someone so lowborn displeasing you would earn a fate worse than death

Shit it gonna go real yo.

Perhaps we should summon our scales?

Point, but there is the problem of scorning someone we could have use for in the future.
A no name pirate captain? We have a massive fleets and will have massive armies and we will have dragons. We have literally no need for this guy in any capacity and he would in fact be a liability due to his untrustworthy nature and the way his association with us would make us look like we're associating with the dregs of society to the real power base we want to appeal to.

This guy literally cane in here to try and take advantage of us. We take back our servants and then we have him killed anyway.

I actually thought we had them with us...
Nah, you let them run your estate in Braavos while you were gone. Gave them access to the funds you left there so that they could. Lucky thing too, or they would never have been able to afford to "wait out" the siege on that island. I pretty much put them out of my mind and only into my notes once we left, and my notes got ruined sooooo.... Yeah. They were already dead to me, even without Drogo.

@Lunasmeow , Hatching our Dragons seems to be a very important part of this quest. How would go about getting Aegon to hatch them? I see options for research and the hiring of magical support, but that doesn't seem very reliable. What path do you recommend we take in order to hatch our dragons in a timely matter?

It's unlikely we're gonna get a response out of him. The best option we have RN is to have our people pour over the texts the Ancient Valyrians left for us in the temple and find the hatching ritual/method in there. I'm convinced it's in there somewhere.

Luna's not just going to give us the information. Amd even if he did, Aegon wouldn't know it.

Raptor is right. In as much as: I will not just give away the answer. That's not my role here. Especially since I'm Tessarion. God of Secrets and all that.

Is this something we would have taken our assassin with us for? What is his name again? I feel like he'd be in the shadows making sure we're protected meeting with a pirate and all.

- Pay him the price of transporting our servants with thanks and talk of future business venture abroad we might need. He could get word to Viserys or give us pertinent information from across the world.
-- If he is resistant or reluctant to work with us threaten him.
--- If he laughs or refuses have the assassin cut his throat.

-If he accepts; as we leave the tent tell him will have him whipped through the streets and impaled on the walls if he ever tries this coercive type of tactic again.

Why do we need him for trade missions when he's a Pirate and we have a fleet and trading company already?

Hiring someone we can never trust and who will harm us via association for no real visible benefit and paying him when we have no reason to do so seems pretty silly. We're a dragonlord with immense power in this city. If we don't act like it at some point it'll start to hurt our reputation.

We don't have to personally associate with him. We have servants. It never hurts to have eyes and ears in different places.

Whether or not this pirate in particular is useful is up for debate.

It's rather not have Aegon murder someone possibly useful just to prove he's got the biggest dick and that no one should fuck with him.

Especially since we already did that by burning everyone and everything attacking us in the streets that one time.

So we're ignoring the attempted blackmail? We're ignoring the slaving that we specifically don't like all that much? We're ignoring the fact he's holding a pregnant woman hostage to get to us?

Yeah, it's all about Aegons 'big dick'. Got nothing to do with anything else at all.

Also this guys a pirate, a lowborn Pirate. No one will miss him and no one will care and he'll fold and give us everything if he's got half a brain. You want respect in a city which values blood and lineage and power you don't bend over to a lowborn weak pirate when you hold power over him immensely. We don't need him, no one will care if he dies and he'll likely capitulate when we show him how bad a position he's in.

Literally there is no reason not to put him in his place whatsoever.

He's definitely scum and needs to know his place where he's concerned with us. I added that to the bottom of my first post.

But I just don't see the point of going muderhobo on something so petty. And who knows, maybe he's kin to another pirate that could cause trouble. Probably not but instead of just off the cuff murdering him for this insult we could let him know exactly who's property he has and why he made a mistake.

If he's to be killed finesse it a little at least.

Dude my vote is to threaten to kill him, not actually kill him right then and there. Remind him he's in a city where we hold sway. Once he breaks we can decide wether or not our assassin should end him, which has a lot of finesse. This guy has only been added as a character because we forgot about our servants in Braavos. He's got nothing else and frankly I don't care if he does, he can either learn his place or we can arrange an accident and take back our servants afterwards. Doesn't matter.

All I'm saying is that we hold the cards. We should not forget that.

Fair enough. We're wanting the same thing overall. Just with different ways of getting it.

Yours strong arms from the get go and gets our servants back.

Mine gets them back and possibly gives us someone that travels and hears things.

But either plan will have him know that we could have him killed very easily.

I like the idea of not appearing all that concerned and then nonchalantly threatening him with violence and walking away after we've gotten our servants.

But I'm also okay with laying out exactly who he's thinking about fucking with and the immense world of pain we would visit upon him.

Eh, more you could likely have a bodyguard around than an assassin. Different skillsets. But yeah, the bodyguard could fill the assassin slot in your idea.

Well, people have paid... Thanks to @HugoR, @Galerius And @Duesal... Drogo has two forced ones coming to him.
