Votes that do not follow the template will not be counted!

At this time I am using a counter system, listing the number of days votes take to be put into action. However for write-in votes you don't know how many days an action may take. For this we will use the old system of Major/Minor Decisions, and I will tell you how many days/weeks/months the plan will take. Remember that every month has 28 days, and that there are 13 months in the year with New Years as a special day alone outside the months. There is no leap year, as their calendar is not accurate to that degree.

Major decisions are any new endeavors. Finding new investments. Finding new allies (specify what type, where you're looking if possible, what you want from them, etc) finding new trainers, starting new training even if it is with people you already know... Anything new.

No mixing something that would qualify as a minor decision or free action into your major votes! If you have a question about your votes, ask me.

Talking with specific people about specific subjects. You can generally only talk with one person at a time with this. There are simple logical exceptions, Husband & Wife combos can be put together as one conversation, brother & sister, stuff like that. I'll clarify if a combo is unacceptable when I see the vote. This is also for continuing any long term action. Any major decision that you have already voted to start (not just mused about in-story) can be a minor action the next time around. Continuing training that you have already begun for example. Continuing a long-term investigation or plot. Stuff like this.

Making small talk with characters. You will not learn anything special really, but it gives you more insight into their backgrounds and history, can raise/lower their loyalty or other relationship points with you, etc. Raising/lowering and how much depends on rolls.

These can interrupt any current action(s) and will take precedence over the current plan. A way to change things on the fly as you discover new information or alternate ways to potentially enhance your plan, or change it completely if needed.

Remember for all votes if you take a guard or other individual with you, you will need to write-in which guard/person you take with you (just saying take a guard or ally will leave the decision of which one up to me) and also whether Daenerys tries to use any future knowledge on the decision as well if it is one of hers or she is present. (She still may decide to try and use her future knowledge without your consent if she thinks it necessary.) These details are sub-votes.

[] [Plan] X (Current Month, Short Term, Long Term, Immediate Actions, Purchases, etc.)
-[] Major Decisions: Character name here
--[] Major Decision 1
---[] Sub-conditions of Major Decision 1
---[] Sub-conditions of Major Decision 1
--[] Major Decision 2
---[] Sub-conditions of Major Decision 2
---[] Sub-conditions of Major Decision 2
-[] Minor Decisions: Character name here
--[] Minor Decision 1
---[] Sub-conditions of Minor Decision 1
---[] Sub-conditions of Minor Decision 1
--[] Minor Decision 2
-[] Free Actions: Character name here
--[] Free Action 1
---[] Sub-conditions
--[] Free Action 2
---[] Sub-conditions

You get the jist of this.

However, under the plan vote, you will then put a "Priority" Vote.

[] Aegon Priority: 1. Major Decision 1, 2. Free Action 2, 3. Minor Decision 1, 4. Major Decision 2, etc.
[] Daenerys Priority: 1. Free Action 2, 2. Major Decision 3, 3. Minor Decision 1, etc.

This way we can vote on the general plan, then I can separate the order of events in said plan.

Don't put V1, V2, or any other such revision information into your plan. Just leave it like I have it. Nothing extra. The tally system will update to your newest post. No need to make version markers. It just makes things harder for me.

If an action in a plan is not one for a specific character, more a general idea of what needs to be done, it will still need to go into the priority matrix.

At the end of all your votes, put your reasons explaining your vote choice. As I've said before, a plan with reasons will get more weight than one without. Because reasons matter. I care about reasons more than numbers. I need reasons to help build the characters. Get used to putting reasons into your plans, as eventually reasons will become a requirement rather than a suggestion. This post will change when that occurs.

[] [Plan] X

You may (but are not required to) put additional reasons to agree with that plan beneath your vote if there are reasons for it that the original vote creator didn't put in that you thought of. The more/better the reasoning inside explaining a vote, the greater the chance it will be added into the story.

Votes are typically closed after either 12 or 24 hours unless real life interferes. Ties will be either decided by me, or by whoever is in the forum or the Discord that has not voted already at the time. I will @ whoever is currently in the forum or Discord that I choose to be the tiebreaker.

Plans have specific timelines. Immediate Actions are obviously immediate. Current Month is similarly self-explanatory. Short Term is something that can conceivably be done within 1-3 months, and Long Term is 3-6 months.

I heard a few things, but I heavily avoided every and all Game of Thrones review channels and tried looking in the other direction... Not that it helped...
Well, it was amazing. The way they went there and killed them and saved those other people, and the way he killed him and then they ran away and he came back and he raised him was great too!

I'm going to ignore the vision. They were never helpful to anyone in the books and prophecy in general seems to be of a self made sort. See Cersei for example.

I don't know if we should entirely ignore it, but yeah, obsessing over visions and prophecies tends to end badly in this setting.

Also, what was edited out from the vision post? Or should I not ask that?

Getting To Know the Help
Fourth Month 3rd Week

There has been a flurry of activity in your home since you purchased it. Receiving the furniture, learning your way around the rooms, getting your new servants settled, stocking the larder with food, getting new clothes from the marketplace. (No Dany, we can't get a puppy.) But on the whole things have gone as you would expect. Now however, it is time to get to know your new staff members.

First you acquaint yourself with Jaehaelyx and Saenera. Now that you are in the privacy of your home and not speaking with them in front of a room full of other interviewees, you ask plainly whether they were pleasure slaves or not. At this, Jaehaelyx colors before answering. Yes, he was however that portion of his life is behind him. And while this job is an opportunity, he will quit if you think that-

"No no," you say, raising a hand gesturing for him to hear you out, "not at all. I merely wanted to assure you that nothing of the sort would be expected here, paid or not, and to let the both of you know that if any of my hires tried to demand such of you that you need to report it to me immediately."

There is relief in Jaehaelyx's eyes and he visibly relaxes. It is likely that his bluster has come from his newfound freedom (and thus the ability to talk back) but he is still unsure of when he should act so and how far he can go when doing so. Saenera smiles in a placating manner and begins to explain his reaction.

She tells you of growing up in Lys, how they were glad to be part Valyrian as it meant that they were "pretty enough" to be house slaves rather than doing the harder work that slaves in Lys are usually forced to perform. You learn that for the most part these two were lucky and actually had a decent master, until he passed on and the son took control.

Jaehaelyx became a pleasure slave instead of merely a steward, but it was when he and Saenera were forbidden to marry (a revocation of permission that had previously been given by the now dead father) that he finally was willing to take the risk of attempting escape. The new master apparently had decided that he was going to gift Saenera to one of his friends after discovering the two of them sharing a kiss one night. A friend that took pleasure in impregnating his slaves, allowing them to give birth, and once the children were old enough, selling them to people with... unusual interests in them. He seemed to enjoy watching the mothers bond with the children despite what they knew was coming, and tearing that bond apart in the worst manner possible.

Knowing that Saenera would be devastated at such an event Jahaelyx secretly used the house funds to purchase escape on a ship out of Lys. Afraid the entire time that the trip was a farce, that the person being hired was one of many who pretended to be a door to freedom but are really capturing escaping slaves, these two were lucky.

Jahaelyx and Saenera are strangely accepting of slavery, considering their recent escape from it. You don't know if it is because they simply do not truly know any other way yet, having only recently escaped; or if it is because their master was "one of the good ones" who understood that healthy and well fed slaves were able to produce more work than sickly starving ones.

In truth, you realize as you think on the situation there is likely to be give and take on such a thing. If slaves are cheap to purchase, then it might indeed be financially better to simply get them and use them up, as medical care and such can be more expensive than simply purchasing new slaves. However in their case the master's business was in fine goods, not simple things like unrefined ore. Things which required expertise to create, not just a number of hands to perform the work, willing or no. Had he been an owner of mines requiring only hands to dig with well, who knows if he would have operated on the same principles.

Still you can tell throughout the conversation that Jahaelyx is nervous about his freedom. The freedom to achieve also necessitates the freedom to fail after all, and where before he balanced books, he did so on his master's behest, simply performing the math required; not making the decisions of what to purchase and when that caused the math. Numbers he is used to, but decisions he is not, and now he has a wife to look after with children to no doubt follow.

You get the impression that were you so inclined, you could have pushed the issue on making him service your guests and he may have capitulated, so long as you allowed no harm to come to Saenera. A small part of you enjoys knowing that you have power over others, even power that you have no inclination to use; but most of you is simply glad that you were the one to hire the two. For while Braavos is a city that despises slavery, what a worker agrees to provide for a wage is their own decision.

Not everything is quite so weighty however. You are pleased to discover that while Jahaelyx is trained as a steward, Saenera is not only a maid and cook, but that she knows many Westerosi dishes as well. The Targaryens were known to seek wives from Lys, always seeking to maintain their Valyrian features. Especially whenever they had recently lost some due to intermarrying with the lords and ladies of Westeros. The masters of Lys are always prepared to host a Targaryen King or Prince, in the hopes that their grandchild could sit the Iron Throne.

While Targaryens are no longer the ruling class of Westeros, the training still continues. Knowing that the Targaryen line still contains survivors, and being firm believers in Valyrian superiority, the ruling class in Lys is quite certain that the Targaryens will return to power eventually, or perhaps another Blackfyre will show themselves and take their place. Either way, they are ever prepared to provide a suitable consort to such a King or Queen.

Not having been raised in Westeros, neither you nor Dany are accustomed to their particular brand food. Having such meals interspersed with those of Lys (supposedly they still have recipes from Valyria itself) would be a small way to begin to connect with both heritages, and also a way to not embarrass yourself in the future when hosting any allies from Westeros when you eventually bring death to the Lannisters and Baratheons. One could hardly claim to be rightful king if you cannot even stomach a local meal.

Still having learned something of their past and grown more comfortable with them, you dismiss them to their duties and move onto your next self-appointed task. Doing the same with your two new guard captains. As each came with 3 guards beyond themselves, you have 8 total guards for your home. With two guard captains you can have two 12 hour shifts, providing round the clock protection to your home. You'll only have 3 on duty at any given time, 1 off each day per shit allowing for a smooth rotation - but you'll need to get to know the captains at least and determine who might be best for days, and who might be best for nights. Your night shift guards are not just a question of skill, but also of trust.

You first speak with Boromun of the Stepstones, the once pirate who abandoned that life to join the Braavosi navy and is now honorably retired. You find him to not be quite as open as the two former slaves you just spoke to. He tells much about his time fighting against piracy and will share battle tales easily enough, but when you ask about why he stopped being a pirate he merely says, "Some things are worth more than gold," and refuses to elaborate. There is some tale there no doubt, but Boromun is unwilling to tell it. At least for now.

His skill with a blade is only middling, have been far better at commanding that fighting himself, and generally avoided being boarded by sinking enemy ships before they could get close enough, but his men were trained to fight by the navy where he had learned on his own as pirates do, and are quite skilled. You discover that he would have preferred being hired onto a private merchant ship, but as the Braavosi say, "The need for coin drives all men."

Perhaps at some time in the future you could hire another guard captain and have Boromun be in charge of your ships once you have some. You can hardly invade Westeros and slay the usurper without a proper navy after all, and if you ever plan to have a truly thriving business in a port city like Braavos, and not simply make ends meet; ships to carry your wares far and wide are an obvious necessity.

Having failed to learn much from Boromun you make a note to try again at some point in the future when he has become more comfortable around you. Perhaps over some beer or wine?

Your last major conversation of the day is with Matalarr of Lys. Another former slave, he earned his way to freedom with his blades. A feat not often done, even slaves like Jahaelyx and Saenera would hear tales of his skill when working in the homes of their masters.

Reports of his abilities say his skill was uncanny. He fought with two blades, one long, one short wearing only light armor to ward off any glancing blows. Preferring to dodge attacks than to block them, he reportedly danced around the ring bringing death to any who came close. At some point he became so feared that other people in the ring stopped coming near him altogether, until only he was left as the last possible opponent. Quickly figuring out that to face him already exhausted from fighting others while he was still fresh was utter suicide, his next matches were not the normal "free for all" type that they should have been.

Entire arenas would have an informal truce, all focusing on attacking him first, content to kill each other after, and yet still he defeated them all. He is not unscathed from his experiences, thought the tales certainly claim such, but his scars are light, barely noticeable unless one comes close no doubt lending credibility to the claims that "none could harm him" as those who were close enough to see the scars plainly, were often close enough to die.

It was when other gladiators were so afraid of fighting him that they would rather simply refuse to fight and be beaten, or even amputated in punishment that the ringmasters came up with a new plan. One final fight was proposed, wherein one slave would be freed. Either Matalarr would be victorious and be released, or whomever managed to slay him in battle.

This revitalized the other gladiators and Matalarr fought his fiercest battle ever, being given weapons but no armor - yet still he managed to survive, taking the armor of the first man he killed, (though he admits that trying to put it on one handed while fighting with his sword in his other was a near impossible thing one that he has zero confidence he could pull off again) he suspects that the true intent was to have him murdered. Many a Lady had him secretly spend time with them while their husbands were away, and he would not be surprised to discover if he had been caught. "Still," he shrugs seemingly cavalier about it all, "it was a better life than the mines. You don't see any beautiful ladies pining after those poor bastards. And gladiators get plenty of food, rest, and medical attention. The healthier and stronger we are, the longer we can fight and entertain the crowds."

His roguish smile and easygoing manner makes you remember that Dany, while on the cusp of adulthood is still young, and somewhat naive, so you resolve to keep an eye on him around her. Skilled in battle he may be, certainly better than you are with a blade, but a Lord worthy of her hand he is not.

You subtly hint that so long as he is "professional" while on duty and with his employers, what he does in his personal time is his own business. Noticing your pointed glance in Daenerys direction he laughs loudly and ensures you that his tastes run towards slightly more "mature" beauties. He freely admits that if she were 10 to 15 years older you might have been better off hiring another, but that as she is now he is hardly interested. "After all," he says, "by that age they actually know what they are doing, and are willing to do it boldly, in the light where their bodies can be visually appreciated; rather than fumbling about blindly in the dark." The conversation ends soon after on a cordial note, and you know that you both understand each other.

You are somewhat relieved, but you also know that he may only be saying such to not anger his new source of income. The future will tell whether he is being honest or not. You can only hope that if he isn't you find out before anything goes... awry. Unless she marries a Dornishman, her suitors are likely to care about such things after all. And you may yet require her marriage for an alliance. You aren't worried about this for your own sake; no, not at all.

Looking over at her once again you find yourself suddenly realizing that yes, Dany is getting older, and is more beautiful than you noticed until today. Well, you'd noticed but in a more clinical sense, realizing that it would soon be time to start seeking suitors for her. Now you've noticed on a more personal level and are unsure what to think about it. She catches you staring and smiles prettily at you. Confused at your own internal feelings you simply nod and hurry to find something else, anything else to do.

Ah, you have just the thing. Suddenly remembering that you have no workers for your new farm, you begin drafting a flyer that you will have posted in several taverns and read by some town criers. You need to recruit someone to work the land as soon as possible, that's why you're doing this now. Certainly not to avoid looking Daenerys in the eye after having been caught staring from across the room. Yes, that's exactly it. And you certainly did not here a feminine giggle that you refuse to react to. Not at all.

In case any of you are wondering where the bit about Dany came from when talking with Matalarr and after well, since everyone actually talking about her in the thread seems to be treating Dany as if it is a foregone conclusion that she will be our wife, I decided to start adding bits of attraction to her into the character. Jealousy is useful in that sense.

You of course had to option to merely dote on her as if she were a little sister and you the overprotective older brother, spoiling her rotten and turning her into a high maintenance nightmare for some other poor bastard, (and still do have that choice) but it doesn't seem to be what you all intend from all the "Happy wife" comments and the lack of anyone speaking against them other than to say things like "let's not go bankrupt from overspending to keep the wife happy". More a disagreement on always indulging her than a disagreement on marrying her.

Also, do try to remember that her birthday is the 27th day of the seventh month. I'll probably not remind you in-story. You'll likely need to write in that you start shopping for a gift or preparing a party or something. For that matter, your birthday is the 9th day of the second month.

As for the farm, like many other words, fallow has multiple definitions. A fallow farm can be plowed but left unseeded, simply fallow for a season or two to let the soil recover (Far more often before crop rotation was learned, but still done somewhat - no crop rotation here in ASOIAF yet I'm ruling.) but it can also mean land that has been both unplowed and unseeded for many years. In our case the farm is the latter definition. It will be a while before it is ready to produce goods.

What will you do over the course of the fourth week of the month?

Choose Three
[] Get the town criers to help with recruitment of farmers - 10 CW
[] Put the fliers up in the taverns yourself and nothing else.

[] Start training with a blade with Matalarr
- [] Use one sword. That way should something happen you can find another trainer easily.
- [] Use two swords. The skill is rare, and he is a veritable master of the art if the tales are true.

[] Write-in

Who works the night shift?

Choose One (Obviously)
[] Matalarr for night shift.
[] Boromun for night shift.

People can tell you who read it. They can describe it as best they can, so long as they refrain from putting it back word for word (or star for star as the case may be) if they somehow still have access to the original segment. I as QM won't answer though. This will be a Player team effort on things like this.

[X] Put the fliers up in the taverns yourself and nothing else.

[X] Spend some time with Dany explaining how to rule, in case something happens to us.

[X] Start training with a blade with Matalarr
- [X] Use one sword. That way should something happen you can find another trainer easily.

[X] Matalarr for night shift.

He fought with two blades, one long, one short
Well done, you didn't fall into the trap of having ahistorical weaponry.

[X] Go look around Braavos, take Matalarr with you for protection and look for the areas tradesmen hang out. This circumvents the need for town criers. There will be plenty of men hanging about looking for employment we can hire. Also we get to know the city better. If there aren't many men for whatever reason then go to the town criers. Start athletics training, and concentrate on conditioning.

I don't see blade training to be particularly significant yet. The ability to run away is more useful for a child. We can just hire more guards if necessary. We should also train with knightly weapons because they're pretty solid choice, and when we get to Westeros people won't think we're weird. Sword and Shield are far more useful than two swords. That way we don't get shot as easily.

Reasoning: Got to spend money to make money, and this expense seems cheap compared to what we've just recently paid for. Plus it's relatively safer to delegate this to others, both for our reputation and our own personal safety.

[X] Contact the Iron Bank in order to request their help in acquiring tutors for Daenerys and yourself. If you wish to truly rule you will need to make sure that you are educated and trained in the skills of a Sovereign.

It somewhat shows in our character pages that we are somewhat lacking in the skills needed to be an effective ruler. The Iron Bank so far has proven adept at getting us servants and guards, I am sure they will also have good recommendations for trustworthy and discrete tutors.

[X] Start training with a blade with Matalarr
- [X] Use two swords. The skill is rare, and he is a veritable master of the art if the tales are true.

He is a master at his craft, we could learn one handed swordsmanship from anyone, might as well try to be unique in a sense, though I think with our build, such as our high strength stat, we would probably be better off finding someone to teach us how to wield two-handed weaponry rather than dual wielding blades.

[X] Boromun for night shift.

You would do well to remember that this is not current day. You are 16 and are a man. A young man yes, but not a child. You can be challenged to a duel in an honor situation, will be seen as a coward if you run instead of fight, etc.

Not to negate anything else in your point here, other than that one tiny thing.

As long as we have the Targ dragon prominently displayed on our chest, meaning our outfit isn't black, the bravos shouldn't trouble us.

Yes people could come and say 'your grandfather insulted mine, lets duel' and we can say that we did not give the offence so do not need to answer it.

I don't think 'what if we were dueled' is a very good excuse. There are relatively few duels that happen in the books or show, the more prominent I think being the trails by combat, both of which are conducted by champion. Oh and Strong Belwas vs the Phal guy, but that's also by champion.

I can't think of a situation that we might get into that would force us to duel as you seem to be implying.

Reminding you that you aren't a child, (since you specifically mentioned being one and how running is more useful) and since you'll likely be working towards interacting with high society, duels are possible. Even if you don't intend to cause offense, bad die rolls on diplomacy are a thing.

It was a warning of possibility, not an argument.

[X] Contact the Iron Bank in order to request their help in acquiring tutors for Daenerys and yourself. If you wish to truly rule you will need to make sure that you are educated and trained in the skills of a Sovereign.

[X] Start training with a blade with Matalarr
- [X] Use one sword. That way should something happen you can find another trainer easily.

[X] Boromun for night shift.

[X] Get the town criers to help with recruitment of farmers - 10 CW

- [X] Use two swords. The skill is rare, and he is a veritable master of the art if the tales are true.

If that's the case then in my mind it makes more sense to have Matalarr with us during the day and Boromun on the night shift since Matalarr is a better duelist and is the one who would be stepping in for us in all likelihood if we run into that situation.

[X] Put the fliers up in the taverns yourself and nothing else.

[X] Spend some time with Dany explaining how to rule, in case something happens to us.
