[X] The best of both worlds, shape of the top for the actual body, with the ego mantle forming two many eyed rings crossing around the torso.

Because both are pretty cool, and while I could probably come up with something I like better given time, I'm feeling lazy and have Pokémon catching to do.

If we mattermold longer arms, could we melee attack medium range instead of short range? Like the robots?

That doesn't work because as soon as you punch outside your ring of influence the ectoplasm splatters like water. you're giving the foe an, albeit wet, gooey non-threatening slap.

Being able to do that properly takes training of the skill.

Why's the ring option option so popular I wonder. Doesn't seem like a very useful form in general since it lacks limbs.

So we can train ourselves to be able to extend etcoplasm past a certain point? Maybe other etcoplasm skills later on?

Can the Mantle extend further so we could throw out mantle punches?

Training. We haven't had the time to train yet. But it helps extend the abilities of your skills. You also train just form using the skills.
 
The mantle makes up our limbs. Basically we would be the ring, but the mantle core would, I think, create disembodied extremeties for anything we need.

C'mon people! Ring time!
