Terrene Spire - Gently ended.

--[X] Don't get rid of the purple scythe. It's pretty useful and not taking up inventory space.

Not to Interrupt the suggestions, but technically that's a loading screen there. It'd be more worthwhile to wait until 'Chapter one' has begun.

Nah go ahead and vote. Chapter 1 can't start until we get context either way so some actions are needed.

Though to be fair im probably gonna take a day break since, fucking christ this update... Its literally what I have been doing since last update, almost done nothing else than that.

Also, a thing to talk about: What we technically got to here, is what I call "Route B". There is a gigantic set of things that can happen based on what you all choose to do, and your actions this time landed you in Route B.

Let me describe the Routes of the prologue:

Route A: You spawn, get out of the room, follow Briggs, encounter Eishalon on bridge, follow Briggs still, go down, follow through cave, Ordgrown Village, meet Shrub + Villagers, talk to Briggs and presto Route A is complete.

Route B: spawn. If you die at any point in Route A, Route B activates. Spawn. Encounter Eishalon. Quickly Eishalon is destroyed by Shrub. Talk to Shrub. Shrub goes away. Go to bridge, Encounter Red Robots, go to end of bridge, Shrub comes back with Biggs.

Also, there is the unofficial Route C: Die 3 times along these routes, and there will be no enemies left as it will have become night time. Based on if you met Biggs or Shrub, certain events change but in the end "Route C" leads to the ending of Route B, which is why it's unofficial.

Now, all of those are rather puzzling plots of potentials but, here's where it gets fun: You guys literally chose the hardest path. Still in A, you go back to Red and Red turns Eishalon and you fight them. I consider Eishalon Red the Bonus Boss of the Prologue. Well done on taking a boss fight as the first battle! After that you go out and could have encountered the bridge Eishalon, which would be weaker than the red robots, yet you fell to the car and got clicked into Route B, which's Tutorial fight is actually worse than Route A's.

I am just, amazed at this path taken.

If you had died before going back to Red, after spawning the room would be turn asunder but the respawn point would still be okay and Shrub would be killing Red as you spawn! Like, all of these events fit together in various ways yet you took the hardest path! Inconcievable!

Oh, and if you can, please don't think about "Will this get me into a different route" after this. Only the Prologue was this simple with it and it's counter productive to consider all of the possibilities like this. Know that im not forcing actions to happen. I have just set up a lot of cones, and it's up to you guys to knock down the ones you find.

We did it guys. We finished the Prologue... Jegus chriminy. I am so proud of all of you, and, almost worst of all, I am proud of myself for some reason... Gosh...

Also, holy fuck I could use some positive words of encouragement right now, some interesting thoughts, some dialogue, anything. I am so worn out and any kind of positive write-up will help.

Your art style is amazing. I kinda want to do fanart of it.

Dex, this is the most amazing thing that I have seen so far in my time on SV, you are one of the top 3 writers on this site and I am loving every minute of this quest.
That I you for doing this, it means a lot to us to get something this cool and have such a great person be behind it.

Dude. Duuuuuuuuuude. I am currently deeply envious of your skills. Holy fuck, I had a massive oh shit wham I saw that.
Also, what did the orange eishalon look like? It seemed chubbier than red.

The worldbuilding that goes on in every Wide-Shot panel leaves me giddy. Take the most recent two in this update:

More Giant Bones, in this case, what looks like half of a HUGE jaw. Then, next shot, the HUGE Eishalon mask. Except the longer I look, the less that looks like a Mask, and more like a Skull. There's teeth on the bottom, though some are obscured by the mountain, and what looks like a hinge-point for the jaw to attach. Then the star-shaped nose hole, which draws a connection between the Eishalon and the Glimmercite Crystals that we've seen literally everywhere.
Makes me wonder, could the Crystals be the blood of this Giant, hardened over however long it's been since it died? What the hell killed such a massive monster anyway?

Then the vault beneath, with the wreckage of something in front, which happens to match our color-scheme quite well, and then there's the Sword sticking out of a piece of it, with another something impaled on the blade.
Was whatever the wreckage was the attacker, and whoever left the sword defending? Or was it the defender, and sacrificed itself to keep the Door from being slashed open?

Really, the more I look at this world the more it feels like a strange afterlife that just went through their version of the Apocalypse.

Just what the Hell happened to this world!?

I want to know. And when a fictional world can do that, it's done a brilliant job IMO.

Freaking amazing, @Dexexe1234. I love, love, LOVE it when games make the effort to account for players doing their own thing and potentially going off the rails. Your accomplishment of this in the frickin' prologue leaves me giddy with anticipation for what lies ahead.

I'll also add my voice to the chorus of those who enjoy the visual clues in the environment. Makes me eager for whatever answers we can obtain.

@Dexexe1234
Gotta agree, the art here is phenomenal. Especially the spot where Shrub is holding Briggs. You can practically feel the sadness coming from him, and I thought the orange tears were a nice touch.

Nice work buddy, it looks amazing.

Dear god that final scene was gripping, like holy hell I felt pain looking at the expression on shrubs face Even though its practically a mask.

You conveyed his desperation with his voice and posture, not to mention the tears, very well. Kudos to you buddy.

Now lets see if we can save this kid.

@Dexexe1234 you're quest continues to amaze me. And holy shit, if this was just the prologue, I can't wait to see what you have in store for us for the main part. I hope you keep it up, I want to discover more about this strange world you created.

Oh damn. That shot of Shrub holding Briggs is amazing.
Good thing we have that giant backpack inventory, so we can now

[X] dramatically drop everything
- [X] keep the scythe and the halo-orb when we pick stuff back up afterwards, ditch or destroy the rest
(the mask might be evil, we don't have a shelf to display the heads of our slain enemies yet, and the vest was just AWFUL so to hell with it. the swords are cool and all but since weapons are functionally the same and they seem to lack the scythe's shiny visual effects, eehh.)
[X] offer our condolences
[X] help, we're a flashy orange badass after all!
[X] maybe we could bandage Briggs' leaking head with that hideous vest so it would be good for something at least...

Also, we fought the hardest (and secret) "level boss" as our first fight? And won? Hell yeeeaaah. (I mean we also died to an unmoving inanimate object but hey, Zest Lavie, right? ... I'll go shoot myself.)

There is a time and a place for being FABULOUS, and when our only friend is cradling the heavily injured/dead body of a small child/thing is not one of them. I think it's time for Zest to be serious for once.
