Terrene Spire - Gently ended.

Ask me stuff about this world!

Random questions in no particular order (yet, anyway): A lot of these are probably spoilers or inane questions, so feel free to ignore anything
Is there any form of larger government/country etc?
15 years from the last who? Ghosts, ghosts controlled by the Voices, anyone controlled by the Voices, Orange ghosts?
Why does he need to give us nametags an Alias Plate?
How big is Shrub's village? Are there similar villages?
Does the colourful guy (who's name I can't remember) have friends (or just anyone with him)?
Are there other Voices?
Where did the car come from?
Do the power lines actually supply power, or are they just aesthetic decorations?
From the car and power lines, I'm guessing this attempts to visually mimic a world similar to ours?
Are the stars actually stars, or just supplies of light in the sky? (see above as well)
What was the memory loss from RED's scythe?
Will probably edit in some more.

We've seen that there are multiple 'colours' of ghosts- how many colours are there with groups, are there any colours with multiple groups, and are there colour codings for things other than ghosts?

Is there some hidden purpose or reason for the glimmercite? Where did it come from? Why is it so often shaped like a four-pointed star?

Spoilers.

If I were to break a hole in that world's sky, what colour would leak through?

the color of space.

Why does this world look like it was merely set up to look post-apocalyptic, with non-functional replicas of things from our world?

Edit: do skills improve with practice?

Maybe there was civilization before? Post apoc isn't just nuclear fallout.

The more you use a skill the higher the chance of something happening to it.

Is the world that Zest inhabits strictly two dimensional?

In the most recent update, Zest appears to be standing on top of a bridge. In order to go to the area underneath the bridge, would ze have to break through the bridge, or would ze be able to hop over the edge of the bridge?

This is slightly tricky, but its also based entirely on the mechanics of the universe. This world is 3 dimensional, you can move back and forth through the various "planes" of the world. Basically as long as it doesn't go all black and shows nothing, its possible to "move around it" by going "towards the viewer" or even "away from the viewer". The combat is mechanically locking you in to make it easier to digest and also again because of the mechanics of the universe itself.

In other words:

"Locked into a 2D VIEW." Its just visual input. The character sees the world from their own eyes.

Is it possible to ever take control of that car if we 'leveled' up enough? Or are we limited to small objects?

Yes you can be able to possess bigger things.

Interesting...

Oh, is it spoilers to ask about how many colors/types of Ghost there are? Or even like "How many colors of ghosts are known to the other races/species/kingdoms?"

We've seen that there are multiple 'colours' of ghosts- how many colours are there with groups, are there any colours with multiple groups, and are there colour codings for things other than ghosts?

Right now we know there are Orange, Red, Blue, Purple and Gray ghosts. Everything beyond that is spoilers.

What does Orange remember of his past life?

Also, are all the living people Plant people, and does meat grow on trees?

Orange has no memory of their past life, no ties to consider. They have a really easy time accepting stuff as it is now because of it. Its almost like it never happened.

And spoilers.

Is there a tire iron in the back of the car?

Nope. The update inspecting it told us it was empty.

The stars are stars. They are just balls of exploding Magick instead of fusing plasma.

The beauty of it is that its both. The fusing plasma and its reaction is linked to explosion magick. Magick is really just the mechanics of the world doing its thing. Magi manipulate these mechanics for their abilities.

11: We don't know, maybe it wasn't a memory at all. That's why its memory loss. It had no effect on stats though.

If there are "classic fantasy races" (Elves, dwarves, halflings, dragons, whatever), are they going to be unique designs? If so, could you describe one that were are unlikely to encounter for a very long time, if at all?

Also, this would make a kickass graphic novel.

This would also make a kickass RPG(provided you can get somebody dedicated who can code well).

Most/all of the stories on Dexworks are set in Daros, right?
If they are, then is it possible for characters in one game to find the remains of another? For example, is it possible for us to come across the spud settlement's ruins? And if it is possible, why has it never happened?

By the way, this is super awesome, Dex! I love how deep the world seems and how there are so many cool hidden secrets

According to Shrubs there are at least orange, red, blue, purple and grey ghosts. All the glimmericite except for what we are possessing is purple. Are we in what is currently purple ghost territory? I.e. is the colour of the glimmericite indicative of which side is currently in control of the area?

Is there any way for Zest to interact with the Daeva, or is the Daeva completely outside zis frame of reference (like the player/programmer of a video game to the video game characters)?

All of Dex's adventures are indeed set in Daros! I don't think that's a spoiler.

Because of that, technically my avatar is Canon due to a short lived adventure over on Bay12. So there is a SI of myself as an insane wizard wielding unrestrained Chaos Magick running amok on some innocent planet somewhere, along with 4 other lords of ruin or whatever. They will not appear here, barring some really weird shenanigans maybe? I would put the chance at ~0% tho.

I get steam conversations all the time about how Dex's universe works, they're really neat.

Likewise, it's in coversations like them that he introduced me to Pant's magick and the examples of what it can do.

Long story short, if we meet a hostile Pantsmancer, RUN LIKE HELL.

Also, everything you can think of has elements, which means that there is a Magick style using it, including things that don't usually have an element.

There can be and probably is something called a RPGamancer.

Think about that for a moment.

Part of me wants to see a Shirtmancer and a Pantsmancer duking it out. Also, what is the element of Pants even about?

The first thing I thought after seeing this was, "Great, there's some Eishalonmancer running around, probably making life hell for people and a Ghostmancer that's probably going to make our life hell."

Would you say that the local (Orange) side lost about...15 years ago?

That's the implication.

There are classic fantasy races but they are far less prominent in comparison to everything else. Daros is a big, BIG place. Its almost like its an entire universe or something.

Yeah that bit is a problem Dex has struggled with for a long time. Turns out coders don't like to work for free. The ones that do tend to flake out after a bit.

If I could pay a coder I would!

The older stuff is slightly outdated given the current way Daros works, but if that doesn't bother you, try reading "Creation Thunders" and "Mineral Caper" (in that order) on my site. They literally cross into each other. It can happen but again, its an entire universe.

The first thing I thought after seeing this was, "Great, there's some Eishalonmancer running around, probably making life hell for people and a Ghostmancer that's probably going to make our life hell."

The initial idea is to realize pants is a portable gate. It has at least 3 openings from the getgo and this is whats exploited when you begin pantsamancy. Imagine being able to jump into some other pants from the pants you are wearing. Imagine holding a pair of pants over a cliff and making someone else fall through their pants and out these pants, dropping them off the edge.

Beyond that though, theres increased pocket space, "hefting yourself by your own pants", automated pants soldiers. Summoning through pants openings. Improved defenses in the leg region... The only thing really holding you back in casting is, truly, the limit of your imagination.

Question is, is the RPGmancer drawing Magickal power from Rocket Propelled Grenades or Role Playing Games?

And furthermore, which would be worse to fight?

Both are only as horrible as their imagination and the practice into doing what they can well.
