-[*] A New Hotel: The board has asked you to start working on a number of hotels this year. It's time to knuckle down and start working on some major expansions here, just so you can handle the increased guest flow. {PLANNING}

DC: 10 per success, requires 10/15/20 successes, for value/moderate/deluxe level resort.

Benefits: Move to Groundbreaking Stage.

Results: 81+20(Reedy Creek Map Bonus)+20(Reedy Creek Bonus)+10(Board Goal), 131. 13 total successes, 13/20.

You've got a great start on the first hotel the board's asked you to build.

-[*] Deluxe, needs 20 successes. You want to pull out all the stops, and make the next Contemporary or Polynesian. Construction DC is 20 per on Deluxe hotels.

With things squared away with Nintendo, it's time to get to work on drawing up plans for the new hotels. To start things off this year, you're going to work on expanding the deluxe offerings, since you're fairly certain that will take the longest and could use all the head start it can get. Of course, the first step when deciding how to plan this hotel, is to first pick an architectural firm that will work with you to make every detail perfect. To that end, you've chosen Wimberly and Cook, a firm that's been around for decades. Arquitectonica has done a stellar job with Animated Adventures, but they're still relatively new, and you want to keep them in reserve for some lower stakes hotels later on. You've got the firm with you in the Contemporary conference rooms, maps of the Reedy Creek district covering the table and walls. Right now, you need to figure out where exactly you want this hotel, and how big it should be.

"Looking at things, there's a couple of major areas that stand out to me, Mr. Eisner." says Jerry Allison. "First off, on the west coast of the Seven Seas Lagoon, you've got a prime spot on the monorail line that sits right next to the golf course. It's roomy enough for any size hotel you could imagine, and has great access to the parks." He starts outlining various areas on the map. "Next up, there's the spot on Bay Lake, just south of the Contemporary. A bit more of a hassle to get the monorail to, but nothing major. We could go as big as you wanted there as well, but it might take some extra groundbreaking work to make sure we don't run into any problems." You hum in agreement and nod, you'd looked at that spot last time before turning it down. "Keeping with the waterfront theme, there's some room at Crescent Lake, just west of EPCOT. I'm wary of starting anything too large there to begin with, though, since there's lots of little canals and waterways there. Later on, it'll probably be easier. Still, it's a good spot for connecting to the monorail, and you could even have a system set up to take a boat directly into EPCOT."

"Are there any open areas near the new marketplace? I know a year or so back I was looking at Bonnet Creek, even if a hotel there wouldn't be as large as one in the other locations." You say.

"Yes, yes. That could work out, and it'd be right on the monorail line. If you don't mind a smaller hotel, that would certainly be a good choice." Jerry says. "There's also a good chunk of land open to the southwest of the marketplace as well. Could easily accommodate any size hotel you needed. Be a bit more difficult to connect to the monorail, though. Might be easier to just run a smaller transit service to the marketplace monorail station instead."

-[] Seven Seas Lagoon. This location is extremely close to the Magic Kingdom, and has easy waterfront access in addition to being on the monorail line. Huge boost to Magic Kingdom park draw.
--[] Small: 500 CP, must have at least 250 points of rooms, but no more than 350. 5 groundbreaking, 5 construction.
--[] Medium: 1000 CP, must have at least 500 points of rooms, but no more than 750. 10 groundbreaking, 10 construction.
--[] Large: 2000 CP, must have at least 700 points of rooms, but no more than 1400. 15 groundbreaking, 20 construction.
--[] Huge: 3000 CP, must have at least 1500 points of room, but no more than 2300. 20 groundbreaking, 30 construction.

-[] Bay Lake. This location is quite close to the Magic Kingdom, but it has slightly worse waterfront access to the park in exchange for being somewhat closer to EPCOT. Large boost to Magic Kingdom park draw, small boost to EPCOT park draw.
--[] Huge: 3000 CP, must have at least 1500 points of room, but no more than 2300. 25 groundbreaking, 30 construction.

-[] Crescent Lake. This location is right next to EPCOT, with the potential to connect to the park by water. It's not too much of a hassle to connect to the monorail, either. However, due to the large amounts of canals and other wetlands in the area, your architects don't want to start with anything too large here. Huge boost to EPCOT park draw.

-[] Bonnet Creek. Right between EPCOT and the soon to be open Disney Marketplace, this spot is already on the monorail line and in a prime spot to connect to all your Florida parks and attractions. However, it's not particularly close to any but the Marketplace and EPCOT, and you don't have nearly as much solid ground to build on here as you'd like. Medium boost to EPCOT park draw, medium boost to the Disney Marketplace.
--[] Small: 500 CP, must have at least 250 points of rooms, but no more than 350. 5 groundbreaking, 5 construction.
--[] Medium: 1000 CP, must have at least 500 points of rooms, but no more than 750. 10 groundbreaking, 10 construction.

-[] Southwest of the Disney Marketplace. It's a bit of an odd location, but it has a good chunk of the advantages of Bonnet Creek without the size restriction, if you can figure out a good way to get it hooked onto the monorail line. Small boost to EPCOT park draw, large boost to the Disney Marketplace.
--[] Small: 500 CP, must have at least 250 points of rooms, but no more than 350. 5 groundbreaking, 5 construction.

Omake: Defunctland: Cosmic Odyssey (semi-canon)
Omake: Defunctland: Cosmic Odyssey with Carl Sagan

CarlSagan said:
Consider again that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar", every "supreme leader", every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there — on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.

The story of Cosmic Odyssey, begins and ends with one man. Carl Sagan was born in Brooklyn New York in 1934, and at the young age of 5 his parents took him to see the 1939 World's Fair, showcasing the boundless potential of science and technology, later in life writing "Plainly, the world held wonders of a kind I had never guessed. How could a tone become a picture and light become a noise?" remarking on the television and one of the first solar cells. Carl went onto study at the University of Chicago at the age of 16, and boasting that he graduated with a BA degree in nothing with special honors in 1954, and completing a BS degree in Physics in 1955. Thirty-six years later the joke earned a surprising laugh from Johnny Carson on the Tonight Show.

Sagan was a noted scientist, a wunderkind in a rare way contributed heavily to the planetary sciences division at JPL, and in a unique way brought his writing to public television. Cosmos was a 14 part documentary series for PBS Los Angeles affiliate. The show was a success and in 2015 is still the most widely watched PBS documentary series. Its emulation of British documentary style and Sagan as a host brought the series much critical acclaim and eventually the attention of the Walt Disney Company.

The "Circarama" theater of Disneyland was designed to show the innovative 360 degree filming technique, and bring to Tomorrowland a vision of the future. Ironically the last Circarama show in the Tomorrowland theaters before Cosmic Odyssey was... "Wonders of China", a circarama show still airing in the China Pavilion at EPCOT. To say that renovating Tomorrowland was a priority in 1986 was an understatement, Tomorrowland was about to become Yesterdayland, and when Frontierland looks less dated than a land designed to showcase a vision of the future you know there's a problem. The imagineers didn't really have a solution for a new film or change to the theater. Tony Baxter had an idea for a steampunk adventure that was a prototype idea for Timekeeper which would find a home in Discoveryland in Lille, but was not quite ready at this point. It is rumored at the time that Michael Eisner was at home going over some plans for Tomorrowland 2055, and bouncing them off his son Breck. Breck was lukewarm to the idea of Timekeeper, and his girlfriend clearly irritated with having to hear another pitch from her boyfriend's father allegedly said "Gawd, why don't you just get Carl Sagan or someone to do something for it!". Michael Eisner thought about it, after chastizing his son for taking his date to Studio K at Knott's Berry Farm, and put the wheels in motion to see if Sagan was even interested in such a project. Sagan showed up at Imagineering the next day, cancelling his classes at Cornell to get the ball going.

By March 1986, the Imagineers had reached out the Pixar to do some of the animations for Cosmic Odyssey, in particular the Jupiter Sequence. Tony Baxter who was initially reluctant to have his Timekeeper idea shelved found Sagan a delight to work with, and during the summer of 1986, Sagan was a regular feature at Imagineering, ducking his head in and out of departments. One day the imagineers were telling the story of their trip to Canaveral to see Challenger at the Vehicle Assembly building and how they apparently broke the O-ring on one of the SRBs. Sagan who was usually jovial, went deathly silent upon hearing that went as pale as a sheet, saying "If an imagineer tapping the outside of an SRB can crack an O-Ring that craft has no business launching at all", little did anyone know that they were right at the time. Although in a subsequent video I will discuss Disney's relationship with NASA and how Eisner and Sagan play a part in that saga.

The premiere of Cosmic Odyssey was a subdued affair as it was hardly the most lively of attractions, however the film's debut prompted Johnny Carson to invite Carl Sagan onto his show on August 6, 1986. The two men had been friends for years sharing their interests in science, and also skepticism and debunking charlatans. Carson used the opportunity to give his friend the star treatment even airing a brief clip of Cosmic Odyssey as many movie stars of the day didfor their own films. The appearance was not vetted by Disney, but Eisner was unwilling to chastize Sagan for giving effectively a 60 second commercial for Tomorrowland during the Tonight Show.

<Details about the Show itself>

<Details about the Show after a renovation>

In 2006, Carl Sagan declined to remake for the third time Cosmic Odyssey, citing poor health. Most evident here in his receiving a Presidential Medal of Freedom from President Christa McAuliffe, the cancer had returned, and Sagan's prognosis was worse then in 1993. In his final months he gave some last interviews and writings before telling Disney Imagineers who his successor would be for Cosmic Odyssey. On September 22, 2006, Carl Sagan the man that educated a generation about science and technology, who spoke before Congress about the needed changes at NASA and about the climate catastrophe, and lead the Planetary Society to heights they thought they never reached, passed away. In honor of his passing Imagineers renamed their Aeronautics Wing after him, similarly CalTech petitioned the city of Pasadena to rename their Monorail Station after Sagan, and in Disneyland when Tomorrowland was preparing to renovate once again, Cosmic Odyssey ran all of the series from 1986 to the last renovation in 2003, back to back. It is still one of the very few Disney Attractions to get a public send off and closing date... and Cosmic Odyssey with Carl Sagan joined Defunctland. To be replaced in a much more modern theater and attraction hosted by the new President of the Planetary Society.

Our posturings, our imagined self-importance, the delusion that we have some privileged position in the Universe, are challenged by this point of pale light. Our planet is a lonely speck in the great enveloping cosmic dark. In our obscurity, in all this vastness, there is no hint that help will come from elsewhere to save us from ourselves.
The Earth is the only world known so far to harbor life. There is nowhere else, at least in the near future, to which our species could migrate. Visit, yes. Settle, not yet. Like it or not, for the moment the Earth is where we make our stand.
It has been said that astronomy is a humbling and character-building experience. There is perhaps no better demonstration of the folly of human conceits than this distant image of our tiny world. To me, it underscores our responsibility to deal more kindly with one another, and to preserve and cherish the pale blue dot, the only home we've ever known.

@overmind thought I'd give it a shot while we wait for Slynnwen to safely return.

State of the Quest
Can anyone tell me why Slynnwen is out?
Surprise loss of living space, hospitalization shortly thereafter. I currently have a tablet without a charger, a flip phone that can be charged if I have access to a USB port, and a computer without a power cable. And half of the physical dice set I was using to run this quest. 🎉🎉🎉

STATE OF THE QUEST: Still chugging away on it! I have like 10 physical pages of notes. Incidentally:
Results: 96-??, ??. Slight Failure. With the collapse of Exxon and the subsequent damage to automakers, the economy has entered a minor recession. +5 to all DCs, including planning/groundbreaking/construction.

Oh and Vote Closed! I'll put the actual tally in once I get to write the update, which may happen later today, at the library computer I'm currently on. Not that such a tally seems needed.

I've got 5 minutes left on the computer, so I'll throw up a couple brief thoughts:

EuroDisney: If only there was a wide catalog of inspiration you could draw from for the park, like a comic book series.

Movie Studios Park: Warner Bros. is pitching a dark ride. It's based on Wile E. Coyote and Roadrunner.

FEEL FREE TO DISCUSS, WOOOOOO!

Oh also my Dad neglected to mention he was part of the mid-to-late 80's AOL Newsgroup for Disney. So expect something on that next turn.

Omake: A Look Into the Future, Disney’s Megaman 2017
Omake: A Look into the Future, Disney's Megaman 2017
@Slynnwen

Megaman (AKA the Blue Bomber, Rockman and The Fighting Robot) was first brought to the attention of the great runaway success of Megaman (Released 1987 ) by Capcom and released on the Nintendo Entertainment System the same year.

The Story of a Machine that fights for Freedom against the Evil Dr. Wily and his Robot Masters, was so american it hurt.

It was a solid, fun and hard game that is still going strong. But that is not what this is about. This is Megaman 2017. The Most Popular Retelling of the Character in recent Memory.

Inspired by The Protomen's work, who also made the Opening for the Show.

--------------------------------------------------

Season 1: The Light Fades.

The story itself begins in the Year 1999, with partners Albert Wily and Dr. Thomas Light , creating the idea of Mechanized labor at the Wake of Thomas's father's funeral. The two men then go about to work mechanizing society with machines.

Over time they grow more and more distant as Light meets his eventual lover Emily.

The Greed of Wily, the corruption of the state and the Power of the Machines made manifest. Forces Dr. Light to flee, we get greater detail in this in Season 2

We rejoin The Good Doctor years later, with Megaman, telling him the story of Protoman. And telling Mega that he does not have to fight in his brothers cause.

Megaman, who at this point has stayed out of the conflict finally resolves to fight.

He then spends the majority of the Two Part Season Finale walking around and then fighting the Entirety of the Robot Army getting into a battle with the Robot General, who is still alive Protoman.

The Season ends with Megaman Abandoning his mission to save mankind and begins wandering the City, its outskirts and the Badlands that surround the CIty with Dr. Light watching his Secound Son abandon the battle he was built to fight.

The Last we see of Megaman is him quietly leaving the City with the words.

HOPE RIDES ALONE!!!

Blaring in the backround. He walks away from the City alone.
----------------------------

The Stinger for the Season is Light visiting a graveyard. "Hey Joe...sorry I'm late for our visit. But something came up."

----------------------------------------------

Headed by the Legendary Screen writer Greg Weisman, and the Basic work of the Band the Protomen, the Show was released to great skeptisim and even greater aclaim by the fandom. Saying "This is a great and Fresh new spin on an age old and popular charecter, You've given it new life."

Following the hype of Megaman 11, Disney thought it a good idea to put a new spin on a Popular charecter. with Bob Iger saying "It is good to reinvent oneself once in awhile, to not only remind ourselves to stay young, but to also remind us how much we've grown."

AN: I was listening to Way too much Protomen, and with the Boss back, I thought it was a good idea to get something basic up.

Enjoy !!

“Hey There Gorges”
Warner Bros. proposed dark ride

Hey There Gorges

Type
: Dark Ride

Vehicles: Roadrunner vehicle for sustained speed.
Wile E. Coyote vehicle for sudden stop/starts.

Description: Starting with a loading bay, guests board either a Roadrunner vehicle, in front, or a Wile E. Coyote vehicle, in back. The vehicles then leave the loading bay, heading down a straight towards what looks like a tunnel painted on the wall. The wall swings open for the Roadrunner vehicle, which continues through a badlands scene, while the Wile E. Coyote vehicle stops and shakes as the doors slam in front of it. The Coyote vehicle then turns onto a different track, occasionally viewing the Roadrunner vehicle. They meet up with the Coyote vehicle behind as they head towards what appears to be a gorge, with 3 signs leading up to the the edge. They say "HEY THERE," "GORGES," and "UP AHEAD" on them. The second sign has paint on it to sloppily say "GORGEOUS" instead. They are spaced as though there are 4 signs, with astute guests able to notice a snapped off sign half hidden under a nearby pile of rubble that says "BRIDGE OUT" on it. The Roadrunner vehicle easily clears the gorge, continuing around more beautiful scenery (and the occasional ACME product). The Coyote vehicle slows to a stop over the gorge, and a sign that says "UH-OH" pops up as the vehicle is dropped, before it turns and heads towards the next element. The Roadrunner vehicle will be stopped at a pile of bird seed, waiting just long enough for the Coyote vehicle to get close before taking off. The Coyote vehicle will then tilt slightly upward as it reaches the bird seed to reveal a giant anvil with the words "1000 TONS" on it descending towards them. The lights cut out and a clang is heard before the vehicle shakily heads on towards an ACME rocket. The Coyote vehicle will then launch (as of on the rocket) towards the Roadrunner vehicle, ambiguously "catching" it as they head into the unloading bay. Guests then exit into a gift shop, with "Team Roadrunner" and "Team Coyote" products available.

Omake: The 10 Greatest Moments of Mega Man 2017 (Season 1 edition)
The 10 Greatest Moments of Mega Man 2017 (Season 1 edition)
@Slynnwen

"There are No Heroes left in Man Eh...tell that to the creators of this show...the real hero's right here, and celebrating Thirty years of the Blue Bomber.

Hello I'm Johnson from Watchmojo Dot Com and we are bringing you the Top ten best moments from Megaman 2017.

Moment 10: "Welcome to Tomorrowland" (Megaman ep 1:Welcome to the World of Tomorrow)

The First on our list is the first scene a beautiful narration of Dr. Light giving the viewer a small tale of how the city fell to the Evil Dr. Wily's influence and terror as we are shown subversives being killed in the streets.

Families being torn apart and any form of resistance against the madman's rule being crushed under the boot of a group of Sniper Joe's. This is punctuated with the very camera we are observing this gruesome horror to be shot down and the POV to shift to a man running in terror around the city.

He is cornered and killed as the instrumentals flare up in a triumphant fashion. The Most horrifying thing about the opening is how normal it seems as if the Show is saying "This is the normal...welcome to the city."

The fact it has a distorted version of the song "Welcome to Tomorrowland" By Dan Foliart is playing in the background only adds to the unsettling nature of the Opening...I mean Jesus we see a man shot to ribbons as quiet music plays in the background.

It's a brilliant opening to a brilliant pilot.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Moment 9: The Rioters Battle (Megaman ep 1: Welcome to the World of Tomorrow)

Next up is the Fight that directly following the opening the show is a small group of Men and is a clear showing of the Main Female Protagonist Roll's badassery.

Surrounded by Sniper Joes, the lady has the gall to tackle one and point blank shot another in the head.

What follows is a small showing of people trying to fight the machines. Even if it shows all but Roll being killed horribly it is a strong showing of who is still fighting even in a bleck world.

Roll survives by removing her arm, witch has a sling of grenades and flees the scene.

It shows that its a losing battle, but Mankind isn't exactly laying down and dying like in the Protomen songs.

----------------------------------------

Moment 8: Megaman's Defiance (Ep 3: The Blue Bomber Cometh)

Episode 3 has us finally see Mega after he has been hinted by Dr. Light for the last 2 episodes, Ole Rock wants to go out and fight the evil of Wily but his Father Light wishes him to not get involved in his own mistakes.

With the immortal line from the song given the weight it deserves the Defiance of Mega shows us that our blue bomber is going to get involved weather Light wants to or not.

The Immortal words "I have spent my entire life watching this city burning...If you won't let me see the truth then you are No better than Wily !! I'm going now...And I am going to do my Job...it might take a while, but it will be done."

He left not a moment later. And we know our story truly begins…

-----------------------------------------

At Number 7 is Rock at the Races, after meeting Roll and making contact at the Resistance Bar, old Rock has to gain trust with the rest of humanity who see him as a possible spy for Wily.

Armed with a Bonneville Triumph and his Megabuster , Ole Mega battles Sniper Joes and a surprise appearance by the First of Many Robot Masters, Cut Man.

What follows is a high speed chase through downtown as Mega battles the Master with just one arm.

---------------------------------------------

Number 6 and 5: Cut Man and Megaman's Duels (Ep 8-9 The Song of Cut man)

Mega's first duel with the Robot Masters was a long and drawn out battle between one of the Two most popular Bosses in the Franchise.

Cut Man is funny, terrifying and a well deserved first battle for Mega to cut loose.

The fact the Mega's rendition of the classic 90s Opening played as they were both smiling was the icing on the cake, they were just two kids having fun.

And It felt great.

-------------------------------------------------------

Number 4: Dr. Light's Storytime (Ep 2 Storyline Megaman.)

Dr. Thomas Light has had it rough, he's already lost his first son Protoman to the War against Wily and does not wish to make that mistake again.

The Story of Protoman , told in a beautifully animated flashback. The Story of Protoman is a beautiful and tragic tale that shows that Light has already lost so much already.

Hero's have already tried and failed once. And the Looming spectre of failure hangs over everyone.

And this warning is always reminded about "The Death of Protoman" lingers over everyone.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Number 3: The Grave of Protoman (Episode 10: My Father's Son)

This one hurt long time Protomen fans and Newcomers alike, We were told just how powerful and awesome Protoman was but we never realized just how much of an impact he had on the city until we saw his Grave.

"Hope Rides Alone" Never have such a cold line been echoed in a shrine of Valor and remembrance.

-----------------------------------------------

Number 2: Mega Man abandon's Mankind (Ep 12 : The Truth)

--------------------------------------

Number 1: The Duel (Ep 11: Hope Rides Alone)

Yeah you all saw this coming.

The Big Duel with a revealed to be alive Protoman as The Son's of Fate Play.

It was awesome, it was heartbreaking, and we don't know if Proto really died at the end because who kills the final boss at the end of the First Season..

Oh my… I'm still choked up about it…

Omake: Power, Wisdom, Courage, and Mickey. Disney and The Legend of Zelda
Omake: Power, Wisdom, Courage, and Mickey. Disney and The Legend of Zelda

From a golden cartridge set for the NES in 1987, to the new Discs used in today's home consoles, The Legend of Zelda was, and still is, one of Nintendo's greatest franchises and stories ever created. Many a child and teen (and perhaps even adults) have experienced the thrill of discovery and adventure that the game provided, the challenge of puzzles to be solved, and the charm of the world of Hyrule as every incarnation showed a bit more of the story, a small nugget of information that once more added another layer to the rich tapestry that showed a rich history.

It was no surprise then when Disney executives, Michael Eisner in particular (who had negotiated the deal for using Nintendo characters from Hiroshi Yamaguchi) saw the potential that such a series could have, and greenlit the project, and from there, the rest is history. The success of the cartoon spiralled into every game getting it's own variation, but it can all be traced down to the original 2 season run of the Legend of Zelda, based on the original game.

A small summary is included.
---------------------------------------
The Legend of Zelda

Season 1: A Hero Rises

The story begins in a small village, where we are introduced to Link, a young man who is skipping his morning chores in order to practice swordsmanship when he is found by his grandfather. Through the first episode we are introduced to the sleepy village, Link's grandfather, a former swordsman who promises that Link will have his sword when ready, and Impa, Princess Zelda's attendant who is saved by Link and told about the plight of the Princess, and how Ganon has taken over the Kingdom.

The call to adventure is taken after the entire village is attacked by Moblins, leading to Link deciding to take the quest in order to protect his village and save the Princess. Yet what truly sells the episode's end is when his grandfather finds him just as he sneaks out. No words are said, until in the end he takes his sword, hands it to Link, and just says the iconic words:

"It's dangerous to go alone. Take this."

The following episodes are a mix of comedy and adventure, as Link is forced to admit he is lost, saves merchants merchant and helps villagers with their problems, managing to fight the new enemies around the land of Hyrule. Indeed, the strength of many odf the episodes is the history found around the many places Link travels through, as well as the clues he finds that lead him to the Triforceof Wisdom.

Overall, Season 1 can be said to be the lighthearted and goofy part of the journey, where Link does the most exploring and where he meets the most people. The dungeonos are an adventure, and the desing and animation made it a real treat to enjoy.

Season 2: A Villain Emerges

The story continued with Link finding another dungeon and managing to conquer it, defeating tha boss and getting another shard of the Triforce, yet at the end of the first episode we are introduced to Ganon (Who will become a recurring character through the season) who upon hearing of Link's accomplishments decides to improve upon his troops (the scene where we see how Moblins are upgraded, Lynels are recruited, and Dark Knuts are subverted are classics!).

Link is then harried in everyone of the travels, we see now Link, a seasoned warrior, who has to keep on fighting again and again. Who can forget the episode where Link is chased again and again by unceasing Dark Knuts, who harry him until he can no longer go on. Yet, we are then introduced to one of the most interesting characters there is.

A renegade moblin.

This Moblin is old by his race standards, yet it's because of that that he wishes to just live in peace, why he abandoned the war and Ganon, and why he saved Link in the end, as he sees no purpose in just fighting more and more. This is one of the most engaging characters in the series, who becomes a sort of mentor to Link for many episodes in the season, right until his final sacrifice as he stays behind to delay the Lynels as Link escapes.

The season was more serious than the last one, taking a more mature bent, yet still keeping with the fantasy and adventure them of the franchise. Just like the videogame, the story shows a young man who grew in strength and fortitude to triumphed over the ultimate evil.
---------------------------------------
The game was revolutionary for it's time, the animation was top notch, and opened the doors for further animation for other videogame properties, such as Metroid, Mario, and of course, the further Zelda games.

A.N: Inspired by the Megaman idea for a show. I think that the Legend of Zelda could be made to work, and deserves much better than what it got. I'm a big Zelda fan, and I want to see us make series for this game.

So, @Slynnwen, is it any good?

“Another Way To Stay, Part 2”
Vote's been closed, here's the nigh unanimous winner!
The Winning Vote said:
-[X] Seven Seas Lagoon. This location is extremely close to the Magic Kingdom, and has easy waterfront access in addition to being on the monorail line. Huge boost to Magic Kingdom park draw.
--[X] Huge: 3000 CP, must have at least 1500 points of room, but no more than 2300. 20 groundbreaking, 30 construction.

Jerry Allison claps his hands. "Excellent, excellent. Now, I know that there were plans to have a hotel themed around each of the lands near the Magic Kingdom, with the Polynesian and the Contemporary matching Adventureland and Tomorrowland respectively. To that end, I've got several proposals here based on the remaining lands, although of course, if you had a different idea in mind?"

-[] Main Street USA: A hotel that would be based on older American design, with beautiful red roofs on white exteriors (This is the Grand Floridian option).

-[] Liberty Square: A neo-classical hotel, based on the nation's capital. Americana banners would be draped over most available areas, and a dome over the lobby would feature a scene of the flag flying as in "Star Spangled Banner."

-[] Liberty Square 2.0: A brick manor style, that matches the Haunted Mansion or most old town halls. Americana banners would be draped over most available areas, with wrought iron fencing.

-[] Frontierland: It's the Fort Wilderness Lodge. Think gigantic log cabin. This would probably be better on Bay Lake, near the Fort Wilderness Campgrounds.

-[] Fantasyland: An enchanted castle, to mirror the one in the park. Faux-stone would give the appearance of a real ancient castle, with fake torches completing the feel. The lobby would include thrones to pose for pictures on, with Disney characters occasionally stopping by to pose.

-[] Write-In.

Jerry nods. "Of course, the location also provides some unique opportunities. You're already on the monorail line, of course, but you could have a marina as well."

You hum a bit. "Boat connection to the Magic Kingdom, as well. And I was wondering about a conference center that was offset from the hotel proper."

Jerry scribbles down some notes. "Those are both doable, easily. Could even set up a connection service to the golf course if you wanted."

-[] Monorail Station: No reason not to, every reason to do so. +5 Board Approval.

-[] Marina: A place to rent boats and take them out on the lagoon. Good fun, if expensive. -5 Board Approval
--[] Boat Connection: The board will complain about them already having the monorail and buses, but more ways to reach the park can't hurt. -5 Board Approval

-[] Offset Conference Center: A huge draw for the business crowd, this would let you largely ignore conference demands inside the hotel. Bit hard to justify the extra expense, though. -10 Board Approval

-[] Golf Connection: A simple set up to make getting to the links easier. It's a bit more to implement, but could really add that extra oomph to the hotel. -5 Board Approval

You and Jerry look up from the map, you stretching and hearing a slight crack as you do so. It feels like the meeting has been going on for weeks at this point.

Of course, Jerry chooses that moment to speak up. "And now we just need to discuss what you actually want from the hotel."

If you let out a groan at that, Jerry is polite enough not to mention it.

-[] Refer to This post please, anything marked out for a deluxe resort and the size options relating to the huge hotel. I'm on tablet and can't easily copy paste all the relevant bits.

As you walk back from your meeting on the hotel, your secretary stops you for a moment. "Mr. Eisner? There's a letter on your desk, from a Bob Ebeling at NASA. It seemed important, you should probably check it out."

You head into your office and take a look at the letter.

To the esteemed Mr. Eisner,

As much as it pains me to have to write this letter, my conscience will not rest until I offer my most sincere apologies for the deception I committed against your company, and also explain to you present circumstances at NASA. During their recent visit to the vehicle assembly building, your imagineers were not at fault for the component that "broke." Rather, I, with the aid of my fellows, sabotaged a component that we knew could be replaced cheaply (but not quickly) in order to delay the launch of the Challenger. This is because the management here was pressing for a launch during the recent Florida cold snap, which we believe would have run into a fatal defect on the shuttle, killing everyone on board. Your teams' presence gave us the perfect cover to stall the launch without alerting management to our own machinations. However, I now believe that we may have inadvertently done more harm than good by doing this. Management has doubled down on unreasonable demands, asking the impossible on shorter deadlines and recklessly ignoring safety concerns. Engineers and assemblers have been asked to work extra hours without break, leading to sloppy errors that go overlooked. The problems of the space shuttle, a vehicle over-promised and under-delivered, become more apparent every day to an increasingly blind group of executives looking only for profit. While you may not be part of the management team here, you currently enjoy an unprecented level of stardom among businessmen and the public alike. I beg of you to raise these concerns before the American public. Your speech on solar power revitalized a dying industry, and I have faith that a similar speech from you could reform this corrupt one. Thank you for your time, and once again, my most sincere apologies about the deception.

With regret and hopeful regards,
Bob Ebeling
The NASA Team

You let out an explosive sigh. You'd love to say that this is above your pay grade, but the newspaper over in the corner talking about how Exxon's assets are being bought up by dozens of other smaller companies seems to indicate that this is what you've signed up for. Hopefully you'll have the time to address this properly next quarter.

AN: Plan votes, please. Vote is open for at least 48 hours. Here's hoping for a return to a more regular update schedule.

Ticket Prices
Ticket Prices: This scale may in fact prove relevant during the recession, so I'm going to put some of the ticket price scale here. This is what you were looking at turn 0, though it hasn't been too relevant since.

0: Free. The board wants to kill you, the public walks up to you crying in the street, which is where you are after getting fired unless you have a serious plan for this.

1: ~$5. You have a problem with park capacity, and there's almost never a reason to go this cheap.

2: ~$10. You have a minor problem with park capacity, and it's hard to justify being this cheap.

3: ~$20. You're currently here. You have a slight issue with park capacity, and there's room to raise the price.

4: ~$40. This, from what little market research you've done, is probably the sweet spot right now, although the recession may change that.

5: ~$80. You're getting pricey at this point. It's worth it, but some people will be turned away.

6: ~$160. You're pricey enough to need to justify it to most people. The word Disney is usually enough, but it's causing some grumbles. (IRL Disney is at the high end of this point)

7: ~$320. You have slight issues with attendance, as only the elite can afford a semi-regular trip to Disney.

8: ~$640. You have issues with attendance. This level means that Disney is almost exclusively the home of the wealthiest, with middle class individuals needing to save years to justify a family trip.

9: ~$1280. You have major issues with attendance, as even some of the wealthier individuals are turned away by the cost.

10: ~$2560. You have crippling issues with attendance, as only the top of the top can afford to frequent the parks. Or contest winners. The board may wish they could charge this, but recognize it isn't wise to try.

*Ticket prices are based on the cost of a one-day park hopper ticket.
