Super Robot Quest G

So, what can we do to help the FRC deal with these bootleg Jackals? I mean, technically the Jackals have made their way into the public service sector (see Anna's informational post), so the police technically have access to similar technology. We can either provide them with more advanced Jackal models or another mech model to mass-produce, but all we'd be doing is accelerating the arms race, and I'm not sure I want to invent a countermeasure for Jackals in the case it's used against us.

Maybe we need to provide the FRC with an AI assistant or locate some cyber-experts to come at the criminals sideways.

"Ahh, no need to worry, Smythe." The source of the voice was the man wearing lieutenant's bars on his digital rank badges – apparently Lieutenant Weller – with hair that had only recently begun to grow back and affecting a somewhat spiky line to it. There was a brash undertone to what was otherwise a steady voice. "We'll take care of it, no problems."

"You say that, sir, but District's got no bloody clue which end is which at times." The more abrasive voice came from Sergeant Vincent Smythe. The older man had blonde hair that seemed on the verge of bleaching into white prematurely, and a prominent scar scratched against his left cheek. "They'll probably keep us here until it's too late to do anything when everything inevitably goes wrong." His face rested on his hand, slouched over on his desk as he was.

The final figure, Sergeant Anya Rodenko, remained quiet – but she seemed to have a calm, unnerving glint to her granite-like eyes as she focused on the briefing slides in front of her. Sasaki had been observing her as well, and as animated as the other two pilots were, the diminutive figure never seemed to make any movement or motion she didn't have to.
So Basarin, for the sake of consistency, we have the full names for Vincent Smythe and Anya Rodenko, but what about the last one, Weller? What's his first name?

I want to be surprised that our Jackals are being stolen but considering everything....

Let's rack some skulls lads.

Honestly a Super AI as support iys a specialty of ours and something only 1 enemy faction has and its one of their best cards.

So it works to help FRC wothout esclating arms race and criminals really cant counter a Super AI monitoring and supporting their enemies.

So it sounds like Westphalia is going with VOTOMs mecha or Heavy Gears. Basically super heavy infantry mecha.

Doesn't sound like they are big enough to be compared to Code Geass Knightmare Frames.
This is now Code Geass. They're fielding Knightmare Frames.
or that they are making something similar to the land spinners from code geas

I admit I have a soft spot for that style of Real Robot mecha. It's got the right mixture of agility and chonkiness, and is overall just a really cool aesthetic. (Which was why I was kind of annoyed when Code Geass ditched that in favor of flying Super Robots in all but name, but that's another story entirely)

I describe them as somewhat short and squat, but in the proud tradition of different anime series having very different size scales, different mecha and Super Robots are going to vary greatly. I will say they're not as small as Steeds or the Scopedog (VOTOMS), which are 3.8m tall (and as you can see in other pictures, the cockpit and the pilot take up about half of the space).

That said - Super Robot Wars has always had a funny disconnect in size differences. There would be times when Mobile Suits (roughly about 18-ish meters tall) will be fighting Aura Battlers (which are comparatively tiny at about 7 meters or so), but aside from size bonuses/penalties in fighting each other, the game and story treats them as on par with each other. Here, I like to explore what that sort of mismatch of technologies would look like, though I won't spend too much time on the details (writing and fun comes first for me here!).

I'll also give a few size comparisons just to help make imagining it easier. Remember that a six-storey building is about 20 meters.

- Mercury V - The close equivalent is more roughly at Great Mazinger's size, at about 22-ish meters. And the kaiju he fights are roughly about the same in height, if not taller, and have even more mass and muscle behind that.

- Valiant - On the opposite end of the scales, Valiant is quite small at around 10m (which is about how tall Kotetsu Jeeg is). Erika is often fighting enemies larger than her in some capacity (such as the Walkers, or the Brute). But the new enemy mecha are a little smaller than her - they're just more numerous.

- Kaus - Among the tallest natural Kausen are Galbinus and Tyrannous. I describe them as really tall, barring any combiner, and they stand at around 18 m tall (give or take extra bits from their alt-forms). Unless they combine, it's a safe bet that all other Kaus are almost as tall, or just smaller than either of them.

- DFRI - It will naturally vary. Beowulf on its lonesome is only a little taller than Valiant, and the Falcon doesn't actually contribute to height so much. But as the Timberwolf, and later as Beowulf Fenrir, it comes closer to Galbinus's height. Ichiro is taller than Core Beowulf, though he doesn't naturally reach Galbinus's height - the Buster Pack does help him get there, though.

No one is as tall as Daitarn 3 or Ideon yet, which I think everyone in universe is grateful for at the moment.

I could go on, but hopefully that does give a rough idea.

The funniest thing is still Chirico manhandling a Space Monster and then killing it with a single pistol shot.

Given these things absolutely dwarf Gunbuster--which is itself very chonky even by Super Robot Standards, it's all the more hilarious.

That pistol could dynamic kill anything under the sun.

"Grand Zamboa? Meh, it's still a mech, I can grapple it."

(Something only slightly larger than a human proceeds to chokeslam a supergalaxy sized mech into a convienent rock face, an normal dude pops out of it and shoots, the entire mech violently explodes)

Can we finally research the friction reducing chemical? It'd be the exact thing that'd help the general mass produced friendlies much better handle the enemies outspeeding and out-reacting them without compromising special tech dissemination.

I may be misremembering but didn't we find out it was actually kaiju blood?
No, the kaiju blood was residue at the scene of an abandoned Westphalian arms trade, which indicated that the separatists and Sheol were doing business.

We haven't really delved into that friction-reducing chemical, other than the Duo finding it in the salvage of one of the Westphalian mechs and identifying its usage. We still don't know what it's made of or how to recreate it.

They had it long before they conducted the arms trade with the Kaijus too given the first boss gunship had it.

We don't know what it is but it can let giant vehicles move far faster than they should attack wise and it's probably what the spider mech and the modified Boeing mech used to move as fast as they did.

honestly I forgot about that so didnt put in my plan. Probably something for next turn if we actions free.
yea, same here. Lets make a note about it for next plan and include it. It's been years in verse since and who knows what we might unlock after we research that chemical. Honestly it might take a full court press of multiple people to figure it out.

honesrly deoending on what that friction effects it might be like out anti grav a basic but useful thing all around for a super robo.

Hell I wouldnt mind anti grav to both mercury and valiant its an easy uograde for both of them.

I mean, technically, we already have Patlabor, given that the police are already making use of Jackals.

From the Informational post:
Director, I promise you that you're going to see more variations of this come up. Lone Star has already started making variants specifically for the FRC, and they're already starting to experiment with Variable Configuration for firefighting trucks and ambulances. They already made a law enforcement specific version (the sirens and lights are on the shoulders now! Adorable!). But I'd also expect the less savory criminal types to try and get their hands on some too - and given how much demand for it there is, you can bet the Westphalians will grab their own. Only a matter of time.

In short: one constant thought going through my head was that you all have spawned a slightly alternate version setup for Patlabor, so enjoy that.

It'll just be a matter of upgrading their equipment to keep them ahead of the criminals, and how we go about it.
