Likely nothing that heavy, that's Imperial Guard field kit. Ever try to get a combat servator through a door with a heavy bolter for an arm? Big claws, blades, heavy stubbers and boltguns, chainswords, grenade launchers, the classics. Think Special Weapons instead of Heavy Weapons lol.
Well, a bolter and a chainsword is pretty much what every Marine worth his salt carries into centuries of battle, so... I'm very OK with that.
We don't want servitors.

We absolutely do not want to let @open_sketch write servitors. Not up close. Not properly. There's a reason that most Imperial citizens do their best to ignore them in fluff that's nowhere near as well written and humanising as this story.
They're meat stitched together from parts grown in vats and a brain that's mostly computer. It's a literal meat-machine about as smart as an average dog. The whole "grimdark" thing about people being turned into them is for super-tech-hereteks, not the normal procedure. And stuff about 'personality retention' is just when the person maintaining them does a hackjob leading to glitches.
While many of these programmable cybernetic slaves are genetically-engineered, vat-grown sub-human clones or replicae created by the Adeptus Mechanicus from human genomes who have their bionic implants installed after "birth," others were once truly human. These Servitors were usually criminals who fell afoul of Imperial Law, particularly a person who has offended or damaged the Adeptus Mechanicus in some fashion.
Servitors are generally mindless, semi-organic robots, possessing only the most basic of instincts, though some are fully capable of speech if such functions and knowledge are programmed into them. Their brains are programmed to perform only the task they were designed for, whether that be maintenance, construction, or even warfare.

The altered and fragmented brain of a Servitor functions poorly unless constantly supervised. Most will eventually go into a state of mindlock, babbling incoherent nonsense as the Servitor tries to assert some form of control over its functions.
You're exaggerating the squick. There is squick, not saying it isn't fucked up, but not that bad.
Thanks, you just created servitor dogs. The suffering of billions of cute canines is now all your fault.
They already had Cherubim: Servitor Babies. Dogs were just the next 'logical step'. They couldn't get cats, the Imperial Navy has its traditions.

Trust me, when I write human <-> eldar relations, you will know.

Because there will be a content warning.
But will there be
ear molesting?

Okay seriously, it seems our choices are:
PDF troops
-slow?, lots of people, might discover our eldar companion, sending lots of mooks to their death, the opposite of subtle
+easy to get, unlikely gangs will fuck with such a big group

Servitors
-going to have a very not-fun time of existential horror IC and possibly OOC as the grim nature of servitors is driven home, going to struggle with heavy terrain
+No witnesses, probably pretty good in combat without the unwieldiness of a PDF platoon. Psychological advantage, because who wants to fight the murdercyborgs?

Hiring bounty hunters/small elites
-we'd have to spend time and effort finding them, this might be time sensitive, as high-quality mooks more likely to discover our eldar companion's nature
+keeps group small and able to move quickly, probably pretty badass, potentially familair with underhive and able to act as guides, potential recruits for retinue later?

Just go alone, don't overcomplicate it
-Just four people, only two dedicated combatant in an underhive feels very undergunned to me, will need to rely on stealth
+What was originally intended by the Gm so it's probably not a trap option, stealthy, doesn't overcomplicate things needlessly

That is canon, however.

This is speculation, but I somewhat suspect that open_sketch has opinions on the mass production, enslavement and mistreatment of what is designated as an inferior and subhuman population.

Sarcasm. It doesn't really convey well in text, I'm sorry.

Edit: Sarcasm isn't quite the right word. Hyperbole? I am deathly afraid of dogs; and while I would never wish bad things on a live one, barring it attacking me, I have no problem exaggerating my dislike of them for comedic effect. This, apparently, fell flat.

@Swedish15

Randomly, I sympathize; I have a loved one who's in a similar place due to PTSD and lingering medical issues from a random dog attack.

Our society tends to assume that dogs are an unambiguous positive, that increasing everyone's exposure to dogs is a zero-cost thing, and that everyone should be expected to love and approve of them.

And yet dogs are, when you get down to it, nonsapient animals. They act on instinct. They can cause considerable harm to humans, and cannot be expected to restrain themselves without intensive training. And sometimes this harm is lasting and protracted and cannot be easily restored or made good.

But because of the cultural value that "dogs are just plain good," there's an expectation that people who are afraid or traumatized or hurt by dogs' presence will silence themselves.

...

Sorry for the tangent everyone.

Okay, so we need something to haul stuff, we need a decent amount of bribes, and potentially we need more than just Charitina and Praxis. We also need to have backup prepped.

...is there any way we could setup, like, basically a panic button?

In all seriousness, Cyber Mastiffs would be an ideal choice of additional forces since they are; in possession of highly potent olfactory sensors, the physical dimensions of a hunting dog (ideal for the cramped conditions of an underhive), and depending on the model are equipped with jaws that can tear off the arm of an Ogryn (who are tough enough to kill Orks by headbutting them) and up to lasgun turrets.

While comms might be difficult, @open_sketch , is there any way to consistently send a signal even to those not in the depths of the hive? I was thinking of a literal panic button sort of deal. Just 'a signal at all on this frequency/etc means trouble' if we can't do anything more detailed?

...though, that also gives me ideas. Imagine morse-code with panic signals. :p

Nothing terribly consistent, except maybe handing Bookter your webway iphone so Araleth can call him. But that'll involve looping Bookter in on the details of your Eldar friend. Dude has rolled with everything Praxis ever did. around him, but who knows?

(aka, a charm roll may be in order)

Funnily enough, that's actually close to my own headcanon about the AdMech, though I've always drawn more on "embracing the ritualized aesthetics of science and high technology while rejecting the actual process" as the point of similarity between them and the tech-bro crowd.
Now I'm thinking of AdMech as Hipsters - it fits surprisingly well, both deal in their position from a high ground of greater insight they do not really possess i.e. fake intellectuals.
The difference is that AdMech also have a lot of real skill, even if half of it is rote.

At the same time, it might be worth the risk, because the worst thing we can be down there is cut off from everyone else.

...so, who's in favor of charming Bookter? Have him be mission control... and then figure out what our backup extraction plan should be?

Can we use something that's usually not a road? Abandoned sewers? Maintenance shafts? It is not a good extraction plan, but barring a transporter or a web way it is the sole thing I can think off.

[X] Plan: Always have three ways out
-[X] Give Bookter the Webway device, and talk to him about who it is. Have him set himself up as mission control, set the thing on silent if possible, and keep in at least occasional contact. Convince him that this is on the up and up. You're an Inquisitor, and it's fine, it's all fine.
-[X] Find and pick out a small squad, perhaps five or six, PDF/ex-PDF/Mercs, using your contacts and information to come up with a small but skilled team. One briefed on just enough to do their jobs without any awkward questions if they have to extract an eldar.
-[X] Talk to his mother. Dress well, be as charming as possible and act as some somewhat unspecified authority, and inquire as to what he's like, his habits, tell her about the 'expedition' he's going on, and reveal--if needed--the Inquisitorial badge, but without trying to panic her. Learn everything you need to know to, hopefully, figure out what he'll do and how to get him to go along with you.
-[X] Look up and research fast ways in and out of the depths of the hive. Air-shafts, abandoned sewers, maintenance tunnels. You'll need them to get out if all goes wrong, and the mercenary squad'll need to find the nearest one to you if they want to rapidly respond to the situation.
-[X] Grab a nonlethal weapon or two, in case you have to put down your target. Or at least something with a stun setting. Give it to Charitina or Araleth, because they're both better than you at this.
-[X] Have Dahlia look over the Mercs, try to feel whether she notices any bad vibes about them, psychically speaking, etc, etc. You'll be checking into them carefully anyways, but it might help... and just as importantly, it'll let Dahlia feel like she's contributing without her actually being in harm's way because she's a young girl and you actually had a small nightmare about the Juicers kidnapping her to sell her off.

How about this? Any obvious problems, @open_sketch ? As in, things that Praxis would know wouldn't work or are stupid?

We still need to figure out a way to get the target on our side. We can't simply kidnap them. We rely on them looking positively towards us to get something done.

I don't know if that's something to really plan for? I mean, I guess we could go talk to his mother to learn things to, like, convince him? But beyond that we'll have to play it by ear.

...actually, talking to his Mom wouldn't be a bad idea. Could she keep the fact that we're an Inquisitor secret? I mean, she has to be pretty discreet, and Araleth describes her as one of the "least objectionable" people among her particular class/location/etc, and they're an eldar, so it's not like they're given to pointlessly flattering humans. So, thoughts on something like that?

-[x] Requisition a pack of Cybermastiffs + their handler from local Arbites
-[x] Requisition a squad of Arbites with Concussion Carbines
-[x] Send Bookter to find any and all maps of the underhive, as recent & accurate as feasible.
-[x] Take neither.
-[x] Bring Marvel Ann

For those who are wondering: Concussion Carbine - Warhammer 40k - Lexicanum

I think it would be a neat idea.
