Hard to argue against producing a ship as multi talented as the century class is.

Invisitext (spoilered just in case, it's probably not an issue but hey).
For the cost of one ship and six hundred lives, the Century destroyed five Jem'hadar attack ships, a Cardassian Galor, and three top-of-the-line battleships that together outmassed her by six times over. By occupying a substantial part of Gul Dukat's ambush of the charging Federation Fleet, the Century allowed the fleets to fully engage and minimise the Dominion's advantages in numbers. The arrival of Klingon reinforcements around twenty minutes later would signal the end of the engagement and a general disintegration of the Dominion battleline.
Okay yeah I missed that. It's only a single line in the whole certification though, but it looks like the small labs didn't get anything more either.
If we're doing enterprise era ships next, what does that mean if we make a ship that has a massive impact, is this an opportunity to derail the timeline?
Well. This thing certainly made an impact- the class was flawed in its initial production run, but performed well enough despite that to get the problems fixed and a huge run of ships produced. The Century might not have matched the Excelsior in number, but in terms of pure mass we probably at least equalled their production. The second tranche of production standardising prototype systems and the subsequent refit of more ablative armor to the design turned the Century into one of Starfleet's main heavy cruiser designs in the New Fleet Program of 2384, with over thirty ships being constructed over the next twenty-five years. Much of this can be attributed to the performance of the class's namesake in Operation Return, which left an indelible mark on the psyche of Starfleet Command and incentivised them to push past its initial flaws and see the ship for what it could be.
Step two, don't let Archer take his ship out of drydock until it's actually finished.
Step three, replace Archer with someone sane.
Nonsense. Sticking prototypes on full ships to test them out is a wonderful tradition with no drawbacks!Step Four, convince Starfleet Command to create more small scale experimental tests for various technologies...

(Or more realistically, they are tested in small scale first, but the problems we ran into are the sorts that can only be uncovered in full builds.)
Can anyone explain what this means, please?Invisitext (spoilered just in case, it's probably not an issue but hey).
I'm kinda curious what sort of reputation the Century ended up getting, tbh. It's just such an over-engineered monstrosity of a ship, I can't imagine the other species in Trek not having strong opinions on it.
Literally everyone else: You're taking the piss, right? You Feddies still claim you 'don't build dedicated warships', and that the Defiant was 'an emergency response to the Borg that won't happen again', but the Galaxy was already a (deity-or-cultural-equivalent)-damned battleship that you had the sheer unmitigated gall to call a 'heavy exploration cruiser', and then you build this?I'm kinda curious what sort of reputation the Century ended up getting, tbh. 'Sounds like a skill issue to me!'Literally everyone else: You're taking the piss, right? "Yes. Now, would you like a glass of root beer?"Literally everyone else: You're taking the piss, right? Cardassians clenched their cheeks while the Romulans tried to act like they figured out all it's weaknesses.
This quest is ending and being replaced by one set during the era of Star Trek: Enterprise. The Sphere Builders are enemies from that show's third season who are capable of some level of time travel.
Ohhhh, thanks! The main antagonists of Enterprise were the sphere builders who were being supported by a faction far in the future to ensure the Federation never becomes a threat to them in the future.
A thought for the next quest: maybe we could have an upgrade portion in between ship designs? Where we can argue and vote over building up Star Fleet facilities to help with the designs or rolls?
