So we going to get to make the Cerritos next?

"....radical new design philosophy where instead of stuff not hitting the hull, you let stuff hit the hull and bounce off..."
Design styling for that is Galaxy era, and if it's been in service for a very long time by the 2380s then it's probably only slightly post Ambassador. Which means we've already moved past its design era and it is in service.

Edit: Sovereign, and Nova would be the next ones in the OTL. With Norway and Akira possibilities as they're part of the intermediate/Dominion War period we're approaching the end of, and Prometheus being just a little further out. Prometheus is probably going to be pushed back further due to the success of the Ushaan.

[X] USS Voyager. These ships will be some of the furthest from Federation space, making discoveries to their name.

The fun option. Not the right option, but it's the one I'm picking.

Prometheus and Akira were both design options we could've taken instead of the Intrepid.

To be honest having a limited top speed where going faster makes the warpcore break is a feature for me, not a flaw.

We don't want any lizard babies.

Having the extra large replicator means that what ever ship gets flung to the delta quadrant isn't going to come back nearly as to spec as voyager did.

Yes, but in Canon the Akira slightly predates the Intrepid and the Prometheus significantly postdates it. So the Akira may no longer be an option, which would be sad, but Prometheus should still be available and the Nova and Sovereign would be likely candidates as well.

You can largely clump Starfleet designs into 7 design groups:
Circumferential - tubular warp Nacelles (NX-01, Deadelus, Constitution)
Linear - rectangular warp Nacelles (Constitution-refit/Enterprise-class, Miranda, Constellation)
Linear+ - rectangular, but with more rounded corners (Excelsior and Centaur)
Intermediate - early short and fat Nacelles (Ambassador)
The Great Peace - refined short and fat, now with a taper (Nebula, Galaxy, California)
The Borg Scare - leaner, meaner, smaller, back to more rectangular Nacelles (Saber, Defiant, Norway, Akira, Steamrunner, Intrepid)
Dominion War lessons - Nova, Sovereign and Prometheus.

Steamrunner, Norway and Defiant appear like earlier Borg scare designs because they share similar bussard collectors and some other minor details with the Galaxy or "Great Peace" types. Saber and Akira begin a stronger transition away from the Great Peace types and Intrepid is a clear departure. The there is a very clear jump to the post Dominion War designs with the Sovereign and Nova and then Prometheus builds on that.

We joked about the Prometheus class being stupid earlier and it is, but one ship splitting into three is kind of badass. If it is still an option and we take it, we should make it even more voltron than it is in the show. Take some inspiration from the Xindi space station in that one episode of enterprise, the one where its all a bunch of small circular ships that attach together and form into some sort of space station.

When we started this run of ships it said that after 2 projects we would do a capital, which I assume is Sovereign.

[X] USS Endeavour. Exploration can sometimes be challenging, but the rewards are worth the effort.

"The new school of starship design strays further and further from Federation principles, giving us an obscene merger of saucer section and engineering section! No more. With the California-class, we bring a new meaning to removing the neck. You want to go from the saucer to engineering? Go suck a warp coil.

We have bigger and bolder ideas coming in future designs, in which saucer sections and engineering sections will be in different quadrants..."

What if in future prometheus style ships we use the aeroshuttle concept for the parasite warships? Base the parasites on the patched up defients.

Suliban cell ships. It also depends on how large we want to make the thing, unless each individual ship is little more than a Runabout the more you pack in the final form the larger it's got to be.

That would make sense, Akira - > Intrepid - > Sovereign would basically the OTL timeline. Not sure how @Sayle is balancing the timeline, but picking the Prometheus might cause us to miss out on the Sovereign because the Prometheus was a long project and launched after the Sovereign. But doing the Intrepid and Akira would put us in the right spot to do the Sovereign.

So the Odyssey class actually does this. It had an Aquarius class escort that docks down in the engineering hull where the Hangar would be on the Constitution or Sovereign of classes. The Aquarius being a successor type to the Defiant class.

Edit: the Odyssey is the flagship class after the Sovereign class. The U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-F is an Odyssey class.
