We could just go ALL THE SCIENCE.

@Sayle, what's the difference in utility between an aeroshuttle and the shuttles it looks like we're already loaded up with?

The Aeroshuttle is basically a runabout, which is more a starship in its own right than a shuttle is. Runabouts are big.

In canon the aeroshuttle is a gimmick that gets used about as often as Voyager's ability to land on planets, so, y'know

Wrong! Voyager lands on a planet at least twice, but the aeroshuttle is never mentioned. XD

Hm, anyone have any idea what that checkered rectangle below the warp transfer conduit is supposed to be? I'd almost guess a holodeck, but that thing is occupying at least two decks worth of space.

Holodecks are surprisingly tall, even on TNG.

This would be my choice. Can't believe I missed the other vote! Sheesh, there was only a three hour window between the end of the moratorium and the vote being closed.

I feel like people suggesting doubling up on labs and the computer core are forgetting half of what this ship is meant to be it's a Long Range science ship.

I'd really like the shuttle because it gives this ship something others don't have. Most federation ships can fill in for science ships in a pinch, but this will be the one you call if you have to insert a larger science team on planet.

That chosen, we still need labs. And range is probably right for the last option, because it's part of our specifications.

Something like this.

Almost a non-question; we've been aiming for the gelpacks this entire time.

Aeroshuttle could be cool, but looking at the layout and from my reading, this and vote #2 would basically be our primary chances for true, dedicated science laboratories? I don't want to pass up that opportunity on our very first Science Ship project.

Looks like we've already got a pretty decent-sized cargo bay, but that replicator... that's a big shiny. Extra cargo would also help our operational range.
[ ] 3: Secondary Computer Core
[ ] 3: Antimatter Pods
This is the really tough choice for me. It looks like we've got five antimatter pods already installed, from the usual four in our previous designs. Combined with our prototype deflectors and nacelles, we might shoot past the ever-quotable "5-year mission" by a decent margin, but who knows when it comes to Yoyodyne...

Additional computer core also sounds good, but maybe that would be better if we go for the isolinear chips? Unsure.
Aerowhatnow?

*Googles*

The fuck?
I think that's the reaction most everyone has to learning about Voyager's Aeroshuttle. :V

Voyager had the aeroshuttle so I would assume it had lab in 2, I think the only reason we have slot 3 is the longer Hull.

If we take one lab I'm fairly sure we're as good as the canon intrepid at science.

FOR SCIENCE! You said no to MOAR DAKKA with the explanation its a SCIENCE ship! So by that logic lets get all the SCIENCE as clearly it has not enough SCIENCE if we can still take more of it!
