The empire systematically bent every company able to produce war material over a barrel without lube unless they were full on board with the sith empire train.
We don't need to be all dooming it won't really be fun for the quest if this becomes just tie fighter production simulator, so can imagine that it will not be as bad as you think it will be.

Plus such a thing is over a decade away from now in quest. The Clone Wars won't start for a decade if we follow the OTL, and it took a while for the Empire after its formation to really start trying to bend those companies.

And the empire still wants a economy that they can take money out of whenever they want a new run of Corvettes or whatever brainworm they are infected with for that morning.

"Want more bigger ship."
"Bigger ship more good."

Most likely the Empire will just ignore our little backwater since we don't have anything impressive enough for an important official to take notice. Even if we get lucky, we're not gonna be a Kuat Drive Yards.

We may want to ignore doing any sort of fightercraft then. Given the way they dealt with the possibility of possible fightercraft threats in legends by, I think pretty much nationalizing all fightercraft production at some point…

At least this will be far in the future in quest. I mean, the dice could go crazy and give the incumbent a batnat hundred and dear palps a 1. :V

It's too bad Gram Bell Iblis isn't running for Supreme Chancellor, he'd have gotten my vote on the spot, just so I could see the fireworks.

Let's see who becomes Supreme Chancellor!

Ainlee Teem 96 + 25 = 121
Bail Antilles 26 + 72 = 98
Finis Valorum 45 + 17 = 62*
I used only the second number because I rolled with d100 instead of d10, as supposed!
Sheev Palpatine 21 + 30 = 51

Just posting the actual plan, since the tally is still keeping up its shenangians:

[] Plan Utility And Upkeep
-[][Design][1B] Upkeep
-[][Design][1B] Plans for a Utility Craft
-[][Research][1B] Upkeep
-[][Research][2B] Basic Shielding
-[][Production][1B] Upkeep

So what kind of utility craft should we make then?
I remember pitching we base it on the space pods from gundam both because that would be useful in starports and because it can help our own production capcity.

This does sound like a good baseline design to work off of. Perhaps also using it as a transport for astromechs, who can handle the more precise parts of the job that the bigger manipulators of the utility craft itself can't.

Could add something like the benchs on little bird helicopters to it so droids or workers in space suits can ride along.

huh, I've never watched gundam but that's basically what I was imagining anyway.

I'm not sure if that's viable considering the way starships work. Secure harnesses would be able to keep people in their seats, but it still leaves them at greater risk of harmful G forces, since they're on the edges of the utility craft and thus will experience much worse inertial force than the inside crew when it makes a turn. If it always goes very slow then this is fine, but space is big, so you'll want to get a move on if you need to go from place to place to do your job. This isn't a concern with droids though, naturally.

So I just found out... twin ion engines are already in production even if the TIE fighters aren't. They are a pretty mature technology actually.

That mod would be for space port and shipyard models aka the ones that can't risk going fast.

Huh. Well it looks like this is going to become a complete mess because I'm pretty sure everyone just realised that the Senate's authority and legitimacy literally goes to the highest bidder now, no matter the legal way of things should be or all those other 'niceties'. Gonna be real interesting seeing what the result for Naboo is, because this is one of the outcomes where the canon battle that happens should still occur in some form because Qui-Gon Jinn is definitely not going to accept this Senate telling him to 'ignore' the situation.

Which means we probably should end up in a situation (if the Force's guidance is anything like the canon path) where we've got a Naboo that liberated itself, Palpatine pissed because something went wrong which meant that the Senate's view on him flipped from 'victim wishing for the best outcome' to 'political creature taking advantage of his planet's weakness in an attempt to progress his status', and then there's a Senate which is completely ignoring all the wrecked battledroids, war vehicles and warship wreckage scattered all over Naboo proving that the Trade Federation actually invaded and attempted to conquer an independent and Senate recognised planet.

The CIS is going to be fascinating going forwards.

Not ignoring but definitely slowballing it. If the Senate could make it go away they would, but Corellia is still a major power in the Core and will probably be willing to pay the price to make something stick in the end.

Even if that price turns out to be "I have no idea how those worlds managed to afford to double the size of their System Defense Forces, officers" as Jedi shake their heads sadly behind them. Or the more direct route of hiring out their own military, one step removed, as "security contractors" at appallingly low rates to those with similar contracts to Naboo and wish to get out of them early.

We might still end up with the clone wars but with Palpatine as the shadow leader/backer of the separatists using them with the very real goal of winning the clone wars. Which means there may not be much of a clone army for the republic to use when the time comes.

I'd hope not because if the Separatists weren't being held back by Palpatine then they would have crushed the Republic even with the clone army.

if it does happen then I'd imagine if we stay with the Republic with so many companies switching sides we could likely get government backing just for being one of the ship producers that sided with them. although it would likely only be minor because they'll have bigger shipyards. if we side with the Separatists... we're going to get eaten by one of the megacorps, I can't see any other way that would go down.
