It would depend on how long the crew is going to stay in the craft, for short times it is not a problem but longer stays maybe an issue, still probably better than a tie in comfort.
they definitely shouldn't be staying in the utility craft for a long time, these are single person crafts that are used to perform labor around stations. that'll probably mostly be maintenance, but they'll also see use in shipyards like ours putting the ships together or performing repairs.

I wouldn't imagine that taking a long time, but I guess it's really just what the companies shifts are like.

Depending on the species and the company, you should expect shifts between 8 and 16 hours.

Gotta grab the sphere, eventually we'll get our Lost in Space / Backstreet Boys / Umbaran Starfighter.

We might have to sacrifice some cost savings for good climate control and a comfy seat. They'll do whatever tie pilots do when nature calls so we may want to spring for a bubble that can tint (to make operating in direct sunlight easier).

With the way he is acting I expect him to simply sell off any GOOD designs or techs we develop for quick cash ignoring us and potential future profits for short term gain.

Wow those are some good rolls! Way above average except for the equipment roll. Honestly some luck could not have come at a better spot, since we are not exactly doing fine since we lost the Aurec deal.
 
Btw @Jax , do we get some bonuses for future research based on what related tech we have researched before? For example, I'd imagine having the autoblaster tech should make it easier to research the inproved blasters or the laser?

In the near term, various packages for our new chaingun-analogue and I remain wishing to do a cheap and dirty aircraft for planetary defense now that it is known that the Judicial Forces can't be bothered to actually defend you.

I mean in how we should handle being forced into one of them, and sounds like a good idea.
 
Obviously but how much should we get close to them and how much should we try to also go for other contracts or just the open market because reputation is a big deal in the ship market.
Don't try and dabble in politics would be my suggestion. You aren't going to manage to steal a decent market share nor are we in a secure position to be sure who our overlord may be. So, simply take what contracts the occupier gives and nothing more.

Eh, while I can see the value of trying to remain apolitical, the Empire's whole human supremacy thing will not mesh well with our current, highly diverse company. So if we get that far in the timeline, we may have to start choosing sides.
