I'm hoping this is something about the experimenters and not just supersoldier stuff

OK I guess we're talking to him then!

Well looks like no matter what we're doing Amy is coming down to play, I really hope that her condition decides to play nice today because I want to see Khan try his "superior man" thing in the face of a transhuman demigod (preferably with full late crusade panoply).

Okay!

I want two rolls

3d20, diff 2, to beam the security folks down in accurate positions.

2d20, diff 2, to get Khan a talking, using Janeway's diplomacy.

And I want compliments, give me compliments.

Please take only the first 3 for the security roll, I don't know how to use the forum :(

Lol, I thought you wanted compliments for Kahn for the diplomacy and I couldn't think of anything nice to say about that piece of shit.

Your writing is dead good, innit. I've read a whole bunch of your quests and fiction and really enjoyed it, so thanks! I've particularly liked Pax; To burn, vent, or take as prize; Jasmine Starr; and your homeworld/she-ra crossover, all of which have been great fun to read.

LADY LINDY AND THE KHAN OF KHANS: Part 1 (0.8)
"Do we go after him or-" Lindy started to move, but Janeway grabbed her arm.

"This is how we in the future work, Lindy," she said, forgetting herself for the moment. Lindy's eyes widened - and then she grinned, shyly.

"Oh? Does it involve more teleporters?"

***
Amy strode down the corridor with three members of security. "All right," she said, over her shoulder. "We're going to be facing an Augment - remember, his reflexes and endurance are going to be way, way, way higher than the average human. So, don't even try for melee or precision. We are going to bathe every area he's in with wide angle stun beams and hope he doesn't get a heart attack."

Chell, the bolian, muttered under his breath. "Why do we care of he gets a heart attack? He killed millions of people..."

"We still want to put him on trial don't we?" Blessman asked, rolling his eyes sarcastically.

"Shut up, Rick," Munroe hissed back.

"I'm betting we'll have to stun him as many times as we'd have to stun a Klingon anyway," Chell said, looking distraught, as they walked together into the transporter room, where Harry Kim was tapping in the coordinates.

"Good luck, guys," he said as Amy gave him a small smile.

"Don't worry," she said.

"Just don't beam us into a closet again, Kim," Blessman said, grinning at Harry.

Harry frowned at him. "You do know I outrank you, right?"

"And has more girlfriends," Munroe muttered to Chell.

Harry frowned. "I haven't gotten a firm lock on Khan - he's moving and keeping a lot of the building between us and him. So I'll be dropping you in a clear room and you'll need to triangulate on him." Amy nodded, gave him a thumbs up, and Harry pushed up on the transporter throttle and a shimmering wave of energies crackled around each member of the team. The light faded and each of them stood in a large dining room.

"Well, c'mon, lets toast this 90s dipsh-" Blessman started - and then a stunbeam crackled out and struck him square in the chest. He sprawled on the ground as Amy shouted.

"Take cover!"

The whole squad threw themselves behind what cover they could - while opening fire at the same time. Cones of shimmering yellow light bathed the walls, overlapping with a hissing crackle. Where multiple phasers overlapped, the walls crisped slightly, and a wisp of smoke started to raise from the corner of a carpet, threatening to turn into an actual wave of fire. When Amy poked her head out, peering down the corridor, she frowned, tapped her combadge.

"He's not down, Captain," she said.

***
Janeway frowned. Then her combadge crackled and a strange, new voice came over it. But it was one she recognized. She had heard it in enough historical documentaries.

"Ah, Captain. And human, it seems. That...hmm..."

"Khan," she said to Lindy, then tapped her badge back. "So, Khan, you have a communicator. That makes things a bit easier. Where are you?" She smiled, wryly.

"I'm sure your ship can track me," he said. "But I think exchanging information may be more useful. Your ship, your technology...there's nothing like it on this planet. That means that you're not from this planet. Correct?"

Janeway frowned. If diplomacy was possible, she had to try it. "Correct. We are currently about seventy thousand light years from earth. This is the delta quadrent of the galaxy and we are a...stranded starship. We were cast out here by an advanced alien technology and are seeking our way home. Earth is currently in her 24th century."

"Three hundred years..." Khan was quiet. Then, more firmly. "Have you figured it out, yet? Captain?"

"It?" Janeway asked - while her badge buzzed against her chest. She glanced down, then opened her tricorder, setting it to receive and decode communication. Most people didn't send text messages over the coms, but T'are was buzzing her, so...she started to read what T'are was sending and her eyes widened. She looked up at Lindy. Lindy looked uncertain - seeing something in her Janeway's expression that she did not quite like.

But before she could say anything, Khan chuckled.

"My scientists discovered it within a few months. The primitives still struggling under the twin 20th century delusions of alienation and utopian communalism don't have the technology to find it. I'm sure you would...but I doubt from orbit. It took examining the cells of my subjects. Of myself." Khan grunted, sounding as if he was clambering up, or moving something heavy. Considering his augmented strength, it could be something QUITE heavy.

Janeway frowned. "...no matter the origins of-"

"We're not human," Khan cut across her. "None of us."

"What?" Lindy exclaimed.

"Ah, is that...is that Captain Earhart!?" Khan sounded delighted. "For a freebirth, she has been a delightful foe. She and that little admiral of hers." He chuckled. "No, my dear Lindy. You're not human. I'm not human. Neither homo sapiens nor homo sapiens superior. Our cells give it away. We're...some kind of highly sophisticated automata - our cells do not age nor divide. Damage is repaired by shifting them about physically and recollecting them when displaced, not by replication and repair. The replication was not entirely perfect, or it was guided by some alternative perspective...some discrepancies are clear. Several breed of Augment have reverted to their pre-augmentation stages, their genomic corrections reverted to their original, lesser states. Some radiation damage was fixed. Some injuries, repaired."

He chuckled, while Lindy looked horrified, looking down at her hands.

That was what T'are had discovered.

The stasis chamber had sophisticated sensors to ensure the temporal field was attuned to human biorhythms. There was a reason why Khan had escaped, and it had nothing, nothing at all, to do with him being an Augment. Augments were, at the end of the day, still entirely human. But there had been just enough give at certain fundamental levels of interaction for the stasis field to slip and shudder, giving him momentary flashes of movement. It had needed just one for him to complete the swing of his fist - and that was that.

But...there was another fact. A truth that Khan didn't know. The real reason why Janeway had been so stricken, looking at Lindy.

It had nothing at all to do with these humans - for Janeway knew, in her heart, that they were humans. Being human had nothing to do with genetics or cellular structure. That was what the whole Eugenics War had been about, after all. Deciding, at the end of the day, who got to be human. And the answer that Janeway's ancestors had fought and died for had been everyone.

"There must be an answer on this planet. We're searching India...but have found no evidence," Khan said.

"So, you're conquering the world? To...find answers?" Janeway asked.

"Of course not," Khan said, amused. "I'm doing it because millions of people are suffering under idealistic and selfish regimes. Do you know the mistake of communism? The true, complete mistake? They mistook their visions of the future for everyone else's. By the 90s, it was clear, it was so very clear, that even with the Soviet's proclaiming that they would travel the stars before the capitalists, that their idea that any space fairing lifeform would have to have become communist to become advanced enough to travel was foolish in the extreme. Dilithium can produce negative energy...as I'm sure you know. Once it is discovered - as we did on Mars - or it is synthesized - as is theoretically possible - folding space is merely an engineering problem." He chuckled. "And by far, the most common form of government is not capitalist democracy nor communist oligarchy. It is...Empire."

Janeway frowned. "And so you wanted the world to be unified under your fist?"

"And, of course, to take advantage of our most potent technology - the art of eugenics," Khan said, then sighed. "Ah, but the one thing I wish about this jigsaw puzzle of a world - that they had managed to replicate Hitler. I would have loved to wring that little prig's neck."

"Really?" Janeway asked, arching an eyebrow. Lindy looked faintly surprised at that as well.

"Of course," Khan said. "He did more damage to the ideas of eugenics than anything else."

Janeway saw, then...exactly how to cut through this little knot. She smiled, slightly. "There's just one thing you haven't considered, Khan..."

Do I tell them? She thought.

Do I tell them that they're dying?

CURRENT TRUTHS: "A Planet of Dying Automatons", "Crippled Energy Infostructure"

You have succeeded on your diplomacy check! But HOW have you succeeded? That is the question...

[ ] "Khan...our sensors and science are better than yours. While you were in the stasis pod, my science officer has determined that whatever quantum energy that is running you? It's...winding down. Like a clock. You will stop moving and thinking in the next two years. After that, it doesn't matter what you, what anyone on this planet does. It'll be a museum of waxwork dummies, trapped forever in their last moments. We don't have time for your grandstanding, we have to solve this."
[ ] "Khan, you're wrong. The galaxy beyond has more wonders and terrors than you could possibly imagine - but we were met not with a mailed fist, but with friendship. I am from a united federation of hundreds of planets and through our shared diversity and acceptance, we have become one of the most sophisticated, advanced polities in a dangerous galaxy. Your entire premise was tested and found wanting. Surrender now, and maybe, just maybe, we can find a better tomorrow together."

The failed transporter check means the security team arrives out of place! Khan rolls 2d20 and gets 1s. he's at -1 diff due to his trait Combat Augmentations, and gets 7 damage on his phaser. That's enough to KO Rick. Night night, Rick!

Not as Trekky an argument, but more likely to convince Khan, I think.

I wasn't aware Janeway was now bald and spoke with a English accent despite being French.

[X] Plan: Not Because It Is Easy
"My job would certainly be easier if achieving utopia were a prerequisite to joining the galactic community. There would be fewer wars. Fewer injustices.
"Because you're right, the galaxy is full of despots, of empires, and hegemonies. The Federation is surrounded by them. We fight them. We tolerate them. We're even friends with some of them.
"There's no one else like us out there, but then do you know why there is only one Federation? Oh it isn't simply because it is one of the more difficult kinds of societies to nurture and develop nor is it because ensuring a just society that treats equally an ever growing number of different cultures is an never ending balancing act and we're the only ones that managed to hold out.
"I'll give you a hint. It's in the name. The United Federation of Planets. We stand alone, not because we are the last beacon of goodness in a cold dark galaxy, we stand 'alone' for the simple reason, that when we reached out into that black unknown, someone reached back. And it happened again, and again, and again.
"Two became one. Three became one. Four became one. Sometimes it was them reaching for us, sometimes it was us reaching for them. It wasn't easy and sure as hell wasn't painless but we never let that stop us.
"Do you want to know what is easy? Being a successful lithium dictator. There's an entire galaxy's worth of examples. You said it yourself, it's the lowest common denominator of governments. But humanity can be so much more. The proof is sitting in orbit above you.
"You're a superhuman aren't you? You're supposed to be better than us, aren't you? Why settle for mediocrity? It took a humanity devastated by the fires of nuclear war less than a hundred years to set aside their differences and, as one people, take their first steps towards the stars and they didn't have your fancy augments.
"So what if its harder to create a just society. So what if its harder to do the right thing. You're a student of history. Tell me Khan, why did we choose to go to the Moon?"
