Cardassian Ship – Durable, uncomfortable, close, cramped and cheap. Thinks creature comforts are for other people and technical sophistication is for people who haven't spent decades starving to death. The fact that the starving could have been avoided if the government were less...you know, monstrous doesn't seem to have occurred to that many of them.

Okampan Crew – the crew are bright, perky, cheerful, and incredibly psychically powerful. Individually, they're all better than Vulcans, and as a gestalt? Who knows!

"I'm half Haakonian. Lots of Talaxians do, you know. A light frigate going a fraction of C into a megacity tends to leave...well, there's real estate I have hereditary right to on Konia that still glows in the dark thanks to the Talaxians, I'll have you know." Neelix Jr. nodded, then let out a little giggle. "Not that hasn't stopped me, heh, selling it a few times."

Why did I only just notice this is Miles?

So, since we've finished a season (technically, I did skip a few episodes) I think that Voyager is going pretty well!

However, the next two parter has lots of possibilities as to where it goes depending on your actions. There's a potential super tragic ending, a potential bittersweet ending, a potential happy ending (but that itself brings up its own issues of whether you stay or go.)

So, Voyager may spin off into wild and unpredictable directions based off your whims!

How exciting.

I need to add more sex scenes.

LADY LINDY AND THE KHAN OF KHANS: Part 2 (0.1)
PREVIOUSLY, ON STAR TREK: VOYAGER
"Electrostatic stunner. Rather primitive, but it should work," Amelia Earhart's companion said, taking several other small objects from the man's pockets. "Now, I'll make sure you have privacy, you get changed, and we can see about step two of this little scheme."

Lindy shook her head, slowly.

"Neelix," she said. "None of your plans are little."

Her companion winked, then headed for the alleyway as Lindy started to shuck on her jacket.

***
"T'are...bring up those radio and subspace signals," Janeway said, crossing her arms over her chest. "I want to know what the hell is going on here."

T'are nodded, her fingers playing along her console, then flicked a few more switches.

"-people of America, while our enemy seems relentless, he can be beaten. He will be beaten. He shall be beaten. Our allies in the Soviet Union and New London continue their resistance on every front. Forces in Africa, though stranger than we could have imagined before 37th, are being armed and trained to attack at this so called Khan's sinews of war..."

Tom looked as if his eyes were about to explode out of his head.

"That's Franklin Delano Roosevelt!?"

***
Lindy stood guard as Neelix worked on the elevator controls. "Okay," he said, his stubby fingers twiddling wires. "That should just about do it." He nodded as a faint whirr crack sound came from outside. Lindy jerked her chin up, her eyes narrowing as she bit her lip.

"What was that?" she asked.

"No idea," Neelix said, standing as much as he could. He tugged his ill fitting Imperial uniform as straight as it could manage. "But I think we must use it to our advantage - see?" he gestured to the exit of the garage. "Not a sign of ImpSec, we must be clear for this. And if not, then, well, I suppose I'll just have to start talking faster than usual, eh?" He patted her hip, then stepped into the elevator. "Come on, come on!"

***
"Captain," T'are said. "We're picking up a coded subspace signal coming from the planet's surface. It's from Sri Lanka, the Imperial Palace. And it's aimed...into deep space and angled to avoid any of their sensor scans."

"Put it on the screen," Janeway said, her arms crossed over her chest. The screen flickered and then up popped a human face, serious and focused. The head looked slightly too large from the shoulders and neck, but the eyes were driving - and faintly familiar in their brown hues. The facial structure, too, was also passingly familiar, in a way that made everyone on the bridge look faintly curious.

"Well, Father, I suppose you told me so," the man said, cheerfully. "This planet isn't just a treasure trove - it's a damn ticking time bomb. The Viidians, the Talaxians, maybe even the Kazon and the Borg too are all going to be crawling over this. Population is right at the range where it can possibly be subjugated, if the Emperor's feeling particularly delusional today, with just enough technology to mean anyone who grabs this place will become the new sector superpower. I've run the figures, we can quadruple our industrial base with half the planet, let alone the whole prize. My suggestion?" The door behind him began to hiss and spark. "Oh hell-"

The image clicked off.

***
Tom blinked. "Neelix, he talks like you."

"He does not!" Neelix exclaimed.

"I knew I got it from somewhere. My father never said more than two words when he could help it," Neelix Junior said, his voice cheerful. "Always said that it kept his enemies guessing. Though, now that I think about it, mother's a bit verbose. Very Talaxian - she has lots of opinions about Haakonians."

"None of which stopped her from marrying one," Neelix muttered.

***
The shimmering crackled of a teleporter going off filled the air. The stasis container appeared in the room beside them, and within, was a faintly shocked looking Khan Noonian Sing, his body frozen in the moment between lifting his fist and thrusting it towards the hardened carapace of the outer edge of the container. Janeway gestured towards him.

"Well...I say we convene the Hauge, but the Hague is radioactive ash right now," General Marshal said, slowly, shaking his head. "Well, I'll be damned."

***
A white clad figure sprinted from the room - the door bouncing shut after him as Janeway scrambled to her feet. "You have to be..." She spluttered.

"How did he get out?" Earhart snarled, springing to her feet, holding her revolver in her hand. "Stay down, Mr. President!"

"I intend too!" Roosevelt said

***
"You're a superhuman aren't you? You're supposed to be better than us, aren't you? Why settle for mediocrity? It took a humanity devastated by the fires of nuclear war less than a hundred years to set aside their differences and, as one people, take their first steps towards the stars and they didn't have your fancy augments." She nodded, slowly. "So what if its harder to create a just society. So what if its harder to do the right thing. You're a student of history. Tell me Khan, why did we choose to go to the Moon?"

There was a silence that seemed to stretch on forever.

Khan chuckled, softly.

"I've gone, you know," he said. "On my own yacht. I went to the little plaque, and I looked at those words..." He was quiet for a long moment. "But it wasn't me who did it. That was in the 1980s. Before all this." He sighed, ruefully. "I shall surrender myself. If only...to see how humans of the future climb." He sounded like he was grinning, and...maybe a bit wickedly. Maybe with a rakish little twinkle to his eyes. The sound of it was so damn charming, even through the radio, even without his face. "Because I believe you'll be climbing the ladder as it burns, Captain."

"That does seem to be our style," Janeway said, nodding.

Do I tell them? She thought.

Do I tell them that they're dying?

Lindy smiled at her, putting her hand on her shoulder.

Only two years...

And now, the conclusion...

"I'll have you know..." Jaine Jetrel Haakvalik said, his grin as playful and as wicked as he could make it while not scaring the very pretty armful of noblewoman that he had managed to convince into this dance. "I am a member of Imperial Intelligence."

"Oh Jaine!" the girl giggled, her eyes sparkling. "I could tell that from your uniform."

"Ah, but do you know that as a member of Imperial Intelligence that I know quite a few in the way of secret techniques..." He leaned in close, his voice a playful whisper. "For acquiring information." The waltz grew slightly more lively as the musicians - a mixed Talaxian and Haakonian band that fused together the best tunes from both cultures - a requirement for the Emperor's latest attempts to wed together the Talaxian colonies that had become dubiously loyal members of the Haakonian Order. Personally, Jaine was more than happy that the wearsome task of screening which Talaxians actually preferred the Order to their squabbling republican mess was left to people in IntSec. He was firmly in the more exciting and interesting and upwardly mobile branch of Imperial Security - ExoSec. The branch that got him to far away posts.

And to meet beautiful alien women and enjoy fine alien delicacies, Jaine thought, happily while the girl he was swaying around giggled and cooed at the idea of special techniques. But then her face fell, her brow furrowing.

"Lord Haakvalik, it looks like you're wanted," she said, then nodded her gray brow over his shoulder. Jaine turned and felt his frills tightening as he saw the expressions on the Imperial Navy officers who were looking around the ballroom. The Emperor up on his dais, where he had to stay nice and firmly separate from the courtly dance - it was one of the many reasons why Jaine was quite glad to be as many steps removed from the duranium throne as he was. But even he was taking notice of the admiralty officers. He lifted his hand and the band started to play a bit faster and louder, forcing the dance back into movement.

Nothing to see here, nothing at all, Jaine thought as he extricated himself from the very lovely Haakonian girl he was now going to have leave behind. ...this is his fault, isn't it?

Jaine felt a twinge of remorse at that immediate thought. The funeral had been only a few months ago, when it was confirmed that there was no sign of any distress signal. He came to the two men. One of them was the same rank as he - Lieutenant - but the other one was a Captain, with intelligence and naval pins. A liaison officer. He lacked any nobility ranks, so he was one of the new commoner officers which was remarkable, and that remarkableness only got more striking the longer one looked at the fruit salad spread on his chest: Medals for half a dozen major missions. The Lieutenant, though, still managed to edge the Captain out in terms of remarkability.

He was Talaxian.

"My lord," the Captain said, quietly.

"Captain," Jaine came to attention - slipping smoothly from the noble rank of civilian life to the more meritocratic system of the Haakonian armed forces. "What may I help you with?"

The Captain's frown was the sorry to tell you the bad news frown that Jaine was rather unused to seeing. People didn't tend to tell him bad news, mostly because he worked hard to keep himself nicely settled where he was, where bad news was delivered to other people, with more serious worries in their heads.

"You're being mobilized," the Captain said. "As is the entirety of the 2nd fleet."

Jaine felt the bottom drop out of his stomach. "The Borg?" he asked.

"No," the Captain said.

Jaine sighed.

"Your cousin is alive," the Captain said.

Jaine's face started to turn black. His lips pursed. He clenched his fists. Unclenched them. "I...see," he said. Delight warred with fury.

Of course it was all Neelix's fault.

Earth-2

Kat bit down on the cheesy pile of meat and bread and chewed on it. "And this is..."

"The best phili cheesesteak you're ever getting outside of Phili," Lindy said, grinning slightly at the expression that was transfiguring its way across Kat's features. "My favorite place. George and I used to go here before..." She shook her head, her face growing closed off and distant.

Kat wiped at her face. The two women weren't getting much in the way of looks - because most people who were out and about were still gaping at the immense sight of the USS Voyager, which was hovering over the bay like an immense, frozen mountain of metal. Antigravity made a lot of assumptions about space vehicles rather easy to disregard, and one of them was 'what could and could not land on a planetary surface.'

In this case, the proximity was required. Kat felt her sister rearing up in her mind - trying to steer her brain back onto the date and away from technical irrelevancies.

It isn't a date, Kat thought. Lindy and her were just taking a short break to enjoy the sights. To get to...know...one another...because...they...because...friends! Right? Right. Besides. Lindy was a recent divorcee. It wasn't like she was interested in dates right now. Kat shifted in her seat, slightly. "Uh...why did you two divorce?" she asked, nervously.

"After the, ah, Strangeness, with the war with Khan, he wanted me to stay home. Out of the fight." She shook her head, then frowned. "Do you have anyone back home?"

"Uh..." Kat blinked.

What's this mean? I'm not familiar and I'm not getting much from searching.

I think working out what the thing in the core is is a good idea. Might come back to bite us otherwise. Curious if it's at the core of every planet, or just earth?

If we're going down the path of research I say we set up the infrastructure first and then scan what's going on underground. Those structures aren't going anywhere and as any 4X player can attest bulking up one's science facilities will pay off if done sooner rather than later.

Of course, this is assuming we're going all in on research. There is a fair bit of reason to pick ground-to-orbit guns. Of the four factions converging on Earth 2 one of them is a declared enemy of Voyager, the Viidians. We've seen the kinds of things they've done to their own people, there's no telling what they'll do to the people of Earth 2, especially when you take into account what DC told us, that they no longer have a homeworld.

A despotic government that cares nothing for the lives of others, is adept at treachery, are masters of biology, are forced by necessity to live aboard ships, when presented with a perfectly habitable M-class world may look to speed along the depopulation of Earth 2.

Mark, much like many other elements of early Voyager canon, is boring. Go with the binar girls. Break all the taboos. There's also that juxtaposition with Kat and Phoebe, two minds sharing one body, unlike the binars which are close to two bodies sharing one mind.

I'm guessing Val Jean is not able to undertake by itself any of the jobs Voyager can do solo and limiting to supporting the other ship's efforts because it's not as capable?

Obscure aliens from TNG, highly technical, but tend to think in very ... well binary terms. Ushered in the Era of Holodeck malfunctions due to programs gaining sapience.
Thanks, that led me right to it!

The problem with THE ONLY VIABLE OPTIONS is that I don't like that Janeway would panic. I feel like she's an in charge and on top of things sorta eminently sensible person and would just say it outright and dare you to say something (in a good way in this case 😗). Write in okay here @DragonCobolt ?

Also, should this be a plan vote?

Pitch!

[ ] How do you tell this very nice but also literally old fashioned woman that you were dating *four* people back home, Mark Stewart, A Romulan Nun by the name of Esta and a pair of Binars (who are both girls)!

Ya know how Kirk has a lover in every port?

So does Janeway, but they all date :V

(EDIT: Mark is The House Husband)

I think its fine. Lindy's her hero. It's only natural to feel anxious at telling someone you idolize a truth about yourself when what you do know about them doesn't discount the possibility of rejecting you for that truth.

Lindy was a citizen of the 20th century and was married to a man. It may be a bit unkind, but I don't think its unreasonable to say that there is enough room for doubt in the presence of those facts.

Fair? But also, it's not something she can affect either way, Lindy's opinion is already made up one way or another. I like a version of Janeway that just rips the band aid off with confidence.

I'm split between setting up defenses and setting up a research institute, so I'm going to vote for both for the time being, and I'm in favor of the Val Jean helping along in either case. Be it going the military route or science route I think it'd be for the best to take this initial moment to set stuff up.

If we want to set up defenses doing so now maximizes the chances of Earth 2 having planetary defenses up by the time the other fleet arrive and if we want to do research then the sooner we set up another body of properly equipped scientists on hand the greater the return we'll see as time goes on not to mention the added manpower will allow the Voyager crew to deal with other problems.

Earth 2's problem is not a TNG style single episode issue, but more akin to a DS9 season arc. We should tackle this as the beginning of a long term issue, not a one and done problem of the week that's solved by technobabble.

Changing my vote because we know from Neelix Jr's message that at least one faction is coming to do an imperialism.

We do need to be cracking on with the science, but that'll be a lot easier if we're in a strong enough position that we can negotiate rather than fight.

I won't vote on the date issue.

Yeah, it should be plan votes, plan votes make things easier for my brain!

EDIT

I'm guessing Val Jean is not able to undertake by itself any of the jobs Voyager can do solo and limiting to supporting the other ship's efforts because it's not as capable?

Basically, it's carrying stuff produced by Voyager, then providing the technical know how and energy requirements to do it - so, it does need to fly back to Voyager for complex synthesized parts, but it can still do most of the construction (since it can fit a lot in the cargo hold)

Wait... A pair of bynars as in two bodies that share a mind, or a pair as in two minds with four bodies between them?
