It seems to be a tradition for this quest...So, they managed to solve the Kobayashi Maru? At least this once?
I'm not sorry for grasping for the impossible golden perfection, but I hope reevaluating your plans won't be too hard on you. This was supposed to be a no-win scenario. The rest of you didn't make any mistakes. Anyway, I guess… this is where we're at now. Saaya will be keeping the Locket for the foreseeable future, but Amu doesn't need it that much anymore.
She can. She'll have 1 less dice on everything she does (=read, everything is harder because she has to do it all herself), but she can make a good attempt.Question for stunting/using our best dice pool purposes: can Amu shoot herUMI lasersHeart Beams without the Humpty Lock?
Do we still get the stunt WP/XP bonuses?Credits for beta-ing go to @Nero200, @ShadowAngelBeta and @Quickshot0.
You will note there were no dice rolls in this one. The plan, under the circumstances, didn't need them; but I doubt very much that you'll pull that off twice.
There was a single future in which Saaya lived, and was able to shout at her again, and it was the one in which she did this. She could see that future clearly now. Saaya walking next to her, snarking about her choice of clothes while they searched for a cafe to eat lunch in.
She could do the things that led to that future.
There's a reason she was/is going to be picked as an Exalted.
Saaya already blew a hole in the wall, so there's no need for creating further holes, one can just run straight through now, or stunt ones way through I guess.
You do, so let me correct the update. Amu is now at 5 WP, not 4.Well, that went way better than expected. Using psionics first kind of went against the spirit of the plan, but it worked out, and I'd evaluate the info we got as definitely worth it this time.
Do we still get the stunt WP/XP bonuses?
Amu genuinely changed her mind, is the thing… she wouldn't lie, not even there. Definitely not without that being called out.
It's my assumption. If we vote based on a mistaken assumption, Baugn will call for a new vote when Amu discovers the mistake.so are we deffo fighting now or are you guys just assuming we're gonna be fighting because there is nothing in the options here
We can't transform. The Humpty Lock has been repurposed as Saaya's life support.
We can. It's just not as good without the lock. Quoting the update:We can't transform. The Humpty Lock has been repurposed as Saaya's life support.
And an earlier QM post:She'd held onto the amulet for nearly four years. What it did was a mystery even to her. Support her transformations? Let her fly? Yes, but she could do those even without it, most of the time.
I think you might be suffering a misconception, however. Amu doesn't need the locket in order to transform. It makes it easier, because it makes everything easier, but the transformation is her own doing.
Saay looked back at the rift, her eyes wide, her hands trembling. "Okay," she said, then turned to look at the outside wall.
The emerald glow from the humpty lock intensified slightly. Then the wall, already weakened, and entirely without Amu's say-so, exploded.
We can. Confirmed by the QM here, with the mechanics of what happens without the lock.We can't transform. The Humpty Lock has been repurposed as Saaya's life support.
It said "outside wall", so Saaya might have busted through the rubble blocking the exterior wall instead of the wall to 1-A. @Baughn, confirmation?
Yeah, just realized. Could still be one of our allies busting through from the outside. Or it could be the demon. Would be easier to plan the next action if we'd seen what made the wall explode. It said "outside wall", so Saaya might have busted through the rubble blocking the exterior wall instead of the wall to 1-A. @Baughn, confirmation?
Negotiation gives us more dice, but whether the demon is negotiable with is another kind of dice roll entirely. Pretty impossible to say without seeing the demon first. With the right stunt, we should be able to apply Telekinesis and Dexterity to restraining the opponent. Even without a good stunt, we should easily be able to apply Empathy, Charisma, and Presence to demon negotiation, which is good, because those are some of our best stats. Our only offensive combat ability is Thrown...
The glow from the lock sure sounds like it was Saaya, but it could be something else. Either way, the rift is about to overtake our position, so even if it turns out there are hostiles on the other side of the hole, we probably have to push through there anyway.Yeah, just realized. Could still be one of our allies busting through from the outside. Or it could be the demon. Would be easier to plan the next action if we'd seen what made the wall explode.
It's not just more dice - it's the possibility of getting additional intel, and the possibility of a nonlethal resolution to the situation. That said, we don't have enough information to say much about negotiation approaches or combat tactics in our current vote. My vote mostly boils down to "leave with Saaya, get her talking to Lulu, and come back".Negotiation gives us more dice, but whether the demon is negotiable with is another kind of dice roll entirely. At this point, I'm with the people voting to leg it with Saaya and then come back to help Tadase.
....Looking for Miki isn't even possible without evacuating the vicinity, the grade school section is in a whole different part of Seiyo Academy. Why is this even an option.
Amu has a joint attack with Tadase called Platinum Heart Royale. It was used to purify X-Eggs in canon. I don't know what stats this would use in this quest, I don't think it's Telekinesis, I suspect it would either be Mind Control or Illusion. Possibly the same combo as her Open Heart beam (Mind Control + Presence + Charisma). At least one of our allies is here, and more are likely to arrive soon. Hopefully, we'll be able to come up with an approach that works with our allies, instead of just acting as a bunch of individuals.
Just for the record, Lulu was the one who messed with her Heart's Egg turning her into Hinamori Dream the last time she fought Amu. Might bring back some bad memories. I mean, she'd probably still be OK with the Humpty Lock, but man would that be a heck of a conversation. My vote mostly boils down to "leave with Saaya, get her talking to Lulu, and come back".
And I realise I spent half the update justifying Amu doing that at all, yes. Really wasn't planning for this one. 😅
Amu is still linked to Miki psychically. She's her Chara+, after all. She can send out an SOS that way and ask for help / questions.....Looking for Miki isn't even possible without evacuating the vicinity, the grade school section is in a whole different part of Seiyo Academy. Why is this even an option.
Lulu was the one to do a decent chunk of Saaya's trauma / damage.
