I may sound angry over text, but I'm not. I'm just exhausted and frankly kinda bummed out that people think I'm a hack and may feel rightfully angry that I'm not handing over the win or instant victory, or making things easier for them like they earned it or they keep asking me to lower the difficulty because people do not like how the bad guys seem insurmountable to a 6-year-old, even for one as smart and talented as our boy.

Now excuse me, I'm going to yell at my brother to wear headphones so that I can go to sleep.
dude if we asked for easy mode I might be angry for the current difficulty but this is really about average for a Naruto quest. Honestly it could stand to be a TOUCH easier like the tiniest minuscule amount (by which I mean WTF HOW DID TSUNADE JOIN AKATSUKI!) other than that though nothing really stands out as making this hard mode... I mean we are at about the partial Jounin level of power already despite leaving the academy several years early.... the 4th is alive along with Kushina.... legit things are going pretty well for us atm.

Heck our team has very good odds of beating any non-elite Jounin despite being chunin technically and can probably beat almost any non-S-class ninja or at least have ok chances of doing so. I mean we are already better at Taijutsu than anyone other than a full on Elite jounin specialist (Gai being a super specialist in the art.) and once we learn the clan techniques plus some decent ninjutsu and genjutsu we should be a solid jounin level.

It's bull-shit, but not THAT bullshit. Honestly, some Mangekyo Sharingans are more bullshit.

Why is close combat with them bad? Only the Deva and Preta paths have powers that would make that tough, and they are still dealable. What's more, Hyuuga are more than capable of using their style at range.
Well outside the two you just mentioned there is the mind reading one who can yank your soul right out of you. Then you have to remember he has those corpses he's using which he can throw at us first to wear us out and go for the kill, one of which can just keep bringing back the defeated. Which brings me to this.
Failure to recruit could have resulted in more. They DO come to blows with the people who say no, after all. And if the fight went badly, they could suffer loses.

It is a situation in which the outcome is entirely decided by dice. That is what you wanted, and so it IS an apt comparison.
Depends on who's doing the recruiting. If it's Pain then there really was no threat of any damage happening.

The Human Path was never used in battle, and presumably CAN'T be, given how Nagato was quick to sacrifice it to save the Animal Path.

Bringing back the dead would kill him. So... not really something he can keep doing. So at worse, we first gotta kill the puppets, and then go kill him.

Given bad enough rolls, several of these people could have definitely done something. I mean, Jiarya canonically put up a pretty good showing, and Tsunade is at least on level with him.

Its been awhile so I could be completely mixing it up what is and what isn't possible so bear with me. The human path doesn't seem to be able to do the soul snatch thing mid combat ( for what ever reason, for all we know the author just never thought of the application of such an ability) it's still going to be teamed up with one of the other paths who can probably put us int a position where it can easily do that. As for the animal path If I remember right it could just keep re-summoning anything that had the chakra receiver in it, that including the other paths and they'd come back in good condition. The animal path was protected cause it was the most useful, that's what I meant when I said keep bring back the defeated.

...? When has that ever been the case? The only times I can recall them not enjoying the reincarnation, it is explicltly because they are then mind-controlled and forced to do things they really would rather not.

Well, a lot of stuff could butterfly from our contact with Kakashi, since that lead to an encounter with Obito, and everything THAT changed.

Been a long time since I watched the scene in question and it does get confusing because of the mind control. Might be crossing some wires with why certain characters returned to the pureland.

Might have just been the method of reincarnation, tbh.

And we've definitely caused a lot to change, but seeing the waves of the change make those big changes is something we generally expect. Little things like knowing Danzo was linked to Tsunade joining the bad guys is something important. Outside of the world event roll for Kiri, the butterflies make enough sense. And even the kiri one makes more sense once our GM ruled that it was a biased telling of the events that the roll represented.

I just feel as though, given Kiri's navel positioning in the world... that such a thing could happen.

Also, Ninja pirates just seem and sound super awesome don't you think?

In comaprison to the rest of the naruto world not really. Ninja wizards is where its at. Then again I think everyone in nartuo is super awesome as I am half way convinced they are all some sort of bio-androids with how they swap and replaces body parts by the end of it.

I've woken up because my brother won't shut up or turn down his Dwarf Fortress game.

Apologies in advance for this seeming very... angry sounding. I am not in the best of moods.

If it were my hard difficulty, there would be a chance where Kyuubi killed everyone in the village.

No one has ever chosen my Impossible or hard difficulty options.

This is my medium difficulty.

I know why, as people know what I do for medium difficulty.

People who have read the last quest: Silent Second Life knows what I'm capable of doing on medium difficulty. It's hard, but not impossible, in fact after a certain point in that quest, things got very very easy when you've leveled up in badass, and could survive the shit I throw at you.

Sure the MC, her friends, and classmates got kidnapped by Madara Uchiha and only barely escaped capture by way of the choices they made all the way from the first update... But you all survived and became stronger for it.

I'm asking you for a moment to think about this:

What if I really had no intention of allowing you to survive, to do nothing except things that are against your self (and therefor quest) interest. What if, I was a bloodthirsty sadist who did nothing more then to make the MC and everyone they care about suffer, in horrible, horrendous ways.

What if I had Madara Uchiha kidnap you, but instead of giving you the chance to escape, I forced Zetsu crap down your throat to make it impossible to escape barring an impossibly lucky roll that has almost no chance of happening.

Do you people think this quest is hard?

I can make things very hard.

Just wanted to offer my support, and tell you that I like how things have been going so far. It's been a great quest so far, and I hope you keep it up. ;)

Thank you. I'm not even upset at what people are saying, not really.

Just a bit surprised by people thinking they know better then me about my own writing and what I mean about difficulty and deserve to change everything when they're not getting their way and having me bend over backwards to please them.

Or have conveniently ignore the last quest where everything was even worse happened and they were all okay. Like really I'm actually really restraining myself to not do something crazy to make everything go to complete hell.

Edit: The next update should be a rumor mill, though I have a question:

Anyone up for a Sannin break up and rescuing of students?

Ninja pirates was reasonable, but you gave them like 3 gamechanging events for the roll. Their Kage won the fight to not get mindcontrolled, they chose to stop their academy graduation tradition without zabuza killing off a class to drive in how crazy the idea was, and made them suddenly become pirates.

With at least the fig leaf that the Zabuza academy event might have still happened, it made that more reasonable. It kinda came across as "good roll to have sane kage" and then "and now to add some One Piece to the world" with a dash of "the kiri graduation thing is stupid so I'm writing it out*". I'd totally play ninja pirates because it sounds awesome, but that'd be in a game specifically to play ninja pirates.

Admittedly, part of this is my hate for one off randomness being able to have such a massive effect on games. I lean hard into the deterministic camp, loathing when single rolls can have such massive effects.

*not that it isn't stupid, but getting rid of it without Zabuza happening would constitute a good event on it's own in my opinion

But you must remember my friend: that roll and the information you got, was all from Kiri itself... I think I stated that what we heard from Kiri is a bit of truth mixed with Propaganda (so a biased source) but I never said which one was the whole truth or the one that was 100% the truth.

Edit: Ninja pirating obviously was real.

What do you mean? Orochimaru runs away? Jiraiya dies, or is the last loyal sanin to Konoha?

We already know about Tsunade.

Who will rescue whose students?
I'm talking about Jiraya and Orochimaru having a heart to heart with Tsunade before they rescue Shiuze, and say goodbye to their friend, since even Snake Boi can't bring himself to kill Tsunade after all they've been through.

Meanwhile with the Rest of the World: Post Graduation Rumor Mill!
Meanwhile with the Rest of the World: Post Graduation Rumor Mill!

Konoha:1D100 => 98

Minato has lifted the state of Emergency from the Kyuubi Attack. The other villages suspected that something went wrong with Konoha, but seeing that the village was largely untouched, and just had some renovations done, they saw that Minato declaring a state of emergency was just him cleaning house.

The kage are vaguely impressed that in a few months the potential crisis they heard rumors about but could not verify was true… and that all enemies had been dealt with.

Of course, the massive bounty placed on the head of Danzo Shimura for almost every crime known to man certainly makes other nations both impressed, and weary.

Reward: Minato has finessed his way into a stranglehold on authority in Konoha, placing sole Blame on crimes and illegal operations on Danzo.

The Other villages see Konoha as the usual top village… at this point in time.

Iwa:1D100 => 53

Iwa does the usual posturing that it always seems to do.

Reward: The Status Quo continues. Seriously, nothing truly interesting happened.

Suna:1D100 => 76

Suna has struck a line of good fortune. It seems in their territory, there is a very large, and very hidden deposit of gold under the desert, fifty miles west of the village.

While their financial woes are not totally solved, the new gold supply has granted a very lucrative investment and had given hope to the village, along with being able to attract nobles to their village with the promise of gold.

Reward: Suna struck gold… literally.

Their financial situation is not entirely perfect, but they are on the road to stability and growth.

Kumo:1D100 => 54

Kumo's diplomats have a new stop on their journey…

Rain.

Reward: The diplomats have skipped Konoha, and are instead going to Rain instead. Yay?

Kiri:1D100 => 78

While there is turbulence within the village, thanks to the quick work of Mei Termi and Zabuza Mamochi, Yagura continues to reign as 4th Mizukage. And while they lost two of the Seven Blades, the village is still standing, and still chugging along on Yagura's reforms.

Reward: Mist has not collapsed into anarchy thanks to two teenagers. Yagura's reforms and plans are continuing to work their way through the village.

Rain:1D100 => 90

GOD HAS SPOKEN! THEY WILL JOIN FORCES WITH THE NINJA OF KUMO TO DEFEND OUR INTERESTS!

Reward: So there is an alliance of convenience between Kumo and Rain… and Rain certainly got the better end of the bargain. For the next few turns, Akatsuki gains a +10 to ??? Rolls.
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Jinchuuriki Rolls (Note: Naruto, Gaara, and Fu are disqualified due to being too young at this point in the timeline)

Killer Bee:1D100 => 72

Killer Bee has taken Yugito to the Island Turtle, to train her in her Jinchuuriki abilities.

Reward: Bee has taken Yugito to train at the Island Turtle.

Utakata:1D100 => 53

Utakata has really done anything special. Sure he got better with his bubbles, but he is really just trying his best to stay out of everyone's way.

Reward: Utakata has… really done nothing of note.

Han:1D100 => 33

One thing led to another, and it made him begin to Run again. His village was at peace, but some crazy bastards with cloaks tried to recruit him into an organization to bring peace to the war.

He wasn't interested in being a mercenary, or coming with them.

They trashed his favorite bar.

Reward: Han is being hunted. He's on the run at the moment, heading towards the Land of Waves.

Roushi:1D100 => 50

Han gave him the warning to head underground.

He never doubted the boy's warning, but he knew that whatever was happening, was serious.

Well. there is one place he could go… but they hate him there.

Reward: Roushi does underground to ???. The Akatsuki are ignoring him, and it is unknown if he succeded in getting underground.

Lord Fourth Yagura:1D100 => 13

Yagura, the Fourth Mizukage, was critically injured by the Seven Swordsmen Kasime, and Jugo.

All three have fled to the mainland, with bounties in the tens of millions hanging over their heads.

The Mizukage however, is in a coma and recently promoted Jounin Mei Terumī and Seven Swordsmen Zabuza Mamochi has seized control of the government to maintain order.

Reward: Yagura is not in a good place, and is no longer in control of his government.

Yugito:1D100 => 80

Yugito is at the Island Turtle to Train with Killer Bee.

She thinks she is getting the hang of it, but still has a ways to go.

Reward: Bee has taken Yugito to train at the Island Turtle.

She's getting better at controlling the Two-Tails.

Kushina:1D100 => 57

Kushina is exhausted. She is a mother who wants to do her best, both to be a good wife and a good mother to the two men in her life. Every day is a challenge and one that she always faces head-on.

Too bad it's a challenge that will never stop until Naruto is older.

She's getting tired… and wants a day off so that she can relax.

Reward: Kushina wants a day off, and Minato is too busy to help at this very moment.

New D-Rank Missions are available.

AN: Enjoy!

Wait, you say Kumo in one and Iwa in the other? I'm assuming Iwa is a typo and you mean Kumo here?

That's bad, Rain and Kumo are working together...

Akatsuki may have early access to Yugito and Killer B.

So... Konoha rolled a 98 and all it got was a bit of stability and reputation, no tangible benefits. There's not even a +10 to certain future rolls from the internal stability.
Rain rolls a mere 90, which is nearly four times as easy to roll (11% compared to 3%) and gets... an entire major village as an alliance, plus a mechanical advantage of +10 to certain rolls.

Next time we pick difficulty, I'm voting for easy.

Pretty sure it was always going to make this a difficult quest not matter what option we picked at this point,. That is not a good thing tho as difficulty does not translate into fun.

Magoose would probably quit writing the quest if easy mode was selected. There was one quest when the players did easy mode, and Magoose couldn't continue after a certain point (either they got ten updates in, twenty updates deep, or three updates deep. I can't remember, and don't want to look).
