I think we should train defenses, awareness, mobility, and attacks that are very different than the gentle fist. Actually, I think our teammates should focus on attacks, we should focus on defense, awareness, and mobility. We will be deployed together until we hit chuunin at the minimum. Until then, the only time we will get attacked without them is if someone gets the drop on us while we are in Leaf. Awareness is the best thing to help with those situations, with mobility being a close second.

We should train the Byakugan until we can keep it going 24/7 for days at a time, with a range in the 100s of meters. Alongside that, get a ground speed that would make Minato proud. Or learn to fly or burrow.

Defenses : That's actually up next, learning the Defensive Gentle Fist
Awareness : We will be training our Byakugan as soon as we can, I'd love to be a Itachi in that regard, just have them perma-on. As for Range... Dude, our Range is 20 MILES, get out of here with your meters.
Mobility : I have no idea how to actually train this
Other Attacks : ... why?
Chuunin : The only reason we ain't chuunin yet, is because there hasn't been a chuunin exam in the 3 months since we became genin.
Fly : We might be able to now, by talking to our The Pilot. Not sure.
Burrow : Gonna need to learn Earth Style first, but that would be an awesome technique to learn once we can.

Unrelated Edit :
... Something I just realized, Red Glowy Eyes That See Good is KINDA something that already exists in Konoha... There might be some questions about our heritage...

I'm going to see if I can make an Omake about this.

What the shit?!? Thats... strategically relevant. We can scout areas from over the horizon. And our rank for that still says Genin?
Other Attacks : ... why?
Because if something doesn't fall to our punching, we should assume that either a god in ninja form has come to fuck with us, or that they are for some reason immune to specifically punching and a very different attack might work.

This is a short term preference. With enough bullshit, even gods can fall to punching. If we can get the eight gates, we should go for them.

That's our INNATE range. We turned on our eyes for the very first time, and almost passed out from information overload as everything in Konoha and beyond thrust itself into our brain. Our rank determines how much skill we have with them, and with a high enough rank we can probably push our range even further.

We have team-members, I think we're honestly best off trying for the "enough bullshit" approach rather than branching out TOO much, letting our teammates cover our relatively few weaknesses.

We should be able to get the gates, considering who our mentor's BFF is. And if we can't, there are a bunch of techniques like the gates we can get that would make our Gentle Fist even more powerful.

I really don't see why people are so enamored with the Eight Gates, when they take forever to achieve and wreck your body. There are other super-modes like sage mode which seems far more fitting for a Hyuuga. The ability to kill nearly anything by injecting nature chakra with the Gentle Fist is scary as hell.

Because the 8 Gates are INSANELY powerful, dwarfing the other super modes, requires training most people should be doing anyways, has most of it's drawbacks be negateable with proper Healing, and is pretty simple to actually use (just gotta open the tenketsu, literally what we do all the time).

The Healing part is extra noteworthy. If you have a super-mode whose downside is -5HP/s, then as long as you can get some Regeneration equal to 5HP/s, there is no longer any downside, and there are POTENT healing abilities available.

We can learn Sage Mode IN ADDITION to the 8 Gates. And stack those with Tsunade's Seal and Raikage's Lightning Release, and we'd be ready to deck Kaguya.

Here is my model of threats, and what can be done to prepare for them:
  • Ambush while separated from the team.
    • Defenses, mobility, and Byakugan
  • Hyuuga civil war.
    • Friends, allies, understanding.
    • Being able to keep the Byakugan on all the time to watch loved ones.
  • S ranked oponents when faced as a team.
    • We are prepared very well for exactly this.
    • Just don't get caught unawares
  • Akatsuki stirring up war from the shadows
    • Get a spy network.
    • Learn to lip read and scout whole villages from 20 miles away
  • Political consequences. This includes Akatsuki defectors, belligerent enemy villages
    • Get a spy network
    • Get diplomatic training
    • Get positions of authority
The more I look at it, the more I think we should train the Byakugan to nonsense levels.

Our affinity is Lightning, Earth and Lightning do not work well together so I think trying to go with another type of affinity would be better, water for example.

Why do you say they don't work well together? Lightning is Earth's Weakness, but they aren't mutually exclusive.
"Yeah!" He replied excitedly. "Some of the elders are saying that I might be able to beat you."
Man, I can't wait to see the day Neji gets as absurd as we are. We should also see about introducing him to Sasuke at some point. They'll argue over who's brother is better, and at the same time unbenownst to them, we will be arguing over which of our brothers is better.
@Magoose, would this be a valid write in option for the next training vote?
[]God of Hide and Seek: practice finding people you recognize at long range using the Byakugan
Training our Byakugan will be part of our possible choices next update. Recognizing people easily and quickly presumably would be part of it.

Man the choice to roll the missions with none of our relevant bonus's applying (exept for the +10 somebody had to remind the qm about) is really questionable, seems like forced drama on the qm's part.

Eh, I can understand it, if it's meant to represent events largely outside of our control. Like here, it doesn't matter HOW good at healing we are, the Head Doc is the guy who made the mistake and we were forced to render him unconcious so that we could try to save the guy.

Our skills still effect the "DC" (The QM had said that things will work out fine still despite the near-disaster), but the dice roll is our luck in the situation.

Malfunction
Malfunction:

You awoke in a hospital bed. "Ow." you groaned. "What happened?"

You saw a ninja waiting on you. And your hand hands in cuffs. "Genin, I am requesting you stay calm, and please tell me what happened in surgery suite 5."

"Why am I cuffed?" You asked. "Did I do something wrong?"

"Because you nearly killed Hayate Gekko in surgery."

What... no, that wasn't possible... no, the poison in his system! "No no, he's going to die if I don't help him! The surgeon is wrong '' You shouted. "Take these off, please! Or he's going to die!"

"The doctor has already discovered what is wrong with Hayate, he's already administering the-" The ANBU stated, sounding shake, but you cut the person off.

"No, the poison Hayate is experiencing is not Glyphosate Poisoning, his damaged lungs are only part of the problem, not the source of it. He has been affected by nerve gas!" You shouted.

The ANBU stays silent. "You have been removed from the surgical suite for-"

"I don't care ANBU-san about what will happen to me for breaking the rules." You stated. "If you value his life as I do, you will let me out and let me help him."

The ANBU was quit, before the chains around the bed were sliced, freeing you. "Hurry."

You nodded and took off running across the hospital. You pushed through the staff, not caring except that a life was at stake, and you were going to save it.

You burst into surgical suite 5 and you roared. "STOP!" Everyone in the room froze as you waddled over to the surgeon in charge, before jumping and sending him flying into the wall, leaving behind a crumpled unconscious body.

You then turned to the group of nurses. You pointed to the first one near the surgical table "I need 500 cc's of Atropine now!" You pointed to another nurse, the closest one to the door. "We need a blood transfusion ready in two minutes, he might lose a lot of blood." You turned to the last nurse. "I need you to make an incision above his right lung, I'm going to drain the blood out of it and heal the wounds that the gas has caused."
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The surgery was a success… at least in saving Hayate's life.

The gas had damaged his lungs more than you were able to heal. It was thankful that the gas did not get to his brain in a higher dosage.

He may have a cough for the rest of his life... but it was better than the alternatives of prolonged exposure.

The break room was empty, save for you and the ANBU who were placed as a guard to you. You didn't need to activate your Byakugan to notice the five hiding within the vents to keep you from leaving.

The head of the Hospital walked into the room. Nonō Yakushi adjusted her glasses as she took a seat "Shiro Hyuga… I should have you stripped of your license, thrown into the stockade and removed from the ninja corps for blatant violation of the Hospital's rules and regulation, meant for your safety, and the patient's safety."

She sighed. "But, your actions today have caused me to reconsider those very… very steep punishments." She paused, pulling out a sheet of paper from her pocket. "Your sensei has been notified of your probation here at the hospital, you will only be able to do basic nursing duties and pediatrics for the next five weeks."

You frowned. "Yes, Ma'am."

"Dr. Katsuki has been removed from his position, on account of Malpractice, and will be going through disciplinary hearings in regards to his… actions today." Nonō stated.

She stood up and walked over to you, and placed a hand on you. "You did well… despite breaking the rules Shiro."

"I just did what I could to save a life." You replied.

"And I wish all my medics and doctors had your drive." She stated. "You are dismissed… go home, be with your family."

Reward: The Hospital staff and head respect you for what you did. You will be on probation for one turn (D-Rank mission unavailable)

Nonō Yakushi is handling the situation.

You didn't need to activate your Byakugan to notice the five hiding within the vents to keep you from leaving.
And there we go, continuing to just notice all these fools trying to be sneaky.
Reward: The Hospital staff and head respect you for what you did. You will be on probation for one turn (D-Rank mission unavailable)
Can we still do Therapy (if we can find a social slot for it)? Or would we not be allowed to do that either?

i find this part kind of hilarious. i'm pretty sure an intern doesn't get punished for physically 'overrulling' and removing a doctor that makes the wrong, and lethal, diagnostic. If anyone is to lose his medical license it's that doctor...

Good. It does bring to question the previous issue though...

Plus our other two teammates are, at the very least, jounin-level taijutsu people, we are a fright to fight. Dunno if any of them hit Kage while we were doing our thing.

Both jonin level? That might be going too far, although it could be an issue of how "jonin level" is defined.

As much as I don't wana diss Kakashi, the Chidori is kinda... dumb. It's an armor-piercing attack, in a world where almost no body uses armor. A Kunai would be just as effective in most cases. And it's LESS useful for us, since our entire style is armor-piercing.

To be far, he grew up in a time when the village was at war. I'd assume Iwa nin use some techniques that provide armor.

The chirdori also apparently gives a crazy speed boost, to the point even Kakashi himself had to be careful where he used it before he got the Sharingon from Obito. There are better ways of being fast, but it's an avenue to explore.

Granted, like a lot of stuff from Part I this may have gotten contradicted later on, so it may be worthwhile to have our GM make a ruling on it.

Eh, the punishment she describes is almost certainly allowable by the rules, but considering the village ultimately operates on "The Hokage Said So" we'd probably have been able to stay in the ninja corps.

Would probably have been banned from the Hospital though, so we'd need to figure out how to patch ourself up. Shadow clones probably.

Edit:

@Magoose I feel like this was one of your better "things go wrong" events you have pulled. Just the right amount of loss and failure on our part mixed with events outside our control.

It means, in their ability to punch (Thus, taijutsu), they are jounin level. They can punch as good as a jounin person. By definition of their skill rank.

I don't think it ever gave Sasuke any get up and go. He always seemed to move as fast with as without, and was moving as fast as Naruto with his Rasengan.

Thanks. I am trying to make failure just a little bit more enjoyable, even if things go wrong.

Edit: Just because you fail the action doesn't mean things go horribly wrong.

It's technically Canon that it gives a speed boost. Its supposedly why it could be used as an "assassination technique".

There's a lot of stuff from canon that doesn't always make sense, but Chidori giving a speed boost isn't one of them. Not that it really matters since Naruto stopped caring about details like that around then too.

Yeah, the reason you need a Sharingan to use it was that the Chidori apparently turns the ninja using it into a living railgun slug. They'd be moving too fast to react, once they finish forming the Chidori they'd rocket ahead in a linear trajectory at extreme speed. The Sharingan can see at extreme speed, so you can course correct, but if you're a normal ninja the Chidori is like a bullet, once you pull the trigger you either hit or not, and you aren't dodging shit.

The story seems to have forgot about that though.
