[x] Pick a movie.
-[x] Pacific Rim.
You falter at hearing Matsuko's words. Short of jumping out of the window right here, right now, you doubt you will be able to dodge that sort of thing. And since breaking your friend's house wouldn't do, you'll need to come up with a plan. "Uh, right, um…" You need more time! "Say, Ami?"
"Yes, what is it, Tamiko?"
"Do you have something we can search movies with?" you ask the girl, suddenly keen on this. If you get to take the honors of picking the movie, you may be able to distract everyone successfully! "I mean, you do still have a television here, right?"
"Of course! My dad has some sort of online library installed too, has that red symbol, and I know how to use it," Ami explains to you with slowly widening understanding. "I don't think he'd mind us using it, actually. It's a rare occasion, after all!"
"I think I know the brand, we used to have that one back over at ours," you explain. It's true too, though you actually watched very little movies with it, afraid it would cost your aunt money and make her ignore you even worse out of anger, somehow. "So, here's my suggestion! I'll go and pick us a movie- don't worry, I have something very good in mind- while you'll get everything ready. Sound good?"
You push out your chair and slowly rise up from your seat while you explain your plan, preemptively making sure that you're in position to run if they try to disagree with you. It's a precautionary measure, you assure yourself.
"Oh, that is a nice idea, Tami," Matsuko agrees with a sickeningly sweet smile. "But don't forget that you're in for… investigative measures here."
You shudder involuntarily upon hearing the words. The way she says it, makes you think of a hungry shark that has whiffed blood in the water. You can only hope you'll be able to distract her for long enough to make her forget about her curiosity.
"Oh, what sort of movie is this?" Ami asks you, breaking you out of your terror-filled fantasies.
You blink. "Uh…" Come on, improvise! "...It's le secret."
"Guess we'll get to see soon enough," Yuujin muses. "But why not get started with the snacks here? Come on!"
You not enthusiastically at the indirect rescue, and quickly scatter off to the living room of Ami's house. Her family seems to have a rather large-screened television there, and you can't recall seeing that particular one before. You have some faint recollections of watching cartoons through a much smaller screen.
Good times.
You frown and shake your head. You need to focus, this is your dignity on the line, you need to think of a plan, and pick up the movie while you're at it! You pick up the remote control from the couch and, after a moment's confusion, start surfing through the online library there.
There are so many titles to choose from and your mind is overwhelmed quickly from the abundance of choices. With so much to choose from, what are you even going to show them? You promised something good, but you don't recognize even half of the things there-
You pause as a vaguely familiar title passes by your yes. You scroll back to it, and stare at the cover for a moment, a huge robot standing dramatically in the water.
Pacific Rim.
Your expression starts to brighten. Evelyn told you about this one yesterday, and you've been burning to see it! The dumb, awesome robot movie where they punch monsters in the face! It's like a miracle, your friends will most definitely be dazzled by your choice and thus unable to tease you about-
"Hmm, I think I've heard of this one," Yuujin muses from behind you. It takes every ounce of your self-control to not jump high in the air and scream at the suddenness of her arrival. You almost had a heart attack there!
"Pacific Rim, eh…" Matsuko follows immediately after, curiously peering at the description text. "Sounds like it could be pretty fun! Let's give it a try!"
Yes, they've forgotten! Victory!
"But really, how about we hear about this kidnapping thing first?" Matsuko asks you with a mischievous glint in her eyes. "Really, I didn't know good old Tamimoe would grow up to become such a casanova!"
You blanch upon hearing the words. You shouldn't have left Ami alone there with them!
