So our friend teleports by punching the space-time continuum.
AWESOME!

You guys must really love to torment Tamiko. The zombie shooter again? Really?
Only by enduring hardship can one bear the weight of life!
Only by building up weight day by day does a muscle become stronger!
Usually by controlled exposure does one overcome traumatic events!
This is The Price Of Power!

That, or Tamiko will suffer a nervous breakdown from her inability to handle said game. One or the other.

Incidentally, the character sheets have been updated for Ami, Matsuko and Yuujin. I've also tweaked the main group a little for each one, though nothing drastic. Further updates to the timeline will come later.

Haha, yeah definitely need to get going on that training.

Seriously, what exactly is the "norm" power/skill level for magical girls? Them being that much better is totally justified, though. And Tamiko's rate of progression isn't really that bad.

Still, the powergamer in me is demanding that Tamiko get out there "git gud".:V

Well, I did make Tamiko's Witch form a Dark Souls-esque boss for a reason.

The 'norm' is entirely dependent on how long the girl has been in the business. Tamiko is actually way ahead of many others with similar amount of time after their contracts. So not bad is putting it mildly.

Tamiko's witch is FUN incarnate.

She just wants to hug everything and never let go.

You're more right than you probably realize.

It's Ami who opens her mouth in response first, spelling out the obvious question. "Matsuko? What exactly did you just do?" she asks with obvious confusion while she looks around to try and recognize where you're currently located in the city. She has probably yet to fully comprehend the existence of magic the same way as you have.

"I shattered the distance-barrier in the space-time continuum between our previous location and this place, hence instantly transporting us here," Matsuko explains matter-of-factly, leaving you quite baffled.

"Bwuh?"

"...I punched laws of physics hard in the face, and told them to bend over."

"That's quite… strange way to do something like that,"
Ami says, sounding somewhat bemused.

"You mean really cool, right?" you giddily ask her in turn. Sure you're still not entirely sure what exactly Matsuko means, but you can understand the principle well enough: punch things to teleport. "How far can you travel? How much grief does it cost you to something like this?" She shouldn't waste her magic for something trivial like this…

"Hmm, I haven't really tried to go too far," Matsuko admits. "It gets difficult to pinpoint the direction the further you go. My best one is about ten kilometers or so, although that one needed a lot of preparation beforehand."

The girl gives you a reassuring smile. "And don't worry about the cost! Doing this is really cheap if I have the time to plan the route. I got off cheaper with this than with the sharp shifts I have to use to dodge stuff. I tend to use more power and shatter a lot more than I really need to, when doing this ad hoc."

"Well, if you say so…"
If she's alright with it, you guess? "But how about we get going to the arcade now? No use standing around here, twiddling our thumbs, you know."

Nobody has any objections, and you sneak out of the construction zone to set your course towards the familiar arcade. Lights and colors blast your face as you enter the building and pay the entrance fees.

Both Yuujin and Matsuko appear to be quite taken in by the sight of the Arcade's interior, looking around with interest while trying to appear as if they knew what was coming. In your opinion, Yuujin is a great deal better at that game than Matsuko, though that might be because said detachment is seemingly her normal state of being.

It's probably because of that Yuujin's the first one to suggest what you should try out first.

"Say, how about starting off with that one?" she says and points to one particularly familiar spot in the Arcade. "First person shooters should be fine, right?"

Your blood seems to freeze in your veins as you lay your eyes upon the name you've learned to fear by now. You have to suppress the shakes that travel across your bones. You almost feel like you're about to cry at the mere thought.

"Oh, good idea, Yuyu! Are you coming, Tami, Ami?" Matsuko asks you. "It seems like a fun and thrilling ride."

No, it isn't! It's a terrible and cruel piece of evil. No good person should ever approach it willingly!

But despite wanting to tell them, protest, and say something, anything, those words die in your throat. You're left paralyzed and unable to say anything in response. Internally, you're screaming your lungs out and praying for a miracle.

Then those prayers are answered.

"I don't think that's a very good idea," Ami says after a moment's hesitation that she spent looking at you. "Seriously, I think we should pick a different game first, and maybe think about this one later." She seems reluctant to bring up your fears to Yuujin and Matsuko.

"Huh, are you scared of zombies?" Matsuko asks, staring at her.

"...You could say that," Ami carefully tells her. "I don't want to go into specifics, but… well, this is not a game we should play with this group. It's the only one, though."

"Ah, roger that,"
Yuujin quips, looking somewhat disappointed, but conceding to Ami. There won't be an argument for this one, it seems. "Hmm, you have any suggestions then?"

"Not really,"
Ami is forced to admit, as she turns to look at you. "But what do you think, Tamiko, anything you'd like to try out here?"

You can't recall the last time you've wanted to hug her this badly… Though it probably was on Friday.

What do you do?

You'll need an actually good excuse to get Tamiko in front of that again. Ami was there the last time, and she knows how badly you deal with that game now.

Because those are pretty fun. Plus maybe we can beat our friends at it! :V

Aren't skee ball machines always in the back next to the basketball games, or is that just a local thing?

Thank you Ami for being sane and caring for your friend.
