What voice actors are you reading the characters with, y'all?

I'll admit that White Hawk has basically been a mix of pre-reveal and Third Semester Goro Akechi (as played by Robbie Daymond) to me.

I don't have specific VA's in mind when I write them, though I hear their "voices" if that makes sense. Like, if I heard Mona, I'd immediately know it was her.

Actually there are two exceptions. Wei is 100% Kaiji Tang and Rhys is my college roommate.

Ibis is a higher pitched Dr savanna with half the goblin

Yara is someone doing an arianna grande impression

Lady Leizi is a deeper Kazumi Evans(adagio dazzle with her rouge the bat inflections)

And chaucer is uncle pennybags
 
It's definitely not correct, but I imagine Scarlet Maturity as Goro Majima's Japanese actor
Not because he probably remotely sounds like that, but because he definitely fits that theme of "everything in my life came crashing down, so I guess I'll pretend to be a crazy person to push other people away"
The wild thing is that this makes Mona Kiryu

I've heard Mona as higher-pitched Ash Ketchum for ages now. Help.
In my head Maddie sounds like... uh, I don't know actually.
Is it weird that I hear Silvio as Yuri Lowenthal? (channeling his young Simon voice from Gurren Laggan)

Edit: And Wolong sounds like Jing Yuan (english VA) from Honkai Star Rail! Weird considering they're both strategists!

11k done. We're at the 60% mark, I think? Sorry this one is taking so long; I've been getting my butt-kicked lately. But, things are looking up for the moment, so I should be able to get my full writing-groove back soon with any luck.

I don't usually imagine character voices while reading, but I would put in John Avner for Faust. Tony Jay was my initial pick as far as iconic voices for villainous schemers go, but his manner is more openly menacing compared to how Faust operates. Also it would be funny to have him share a voice with Berserk's Void.

Yeah that pretty much tracks. In a world with super heroes or more specifically Hero/Villain heavy cities where the gov is basically non existant?
I would be more surprised if there were gun laws.

More likely a "please dont have anything above Death Ray level. We cant stop you, but the collateral would be a b**ch and a half to fix".
 
I'm realizing this update could have been a five-parter on it's own. Man, there is too much to cover. Still, it's looking like early next week. The trickiest bit to write is yet to come.

Yeah, it's going to be tricky explaining how Apiary only faked her death for seven years, but she's fine now and ready to help and Novalight's not around to harass her anymore and she rejoins JU and that fixes all our manpower and publicity issues and everything is made right again.

...That's the tricky part you were referring to, yes?
 
To bee or not to bee, that is the question right? Sorry to be a bit of a buzz kill, but i don't think she is coming back. The idea of such a retcon makes me want to break out in hives, look at me, just droning on.

Just checking the starting chapter. Then I noticed the space related eldritch thing, then the lightning martial art woman (that likely chosen) and some detail. Did you play PGR beforehand for inspiration ? :V (Just a fun, curious question ^^!)

_ For context of my reference, though of course if not then feel free to ignore this, going to read more in free time since I like intrigue focused type:

I've never played Punishing Grey Raven. Lady Leizi is a lightning martial artist because I spent 80 hours playing Reina in Tekken 8.

So in the discord we were talking about high-level Red Huntress builds for Cain/Simao and I came up with this banger of an idea:

The Ultimate Predator

Red Huntress (6) + iSpy (4) + Daggermaw (1) + Millions Minefield (1) + Soldier X (1)

Intangibility, Telekinesis, Combat Precog, probably more.

x2 on Enhanced Senses, Tranformation, Energy Manip, Clairvoyance, Invis, and Fitness.

But the real fun is in how the powers combine. Both Red Huntress and iSpy's powers relied on tagging a guy, but hopefully with the combination, the user would be able to tag multiple people and then gain power from the 'sum' of how strong they are.

I also had the fun idea of... what if the Intangiblity takes the form of whoever is tagged by the user is unable to touch/hurt the user? Cain could tag White Hawk or Scarlet Maturity and they'd just pass right through him, but he'd still be able to hit them back.

Plus, Combat Precog meaning that whoever they tag, they can predict the next actions of. And the 'know where they are and what they're seeing' combination. And also being able to be invisible to them.

And the fun part: Millions Minefield's energy draining meaning that they slowly lose energy and power while Cain just gets stronger and stronger, taking their vitality and boosting himself.

You can't run from him. You can't hide form him. You can't hurt him. He's the ultimate slasher movie monster.
