I was thinking about how anyone with a healing other people ability would probably get a massive Reputation boost owing to people liking the medic.
IF they anywhere NEAR like the Medic from TF2 I think the Reputation would be quite.... different from what we would want.
The Medic from what I remember:
Lost his Medical Licence
Does Illegal Medicinal Practices/Experimemtations
Has a severed living Spy head in his fridge
Has done some weeeeird shite with magic
Sold his soul to a Demon
Stole the souls of all his "teamates" and stiched them to himself
AND sold his teamates to said demon once they eventually die.
Soooo yeah... quite the Reputation....

There's only like five people in the world who can do that one is a giant asshole, unfortunately
Figures... Healers are rare in most media for a reason. Cant have DRAMATIC AND TENSE MOMENTS with Mister/Miss I can heal anything on speedial. We cant always have a whitemage in hand, welp we do good with the healtanks.

I think we've had like… six different plans with either Invuln, Regen, or increased Durability. Maybe seven.

Which is great if you're one of those supers… kinda shitty for you if you aren't. For example:
"—so I get there and Valiant Silver's on the ground, lying in a pool of her own blood with her armor in pieces everywhere. So I think to myself, 'finders keepers!' and I start collecting it. Then that chump Adamant and his girlfriend Leizi show up and they're all 'what are you doing, stop' and I go 'maybe if you leader didn't want to share, then she should take better care of her stuff?' and then—"
Yeah. Unfortunately there was no convenient healer there, otherwise we wouldn't have to consider GJ over New Dawn.

Is the "five healers total" count taking into account people who died against the Leviathan, @Bitterman? Because if so, then Horizon's somehow even more cooked.

There were three in Horizon. Indemnity died, Lethal Anodyne is a nominal member of Powers but really just sells to the highest bidder, and Medicant—the strongest one—is a recluse.

Lethal Anodyne and Mendicant weren't at the Movement.

The other two are elsewhere in the world.

If I had a nickel for every awesome metahuman (Augur, Medicant) with an EXTREMELY USEFUL superpower (good clairvoyance, absurd healing) that JUST SO HAPPENS to be a recluse… I'd have two nickels. Weird.

Wolong's power would probably involve an Operations boost, given that it's super analysis. Ditto any Algnernon types.

Invisibility would be an Espionage boost, as would illusion abilities, telepathy or empathy, clairvoyance...

Telepathy and empathy would probably also have Reputation bonuses for the ability to know what people want to hear and psychic group chat.

One potential plan for after Project Prometheus gets revealed: Give a lot of doctors healing powers. We're very far away from being able to do that, but it'd be hard to say we're completely misusing the technology if we can spin it into saving lots and lots of people's lives.

My vote is for Ibis. He puts on an air of an arrogant super scientist and it certainly is filtered through personal animosity towards Prince, but he does seem like he does feel empathy and care towards her.

Thinking of broader team dynamics... Mona is probably going to be an older sister figure to Maddie. Rhys is already doing big brother like things to her.

Yeah utility can be one insane game changer....A character from a Indie game I once played called Cristales is a time manipulator. She Can see into the past, present and future all at once (trippy for a while ngl), can "cut" time during combat to divide the battlefield into past, present and future (enemies can change their placement in battle so left enemies are suddenly past iterations of the creature tree while the opposite with right side enemies been future versions. As you can imagine ya need to be careful when you do that since you could send someone into the future where they are old and frail...or send them into a future where they are an Experience veteran ready to rock your shit 50/50 most of the time) she can "break" those "cuts" for a big chunk of aoe damage, she can accelerate allies and slow enemies (classic) heal wounds via time manipulation (jeez they went wild with utility huh) put enemies on a DOOM counter, accelerate time on objects to get rid of them and then put them back (oh hi puzzles) to their previous state and eventually Freeze time. Oh and a other team member can accelerate plant growth with time magic too.
Soooo yeah, long spiel over Crisbel (thats the MC) is very versital.... and would probably die within the hour if she was in this world with her power set. Theres utility and then theres being a gods damned toolbox....

Yeah this game has set a new standard for time manipulators for me.

I already know who's going to win the "Madeline-bowl" and Dr. Ibis will definitely consider throwing his hat in.

This was a tough vote. Many great plans were made and for a while it was anyone's game. But now the curtains drawn and we can finally say
[+] ESOTERIC UTILITY WON WITH 69 VOTES BAAABEEEE!!!! CAN I GET A HELL YEAH!?!?

And to celebrate this momentous victory, I'm gonna theorize what we wouldve gotten with some of the other plans!
[X] Plan: Sucker Punch
-[X] DNA Profile 1: Outsider (Potency 4)
-[X] DNA Profile 2: Adamant (Potency 3)
-[X] DNA Profile 3: Daggermaw (Potency 1)
-[X] DNA Profile 4: Soldier X (Potency 1)
-[X] Potency Reduction: (-3 Potency)
-[X] Total Potency of Dose: 6
First up we've got a plan with my boy Outsider, Adamant, Daggermaw, And Soldier X. Quite the eclectic group! A body made of energy, a body made of metal, a Lizard man, and Peak Performance.

Except, that's a lie: Outsider isn't "made" of energy; he's a "nucleus" outputting a solid energy field shaped like a man. And THAT only happened because it was a major side effect: which we know isn't guaranteed just because the original sample had it. pity, I liked the idea of outsider metahumans being cores that make their own body. Cest la vie! IOn the flipside, Daggermaw's "theme" isn't being a Lizard man, it's something else entirely! My theory: his true focus is around Senses, be it enhancing them or adding new ones. Or maybe it's vibrations, but I like my first idea better. Adamant is a metal elemental who creates and controls the stuff he's made of. In my mind that means we should treated it like an extension of his flesh. All 3 of these people have transformation, so that's a guarantee, but it's still important to observe their powers outside of that.

That leaves Soldier X the odd woman out. Or does it? Her power let's her be in top physical condition without exercise, and what is exercise if not a slow, controlled transformation of the body? What is "regeneration" if not the body reordering itself that best it know how? Perhaps with a higher level of potency Solider X's power would include an actual healing factor. Perhaps we've already seen this theme in mona

With all that in mind my hypothesis is thus: Rhys will be able to transform into a superhuge, super buff lizardform made of metametal. This metamaterial can potentially interact with his energy manipulation in one of four ways.
  1. He uses it to "forge" the metal in exotic ways just like how thermal energy is used to forge normal metals, possibly modifying its material properties!
  2. He can "charge" the metal with his energy, like Gambit charges cards. I expect the form to look something think this but less organic
  3. He can cover his body with energy like aura from rwby and deform it as he sculpts himself. Could he shape them separately? Who knows!
  4. He sweats it out from between his scales, then sparks it with his energy for extra effect. Like metal in fireworks!(yeah I know that's mostly for color but roll with it plz. Thanks ♡)

All options can also fire lasers normal-style or have additional/enhanced senses but that's less fun to theorize about.

[ ] Plan Sir Suffering (Revised)
next on the list is a returning favorite with Deadman, Adamant, and Daggermaw!...I'll be honest: this is a tough one for me. Not because I don't have ideas but because. Well. I don't like deadman. Hes got an awesome concept and execution, but im not a fan of giving people a power that requires them to hurt themselves. It just feels like being a bad boss, you know? What would the union think!?!

Maybe I'm wrong though. Maybe Rhys doesn't even feel it because his power protects him. Or maybe, deadmans central theme isn't dying at all! Maybe his power involves sacrificing bodyparts for firepower and this is just how it manifested! Maybe he has to wait until he "dies" because turning the blood in his body into lava is painful! Or maybe theme is being a fire guy and Richard Michael's drew a really bad hand. That said, here's my picks
  1. Rhys becomes a mix of Burning Godzilla, Mechagodzilla, and The Man In the suit. He can spray/lob molten metal at his foes, scab his wounds with armor plating, and hit like a truck
  2. He transforms into a knight in Jurassic armor, a Dinosaur made of plates and scrap metal containing an inferno. He can fight normally, superheat for close quarters combat, or vent himself to blast torrents of flame. The could technically count as flight! Just not the kind you'd use near civilians.
  3. Sensing vibrations and/or heat from the volcanos he creates. Usually I'm loathe to give him senses so obvious but using manmade volcanos as makeshift ears is cool as shit so I have to say it. Maybe there's a chemistry element where he can alter the composition of the magma?
  4. Something something volcanic lightning. You know this rules.

[ ] Plan Monster! Mash! Best Match!
-[X] [The Red Huntress] (6 POTENCY)
-[X] [Crimson Soprano] (2 POTENCY)
-[X] [Daggermaw] (1 POTENCY)
-[X] POTENCY REDUCTIONS (-3 POTENCY)
-[X] TOTAL POTENCY OF DOSE: 6
Red Huntress's powers are basically confimed to have an element that focuses other powers to hunt down a traget. So that's nice

Crimson Soprano can shoot lasers and absorb light for biggerer ones. Pretty simple, but its the result of a side effect roll which means that's not her focus point. What is? I don't know, but it's certainly not flying. Perhaps lasers is the best we're gonna get. Oh well, not every sample has to be super complex, just ask steadfast¹

Daggermaw.
  1. Rhys will gain more/better senses to combat his foes, facilitating trick shots with his lasers.
  2. Henshin! Coat of Arms! Rhys gains access to a variety of forms depending on the situation, each with one specific power. Switching takes time and energy so he can't switch immediately after defeating someone, but sheer power means there's no bad choices. They look like a cross between Kamen Riders Amazon and Shin but function like one of the more modular Kamen riders
  3. LIGHT-SWITCH: Rhys can change his lasers/energy beams to do different stuff. He also gets shinier because that's cool as hell
This has been fun!
¹whose the reason mona is a blackhole but that's a theory for another day

So here's a question for you: was Esoteric Utility supposed to have a second DNA sample in it? Cause it only had Outsider as a sample, yet somehow a potency reduction of 3 brought it to Potency 5. Granted, if that WAS in fact the math you were going for, it would certainly answer my question on if you actually thought your plan won.......

Mechagodzilla is that you????????? Crazy.

Problem is, we can't use the same build twice, so mass producing superdoctors isn't really viable.

It would likely be more effective to grab an Algnernon type or several, mash them together for a supergenius, and have them be focused on spreading new, free medicine around the world.

Without his power active, is all of Ibis's smartness natural? Or does an Algnernon still have a small passive effect, and activating it just increased it further?

Ibis is naturally extremely intelligent as was Valiant Silver. Their power just made/make them capable of Clarktech basically.

There are some REAL idiots who are Algernon-types . . . like Lethal Anodyne.

They can't. Lethal Anodyne is an Algernon-type who specializes in chemicals that affect the human body. A super powered drug dealer, basically. His "healing" are cellular regeneration drugs that have nasty side-effects.
…god, please tell me that Medicant and maybe Augur (if he isn't trying to kill us) are late game recruits. All these metahumans are ass.

(I guess that's why Nora, Rakeem, and LL pushed so hard to make sure that Project Prometheus would work. One or two or ten great metahumans can do a lot in a lessened field like what we have rn.)
