Uh, looks like there's a dice pileup here. I'll take a 87 for the Mental and 29 on the Social. No EP needed for now.

Kermie, please look at what our buddies rolled for again

That first roll, the 87, was for Social!
Edit: Like... rolling high for Social is kinda Rei's thing. I'm surprised you missed that!

No. Sorry. I'm ruling it as first roll slotting into Mental, second going into Social. Please do not try and change my mind again.

Besides, Kirata made up for that second low roll, so it's fine.

So random idea I want to throw out: Xenoblade 3 AU.

That's all I got for now.
You're not allowed to do this to me-
HOW WOULD THAT EVEN WORK?! YOU COULD HAVE SAID JUST XENOBLADE OR 2 OR 1 OR X-
YOU CHOOSE THE ONE THAT'S BACK STORY CONNECTS TO ALL OF THEM!!!

;~; I'm like, gonna to explode
The best I could do is make the main trio of the quest Heroes, there is no way I could do anything else with 3-
Why must you put this into my head?

Sorry. You could still do 1, 2 or X if you really want to. I was only invested in and ever played 1 myself.
No no it's okay- I was trying to be overdramatic
You should find time for 2 and 3- and hey even X is getting a re-release soon so that's also an option!

Rei taking the place of Shulk does make me giggle though- Akemi would be Fiora and that would by default make Himari Reyn-
gosh now I wonder who would be Riki-

Kind of funny that we could see the first cutscene of Shulk/Rei and Reyn/Himari being same-ish with each other.
gosh now I wonder who would be Riki-
I'd say Tako. I can see Purrson as Dunban.

I wonder where we could fit Kasumi, because I do remember that the call to "adventure" is vengeance against the Mechon.

Omake: PERHAPS FOR RNG, OR MAYBE OMAKE
PERHAPS FOR RNG, OR MAYBE OMAKE

THE STORY IS IN DANGER, AND SOMEBODY MUST PROTECT IT.

Huh? You've heard this intro over and over again by this point?

Hmph, fine. I'll start again.

THE STORY IS IN DANGER, ACCOSTED BY A BAD ROLL, AND THERE MUST SOMEBODY TO PROTECT IT.

AND THEY DO SAY THAT WHEREVER THERE ARE BAD ROLLS, THERE ARE EFFORT POINTS.

HARD-EARNED BONUSES, WON BY OMAKES MADE WITH LOVE, USED BY PLAYERS TO PROTECT THE STORY FROM FAILED CHECKS.

YET THEY ALSO SAY THAT WHEREVER THERE ARE ROLLS, THERE WILL BE PRAYERS TO THE RNG

HEARTFELT PLEAS, SEEKING JUSTICE FROM THE MACHINE. HOPELESS YET TIRELESS, EACH NEW DIE ROLL ANOTHER FERVENT HYMN.

Readers do so for similar reasons, don't they? But they always act separately, in different ways, in different posts.

Well, until now, I suppose.

IT WILL BE YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO FIGHT ON TO PROTECT THIS STORY, PROVIDING EITHER ONE OF THEM. AND YOU WILL BE ACCOMPANIED BY FELLOW READERS, NO MATTER WHAT YOU CHOOSE. WHETHER YOU READ IN JOY OR FALL TO BICKERING IS UP TO YOU.

And I am so sorry you cannot escape the countless late nights spent here that was ordained for you the second you chose to open this story.

But this story is still a bit incomplete, isn't it? Yet unfurling, due to its Ņ̸̫͉̫͇̥͖̤͓͎̳͉̀̓͜ą̸̃͂͗́͝͝͝t̷̡̨̜̮͖̖̮̥͓͓̜̘̜͔́̆͒͜ũ̸̺̤̳̪̩̪̝͚̱͚͉̫͇̽͛̐͐̅̀͒̐̍͊̅̈̅͐̊͜͜͝r̷̘̤͛̓̈́͐̊̇͒͊͂̿͒̄̋̚͜͠ḙ̸̡̨̛̛̜̭̱̲͉̩͓̜̭͑̆̒̏̿̓͐́̒̋̈́̄̿͐͜.

Very well then. I'm definitely not allowed to do this, but…

I'll try to give you a heads up about what you're getting into.

The Good Parts. (Perks)

This story has so many wonderful things that you'll get to read, SV-dweller. I hope that you'll enjoy all of it.

Now, ask me some questions, and I shall answer.

What are the advancements of this quest?

Every single story is unique, and I've had the pleasure of getting to read this one very closely. You see, what's special about this quest is not just the amazing writing, the great characters, and all you might expect. The world is special because…

[ ] (0) …It's just beginning.

Um, wait, can I check the Threadmarks again?

Oh damn, they still start with a 0.

Well, it seems that you'll have a lot of waiting ahead of you. But character creation is the best part!

[The quest is still early. Much is undetermined, which means there's much you can help determine.]

[ ] (1) …It's well into the first arc.

Yes. The author's skills and will have been put to the test, and not found wanting. Updates have flown, wrung from the sweat of their brow or the pounding of their keyboard. The story is well underway, with a plethora of mysteries hinted at for you to wonder at when you should be sleeping.

But there's still so much more to come.

[The quest has begun! The rolls made here will shape all that follows -- good or bad, they can wrench the story askew. Prayers to the RNG will be all the more powerful for it.]

[ ] (2) …It has dozens of chapters, all there for you to read!

Thousands upon thousands of words. That make a deeply compelling story. Its filled with moments both fun and heartfelt, characters you love and who you know you'll love to hate, and it's not stopping soon.

[The quest is many chapters in. There's so much to enjoy, and to build upon! And yet a crit-fail could mean months of work undone, a crit-success triumph over one of your biggest hurdles.]

[ ] (1) …It's remarkably popular.

When the first human told their first story, did they worry how it would be received? For every vessel made of paper and ink (or glyphs on the screen) is a gamble, a roll of the dice. All one can do is post, and see what happens, the rest is up to people you will never meet. And yet, more than any other form, readers' investment in a quest is what gives it life.

And this story is flourishing. You can see it in the flurry of reactions that adorn each threadmarked post. The conversation that flows effortlessly, filling the lull between updates. The mad theorization and speculation that seizes on minutae mentioned off-hand to build sprawling corkboards of ideas.

[The quest has attracted a number of readers. All the more people to enjoy a good omake, or perhaps even proffer their own ideas...]

[ ] (2) …It's on fire, even considered for a User's Choice!

The world can be unjust. Bad things happen to good people, great works go unappreciated.

But not here. So many have flocked to a story that richly deserves it, and you will not be alone in all you seek to contribute.

You wake. You read the discussion. You contribute a dozen posts, some funny, some thoughtful, some somewhere in between. And then you sleep, just to awaken to another dozen pages of discussion that you missed. The story is a delight to read, and even more, the quest is a delight to be a part of.

[The quest has a strong community. Omakes will be closely read and can spawn a plethora of discussion posts on their own, while EP expenditures will be deeply appreciated by a considerable number of fellow readers.]

[ ] (2) …The quest is still early, but attracting a devoted following.

Maybe it's luck. Probably it's skill. But where one blessing goes others follow, and this quest has already attracted some devoted readers despite only being a few updates in.

They write Informational posts, deeply discuss the early votes, and help give newcomers the background that they might otherwise miss. Simply incredible.

[Gain the benefits of "It's well into the first arc" and "it's remarkably popular."]

[Later on, gain access to the advantages of a devoted community. ]

Sorry, you're bored?

No, I got that wrong. Apologies.

You just need to sleep soon, so you don't have time to go through the full intro?

Fair enough. Let's skip to the good part.

As you open a new thread on Sufficient Velocity, you still don't know what's in store for you.

Because little did you know, this thread was going to become the most important thread in your life.

Today would be the day you became a poster doing their best to help out, a:

EP Spender
You write Omake for the love of the story. You write Omake to hone your craft. You write Omake to bring joy to others.

And you don't mind the EP you get for it too.

Miss a breakpoint by a hair? A few EXP shy of a level?

In some quests, that would be a problem. But in this one, you're there to save the day.

And good thing too, these characters are going to need it...

RNG Worshipper
Some say the RNG is powered by lava lamps, bubbling up in an entropic flow. Others say it relies on the ebb of atmospheric currents, as they churn in the upper atmosphere. Others say it can all be traced back to a damn butterfly.

But you? You know the dice roller is rightly termed a God. One of the old-fashioned ones. The type to demand sacrifices, and punish disobedience, uncaring of all the checks it fails.

You also know it can be propitiated.

It may not be easy. It may not be wise. But on these rolls beloved characters will rise and fall, and you care too much to not try.

Omake-gripped Writer
You still write Omake for the love of the story. You still write Omake to hone your craft. You still write Omake to bring joy to others.

But you just. Can't seem. To stop.

The Apocrypha tab swells with your contributions, each excellent, each delightful. You have EP to spare, pushing rolls beyond what some would imagine possible. You have poured yourself out in thousands of words, and received much in return. Perhaps you could take a break.

But then an errant AU idea is mentioned off-hand, or a dream lingers with you, or an idea crosses your mind in the shower, and you're gripped to write once more.

Dice Roller
If the God will not come to you, you will go to it. There are moments where the next update is shaped, and in those moments, you will do your best. For you know the RNG will be doing its.

As it is written, "Decipher the pseudo-random number generator and it shall be clear to you; seek any edge and ye shall find; spam refresh and the rolls shall be yours to make."

So you had best make them well.

But that's all for the future. For now, just focus on reading what you need to read.

So open the threadmarks. And thus the story begins...

Meant with love and deep appreciation to all those who contribute here, and in Quests across this site!

pfft- haha- I can;t stop giggling at this

We are SO far from these being about the Quest itself- the Omakes are regressing XD
We have achieved true Omake-
GOSH HAAHAHAH-

Wonderful Omake Spider, gave me a wonderful smile!
And you did well to match it up to the opening of the quest- maybe we aren't regressing but going meta? ooooooo

I hope not —I was genuinely inspired by the story Kermie has made and the community they've built here! I hope this shows my appreciation, even if I took it in a Meta direction.

That interlude after the setting?

100% accurate.

I have ideas for how all those other pieces of world-building would be adapted, but I really need to sleep…

I meant like the story, since this went super far away from the concept of Magical Girls and Kamen Riders, but reading-

You mean to tell me you have an actual idea for how to translate this quest to a meta narrative?! What!? I take back what I said then this has me very intrigued!

Well... from someome that has played all 4 (X included) I think its workable? Xenoblade 3 does happens in a timeframe literally thousands of years long. If we dont start durimg Future Reedemed/ When the original City was around (Looks at that whole Cluster fuck) we have centuries if not millenia before the start of canon. And with the whole test tube baby soldiers thing going on you could easily just put them in any timeframe...and re put them after they die, again, and again. Just pick a colony and decide if they are Agnian( Blade, Flesh Eater, Blade Eater Usually stronger than Kevesi, also Gormotti/Urayan) or Kevesi (Machina/Entia/Hom).
If you choose earlier than cannon you could make a story about the trio and maybe 3 others. Your choice if ya want to make 3 and 3 to have them interlink (we know that it could happen...thanks to Noah and Mio) and they could reach canon if they fail (just have that they have a instinct to rebel against mobius) also no Off seers/ceremony once they reach their 10th term (those that played know) Until close to Canon time. If you do want it to be During canon, There are plenty of colonies the og party didnt see so our trio could be from ome of those. Theres a lot of potential....plus lot of trauma.
Anyway... Rei is a Attacker, Akemi is (dodge) Tank and Himari is (support)
