Liveblog Pt. 3/?

Lot more disappearances than normal, prob Granute.

Investigation from Hanto and Shouma, they're slowly picking up the pieces but not realizing it's one Granute instead of an organized group.

Shit, Sachika might be in danger? No, Shouma just sent a Gochizo (chips) after that suspected Granute.

Lango is the eldest brother boss, glasses guy is Nyelv.
It's hard enough to memorize Japanese names, Granute names are almost impossible.

Liveblog Pt. 4/?

Nyelv and the assassin guy (Laage-9) are going to be doing their own thing away from Lango, and Laage-9 now has the Pudding Driver (not real name, does actually look like a pudding press.) also,

Laage's been in human form for two scenes now and I WANT HIM CARNALLY RAAHHHH—

Ahem, back on topic.

Laage meets up with the orange Granute disguised as a human lady. Orange tries to Press/kill him, doesn't work since he's also a Granute with a Gavv (hey I said the thing!)

Gochizo just went back to warn Shouma about both of them, fight scene coming up!

Liveblog Pt. 5/?

Music just started playing, why is Shouma still using PoppinGummy? Shouldn't he just pop CaKing and be done with it? We saw how he kicked the twins' ass, this guy is literally just a fucking bird. Oh, and Hanto/Valen came along, he's in Bushel/Gatling Gun/Axe form. Nice!

Liveblog Pt. 6/?

Oh snap, choreography is snapping off as usual. Nice, they're both charging, Granute of The Week's flying, they gotta figure out a way to circumvent that and get him down.

Bro, Hanto is hitting NOTHING. Got him looking straight-up goofy in that shot.

Liveblog Pt. 7/?

Ok, ok… holy shit, they brought back Kicking Gummy, and Shouma just kicked Hanto's axe into the air like he's from Blue Lock. (The last few episodes, not Frame Lock!) They knocked bird guy out of the sky!

Oh shit, they're activating their finishers— Granute Of The Week down! They trapped his orange ass underneath Hanto's wood. Er, Hanto's logs from Bushel.

But what's this? Laage-9 just walked back in before Orange Granute could die! Both Shouma and Hanto are assuming that he's a human, but he just name-dropped Granutes!

Liveblog Pt. 8/?

SHOUMMAAA! WHAT ARE YOU TWO DOING STANDING THERE! HE'S ABOUT TO TRANSFORM! I KNOW YOUR SURPRISED HE HAS HIS OWN GOCHIZOS BUT MOVE YOUR ASS and there's a pudding cup on him and the suit's starting to form. Oh no.

Liveblog Pt. 9/?

Oh shit, they made the pudding themed guy go hard as fuck.

Alright, Hanto says that he's clearly still a Granute, more buildup for that eventual conflict between Shouma and Hanto— oh shit he's still got the tentacles. Now they just yeet stuff it seems.

NOT LIKE THIS, NOT TO THEM 😭 FIGHT BACK WHAT ARE YOU TWO DOING

Liveblog Pt. 10/10

HANTO GET UP, HANTO HE'S FUCKING DOING FIGHTING GAME COMBOS ON YOUR ASS! HE'S DOING STRINGS!!!

HE GOT FOLDED LIKE A LAWNCHAIR NO!!!!😭😭😭😭

Ok, Shouma's coming in to distract— DID THIS PUDDING MOTHERFUCKER JUST BLOCK ONE OF HANTO'S ATTACKS WITH THE FALLING RUBBLE WHILE STILL IN SLOW-MO?! NAHHHH

"His strength's on another level" we could all see that Shouma! Get up! use CaKing pls!!!!

…and that's where it ends. Uy.

Uh, next episode Laage-9 and Nyelv are doing some science stuff with the guy who operated on Hanto… Shouma's finally gonna pop CaKing.

THEY'RE GIVING THIS MAN THE THOUSAND ARROWS BOW, TOEI GIVE OUR HEROES A CHANCE.

In Conclusion:
  • Laage-9 and Nyelv may be forming their own bad guy faction? Dissolvment of greater Stomach Family possible?
  • Nyelv was NOT SLOUCHING. Kamen Rider Vlam is crazy.
  • Why are they disrespecting my boy Hanto so much. 😭😭😭

And that's it for the liveblogs. Now you excuse me, I'm gonna go and live in seclusion to avoid getting sued for five screenshots worth of copyright. After all,

(I just wanted an excuse to use that image one day.)

YES HE FUCKING WAS!!! THAT COMBO STRING WAS CLEAN!!!!

Also: I think Laage-9 is a double agent. He's made some very interesting comments regarding that he apparently wants to earn Stomach's TRUST for some reason, and those comments make it obvious that he has an ulterior motive for doing so, since he apparently doesn't care about Dark Treats.

They've also made it clear that Stomach are not in fact, the rulers of the Granute realm and they're technically a black market even on their own side. It might not be out of the question that Laage-9 is like, a Granute government spy going deep cover or something.

Ngl, that theory makes a lot of sense. Prob would have mentioned that but last week was really hectic so I kinda forgot about the finer details about Gavv. I'll schedule a rewatch of this arc this weekend maybe…

Next chapter might take a while longer, classes are really starting up in full for me. I'll still do my best to give you the same quality you all expect tho!

I feel ya. I start classes again tomorrow, so my evening slots during the weekdays are going to be filled. Heres hoping Indont miss future rolls, but anything can happen.

I'm glad to inform you that the chapter is coming along well, despite the mild difficulty of being constantly side tracked by so many other ideas and also writing about a conversation over fashion despite me not knowing jack shit about fashion. (Every time I tried to research it, I just ended up getting distracted by pretty dresses and ended up weirdly dysphoric. Not fun.) Expect a Saturday release, and we'll be back to updates two times a week once I'm done with getting used to this new class schedule. Being in California and seeing Los Angeles on fire (from a distance thankfully) has also given me a surprising excuse to spend more amount time inside.

On a half-related note, would you all be ok with me ditching the D&D-esque combat system, with the debuffs/buffs that mean nothing and the absurd bonus system coming from me trying to weld CK2 dice and normal D&D attack numbers together? (The whole system was made up on the fly on a summer night and kinda sucks rn.) I feel like that would be fine, and instead of picking spirits/forms based on moves it could be based on write-in utility/pure stats/the check bonuses like how the SSS allowed Rei to read those encoded documents easier. Thieves Guild could just be retooled to "less pure stats, way more write-ins".

In the case of that happening, I suppose that the combat would be more like my well-known favorite quest, Project Prometheus— based on just plain Physical/Magical/other relevant combat stats until the enemies run out of (narrative) health or until Rei and co run out of actual health. I sincerely doubt that anybody other than 1 or 2 readers actually read the combat logs rn, and I feel like now that I've gotten better at outlining that I won't fall into the weird trap of Space Oddity (my first Quest, and ngl just an aggressively mid fanfic) where the combat just felt kinda floaty with random d20s. It would definitely make the fights feel better to read and easier for me to be flexible with— both the Kirata and Hikaru fights were fights where I was playing fast and loose with the dice, and both those fights were terrific fun for me to write and read.

(The Archfiend fight was also fun, but that was mostly just from Himari's absurd string of luck/character development combo and also the part where I made her do something insane, headbutting the claymore, outside of the dice. That's the kind of thing that won't happen again.)

As long as we can still roll stuff, do what helps you write better.

Yeah I have not read the fight logs and have had minimal understanding of how the combat system works throughout reading, despite enjoying the fight scenes! I'm happy to work at a different level of abstraction.

I think retooling it works fine, and I am always an advocate for allowing more creative problem solving in a quest (as you no doubt remember Kermie), so feel free to give it a try!
